Low City Mileage

2006 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

Only have 1900 mile on car, but my city MPG has never been over 25, Usually 22-24. Hwy has been good average 40 to 42 MPG. My car was built in japan, no problems so far. hard to get used to the hood sight line, not being able to see end of hood is annoying, but i guess i'll get used to it. Overall very satisfied, except for the city MPG, which is not much of a factor since i am retired, The Great Hwy mileage comes in handy when we go to Arizona to see the kids.

Best Honda I've owned so far!

I bought my civic from a private party back in March of 2012 with 136,000 miles already on it. All I can say so far since I've owned it is one word... Awsome! Even with so many miles on it I've had zero major problems with it. Only minor problem so far was I had to replace the cowling along the base of the winshield due to the passenger side became unclipped and interfered with wiper arm operation. Bought and installed the part myself and problem gone. Also part of the plastic handle on the ebrake is coming lose but still works just fine. It's my first Civic, but I've always driven Hondas cause of their long history of durability. Way to go Honda!! Keep bringing us the good cars we love!!

Even though I have only had my cCic for 1 month, I have fallen in love with it. After driving a Saturn for 8 years, my Cvic drives like a dream. My first time driving on an interstate in my Cvic was amazing. The acceleration was smooth and you could barely feel the car shifting. Gas mileage is wonderful especially with the price of gas.

Bought the Civic a week ago and it is better than I ever expected. MPG has ranged from 34 to 39.5 and it is very comfortable to drive. I've put just over 1,300 miles on the vehicle in the first week and so far I'm very impressed. I have plenty of headroom even with the sunroof.

I have had my 06 Civic Sedan for about 2 months now. Have had no problems whatsoever and the fuel economy has been great (Avg 32 mpg city). Have not had achance to take a long trip as of yet but. Avg miles on a tank is around 350 or so. Also love that people at work seem to think I spent more then I did (shhh). GREAT Car for a GREAT price. Dont miss out.

Great car for all the features

I compared this car to the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, and Honda Accord. I chose this because of the combination of features that no other car presently has for the $. There is no other car that has the combination of this one's mileage, newer styling, reliability, expected resale value, fun to drive, and size to compare with it. The Honda Accord needs a long overdue total redesign by now as I easily chose the new Civic over the Accord as the Accord didn't have the style and sportiness of the Civic. This new style may be the same style for the next 5 years. It's difficult to find a sensible reason not to own this vehicle. Be prepared to pay close to sticker because of demand.

RATING 3/4 of 5 - DX-G, MAN. TRANS., CANADA BUILT, 27K MILES. Overall a good/very good car for city/highway driving. PLUS: Styling, Fuel Efficiency, Maintenance/Reliability, Road Feel/Turning, Drives Straight, No Vibration, Starts at - 45! Great for shorter drivers, Fun 2 Drive. MINUS: Fit & Finish - paint, plastics used (scratches easily), Some parts slightly misaligned, Front end is low to ground; some people may have difficulty entering/exiting car; if not aware, may easily hit concrete barriers while parking, trunk space good for small jobs, Suspension has started to squeak over small bumps, Factory tires will need to be replaced due to softer factory tires.

I have had the car for 2 days and 300 miles. I want to bring it back! Drivers seat extremely uncomfortable. Cabin noise excessive at highway speed. Doors and trunk do not close easily. Speedometer distracting. Radio sounds as if I'm under water. Headlights are weak. Driving off the dealer lot a loud rattle in the dash stared as well as the airbag warning light coming on. I had much higher expectations for this car.

Omg I love this car, but don't tell my husband!! He picked out the car and then brought me down to the dealership and I told him it was too small (we have 3 children), but it turns out it is just right. I love the placement of the speedometer and the comfort of the seats. It definitely gets up and goes!! It turn corners very nicely and I can make a u-turn and not run over the curbs.

Have had my CIVIC LX for 28 months/ 53,000 miles on odometer. As mentioned in my previous entries the car still rides roughly even on new tires. Rattles in dash, rear deck area. WHY does this car have SO MUCH ROAD NOISE? Clunky transmission-still-now has a new 'whine' to it. Still gets approx 34 MPG, though. KBB, NADA, Black Book value ahead of my pay off. I'm proud of that. Thinking of 09 Corolla.

I had a hard time picking out a car in this class. Dollar for dollar though the best deal was this car. Yes the standard price is higher, but after you factor in all the features I paid about 300 less. I got a more relable car and I get excellent gas mileage. The dash seems sort of weird at first but it is actually nice so don't have to look down as much

We went to buy a certified Accord, but after seeing the poor selection ended up test driving a new Accord and then the Civic. Hands down the Civic won due to styling, mileage, features and price. The Accord just felt it should be driven by someone of an older generation. No problems as of yet, plenty of room and gas mileage has been hovering between 31 & 37 mpg depending on amount of short trips. Feels solid and built with high quality materials. And crash test results are excellent.

I've owned my car for fifteen days now. It is very comfortable. I feel like I'm driving a rental car everyday. My nephew says I drive slower in the new car. Actually I driving the same speed but you can't tell because it is so comfortable inside. You don't hear the engine. I couldn't even hear a train coming the other day. If the lights hadn't started flashing, I may have gotten hit. It doesn't accelerate as fast as my old car (Integra GSR) but I will get used to it one day. The title of my review is safey first because the safety features were what sold me on purchasing this car. I also save a lot on my car insurance.

This is the 5th Civic I have owned over the past 20 years and the best one yet! I started out looking for a 35 MPG car and found one almost as fun to drive as the Miata I once owned! The smooth, quite acceleration, handling, and futuristic interior combined with fuel economy make this a great choice for under $19,000. Some parts a bit flimsy... interior door panels, rear seat construction, hard plastic dash top. Otherwise a great commuter that will make want to take the back roads on the way home!

Best car for the bucks. Great pick-up and ride. Love all the standard features. Wish the stereo had a little more thump but I'll replace the back speakers with a pair of 6 X 9s and a small amp and enjoy. Other cars in the class don't come close to this one. Honda hit a home run! I went back to Honda this time and won't go anywhere else in the future.

After 8 months and 11,000 miles, I'm still thrilled with my purchase. It's very simple to drive, all controls are handy and well laid out, it has a nice ride, it has the power when you need it, and it brakes well. Doesn't hurt that it looks good. My only complaint is I'm personally getting lower MPG than advertised (only getting around 26 normally, best was 31 on pure highway). I'm also wondering about the tank size. I've driven it down to the last dot of the gas gauge, had the extra light on announcing low gas for many miles, but when I filled up it only took 10.4 gallons to fill. Where's the other 2.8 gallons this car claims to have (13.2 gallon tank listed)?

I test drove an Accord and a Civic with my wife. We could not tell the difference between the two. So we saved a lot of money by buying the Civic. Our intention was to step up from our 2002 Civic and buy an Accord. Now that we have had it for a while, my wife who drives it every day (48 miles) loves it. It clearly is the car of the year from Motor Trend magazine.

I looked at the Mazda3, the Tc and the Civic. The quality of the Civic was what got me. It felt like a baby Lexus inside. I would rather have had amber illumination for the instrument panel and the drivers seat is too big for my 5'1" frame. The lumbar support is way too high and the head rest is too far forward but I love the manual pump lever to raise the seat and all of the nook and crannies are excellent! I wish for an outside temp, but the dash controls for the stereo and the air are beautiful. The ivory interior is stunning with the varying shades of ivory - very classy. The lines of the exterior are so fresh. Mighty peppy too. I wish I had farther to drive to work! Fun!!!!!!!!

Our 14th honda since 1980. Could possibly be the most fun to drive one. We have 1200 miles since 9-17-5.High mileage 44.6 low mileage 29 mpg. It handles like slot car and performs well even in rain. The 1.8 engine is a great combination of performance/economy. An effortless high speed cruiser. Navigation is great. I'm 6.2 325lbs and can sit behind myself. Body appears to be Acura tl tsx style. The new civic sedan looks great. Love the airbags and safety features. My wife loves HER new car. Rides almost as nice as our 2005 Accord sedan with leather does. It handles better. I hope it's as great a car as our little 1995 Civic hatchback. It has been very quiet with sunroof open and windows cracked open

I come from a ten Honda family. My parents have 2005 models of the Accord and Oddyssey. I've driven 3 Civics before, and this one bypasses them all. Excellent maneuverability, gas mileage and acceleration make this car a pleasure to take on my long weekend trips to visit my girlfriend. The stock sound system is great, and the MP3 capabilities give a whole new meaning to the words "Mix CD". You also would not expect such comfort for a car of this size, and being used to a '93 LeSabre, I am very happy with the head and legroom that the Civic provides. The standard safety features also provide a peace of mind when on the road.

My new civic is the most fun I've ever had on four wheels! It gets fantastic gas mileage (mid 30s in town and 40 on the highway). I have had it in several inches of Pennsylvania snow and it handles very well, but thats because I replaced the factory tires right away. The seats are comfortable and can easily accomodate my brother who is over 6' tall. It's also loaded with safety features... check out the crash test ratings! Great value for the money, take it out for a test drive!!!

I have had this car for nearly 4 months and am so happy with it. Yeah, it gets the stares and every person who's sat in it talks about the interior. I have to say that, for the money I spent, there is NO BETTER CAR than this Civic (and I considered the Mazda3 and Ford Focus). I spent months researching, test driving, and learning what I could to make an informed decision. I mean, come on... we're talking a major investment. 4 months and about 4500 miles later, I'm grinning.

Driven the Civic for 2 months now and find it to be a wonderful car all-around, fuel economy at about 42 mpg at 70 mph with the A/C on! Car still gets looks in parking lots and at stoplights, even had one photographing it while at a rest stop on highway. Young daughter loves to sit in centre of back seat as it has the 3-point belt and she's able to see out the extremely large windshield easily. Car sticks to road with Turanza 55R16 tires and handles like a dream. First "import" I've ever owned and after one ride each with our elderly fathers, they saw how great this car is.

The Civic is a great car, fun to drive and comfortable. I use it for a long highway commute and am still very pleased. It feels solid and stable, has all the safety features. The dash is laid out beautifully and I love the speedometer over the steering wheel. The car is a little low in front (for cement barriers) and rear visibility for backing up could be better. Mileage is about what's expected (mid- 30's for highway). A nice little car. I highly recommend it.

Traded in the 05 civic 2 door. was real pleased with the 05,but needed 4 doors. I looked around quite a bit and narrowed it down to two models; the 06 Jetta and the 06 Mazda 3.I went with the Honda because of its great reputation to building a quality product and because the gas milage was better than the other two.Iliked the Jetta better as far as trunk space and the "German" engineering and the Mazda 3 was a blast to drive but the Jetta was a considerly more expensive auto than the Civic and the Mazda only lost out because as I said the gas mileage and reputation of the Honda in my perception is the best. The Honda is not a zoom zoom car but is is upscale for a auto in this catagory.

My parents bought the '06 Civic for my sister in '05. From my driving experience, the car handles way better than my '07 Camry. What catches my attention the most is the low fuel consumption. My sister now lives in San Diego and she gets some pretty darn good MPGs when driving back to LA (averaging 35 MPG highway). The Civic may not be the speedy type (hence if you do want speed, check out the sporty Si), but getting from point A to a far away point B, it gets the job done saving you lots of money while you laugh at all the other gas guzzling SUVs.

Don't let the title fool you. I'm 6'5" tall and have plenty of room in this car. I bought my '06 EX a year ago. I haven't had any problems so far. Some people complain that the seats are not comfortable. No car is perfect and at under $20,000 the seats aren't too bad. Everything on the dash is right where its supposed to be...ergonomics are just right. About 55 hwy/45 cty and I'm getting 35 mpg avg(I kept track of all but 2 tanks since purchase) The main, if only, gripe I have so far is the tires don't last much past 25k miles. ***I also test drove a Mazda3 hatchback found the two cars to be comparable***

Car is way better than previous models. however, the door handle's plastic under part scratches very easily, and when getting into vehicle it's easy to bang your knee cap or shin bone on dash end. HURTS!! i'm averaging 29.5 mpg city/hghwy and not the 40 mpg highway as listed. all other features are awesome. in general the car is comfortable, very practical, great resale value and built quality. i traded an 04 mustang gt convertible for this, and i don't regret it. I traded in my 2005 Scoin xB and got what I paid for the ugly little thing, so it was a no brainer. I really love the driving dymamics if this vehicle. It really feels like you are driving a sports car, it absolutely handles great. The 5 sp Auto allows the RPM to stay low even @ 80 mph, this keeps the noise down in the cockpit. I really like the longer wheelbase, it helps smooth out the ride better than any other small car I have ever driven. Then there is the safety, 7 airbags, UHSS, ABS... There simply is no other car in this class that offers as much as this car does. Don't forget the resale!

the 2006 civic is a great leap forward from it's predescesor. the car has ample power for getting on the kill or be killed freeways of houston and brakes that will stop you on a dime and give you 9 cents change. the other evening i wanted to make a u-turn on a major street at a stop light and found myself nearly kissing my backside. The mileage is as advertised, our gas bill was reduced 65% over our nissan maxima...happy here!

I've only had the car for about a week, but I'm thoroughly impressed. The 8th generation Civic is everything I could've imagined and more...it's WAY too much "bang for your buck". I think the major improvements over the 7th gen Civic (which I was set on before hearing the "redesign" rumor in February) are the two-tier dash, backseat room/comfort, maintenance minder system, engine performance/efficiency, and the elegant yet aggressive styling. Just ask my friends--I'm like an unofficial spokesman. This car is an automotive marvel.

This is really a fun toy. It's so sleek from the outside you think it's some fighter plane or something. Mine can shift with just two fingers. it's damn too good of a car

Owned two '04 Civics and now have two '06s. Much better car in '06 even though we really liked the '04 too. Ride and safety is improved, gas milage is about the same (36 out of the box) and the new digital dash is very pleasing. We love the new Civic!

We purchased this vehicle brand new. At 14,000 miles the car needed new tires. At 30,000 miles the car needed new tires. At 64,000 miles the car needs new tires. We have been told the factory installed high performance kit does not have enough adjustment to properly align the car. The specialist told us that. Chezik- Bell in Iowa City, Iowa and American Honda will not even look at it, or listen to the "owners" of the car. Poor service - Poor management. Never have we had such problems with any other car than a HONDA. Will NEVER purchase another one. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this Civic for work when my daily drive became 55 miles each way. 25 freeway and 30 mountain switchbacks. The fuel savings have paid for my car. The only problems in 80000 miles have been the sun visors and the OEM Bridgestone tires wearing out. The engine performance as well as the fuel economy improves with the engine RPM. Keep the engine up over 2500 and the car performs well. Run it at 3500 and it really scoots. I put on some Perreli P3000 (now 5000) tires increasing the handling and doubling the tires life. The only drawbacks to this car are it seems to be invisible sometimes in freeway traffic probably due to its low roof line and it has no room for snow chains if they are required.
