Driver Distraction locks me out my Audio Controls

Deb, 05/12/2019

If you need to adjust your sound settings, bass, treble, mid, etc, while driving, do NOT buy this car. Once the car starts moving, that function is locked. That's just ridiculous. The lag time for searching for songs is more of a distraction that adjusting sound settings. Get on board Honda. If I had known this before I bought the car, I would have turned around and walked out of the dealership. My only option now is to take this "Premium" head unit out and replace it with aftermarket. I haven't had the car long enough to review anything else.

This is the best car I have ever owned. I keep my cars a long time and care for them well. My trade was a 2005 Grand Marquis which was comfortable and trouble free for many years but I did not enjoy driving it. The Honda is easier to drive, more economical and takes very little effort to park, handle or rack up the miles on a long drive. Visibility is excellent. For years I was nervous about something popping out of the Marquis’ massive blind spots unexpectedly with deadly results. I never really knew where the car’s total foot print was at critical times. The Honda is a confidence builder and I have been driving over 50 years with a good record Thanks to the adjustable steering wheel, it’s easy to get in and out of, too.

An almost perfect car

2018 Honda Civic Si 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)

This car has numerous AC problems.honda has extended the warranty on the AC to 10 years. The fuel pump needs to be replaced, Honda has done this because of a recall. This is because of the compression ration of the engine, it is 16:9:1, which means the car needs premium gas. The onboard computer is supposed to compensate with, “no knock software” I am not convinced a new fuel pump is the solution, so I started putting in premium gas and my car stopped having issues starting and stalling while driving. The car looks good and has enough umph for how much the car costs. But the suspension sucks, it can’t take turns that well, and the ride is really rough (for some). The mpgs are great, I average 35 and drive like a jerk with premium gas. Overall it’s a decent car, but it has an average amount of issues for a car now a days (blame ford and gm for lowering the bar). I would not recommend this car, as it seems this is an “almost great car”

I've owned multiple BMWs over the years and this car is as close to that performance as I've ever encountered. Mine is a 4 door and was a CPO car with 46K on it when I bought it December 2020 for $17.5K. The most fun to drive, and still gets 42+ mpg. The best car purchase decision I ever made. The six speed manual gives control that you never achieve with a CVT, and in my opinion will outlast the CVT. I've owned many Hondas including 3 motorcycles, and this car is the most fun of all of them! Try it, you'll LOVE it!

I bought it used, 18,000 miles, a lease return. It's the LX package. Non-turbo, 2.0 AT. Awesome commuter, I average 40-41 MPG every week. The variable transmission is smooth and finds it's correct gear every time. The naturally aspirated 2.0 is peppy and efficient. Plenty of passing power. Very solid build. Adequate insulation from road noise. I acclimated quickly to the dash layout and controls. Steering is tight and responsive and the handling is great. Growing up I've had Honda Motorcycles - this was my first Honda auto, but I knew what to expect. When I was dating my (now ex) wife she had a 76 (I think). The Civic has taken generational leaps. The car reminds me of my (now sold) Mercedes C250 coupe - I think as sporty a design as the MB, but gobs more reliable. It's a win, love it !

Some of the worst reviews I’ve ever seen with not much brains. Gas opener? Transmission? Really? Zero issues and excellent car. Look how many on the road. Also own a 1999 4Runner 250k miles runs perfect. Making fools of yourselves daily. Why would anyone give a car two stars about a gas opener? (Also zero issues with the gas opener have ever been reported unless one of your 5 kids messed with it). Dumb people. Honda makes great cars as does Toyota. Case closed.

This car is extremely reliable, sleek looking, and beautiful interior is what makes this car worth buying! I’ve had mine for 3 years now, no issues at all. I have the LX model, plain Jane. But it has sport mode which gives it a little speedy boost. I love how cheap it is on fuel, I rarely need to fill up if Im just driving around town. The features are awesome, I love the touch screen display. Although one thing I hate is the volume button isn’t a nob, it’s a touch button on the side which makes it hard to turn down quickly. The apple carplay is wonderful, it’s a must these days! Overall I’m completely satisfied with this vehicle and plan on keeping it in my family for a long time :)

I've never owned a Honda. Ive always believed they were to expensive for my cheap budget. During covid when the government was giving out free money, I decided to give up my SUV days and get a car that would save me on gas. Walked into carmax and this baby was practically giving to me for a good deal due to a red tag sale they were having. First let me start off by saying I drove the car 4 years before I realized what the s-drive meant(sport). Put it to the test and I love it. My daughter would always raise her hands like she on a roller coaster and say GO! 🤣 . I take running late to a different meaning now. Maintenance: The car tells you with codes when something needs to be done. Ive had my regular oil changes which costs me about $90 at my local Kwik Car, changing air filter, rotating tires, brake flush, transmission flush which cost me about $200. Being a REALTOR and haven to drive alot, i ve had this car going on 5 years with 170,000 miles and the only problem I've had was to change the battery twice. Be careful, when the battery is down on the newer cars it makes it seems if it's an electrical problem. Other mechanics was telling me I needed an alternator or the starter is out (Not) Only the battery both times. I'm in the market now for a SUV and I'm debating on an Audi, Genesis, or another Honda. I LOVE MY HONDA CIVIC

Great overall vehicle I purchased back in 2018 car has about 80500 miles on it now. One thing I can say is the vehicle has a bad blind spot on the drivers side always double check your mirrors and look over your shoulder. I wouldn't call the car fast but quick is a good way to describe it. Getting about 32 miles per gallon best part is I can do most of the work myself on this car everything is simple just like other Honda vehicles. Overall a good car for your buck but if your looking into getting features like sunroof, heated seats, push to start I would recommend Hyundai just saying 10 years 100000 mile warranty kills Hondas warranty.

I love my little 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback! But it has provided a couple headaches to consider…the first year I battled with a weird sound that turned out to be something with the air conditioning that was under warranty. Another issue that is current, the paint on both rear mirrors and on the handles of the doors are flaking off. My car is not garage kept..but none of my cars have been and it was never an issue with my Taurus or Nissan Sentra (both had over 10 years on them). Something to consider when spending over 25k on a vehicle.

I leased the 2018 Honda Civic LX in March 2021. I decided to keep it and continue to pay it off. Now in 2023 after already having to replace the fuel actuator door in 2022 my AC compressor is defective and Honda refuses to cover that cost. They initially wanted me to pay $2000. It is defective I only have 34,585 miles on the car and three years left to pay it off. During this process of trying to get them to take responsibility for the compressor I had a rude service technician who sealed the deal with me never wanting to buy another Honda and looking into filing a civil complaint against the company instead of being open to contributing to the cost for something that is obviously defective I don’t recommend Honda anymore and certainly don’t buy a civic when there’s a recall on the condenser which runs in tandem with the compressor and the second opinion I got doesn’t agree with Honda.

I can not rave enough about this little gem of a car. All my other vehicles put out more than twice the 205HP this little turbo Si puts out but this is the car my wife and I always want to drive. I put on tires and wheels lighter and much more stickier than the all season from the factory (This option is available from Honda in warmer areas for only $200) this make a huge difference taking this fun daily driver to a whole new level of excitement. This is a 10/10 car, meaning you can use 100% of its capabilities 100% of the time on the street. It’s crazy fun, cheap to maintain and insure plus running 93 octane effortlessly gets over 35MPG.

I have only had my car since last March. I absolutely love(d) it! I recently was involved in an accident where I hit someone turning in front of me in an intersection. I was going 40mph. My only injury was sternum pain due to the seatbelt and or the airbag and a wrist abrasion from the airbag. My car looked like it had minimum front end damage after that type of accident. I just found out it has been totalled due to the engine shifting. I have heard about the high safety ratings of the civic (which is one of the reasons I bought this vehicle), I believe this proves it. I am very thankful that I was in this car during this accident. Thank you Honda.

My 2018 EX-L is spacious with great acceleration. It has great fuel economy at approximately 40mpg and over 400 miles range on a full tank. I like the Honda Lane Watch feature with the side camera on the passenger mirror that allow you to see your blind spot on the display when operating the right turn signal. This was an excellent choice for a second car to split the miles between it and my 2018 Acura MDX. This is a much improved Honda Civic from previous models.

This car is exactly what I was looking for. I just recently bought it a month ago. This was my first time purchasing a new car and I am not disappointed with my purchase. For those thinking about getting the hatchback, make sure you know exactly what you want in order to get the right trim that you want. You need to be aware that there are some trims that do not include certain features. I did my research and I was overly happy with my purchase of the Civic Hatchback EX. The car drives smooth, fast, is spacious, and was not that expensive. The exterior sporty look is awesome (actually one of the reasons I bought the car :) and exactly what I wanted!! Honda is so far a dependable ride and totally worth it.

Great Car - Cheap Floormats, Defective Engine

Proud owner of a 2018 Civic EX-T manual transmission, 1.5l. This is the only year the 1.5l - manual transmission combination was offered in the sedan. What can I say, nice driving position, great gas mileage (average 46mpg), peppy engine, and regular gas. A really fun combination. I honestly love this car. Unfortunately, it's more style over substance. Simple things, like the driver's floormat wearing a hole through it in 8 months, or a missing volume knob. Details that would be frowned upon from other car manufactures are simply dismissed by those that own Hondas. Also, don't forget the massive elephant in the room: the troublesome 1.5l oil dilution issue. Honda has issued an 'action' to fix this problem by updating some engine software and sending me home with a smile. Also, without fanfare, Honda has extended the warranty on vital engine components against wear for 6-years unlimited mileage. Yet, all reviewers still recommend the CR-V, Civic, and Accord with the 1.5l engine. Why? After 3 years of ownership, I have mixed feelings about this car. The 1.5l turbo engine provides excellent gas mileage. Although it is noisy and doesn't like high rpms. Also, idles with a bit of vibration. Perhaps it's characteristic of a turbo engine, but I do not like the feeling when I give the gas that it feels underpowered till the turbo kicks in. It reminds me of one of my old cars that had carburetor issues in the past. Also, I cannot stand the entire heater/AC touchscreen design. I take my eyes off the road while driving more than anyone on a cell phone just trying to reduce the fan speed or put the AC on.

I love this ride. Purchased back in April and, so far so great! Performance-wise I’m up- to-speed in the city zipping from destination to destination, enjoyable, with so many technical features captivating passengers from the inside. The style of the body looks like a new aesthetic of Honda, lol, one not to be overlooked #blackonblacklove

I had very high expectations and this car is even better! Only 700 miles so far but no disappointments or problems. It is great! Now at 4800 miles it is still 100% wonderful. Best car I ever had (BMWers and Lexus).

I bought a brand new 2018 civic hatch Manual 6 speed and It is comfortable to drive, immaculate gas mileage, easy to maneuver and great response times. I have avoided a couple accidents already and that first one was when I knew I chose the right car!! I can honestly say there are only 2 things I would change. 1) my drivers side window motor is already going out and I only have 7k on my car and 2) there is no CD Player. Other than that if you are looking for a reliable, comfortable and affordable car.. This CIVIC is it!

The 10th gen civic is one of the best economy cars for people that like to enjoy their drives. The car is very stable at high speeds and you don’t get any sort of vibrations or rattling when you push the car. The engine as a whole is powerful enough for any sort of quick overtake you may need to accomplish. The interior styling along with infotainment system are top notch. Having owned three separate 10th GEN civics, I have noticed sensor issues are decently common, so make sure to take care of your sensors and the underside of the car to ensure the wires are kept out of exposure, especially if you live somewhere that snows. Also, kept me safe during an 80kmph t bone collision, saving my life and leaving me with minor physical injuries compared to what it could have been. Overall, super reliable car, and one of the best cars you can get for under 20 K. I cannot recommend it enough.

I have a hatchback sport 2018.. i just bought out the car after financing for 3 years… I have had more problems with the vehicle then times enjoying it… it’s almost as if it turned my disposition into an endless worry when it came to this car.. The car is almost 4 years old & I have had to change the low profile tires 15 times… living in New York with endless pot holes.. a vehicle with low profile tire settings is a no go! Also.. about a week ago.. my alternator blew and for a week now I’ve been searching endlessly to buy a replacement part… It is nowhere to be found because there is a backorder.. BUT NO RECALL ON IT.. Disgraceful.. Honda just wants to rob you with this car
