Love my Civic Si

This Honda is a great car. The 2.4l iVTEC is an absolute BLAST to drive. The 6spd manual transmission is fantastic. While not the fastest car in this price range, I believe it's the best all-around vehicle in its class when considering price, gas mileage, reliability, 4 door practicality, and performance. I live in the midwest and weather is not always ideal. With the FWD, the car works very well as a daily driver. The new 2.4l engine offers plenty of torque and power for a vehicle in this class, but with the limited slip and stability control, torque steer is almost non-existent. In spirited mixed driving, I've averaged 28MPG. In highway driving, it's easy to get over the rated 31MPG

2012 civic Si - from Hell.

Let me start by saying this; all my life I've driven RWD performance cars (multiple 350z 05, and 07, s2000, eclipse v6 , 08 corvette) - this was my first FWD sporty car and IT DID NOT dissapoint comparing to all of those cars, which tells you a lot. The biggest issue you will see people mention is the bad interior quality, yes if you are coming from a BMW or a Lexus it will feel bad, but coming from the cars I listed above it felt like a definite upgrade. Key Pros: MPG, Torque (yes its not a v8, but a 4cyl pumping out 170 ft lbs in a lightweight sedan (2900lbs) is superb, transmission, handling. For the price & honda reliability/resale value it CAN NOT be beat, sure there are faster cars for the same price - but you won't get the reliability or the resale (gti I am looking at you) - Should you buy it ? YES. I can't wait for the 2017 civic si.

EPA estimates are way off

I was hesitant to commit to the 2012 SI because the EPA estimates are not very impressive. But I took a gamble figuring if I was disappointed, I could easily trade due to the high resale value. I have just under 6000 miles on it so far in about 6 weeks. In mixed driving my worst tank of gas was 32 mpg. Best so far was over 37 (with a bit of neutral coasting at exit ramps, etc). As the car "breaks in", it really feels like it's getting quicker. It's great fun to drive. Much more torque than my '08 EXL. Interior noise is not quite, but is acceptable. My '08 interior is a bit classier. But I'm getting used to the '12.

Having driven an Acura RSX-S for 11 years I expected a lot from my new ride. In the end, I like the 2012 Civic Si, but ultimately it doesn't feel quite complete. The TSX engine and transmission are definitely improvements, and the fuel efficiency is pretty amazing for a performance vehicle. The electronics package is adequate, but the rest of the interior is cheap and frustrating. Compared to previous Si's, the 2012 is way less juvenile, and delivers a fun smooth ride for my long daily commute.

Great car for the money!! Lots of power from the K24 engine, even though a turbo would be really sweet. A bit too much cost cutting for 2012; interior plastics cheap, but better than a 80-90's Big 3 car; sway bars thinner than previous generation and the 2013-2015. A "sport minded" car should have full instrumentation, not idiot lights!! And the tach doesn't need to be so big. Radio is great, iMid is great, big speedometer at eye level great. Needs a rear window wiper. Economy great! One trip from TN to FL at 80 mph got 36mpg! Not as good as a an EX or LX, but way better than my old Camaro. Would definitely buy another, can't wait to try out the 2017 Si.

2012 SI Sedan - LOVE IT

I ordered this bad boy back in July and drove it home in mid-September. Extremely fun to drive. - I'm not going to race any Mazdaspeed3 turbo'd rockets, but this thing has a lot of pep. - The 6-speed is smooth and sweet, on par with a much more expensive BMW or Audi, but without the electrical and high maintenance issues that come with the German cars. - Sport suspension makes the road noise more pronounced but it's all worth it. It handles nicely. Anyone that complains about the road noise should buy a Buick and leave the pocket rockets to the car guys. Higher mpg than advertised - With more low-end torque, I avg 37 mpg by using 6th gear at 45 mph, even with revving up the hiway ramp.

After driving my 2012 Civic Si 4-door for nearly four years, I have yet to actually get tired of driving it. Whether it's the couple-mile commute to work, driving on some back roads or flying down the interstate, the car is and has always been a joy to drive. But there are a few slight issues that prevent it from getting a perfect five stars, and the chief "issue", if you could even call it one, would be the engine. There's nothing wrong with the Si's 2.4L engine, but it seems it could use some extra power. Off-the-line acceleration is a little lacking, but once you get past 2,000 rpm it becomes much more responsive. Passing power is phenomenal, especially when you downshift. That isn't to say the car feels under-powered in any way, it just seems that a few extra horses would have gone a long way to improve performance. Actual driving is wonderful...shifting is slick with the short-change six-speed manual and the steering is perfectly balanced...you never feel like the car will skid or slide on dry road (and it has never done that in my experience). Feel free to take this car and a winding road and feel how it stays firmly planted on the road, even at higher speeds. At that, it does have sport suspension and you WILL feel every bump and crack in every road and street you drive on. That's par for the course with most sporty cars, but it's especially jarring in this one (for what it's worth, I've only ever driven the car with all-season tires). As sporty and fun as this car is, it's still an incredibly practical car. It gets decent highway mpg and phenomenal city mpg thanks to the aforementioned manual transmission, and there's plenty of space in the front and back for passengers, although three adults in the back would be a squeeze. There's a decent amount of trunk space as well. Premium fuel is recommended, I'm sure you can get away with regular but if you want the best performance and fuel efficiency, you'll should stick to the more expensive gas. Maintenance-wise the car has been mostly perfect. Besides the usual tire rotations, oil changes, etc... the only issue has been rust in two of the tires' TPS causing a slow but steady leak over time. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but two out of the four tires is somewhat concerning. At that, if you see this car for sale, seriously consider buying it. While not perfect, you'll love it the second you get in the driver's seat.

Sorry guys but in terms of factory performance and day to day driving. This takes the cake. Yes it's a tight race on the streets (From a dig, though honda kids don't know anything but roll starts), but in the SCCA events I have used the 9th gen in, it blows my times from the 8th Gen I traded to get it. It is still more oriented to day to day driving so I get the pain. It doesn't feel Raw like the 8th Gen. Then again I said that when I traded my GSR for the 8th gen. This car is solid, has proven me well both on the track and on the streets.

A different Si but still a great car

I have to admit I was one of the naysayers. I have been leasing a 2008 Si Sedan and have enjoyed the car immensely. However, the stars aligned and I was presented with a deal that I couldn't resist. The new Si won be over in a couple of days. It's a bit more "mature", shall we say. Yes, it leans a bit more and it lacks the dramatic stratospheric top end but it's still a great drive: planted and solid with a progressive and fluid driver/vehicle connection. The new mid range punch is delicious and the transmission is another gem from Honda. I've even warmed up to the interior. Though the navigation system is a bit fussy most of the controls clear and straightforward.

I totaled my 2009 Civic Si Sedan, I was T-Boned by a full-size SUV doing 40+ MPH, the Civic Si held up superbly, so I knew I wanted another one. So now I have had my 2012 Civic Si Sedan for a bit and can comment on it over the 09. It's a big step up, not only in looks, but in power, the torque is very noticeable and the ride is smoother. Not as sporty as the 09 but grippier than a regular civic, my Wife enjoys the ride more and its more comfortable on the road. The upholstery... the '09 has softer plush-ier fabric, but I actually prefer the new fabric due to pet hair and it seems easier to clean as well. I miss the higher redline of the 09, but the '12 feels less of a "chore" to drive.

Car has been super reliable; needed only 3 batteries, 2-3 sets of tires - in a 10 year span I have only 41, 000 miles. Amsoil fluids when needed. My next car, as a 62 years old senior, is going to ne a LUXO-CRUISER, i.e., Lexus LS 430,2004 - 2006, for more comfort & less sporty, right?

What more evidence do you need that the 2012 Civic was a half-baked effort than Honda refreshing the car every year following 2012? Their only performance-driven model during this MY neutered the fun of the previous generation, put in the boring engine from the CR-V, and eliminated the light and nimble experience in favor of unconfident bodyroll and numb steering. The exterior is odd AND impractical. By extending the windshield angle and adding small quarter-panel glass to the side windows, the front pillar creates a front blind spot during turning of any kind. The car feels heavier than it should. Thanks Honda for destroying the resale value of the 2012s by immediately updating the interior/exterior the very next year. Worst of all these cars come with a faulty clutch plate with defective springs that loosen and make a horrible grinding noise at 30K mi. I was lucky enough to get it changed under warranty, but many owners weren't so lucky. Don't bother with this model, especially the 2012 version.

This car kills batteries like crazy & the dealership can't figure out what the problem is. They will just keep replacing the battery until the 3yr warranty is over & then it's on you. Make sure to have a jump box charged & ready with you to start this car monthly. If you let it sit more that 2-3 days the battery wont start it. The clutch makes a howling or grinding noise when accelerating from a stop in 1st gear. (started at about 20,000k mi) We were able to make this sound happen with a Honda Tech in the vehicle & they still are unwilling to fix the issue without saying we'll have to pay the tab. The rubber rotted out around the windows in 2 years & we had to fight with them to get it replaced. They said it was from being out in the sun too much in Arizona! In two years please! Then don't sell your crap cars in AZ. We bought this car brand new from Honda 4 years ago it has 40k on it now. Never buying Honda again its our first & last.

I've had my 2012 si sedan for just over 3 weeks and so far I love everything about it.. I feel safe knowing my daughter is in a good quality safe car. And when she's not in the car I get the capability to drive it how it was built to be driven.. I just passed the 1000 mile mark and now that's its broken in so to say I can actually see what its made of.. very happy I did my research and went to the dealership knowing exactly what I wanted and got just that. I'm a very happy camper. And I don't see the thrill going away any time soon.

This car has been nothing but amazing to me. I bought a 2012 si sedan off of a family friend that took great care it. had installed a skunk2 catless downpipe, with a skunk2 cold air intake and a borla exhaust. Had it tuned on hondata and opened the engine up more...I have had zero problems with this car, the engine is Rev happy which makes the car very fun to drive. Everywhere I have went I've gotten compliments about my car and the sound of it as well. I'm always told it doesn't sound like the typical rice burner. I bought the car with 130k and I'm currently at 174k. It runs amazing and strong. I do have the typical Honda paint fade but I'm going to have it repainted soon so I don't really care about it. I do definitely have future plans to build the motor and transmission some more

Fun to drive but even more fun in the corners

Amazing handling, love the k24 engine it delivers it's power in such a way that you almost get addicted to it's peppy 201hp and the 170 lbft of torque make for an amazing driving car. It's just so nimble and light feeling. It's almost like the cars an angry pug small yet shockingly quick and so light no corner intimidates you. I've owned my civic SI for only a few days and the first trip I took was to Hocking Hills and here with their 55mph speed limit and winding corners thought the forest make for such a perfect combination it's almost as fun getting there in this car as the attractions. Jeremy, Richard, and James should definitely come here for their next big grand tour event in subcompact sports cars like the civic SI and I guarantee by the time they've found samsquanch they would all be leaving in the same car. The civic SI. the one and only complaint I have is the fuel tank could be a little larger so that I can drive it more and fill it up less.

I have a highly earned respect for my 2012 Si coupe. I bought her new in 2012 and have had NO major technological issues, even at 130K miles on the original clutch plate. She deserves some respect Maybe I'm weird, but I honestly don't give a damn about how luxurious the interior is. If the vehicle is supposed to be focused on performance, let it focus on performance! I have zero brand loyalty. What I do have is car loyalty. My 2012 Si Coupe has easily been the best vehicle of my lifetime, and I've been around a LONG damn time. Update: I have now had the car for nearly 13 years, and it still runs like it was new. It has 140K miles on it, and has had no issues outside of standard maintenance. I also still think it is the best looking Si ever made.

I like my car, but it's broke down 3 times in the first 3,600 miles. The rocker arm bent the first, and the next time another rocker arm broke in two. This should not happen with a that only has 3,600 mile on it. Has anyone else had this issue?
