Always wanted a Honda
Needed a small SUV w/awd and good economy for my short(22m each way) commute to work. Looked at Hyundai, Jeep Liberty, Toyota Highlander, and KIA Sorento. For the money, nothing offered what the CRV-EX does. Was a little sceptical about a 4 cyl. since I'm a performance freak but this is the neatest little 4 I've ever driven.
So far, I love it
It is so much fun to drive so far. I love the stereo and the sunroof. I wish the gas milage was a little better, but I am working on careful driving.

CR-V Beats Accord
This is a great car. My prior vehicle was an 02 Accord V6. The Accord had power but not much else. This is a really fun car. The SE in pewter pearl is beautiful. Interior is very comfortable. Controls are accessibe and easy to use.Radio & 6CD changer is a real plus. Plenty of room in rear seat for tall adults and plenty of storage. Exterior molding in body color makes the car. For a 4 cylinder car has excellent pick-up and is getting good gas mileage. I was looking to purchase an SUV; the Pilot was too big and so far I am completely satisfied w/ the CR-V.
great Vehicle
I've had two of the vehicles. The car is so fun to drive. We don't do too much long distance, but on a long trip it was fine. Got best tires available and that seemed to be a plus. It is just great and fun and economical and holds 4 people with plenty of room and lots of baggage or purchases. No complaints on our 2004.
I've Always Had Honda's
I've had Honda's forever, and have always loved them. When looking for a small SUV, I considered the Xterra because of 6 cyl. engine. Was totally surprised at the pep in the CRV. I've always drven manual transmission cars, but wanted an automatic. Was afraid that I'd lose too much pickup. I went to the EX model mostly because the upholstery in the LX was tacky. I didn't really want 4WD since I live in FL and it's not necessary. I'm a teacher and off-road stuff is not my thing. Honda always equips their cars well, and the CRV is no exception. The comfort level is great. I think I'm going to love this car.
good buy for the money
It's a Honda. What more needs to be said? It's dependable, econonmic and fuel efficient. It's everything I wish the American builders would copy.
My 05 CR-V EX Fits All My Needs and Why
I could not be happier with my 05 Honda CR-V EX (5 speed auto/AWD). The 4 cyl is very peppy. Because of plenty of low speed torque it beats most of the V-6's I drove. This 4 cyl is very responsive and fun to drive. Others are too truck like for me. I love the look both inside and out. The interior is very plush above the rest. It beats all the compact sized SUV's in cargo and personal roominess. Consider it Mid-sized. For my use,I just want dependable transportation in bad weather and a snappy fun car-like ride, but with the looks and height of a SUV. It is all this in an affordable package that gets high gas mileage and will retain a high resale value It's a HONDA!
New CR-V Special Edition - Fantastic!
Just purchased but already know I'm going to love it. Remarkably quiet, responsive, good power in 16valve VTEC 2.4l engine. Typical Honda quality and thoughtful layout. Leather seating and heated seats worth the extra money. Unbelievable features in a $25000 SUV
Not bad but...
The ride is stiff but for a $21,000 SUV you cant expect a Lexus ride. The seats are comfortable around town but will beat you up on 3+ hour rides. My kids love to drive it but my wife hates it. We bought it so my wife could use it as a work vehicle. She drives 50k yearly so we wanted a disposable car we could give one of our teenagers. In the end she took my 4-Runner and left me the CRV. Not a bad little car for the money but does not have a low range and the towing capacity is non existent. The car is tight and if it is like most of our Hondas and Toyotas we expect at least 200,000 miles. I like the first major tune-up is at 110k instead of 60 k like many cars.
Couldn't be more pleased!
This is typical Honda at a great price! The ride and steering are tight- -just what one would expect with a Honda. It drives as good as my Accord. The cabin room is very accommodating considering this is tagged as a "mini- SUV". The 5-speed transmission shifts very smoothly and although this is just a 4-cyl 160hp engine, it has more than enough pep. The ability to adjust the rear seats fore and aft is a nice touch. The main factor in considering this vehicle was addition of the SE trim level(has leather seats)--I wouldn't have considered the CR-V, otherwise, and would have purchased a V- 6 EX Accord.
Sweeeet, but . . . .
Mechanically sophisticated and refined. Reasonable compromise of utility and sporty drive feel. Yet to see advertised gas mileage (~5K miles). Overall, am very happy with the vehicle, especially the fact that it accomodates my 6'8" frame but isn't too tall for my 5'2" wife. While obviously taller than its Civic sibling, bears no resemblence to my '98 Trooper which expired when it left me inverted after a modest evasive manuever. Spent many hours researching replacement vehicle and after deciding to sell my sailboat (~3K lb. w/ trailer), realized I didn't need the extra 1000 lb., lower gas mileage, top-heavy truck-like handling and general eco-unfriendliness for a mostly daily driver.
Too much expectations
Expected much more, but still happy with the choice. Ride is much bumpier than expected. Although otherwise loaded, the vehicle lacks some features available on older and cheaper cars - illuminated vanity mirrors, outside vs. integrated glass antenna. The alloy wheels don't look like such. Steering wheel-mounted controls might look clumsy, but are very convenient actually. A/C is listed as "dual automatic" - it's just the regular one.
CRV SE
This is a great little SUV, fun to drive, handles well,is comfortable and has a great storage area . I test drove, and researched many, and definitely recommend in the small SUV class!
Fun to Drive
I had decided to buy a Toyota Rav 4. Several people I knew had one. However, when I drove it, and then compared prices with the Honda CRV, it didn't compare. For less money and a quieter ride, I could get a 6 cd changer and all wheel drive on the Honda. The Rav 4 was not nearly as good a value and the interior was not as comfortable as the CRV.
A great little truck
Have had this truck since October 2004 and so far it has been great. I love it.
Perfect Car for Me
I wanted to add to the family fleet a car that is designed for utility, reliable, weather worthy, economical, comfy enough for a 300+ mile trip with females aboard, yet can also serve as my mobile man cave. Gas prices scared me off pick up trucks and full size SUVs. Besides, I don't tow, haul or off road. It looked like it was hard to make a really bad choice among compact SUVs, but for my purposes the CR-V is the pick of the litter. I enjoy driving this car. In hilly areas, it's interesting to keep an eye on the tach to check out what the smart 5-speed auto is up to. Sometimes I enjoy just examining the clever design solutions and overall quality.
My first SUV
I've waited this CR-V SE for 2 years and it worths the wait. Great vehicle!!
Sensible compact SUV choice
As best as I can remember, one editor from the Car & Driver once wrote about the '03 (or '04?) Honda Accord: "...the richness in quality and in contents embrace its owners so much that they don't care if the prestigious cars are parking next to them..." This phrase also applies to CR-V SE. Parking next to my brother's '03 Lexus RX300 and I don't care if people want to make a comparison. That is because I own '05 CR-V SE.
Great for Kids
This is a great car for a young person we got our daughter one and she loves it and we do too alot of room for her she is in college and she loves the car great on the road and very very safe care
dependable, reliable, and just plain fun
First, let me say this is my fist Honda, and I could not be happier. However, no car/truck (this vehicle fits into both categories) is perfect. Lets dispense with the small bit of bad. The black plastic exterior cladding shows dirt (especially salt/lime deposites or any light colored road grime) far to easily. I'm 6'2" tall and on long trips the driver accommodations get a little snug. The back tail lights look entirely to large and black is the only color I liked in non-limited trim, as it is the only color to match the cladding. Good stuff? Great fuel economy (22 mpg average), sporty ride, great back seat room, fantastic grip in the slippery stuff, no build quality problems, and looks.
What more do you want?
Previous vehicle was an '01 V8 Silverado. Traded in for better gas milage, real Time 4x4, and resell value. Bought an '05 white with beige interior. Had dealer install fog lights, roof rack, running boards and wood grain panel. This is a nice overall vehicle that has multiple uses hence the name Compact Recreational Vehicle. Don't let the small size fool you; you can fit a lot of things in there thanks to the sliding rear seat that also tumbles. Used it to transport a Grandfather clock. Hooks in the back also make carring the groceries home easier. The picnic table is nice, probably wont use it much though. The subfloor storage helps keep items out of sight. Worth a test drive!
Wonderful vehicle
Perfect for where i live in the winter. Perfect for carrying my dogs good but not great gas milage i have owned 3 crv's and i love them all
my CRV performs
great utility car .. quiet .. comfortable ... economical 23-25 mpg ...extremely well built room for 5+ .. space for weekend trips to the mountians or Home Depot :-)
So Far So Good
Bought my CR-V over the weekend and have driven it about 150 miles so far. Everything works well except the sunglasses holder. It takes a little push in the back after the standard push in the front that should have done the job. The car drives nice and feels solid, much tighter than the 04 Odyssey I got earlier in the year. The car feels a bit under-powered above 70 mile per hour, however it could be me missing the instant acceleration I got used to from the 2000 Accord V6 I traded in or the fact that I was unease with driving too fast while breaking in the new car. Headlights are nice and bright, now I am bothering car drivers like I used to be bothered.
Honda does it again
After having my CR-V (EX) for a little over a month I can honestly say that this is a super vehicle. I should have made the purchase at the begining of the year. It has lots of leg room and is roomy inside. The car has that certain feel that things have which are made to last. The American People are aware of this and you see them everywhere. I just got back from a road trip, the car was setting the pace on the highway. I paid 24K out the door for the Ex model, which is well worth kicking in the extra 2k. If you are thing about getting this suv, then think no more. I can't wait to read your review.
Switched from a RAV to a CRV
I am happily surprised with all the standard equipment that comes with the SE. It does not compare to the RAV 4 in this regard. I also find the CRV to have much better pick up than the Toyota. I am glad I made the switch
From RX-7 to CR-V and not disappointed
I replaced my 94 RX-7 sports car with a CR-V SE because I was having trouble with my knee and getting in and out of it every day was not fun at all, even though driving the RX-7 was. So I went looking at all the different small SUVs (Escape, RAV4, Subie, Equinox...)I had test-driven other SUVs in the past and they all felt too boaty. When I found the CR-V and drove the SE model, I thought "This could be it .. I could tolerate it". Well, I not only tolerating it, but actually enjoying it. It is quick, nimble and uses much less gas than the RX-7. The other day on the freeway at about 80mph, a delivery truck decided it wanted the same lane I was changing to. The evasive manouver was no sweat.
Luv my SE CRV
I love everything about it including the satellite radio. My wife finds it a little hard to sleep but the heated seats are awesome.
Honda CRV-SE
This is one fun car to drive. It handles well and we have found that the gas mileage is as promised. We love the appearance and convenience of the back door that works two ways. We are able to carry a lot in the back even without putting the back seats down. The heated seats are a bonus and we got this car fully loaded and really love it.
Love it!
My previous vehicle was a Honda Accord LX which I really loved too. When it came time to trade it in I thought I wanted another Accord but the black, CRV SE on the lot caught my eye. I love the sporty look. It rides great. I was amazed by the pick up. I love being up high and not feeling like I am driving a monster truck. There is a surprising amount of leg room in the back seat also. I am very happy with my CRV and look forward to driving it for many years.
Good Car
I have had alot of cars in my day..BMW , Volvo, Chevy's and Fords..I was hesitant to get this auto as it is a Honda..I had one in the 80's and it was just Ok..anyway..my CRV is a great little SUV. I live in NYC and I can get into tight spots, enjoy hwy miles all in one. Highly recommend it
Not what I expected from Honda!
I am a long term Honda owner who selected the CRV over the alternatives mainly because I have been VERY happy with my 95 DelSol. Thus far, my experience with the CRV and has been mostly negative: First, my car has a pronounced pull to the right: both under acceleration and when rolling. The dealership tried twice to fix it and then DECLARED THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND HAS REFUSED TO DO ANY MORE WORK!!! Moreover, American Honda is BACKING THEM UP! Second, Honda quotes fuel economy numbers of 23/29. So far, I've been getting less than 20 (primarly highway). I know its cold, and perhaps the engine still needs to break in, But so far this vehicle is far from fuel efficient.
Confused Buyer
Veh. is ok, but it has shortcomings,i.e Road feel, a little noisy at hwy. speeds, radio tone stuck on bass setting, Always hit my knee on wheel tilt lever, no fog lights, no front mud flaps, all extra, rear seats don't fold flat, inadequate storage in front. No storage tray under pass. seat due to air bag sensing wires hanging down, no room. 2004 EX had tray. No lighted vanity mirrors, driver & pass windows has little to no tint. Passenger knees nearly hit glove box with seat all the way back, inaquate room. No roadside assistance program. Emergency brake on dash is awkward. I traded 2001 Hyundai Santa-Fe on the EX and had 60K miles with zero problems. Santa-Fe is superior all around.
My Review
We bought this car because we wanted something roomier and better than an Accord EX. The car turned out to be very spacious, but it could have a better engine and a larger fuel tank. I really do not see a lot of use for the table and am not sure I will ever use it. I would have preferred a net and a cover for the trunl. Overall it is a good car and I definelty recommend it. I have no regrets and would certainly buy another one.
Honda CRV. You don't need a 6 cylinder
I have 2 Honda CRV. I gave my fiancee my old Honda CRV, it have 182,000 miles with the same transmission and engine. I bought the second Honda without test driving it. The new Honda have plenty of power. I don't understand why everyone want a 6 cylinder. I have no trouble getting around in the snow and it get 24 to 25 miles per gallon. I am going to keep this car until it drop. I think this is the best car for your money. Toyota is over price. I bought the new Honda with the sunroof and roofrack for $ 23,500 and that include tax.
Zebe Review
More room inside than I thought it would have. Solid ride. Handles the road nice although pick up could be better - sometimes feels a bit sluggish. Mileage on sticker isn't true. Wish they had a hybrid model available.
DKKCRV
Best rated vehicle I could buy to tow behind motor home with four wheels on the ground. It has proven to be versatile and reliable.
Love it!
Got rid of our gas-guzzling minivan for this SUV. It's a pleasure to drive, has a ton of space and gets great mileage. One of the headlight low-beam bulbs blew at 200 miles while on vacation, but Augusta, Maine Honda dealership got it in quickly and took care of it ASAP.
It's a keeper
Purchased a mini-SUV came down to a Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V. I liked the body style of the RAV4 over the CR- V, but could not locate a RAV4 with leather, all-wheel drive and side curtain airbags. I purchased the SE AWD because of the AWD, leather and the body-color bumpers, side molding and spare tire cover, much more attractive then the black molding and bumpers. Athought the body style reminds me of a Chevrolet Blazer, it has the best safely features. As for the vehicle, it rides nice and its comfortable, although I do wish the CR-V had electric seats and removable rear seats. The SUV could use more under- body sound proofing, as the road noise is a little loud.
Moving On Up
After having a 2004 Civic LX for 7 months I decided I wanted something a little bit bigger but not as big as the Accord. I took one look at the 05' CRV EX and was hooked. This SUV has plenty of power, space and comfort items. I'm 6'1" and I can sit in the back seat with both of the front seats all the way back and my knees have about 2" of space between them and the seat in front. GREAT JOB HONDA!
I love this car!!!
I waited for 3 years to buy the CRV. I did not like the interior of the 2001. Finally Honda made the interior with as much comfort as my accord. I love the size...not too big...I own the SE ...so it took a little while to get used to the leather interior but the heated seats in the winter were well worth it!!!
Best of All Worlds
We bought this new SE in looking for a car for my mother--we wanted everything- -particularly in a safe, comfortable, attractive drive which could handle all road conditions, coming truly highly rated on all aspects which make a difference. This SUV has everything one could want, with a car-like ease of driving. We know we won't have to worry about my mother in terms of safety or reliability. This is a well thought out design on all fronts which merges attractiveness, drive, safety, interior features, incredible standard features and overall class for an incredible price for the Special Edition.
I Love This Car
This SUV is so much fun to drive that I hunt all over the neighborhood for someone that needs a ride or to go somewhere, just like I did when I first obtained a driver's license
Car feels great
Everything you need, nothing you don't, and for a very good price for the list of safety features, including lots of air bags, vehicle stability assist. Excellent interior space and utility. The 4 cylinder feels just adequate for the size of vehicle while maintaining good gas mileage. 5 speed transmission that is very smooth.
Love My CRV
As an owner of many SUV's prior to this I thought they were pretty much all the same. This truck is fabulous...comfortable, handles great, fuel efficient and reliable. I am a Honda owner for life...Don't let yourself down!
I couldnt be more pleased...
I travel the country a lot and have it in all terrain. You name it. Never 'off-road' though. It has been completely reliable.
Great Commuter vehicle
I commute 120 miles a day in the Chicago area, and have driven everything (cars, small pick-ups, SUV's). I chose to buy an SUV to save gas, but got so much more. These 4 cyclinders have enough pick-up to rival my old Dodge 8 cylinder 4.7 litre, and without the guilt of burning 16 mpgs. In addition, I was rear-ended by someone doing over 45 mph in my new CRV(sad day). The body shop was amazed at how the rear end crumpled exactly how it was advertised. Because of this, there was no actual frame damage, and the cabin remained intact. I stayed intact as well, and am glad I was in such a safe car. When I am not commuting, I now feel much better knowing that my children will be safe in back!
THIRD TIME AROUND
This is our third Honda, first CR-V. Peace of mind=Hondas in the garage. Bought this model only because the SE trim level. We looked at everything on the market at all levels and always came back to the CR-V. We did not want 300 horsepower, hugh monthly payments, bad resale, status symbol etc. The CR-V works great. It has everything we need and more. Most important it has Honda engineering and build quality. Well worth the time to look at this before you buy.
awsome ride
My husband and I purchased this suv a week ago and love it! There is so much room inside and in the back seat that we were suprised! We go on trips all the time with our friends and now we will all have plenty of room. The interior is well designed with plenty of storage. Overall just suprised at how well it handles, not joking when they say it handles like a car. Also is much quieter than the toyota rav4 on highway.
Explorer V8 to CRV
I had an Explorer V8 and loved it, however, it was always a gas hog. My CRV not only delivers on gas mileage which half the Explorer thirst but give a better ride and great manueverability. My big dislike is the dealer not disclosing the SE version which I could have purchased a couple months later and the excessive wind and road noise. Other than that its been a great vehicle.
