I never thought I would drive a Honda
A few months ago, my husband and I were test driving cars. He loves Honda. (I had a Ford Focus ZX3 that I just loved, but he felt it was too small for him. He is 6'2".) We test drove the 2005 Civic EX, and I didnt like anything about it. Then, we saw an ad for the new 2006 Civics, and we decided to give it a try. Wow! Am I glad we did. We bought one that day. I truly enjoy driving it in traffic or on the highway. The gas mileage has been excellent. The engine is so quiet. The performance of this car is outstanding. I get looks all the time from other Honda drivers, checking out the new, sleek style of the Civic. I absolutely LOVE this car!
Overall Happiness
Overall, I am very pleased. I was afraid it would not be roomy enough, but I was pleasantly surprised! Much more room than I thought. Only negative thing is you cannot see the front of your car. Makes it hard to pull into garage , but I will adjust! Many more positives! The reputation of HONDA, also is a great plus ~ the maintenance of the vehicle is easy also! Plan on keeping it for many years!!
Watta Car
I always do thorough research before buying and eliminated most cars with my first criteria for excellent MPG. (30 town/40 hwy minimum) I then started test driving various models from various mfg's over the course of two months. Many cars have very good ratings for MPG, reliability, etc. but the '06 Civic was so far ahead of the others on a visceral, fun-to-drive level it was no contest. Loved it! In this price range the Civic interior (including the dash) has a more upscale feel than other cars. Co-workers, friends, & family have been uniform in admiring the car for looks and performance. Excellent commuter and good in the snow.
Great Car
Love the car. Its been fun to drive and exceeded my expectations.
true happiness
this is the third civic i have personally owned and am extremely thirilled to have bought this new civic..what a car. Without a doubt one of the best cars in this planet for the price and fuel efficiency and performance. Not to forget the leg room.. very spacious.. you have to get it to know what i'm talking about.. and if u drive a manual transmision get that.. very sporty.. have fun and enjoy.. byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Smoooth
On my first long distance trip, an impressive 40.5 MPG, and it cruises quietly and comfortably at 75 mph on only 2400 RPM. Honda got the perfect formula for a small car. I was considering bigger cars, but end up with the Civic for the mileage and absolutely happy with the choice. It's as quiet as the mid-size car with the near hybrid milage performance and Honda reliability. You can't go wrong buy this car...Love it
Civic snow dilemma
My Honda has been reliable in fair weather and rain, but snow, I find it a problem to get up some of the smallest hills. I bought a manual transmission hoping I would have more control in the snow. I thought it was the tires, so I bought new tires, still have the same problems. Also, I open the window and water seems to pour in on the controls when it's raining and rolling the window down usually has cleared the windows in past vehicles, but it doesn't, seems the like the rubber squeegy is on the wrong side of the window? Had a ford contour w/ no problems in snow.
The car you can trust !
Very fun to drive, miles improved laterly . my first tank average 27mpg , 2nd tank 29mpg.... and now i got 33mpg. Engine runs quiet and smooth 78mph at 2500rpm. I love this car very much
No more American cars 4 me..
This was my 4th car to own & my first brand new one. Previously I had only owned American cars & then decided that it was time for a change. This car is amazing. I wouldn't change a thing about it. It gets great gas mileage, is fun to drive, & is very reliable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great car. The week after I got mine, my boss showed up 2 work in one...it has it's own style, class & is just an amazing machine.......
first new car purchase
Before I went to the Honda dealership I had no idea what the new civic looked like. I seen it, test drove it and bought it the next day. I've owned a grand am, mystique, eclipse covertable and now this honda. This is by far the best built and fuel efficent car I've had. My only regret is not getting the better wheels that the ex has. I bought this car on Honda's reputation for durability. I plan to have this car for 10 years. Excellent gas mileage!! Gas is going up, but I don't care with the gas mileage this honda gets. I love it.
Love this car!
After driving a 2-dr, 2-seat v-6 gas- guzzling Dodge Dakota Sport Manual for 9-years and 149.5k miles while such little luxuries as Auto trans, CD players, power windows, and keyless entry passed me by, I decided it was time to get something fuel efficient, reliable, and safe (and not to mention the all-important-to-me envt'l responsibility). My research all pointed to the new Civic, but knowing my mother's '98 Civic kept me from being excited about it. But lo and behold, I only had to drive this sweet, peppy little car for 5 minutes to feel completely at home and even to fall in love even. It strikes a magnificent chord between fun and practicality and I look forward to driving it.
Great little car
Fun to drive, great comfort, and I love all the wonderful features, very responsive, can't wait to take a long trip.
Best Value
Fantastic mileage (34mpg city, 47mpg hwy so far), vastly improved shoulder room in frt seat for 6-footer (vs previous model),much better power (140 hp now)- not a rocket, but well matched to veh weight, quiet interior noise levels, 16" wheels + suspension give very planted feeling on the road at all speeds, high build quality and nice brushed aluminum trim levels inside, tight space in back seat, remote keyless buttons contained in key (no fob), modern dash & sloped windshield make it feel very spacious, however you are sitting very low to the road & will look up to other compacts. Shifter (5 spd man) is precise, but Mazda 3 is smoother. Side & side curtain airbags, ABS w/EBD-awesome package.
Excellent Quality for the Money
A lot of car for the money, very nice body lines, Total redesign of exterior and interior is nice but could be improved in the seating design with a wider bucket seat, should also come with tinted windows from factory to avoid cheap window tint film installations. Stay away from the Bass Speaker Option it is way over priced and very poor sound quality. Stereo system is weak.
BEST CAR EVER!!!!!!!!
This is the best car that I have ever had in my entire life! I traded in my 2003 Cadillac CTS for it because when I first saw this Civic I just had to have it! If you are going to buy a Civic it absolutely HAS to have the Navi. I will never buy a car without it! Also, it feels great to get 40 MPG when I was getting about 13 MPG in my Cadillac. I got the Civic because I am going away to college and I need a commuter car, it's just more practical to have a car in Los Angeles that has good gas mileage and a Navi.
Great little car!
Awesome little car, glad I went with the EX for the extra features. Getting right at 30 mpg city, with 42 mpg highway being my best to date. The build quality seems very good (J-Vin, assembled in Japan). I bought the car the first day they were available. I still expect a few first year jitters, but so far so good.
Best Civic Yet!
All I can say is WOW! Best Civic yet! I have mine for a few days now and I can't stop driving it. The 5 speed transmission is a huge improvement over the pervious model, as well as the handling. The interior is comfortable and the ride is smooth. Drive one you will not be disappointed!
06 Civic LX
I am a big guy. This car was not made for me. My six ft heavy frame is still not uncomfortable to drive and ride. We got this car for my wife and daughter to use. It is perfect for them both. The car is well constructed, and the fuel economy is close to the advertised 30-40 mpg. A little more noise than our old Accord. But, then again, this is an economy instead of a mid size. The larger engine, better transmission, and the improved air bag system make it an excellent value.
2006 Honda Civic
This car is very sporty as appearance is concerned, however it does not have as much power as I thought it might. I was astonished when I popped the hood. The engine and battery terminal are tiny. The car lacks quick acceleration but is quite fuel efficient. The safety features are top notch but lack of power is a bit of a let down from such a sporty looking car.
Everything and more!
The car is awesome, very sharp from the outside and the inside is extremely comfortable. It is very quiet and the mileage has been good, upper 30s and the engine is yet to be broken in. I decided on a Civic after test driving a Mazda 3 and a Toyota Corolla. There was no contest on the purchase of a Civic. Honda has done a very good job with this car. It is no wonder this Civic was the Motor Trend Car of The Year! Again, very nice car for the money!
Comfortable, Quick, Great MPG!
I replaced my 2001 Accord with the 2006 Civic looking for better MPG and handling; I got what I was looking for! It was a strange looking car at the time but since then more and more cars have the bullet shaped frame.
2006 Civic Sedan
Incredibly impressed with this car. Thought I was buying an economy, dull car. This car drives like a formula one sports car. Great on gas, handles like a dream, roomy for such a small car.
first honda ever....am sold
car drove out excellent .....held the road and is very positive in traffic. Shift pattern is soooo smooth...engine is very quiet and heater will burn you out of there......I simply love this car.....
Very, Very Nice!!!
Just bought this car for my son that is away @ college. He will be driving it around 200 miles each way to and from school about every 3 weeks. This car fit the bill perfectly. He loves it and so does his parents (safety, reliability, economy. Considered the Mazda3 also but the new Civic edged it out. Have added aftermarket wheels and window tint (car is silver) and it looks like an Acura. Very nice looking! Again, very impressed with this car.
Great car to drive
This car is great. I bought it for the fuel mileage. My daily commute is 110 miles. Out of which 85 miles are on the highway. I average about 33-35 mpg. The ride is queie and smooth. There is plenty of head room... I am 6 ft tall. I love the new design Honda rolled out. Safety wise it's good too with front and side airbags and its got ABS. This is all standard. Honda did think of all the important aspects... fuel economy, safety, styling. It has 6 speakers with CD/MP3/WMA. It has enough power to drive... plus this is not a sports car... it does not have any fancy gadgets though... but this is not a BMW or MERC.
Best in class for a reason
The 2006 Civic is an amazing technological and automotive achievement; No wonder it was voted Car of the Year. Drive one and you'll see for yourself.
Awesome change...
I love the way that this car handles. I am also very pleased with fuel economy performance as well as engine response. Interior is cool. And the seats are very comfortable.
Great Car
I love my car! I've had it for 2 months now. Great pickup - handles great - even the windsheild wipers slow down when you are at a stop light.
traded 05 for 06
We traded our 2005 Civic EX for the 2006 Civic EX. I love driving the 2006. There is more power and the ride is quieter. Our three kids fit in the back seat of the 2006, one is a teenager. The headlights are brighter than the 05's were. Really, it was all the safety features that really sold it for us. The 05 only had frontal airbags and the 06 has the side impact and curtain as well. Since the kids can fit in the back seat comfortably, we now drive the Civic more than my husband's 05 Accord. We love the sporty look. The only real draw back is the fact that my husband is a tall bigger man and he looks a little cramped in the driver's seat and passenger seat.
Awesome new design
We also own a 94 Civic and it has been a very reliable and economical car. We looked at the many competitors. The Civic was more stylish and comfortable than any of the others. We fell in love with the dash design on the redesigned Civic. We have owned the car for 2 weeks and no regrets. The car drives smoothly and draws second glances from people as we drive by. This car is of the same quality of cars twice this price. If you haven't looked at the Civic yet, go for a test drive. (Try going for a test drive after the sun has gone down. The way the dash lights up is incredible!) Honda is a great company and they build a very reliable car. Bravo Honda!
So happy I went with the Civic!
After much research, I decided to test drive the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic. There was no comparison at all after driving! The Civic was quick and responsive and the drivers seat comfortable. (The Corolla's driving position was horrible, I never could get comfortable behind the wheel.) I have had my car three weeks now and I love it! I've gotten lots of complements on it's looks, both interior and exterior and am very happy with the gas mileage I am getting. I will for sure be buying more Hondas in my future!
Fun to drive
Having worked at a Honda dealership in the late 80's early 90's I was leary of owning a civic due to the small size and limited interior. Boy was I surprised. This civic is roomier than the 80 Accord I used to drive. Peppy and fun, this is a great car for those looking for excellent mileage and not wanting to compromise on comfort.
Comfortable/affordable/fun commuter
My EX is sooo easy to drive. I have an '89 Si and this is a big improvement. The 06 Civic gets great gas mileage, is practical, but also nice looking with the new design. The EX has most of the luxury features that I became accustomed to with my sport/luxury sedan so I don't mind moving down in class to save money and get to where I'm going comfortably. Besides, most of the time I drive at a moderate speed and don't treat this like a sports car. This car is perfect for our expected baby (safe), an occasional friend, and an easy to drive tool for getting from place to place without the hassle of a big bulky vehicle. We installed leather to make the ride seem more than it is. Mileage= 31mpg
What a Value!!
This car is perfect for anyone, ages 16-60+!! I have not found any one detail that I would change of this car to date. Honda reliability, Honda sportiness, Honda legend. Safety features pouring out of ever square inch of this *roomy* new version of everyone's favorite car!
Very Good car for less money
Bought 2006 Honda Civic EX, 4dr, Auto on 11/10/2005. It has very futuristic interior and a very gorgeous aerodynamic body. It definitely stands out in the traffic. However, 2006 Toyota Corolla has optional vehicle stability control and traction control features.I also compared it with 2006 Mazda 3 and civic has less hp than 2.3 LT Mazda 3.Ride is bumpier than Chevy Cobalt or Toyota Camry. Remote Keyless entry system started malfunctioning within 2/3 Weeks. Dealer lubed the locks but the problem again surfaced today -Am I unfortunate or a genuine problem ?!
A new look
This is a really different looking car. love the cab forward and the euro style wipers. There is actually quite a bit of leg room, I'm 6' 2" and feel very comfortable in the car. Also visibility out the back is good.
My Civic
I must share performance of this vehicle. I drive 108 miles back and forth each day from New Braunfels to Austin TX. I average ~70 Mile MPH and I get GREAT mileage. Today I filled up with 10.1 gallons and drove 418.9 miles which equals 41.47 MPG. This is in 100+ degree with aircon on. You talk about hybrids, this vehicle beats them when you compare cost over performance. I do not understand why Honda does not push this car?
Is this really MY car??!
I've had this car for 8 days, and I absolutely love it! I got it as a high school graduation present, and I still can't believe that I could have a car with this many features and perks for the price that my mom paid for it. I love the color, galaxy gray, and all my friends have been complimenting me on how colorful, pretty, and spacious the interior is. All in all, I couldn't be happier; this is the perfect car for a teen going off to college. Parents: Buy this car for your kids!
My wife's Honda Civic EX
I looked at other cars and chose the Honda Civic 4-dr EX because of its style, resale value and because my wife liked the way it looked and felt for her. I wanted her to like the Civic Si, but she wanted a four door with a automatic, what can I say, sigh.
First Honda & I Am A Fan
This is my first honda and let me just sum it up with one word - Impressed. This vehicle not only looks good it feels good to drive and its fun. My first fill up averaged 32mpg not quite the 40mpg but I have done a lot of stop and go driving and at 32mpg I'm impressed. This car is not only the safest car it is fun to drive and nice to look at, the mp3/wma player just add's to that fun. I plan on owning this car for along time to come and pass it on to my now 9 yr old daughter when she is 16. Thanks Honda for making a product that is not only fuel efficent but safe and reliable all into one.
Near perfect
I recently purchased the Honda EX 06 automatic transmission sedan. I am very pleased with the car. I shopped this car and a few others. I was suprised how bad the Cobalt ran, it was awful in my opinion, noisy cheap feel. The next one was the Mazda 3 2.0. It was nice enough but was not as good as the Honda. What is love about the Honda is how quiet the car is on the road, the doors close with a luxury car thud. It handles and accelerates very well. It is roomy inside,is well-made and well thought out. The Sat radio is excellent The Nav System too although takes time to figure out. Living in New Jersey, the one thing I would have wanted was heated mirrors. That's about it. An excellent car
What SUV???
What a surprise. Who knew that Honda would make a car with the tech features I demand, the mileage I need and price it at $21,100. I traded my luxury SUV with Nav, Power everything and 14MPG for this little "economy car" that gets 38MPG Hwy at 75MPH. I literally test drove the fresh off the truck Civic 1 block and told the salesman it was sold. Great car. It actually feels less like a Japanese econobox and more like a euro-inspired sedan with tight handling thanks to the 50-series standard tires. The Navigation is better than my Infiniti's and it doesn't break the bank at the pump. Buy it and pay cash. Take the rest of the money and invest it!
Paint Quality Standards?
Love the interior and exterior styling, love the MPG, but I absolutely hate the fact that the front and rear bumpers do not match the rest of the vehicle. I purchased the EX Sedan in alabaster silver as I like light exterior colors and do not like brown interiors. All of the silver and other light to medium colored Civics on the dealer lots had this issue. Due to needing a vehicle immediately, I went ahead with the purchase. However, every time I look at the vehicle, I am disappointed by how bad the mismatch make the vehicle look. I can't help but question Honda's paint standards. Very disappointing. Honda - get it fixed!!!!
Awesome & SAFE
This car is very cool. My first Honda and probably will not be my last. The HP is a little on the low side but performed well on a long road trip. My story has a sad ending but I was sandwiched by a truck and a SUV. The front bumper was Impailed on the SUV trailer hitch. So the car V'd in. The back also took a massive hit. Im 6'4 and the end result was I was able to walk away with minor neck and back pain. Kudos to Honda for making a car that could withstand that type of impact.
The car is great! Bridgestone tires awfu
I like everything about the Civic EX. The Bridgestone tires Honda put on it are pretty bad though! The dealer said Honda got a big discount on Bridgestone tires and switched from Michlein. I took the Bridgestone tires off and replaced them with Michlein Sport tires that Honda puts on the Civic SI. It now tracks and holds the road MUCH better. Dont expect much from the Bridgestone tires on water or Snow....you will be in deep trouble. This was my 20th Honda/Acura product!!
Stand-out for Best Value
I've had the Civic for a couple of weeks and love it. Dealer had a tough time finding a manual in Atomic Blue, so I took the automatic...great move. Compared several others and found it by far the best value for performace, styling, saftey and MPGs. Very distinctive car to drive. Everyone in awe of MPGs (especially coworkers with trucks and SUVs!) Two tier instruments fun and practical. Airbags and safety features abound.
3rd Civic - 1st love
Rides a little more stiffly than my 1997 Civic EX 2 door. It's like driving a high performance living room couch around. Friends and family all love the extra room, and since hardly anyone else has it, it is a conversation piece. Am still getting used to it, but can tell you I love it already. The engineering and design on this new model are breathtaking.
The best commuter car gets better.
I traded an 03 Civic LX for an 06. Honda addressed the all the areas where the older Civic needed updating. Power, the new motor is amazing; better mileage (I got 42 MPG on the first tank), smoother and more power! The manual says 10,000 miles between oil changes, save money on gas and oil! Style, updated inside and out; the aerodynamic design of the body is complemented perfectly with the futuristic/functional design inside. Safety, stanard anti lock brakes and side impact air bags. The steering wheel with the tilt and telescoping adjustments and drivers seat hieght adjustments make it easy to find the perfect driving position and adjust your position when needed.
My First Civic
I needed a dependable car for work that had good gas mileage. I usually purchase larger cars - the gas guzzlers made me look at hybrids which lead me to the Civic. The difference in gas mileage versus the price difference for the car, coupled with the loss in trunk space as a result of the hybrid, lead me to the gas powered automatic. So far I can say, while I think this car could be my last Civic (built well) it will be the begining of my relationship with Honda and the Civic.
Touchdown!!
Honda scores a touchdown with the new Civic. The build quality, reliability, gas mileage, and safety are excellent and typical Honda. The exterior design may take a little getting used to as does the interior with the two-tier dash design. But, I'm used to it and I love it. What I also love is the surprisingly fun-to-drive factor. While the car is no Mazda3, it's sportier than I expected, especially with the 5spd. manual. I would recommend this car to anyone. Honda has done a fantastic job with the 2006 Civic.
