Best One Yet
I only had this car a few days and I am very impressed. This car is the best buy for the money. The Civic handles great and quickly responds when called upon. The interior is comfortable and spacous with lots of trunk space as well. i will never buy anything else but Honda products. I'm sold.
Comfortable, Quick, Great MPG!
I replaced my 2001 Accord with the 2006 Civic looking for better MPG and handling; I got what I was looking for! It was a strange looking car at the time but since then more and more cars have the bullet shaped frame.
2006 Civic Sedan
Incredibly impressed with this car. Thought I was buying an economy, dull car. This car drives like a formula one sports car. Great on gas, handles like a dream, roomy for such a small car.
first honda ever....am sold
car drove out excellent .....held the road and is very positive in traffic. Shift pattern is soooo smooth...engine is very quiet and heater will burn you out of there......I simply love this car.....
Very, Very Nice!!!
Just bought this car for my son that is away @ college. He will be driving it around 200 miles each way to and from school about every 3 weeks. This car fit the bill perfectly. He loves it and so does his parents (safety, reliability, economy. Considered the Mazda3 also but the new Civic edged it out. Have added aftermarket wheels and window tint (car is silver) and it looks like an Acura. Very nice looking! Again, very impressed with this car.
Nobody beats Honda!
I purchased my Honda in late 2005 when this new body style had just came out. I absolutely love my car. I have three kids and while we are outgrowing the car, I am purchasing an Odyssey and my husband will take this one over. We also had a Honda Accord lease that we are turning in this week. We love Honda's and that is all we have owned in the last 10 years. I have had no problems with my civic, I have almost 70K miles on it now and I have replaced the tires since I drive so much. But it is fun to drive, it is a beautiful car and the gas mileage is awesome as we all know. I would not ever hesitate to purchase a Honda! Plus I have 3 uncles that are certified Honda mechanics so thats a bonus!
Better than I ever expected
I wasn't too excited at the thought of owning another civic but the 2006 is almost like another class of Honda. It's an excellent looking car both inside and out and feels way more solid than my previous Civic with a lot more to offer. NAV is a great feature that I abosolute love! Had to put money down on one being built since a NAV sedan was in short supply. A great car, you can't go wrong.
First Honda & I Am A Fan
This is my first honda and let me just sum it up with one word - Impressed. This vehicle not only looks good it feels good to drive and its fun. My first fill up averaged 32mpg not quite the 40mpg but I have done a lot of stop and go driving and at 32mpg I'm impressed. This car is not only the safest car it is fun to drive and nice to look at, the mp3/wma player just add's to that fun. I plan on owning this car for along time to come and pass it on to my now 9 yr old daughter when she is 16. Thanks Honda for making a product that is not only fuel efficent but safe and reliable all into one.
What big little car!
I traded in a 1999 VW Jetta VR-6 for my new Civic EX sedan a week ago, and am very impressed with how BIG this car is on the inside, and how much storage space there is. I bet there's at least an extra 1" of front leg room and 2" more rear knee room than the Jetta. The Civic is reasonably peppy, and corners very well. I just wish the ride was a bit more supple and there was a little less road noise. I've owned two Hondas before, and expect this one to be typically reliable and long-lasting.
Civic
The car handles much better then the four other makes of vehicles I test drove before buying the Honda Civic. It is pleasure to drive and much more responsive then I thought it could be. The gas mileage is great and the navigation system I wouldn't do without.
What SUV???
What a surprise. Who knew that Honda would make a car with the tech features I demand, the mileage I need and price it at $21,100. I traded my luxury SUV with Nav, Power everything and 14MPG for this little "economy car" that gets 38MPG Hwy at 75MPH. I literally test drove the fresh off the truck Civic 1 block and told the salesman it was sold. Great car. It actually feels less like a Japanese econobox and more like a euro-inspired sedan with tight handling thanks to the 50-series standard tires. The Navigation is better than my Infiniti's and it doesn't break the bank at the pump. Buy it and pay cash. Take the rest of the money and invest it!
Paint Quality Standards?
Love the interior and exterior styling, love the MPG, but I absolutely hate the fact that the front and rear bumpers do not match the rest of the vehicle. I purchased the EX Sedan in alabaster silver as I like light exterior colors and do not like brown interiors. All of the silver and other light to medium colored Civics on the dealer lots had this issue. Due to needing a vehicle immediately, I went ahead with the purchase. However, every time I look at the vehicle, I am disappointed by how bad the mismatch make the vehicle look. I can't help but question Honda's paint standards. Very disappointing. Honda - get it fixed!!!!
2006 Honda Civic 4-Dr Navi Auto
Excellent value from a vehicle that only continues to exceed all of our expectations. Fuel economy is outstanding, averaging 34 true MPG in 75/25 city/highway use. Handling is on par with many sports cars, yet roomy enough for 4 adults in total comfort. Performance is surprisingly good in relation to the fuel economy. While not a car for the dragstrip (that would be the Si) it easily climbs to highway speeds quickly, feels safe in passing situations and climbs Colorado mountain passes without problems. While this vehicle is currently driven most often by my teen-age son and daughter, I believe I have seen the future. I will soon be trading my Lexus SUV for a 2007 Honda Civic.
New Super Civic
First glance I had of the new 2006 Civic was love at first sight. Its even better driving the new Civic. All control are readily accessible and the new "two tier" insturment panel is superb (reminds me of my HUD on my Corvette). You never had to take your eyes off the road. Straight off the showroom I got 38 MPG the first tank. Since they are hard to come by, I see a lot of people eyeing it wondering what it is. If you're looking for styling, reliability, gas mileage, and people staring, buy a new Civic (I'm sure you'll have to order it), they don't stay on the lot. Love it better than the 2001 2-door Accord I had.
Try to find a better car at this price point
Having owned three civics I must say that the 2006 is the coolest looking one yet. Performance wise it's no sports car but that's ok, I'm sure it will provide years of faithful service. Isn't that the point of an econo car?
Where is the reliability?
Bought 2006 Civic LX because of its incredible reliability history but having a real hard time keeping this newly designed car healthy. Got tired of taking my new car to dealership almost every other week. I have already gone to the dealer to fix the passenger door, passenger seat sliding assembly, recalled accelerator padel, falling steering column cover, unfoldable backseat and today - both rear shock absorbers are leaking alarming amount of fluid - need to replace both. Got so freaked out, purchased the extended warranty as I have to buy it before 6000 miles. God knows whats next! Am I the only unlucky one? This is extremely poor quality control by Honda for a redesigned car.
3rd Honda
This is a great car. Room, features, styling are awesome! Buy the Navigation its worth it. This is my third Honda and my 2nd Civic (175,000 miles, oil changes, tune-ups and brakes only, no repairs)! Very satisfied.
No Complaints Here!!
I love my 2006 Honda Civic. It's a comfortable car to drive. It actually does great on gas which is quite helpful these days.
Bad in Wisconsin Snow!!
I bought my Civic because I had always heard they were great cars. This car drives great unless there is snow. It is not good in the snow at all. It constantly fishtails and I do not feel safe at all. I think this would be a great car if I lived in FL but would not recommend for the northern states that get a lot of snow!!
The Perfect Car
I had read all the good and bad about the new Civic coupe, I ran out and bought a Raylle Red, with Navi, I love this car, MPG is about 35, which is awesome. The lighting and Navi are the best I have found yet, and no problems to date.
Awesome & SAFE
This car is very cool. My first Honda and probably will not be my last. The HP is a little on the low side but performed well on a long road trip. My story has a sad ending but I was sandwiched by a truck and a SUV. The front bumper was Impailed on the SUV trailer hitch. So the car V'd in. The back also took a massive hit. Im 6'4 and the end result was I was able to walk away with minor neck and back pain. Kudos to Honda for making a car that could withstand that type of impact.
The car is great! Bridgestone tires awfu
I like everything about the Civic EX. The Bridgestone tires Honda put on it are pretty bad though! The dealer said Honda got a big discount on Bridgestone tires and switched from Michlein. I took the Bridgestone tires off and replaced them with Michlein Sport tires that Honda puts on the Civic SI. It now tracks and holds the road MUCH better. Dont expect much from the Bridgestone tires on water or Snow....you will be in deep trouble. This was my 20th Honda/Acura product!!
Stand-out for Best Value
I've had the Civic for a couple of weeks and love it. Dealer had a tough time finding a manual in Atomic Blue, so I took the automatic...great move. Compared several others and found it by far the best value for performace, styling, saftey and MPGs. Very distinctive car to drive. Everyone in awe of MPGs (especially coworkers with trucks and SUVs!) Two tier instruments fun and practical. Airbags and safety features abound.
I though Honda was good... but... :(
Beautiful, confortable but not reliable at all... A/C condenser supposedly punctured by a "Road Debris" that didn't even leave a dent??? and therefore not covered by warranty. I feel completely ripped off. For me this is result of poor design and poor materials... how big a pebble has to be to puncture a condensor and not leave a visible dent??? How many times will this happen again? I am done with Honda... first and last..
I still have fun driving this car!
I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic in 2006 right after the new body style came out. I had 2 cars breaking down traded them both in for my Civic. Except for normal maintenance I have had no problems with the car at all. I still have fun driving it! This is an excellent gas miles car as well average 38 on the hwy and 32 in the city. I am a Honda fan for life I just purchased a 2009 Ridgeline cause I love that truck. My Honda Civic will be with me until it dies and maybe even after it does.
Solid car, but doesn't live up to rep.
Great looking car inside and out.My gas mileage is very poor.Started out averaging 24-25 in city, now getting only 21-22 at 2000 miles on odometer.I hope there is something wrong to explain this. Where is remote key fob trunk release on LX model? Guess Honda cheaped out.Stupid power window lock on driver control. Besides locking passengers from operating windows, the driver is locked out from operating all except his window. So many small features left out that are on cheaper Chevy's and Saturns.I am rather disappointed in this car for the price.Glad they have a history of good resale, hope this model doesn't ruin that.A/C Fizzles out when step on gas and even fizzles when at idle.
Good Commuter Car
Car is a great commuter car. Comfy and good steering feel. I drive 50% Highway/City. I've owned the car for 3 months now and I have 2 complaints. I'm only averaging 27.0 mpg driving normally. Trying to be as light footed as possible, I managed 29.8mpg. Driving agressively gets me 25mpg. I took it to the dealer and they insist it's my driving. Nothing wrong with the alignment. The other problem is the really cheap sun visor. When I move it to the side to block the sun. It feels really cheap and when I turn left slightly faster than normal, it swings around and knocks me in the head. This has happened to me over 6 times and now I have to use my left hand to hold it when I turn
3rd Civic - 1st love
Rides a little more stiffly than my 1997 Civic EX 2 door. It's like driving a high performance living room couch around. Friends and family all love the extra room, and since hardly anyone else has it, it is a conversation piece. Am still getting used to it, but can tell you I love it already. The engineering and design on this new model are breathtaking.
The best commuter car gets better.
I traded an 03 Civic LX for an 06. Honda addressed the all the areas where the older Civic needed updating. Power, the new motor is amazing; better mileage (I got 42 MPG on the first tank), smoother and more power! The manual says 10,000 miles between oil changes, save money on gas and oil! Style, updated inside and out; the aerodynamic design of the body is complemented perfectly with the futuristic/functional design inside. Safety, stanard anti lock brakes and side impact air bags. The steering wheel with the tilt and telescoping adjustments and drivers seat hieght adjustments make it easy to find the perfect driving position and adjust your position when needed.
My First Civic
I needed a dependable car for work that had good gas mileage. I usually purchase larger cars - the gas guzzlers made me look at hybrids which lead me to the Civic. The difference in gas mileage versus the price difference for the car, coupled with the loss in trunk space as a result of the hybrid, lead me to the gas powered automatic. So far I can say, while I think this car could be my last Civic (built well) it will be the begining of my relationship with Honda and the Civic.
A lot of noise
It was fun the first few weeks then in 2 months I started to hear rattling noise if I drive at constant speed 35 mph on flat road and louder noise in the right side when I drive on rough road. The dealer changed the right engine mount which took care of the noise for 2 weeks then the annoying rattling noise is back. Last week the windshield wiper started to kind of drag and shake and make a terrible noise regardless if it's wet or dry. Someone may think it's subtle but I had cars before..Never like this it's brand new 2006 with all of the above!!!!!!!!!!!
The Car to Buy!!!
First time Honda owner. The car is excellent and well worth the money. The redesign is superb. Handles excellently and a very quiet ride. I will never buy anything but a honda again. Very easy to see why it is Motor Trend Car of the Year for 2006.
Last Honda I'll ever buy
Must be another version of the 2006 Civic I don't have. What's wrong? Unacceptable radio reception. Most uncomfortable seat I have ever had in an automobile. Auto 5spd is a disaster around town (5th gear 1K rpm @35 mph, give me a break!). Front driver side visibility is terrible especially when made worse by poor wiper blade coverage. And the wipers are also incredibly noisy. Plastic dip stick, please!
Touchdown!!
Honda scores a touchdown with the new Civic. The build quality, reliability, gas mileage, and safety are excellent and typical Honda. The exterior design may take a little getting used to as does the interior with the two-tier dash design. But, I'm used to it and I love it. What I also love is the surprisingly fun-to-drive factor. While the car is no Mazda3, it's sportier than I expected, especially with the 5spd. manual. I would recommend this car to anyone. Honda has done a fantastic job with the 2006 Civic.
Great Car - EXCEPT.
I've had this car for almost two years and I still love it except for ONE thing. At 25,000 miles I had to replace all four tires (Bridestone Tourenza) because of flat spots, cupping and feathering. Bridgestone basically said "tough luck" and Honda said that it's obviously a tire problem. In researching this situation I am not alone with this problem. It IS the cars fault due to some faulty struts and suspension components (mostly at the rear). Now I have 4 premium Michelin's and, believe me, I'm keeping a close eye on them for irregular wear. Other than that, this is a great car to drive and is fantastic on gas! I always get 38-40 mpg on the highway, even at 75 mph with the AC on! Nice!
Great mpg - lacking on weight
For the most part, the Honda Civic LX has been a fun car to drive, great mpg, 30-33 in town and 40-44 on highway. Almost as good as my motorcycle. Driving in windy and snow conditions can be tricky so slower speeds are the answer to keeping it in total control. If going on long distances in the winter, be prepared to drive 10 mph lower than other cars. Windy conditions can make you hold on pretty tightly. Light on the rear end makes snow driving a big hairy. The bucket seats can be a bit uncomfortable on long distance driving. Otherwise, it's a great car and a money saver.
Like the civic sedan a lot
Bought an LX then added a moon roof. Have put 2200 miles on it already, commuting 50 miles a day & take on some business trips. Great little car! I am 6'3" and found this is one of very few small cars I fit in comfortably. Drives & handles great. Mileage is averaging 35-37 commuting, got 41 on a short interstate trip. Well built, have had no problems. For the money a well built, great driving vehicle. Expect to have for numerous years. Power is good for the size/price. Have hauled 4 adults comfortably
5th Civic, big jump in refinement.
This is my 5th Honda Civic. My 04 model was nice, but the refinement in ride, handling, quality, of this vehicle is a huge jump. This could easy have an Acura badge on it and cost thousands more. I am a very particular person and I have found little to complain about with this car. Alot of my previous grips with the 04 model have been met and or exceeded with the 06. I am very happy with the build and quality of this vehicle. No squeks or rattles, it drives smoothly, steering perfectly, its beyond anything I would expect at $18k, most near luxury cars do not feel this good.
Great Little Car!
Awesome car. Only drawback is the driver's head restraint is a little too close. The back of your head touches when you're sitting in driver seat. Not adjustable forward and back, only up and down. Otherwise, awesome car!!!
For $20,000 it's a great car!
Getting 36-38 mpg on all interstate driving, love the cockpit style gauges and factory sound is good quality. I'm 6 ft tall and have no problems with my knee hitting the parking brake. Through 3 1/2 months of owning and I haven't had one single issue with any part of the car. There is a little road noise, but turning up the radio one notch covers it up. Love the sunroof and overall look of the outside of the car. Surprising power when speeding up to enter freeway.
4-dr 2006 Honda Civic with Nav.system
Enjoyable car to drive. Outstanding characteristic is the absolute quiet inside the car. Your eye picks up the high level of interior quality. Seats are comfortable and supportive for my aching back. The more I view the new dash board with its two tier instrument panel, the more I appreciate the design. I find the voice-activated navigation system so useful that I use it even when not absolutely needed. The system and voice start your radio, change stations, give time as well as how long and how far to your destination. The exterior design is different and eye-catching for a Honda Civic, especially the unusually wide windshield. A minor bone of contention is the bounciness when going over bumps.
Wonderful car
This lovely new Civic is surprisingly roomy on the inside, with its cab- forward design. The driver's controls are very well designed and everything is within easy reach and control. I do about 70 city and 30 highway driving and I'm getting an average of 36 mpg. I totally agree with Justin on those getting bad mileages--improve your driving skills and lower your speed! Case in point: Driving on country highways at the 55 mph speed limit, I have been getting a consistent 41 mpg on my Civic. Driving at 75 mpg on the interstate, it quickly drops to 37 mpg. Overall, it drives well, handles well, has enough power, and most importantly, looks great and is fun to drive.
Civic not living up to Honda expectation
I traded in my 2004 Mazda3s sedan for a 2006 Honda Civic EX sedan because Honda are supposed to be more reliable than Mazdas and the Civic is supposed to get a lot better gas mileage than the Mazda3. So far the Civic has gotten the same gas mileage as the Mazda3 and the Civic has had way more problems in the 3 months of ownership than the Mazda3 did in 2 years of ownership. Honda needs to get it's quality control act back to what it used to be.
Great Car!
Bought the Civic a week ago and it is better than I ever expected. MPG has ranged from 34 to 39.5 and it is very comfortable to drive. I've put just over 1,300 miles on the vehicle in the first week and so far I'm very impressed. I have plenty of headroom even with the sunroof.
New CiviCs Rule
I have had my 06 Civic Sedan for about 2 months now. Have had no problems whatsoever and the fuel economy has been great (Avg 32 mpg city). Have not had achance to take a long trip as of yet but. Avg miles on a tank is around 350 or so. Also love that people at work seem to think I spent more then I did (shhh). GREAT Car for a GREAT price. Dont miss out.
Great car for all the features
I compared this car to the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, and Honda Accord. I chose this because of the combination of features that no other car presently has for the $. There is no other car that has the combination of this one's mileage, newer styling, reliability, expected resale value, fun to drive, and size to compare with it. The Honda Accord needs a long overdue total redesign by now as I easily chose the new Civic over the Accord as the Accord didn't have the style and sportiness of the Civic. This new style may be the same style for the next 5 years. It's difficult to find a sensible reason not to own this vehicle. Be prepared to pay close to sticker because of demand.
Not what I expected
I have had the car for 2 days and 300 miles. I want to bring it back! Drivers seat extremely uncomfortable. Cabin noise excessive at highway speed. Doors and trunk do not close easily. Speedometer distracting. Radio sounds as if I'm under water. Headlights are weak. Driving off the dealer lot a loud rattle in the dash stared as well as the airbag warning light coming on. I had much higher expectations for this car.
2006 Honda Civic
I love this car, it drives like a much more expensive car because it drives quietly and smoothly. It also feels spacious in the front.
LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg I love this car, but don't tell my husband!! He picked out the car and then brought me down to the dealership and I told him it was too small (we have 3 children), but it turns out it is just right. I love the placement of the speedometer and the comfort of the seats. It definitely gets up and goes!! It turn corners very nicely and I can make a u-turn and not run over the curbs.
1st Civic
We went to buy a certified Accord, but after seeing the poor selection ended up test driving a new Accord and then the Civic. Hands down the Civic won due to styling, mileage, features and price. The Accord just felt it should be driven by someone of an older generation. No problems as of yet, plenty of room and gas mileage has been hovering between 31 & 37 mpg depending on amount of short trips. Feels solid and built with high quality materials. And crash test results are excellent.
