Wouldn't have any other!

This is my first Honda, and I see where the hype for these Japanese cars comes from! It is so well built, the quality is amazing. From the way the doors close, to the way the fan speed knob snicks through its detents so smoothly, this car "oozes" quality craftmanship. The engine has plenty of go-power (0-60 in 8.0 sec according to Motor Trend), and the fuel economy has been great. After 4,300 miles, I have averaged 37 mpg, with a good bit of 75 MPH highway driving. In town, I usually get around 30 mpg, not shabby at all! There is more room in the back seat than my old Maxima! The trunk is a bit smaller, but still has plenty of room for all one will need.

Overall the Civic is simply a great buy! I bought an 2006 EX model and have been very impressed with this vehicle. Awesome fuel economy and great design. The ride is bumpier than I expected, and this is my only complaint.

First glance I had of the new 2006 Civic was love at first sight. Its even better driving the new Civic. All control are readily accessible and the new "two tier" insturment panel is superb (reminds me of my HUD on my Corvette). You never had to take your eyes off the road. Straight off the showroom I got 38 MPG the first tank. Since they are hard to come by, I see a lot of people eyeing it wondering what it is. If you're looking for styling, reliability, gas mileage, and people staring, buy a new Civic (I'm sure you'll have to order it), they don't stay on the lot. Love it better than the 2001 2-door Accord I had.

Where is the reliability?

Bought 2006 Civic LX because of its incredible reliability history but having a real hard time keeping this newly designed car healthy. Got tired of taking my new car to dealership almost every other week. I have already gone to the dealer to fix the passenger door, passenger seat sliding assembly, recalled accelerator padel, falling steering column cover, unfoldable backseat and today - both rear shock absorbers are leaking alarming amount of fluid - need to replace both. Got so freaked out, purchased the extended warranty as I have to buy it before 6000 miles. God knows whats next! Am I the only unlucky one? This is extremely poor quality control by Honda for a redesigned car.

I bought my Civic because I had always heard they were great cars. This car drives great unless there is snow. It is not good in the snow at all. It constantly fishtails and I do not feel safe at all. I think this would be a great car if I lived in FL but would not recommend for the northern states that get a lot of snow!!

Great car, fix the headrests

Nice car. Good mileage (38mpg @ 1200 miles, mostly highway). 5 speed auto is nice, even coming from a stick, though I could do without it downshifting quite so aggressively. Only major problem sounds silly... The front headrests are too far forward, pushing your head forward and making it _very_ uncomfortable to drive for some folks (and my wife is one of them...) We didn't notice it on the test drive with all the other "I'm in a new car" stuff going on, but be sure and check it out if you're considering one of these.

I have a job where I drive 40,000 - 50,000 miles per year visiting accounts up and down the east coast. I needed a car that can handle alot of long, high speed highway runs, and I could not be happier with this car so far... For me it was a decision between the VW Jetta TDI and the Civic, and while I loved both cars, I felt like the value and reliability were better with the Civic. The fully loaded Civic costs at least $1000 less than the least expensive TDI. The Civic is giving me an average of 38-40 mpg so far, and while it doesn't have the high speed passing power of the TDI, the engine is one of the smoothest I have ever driven. I highly recommend this car!

I've had this car for almost two years and I absolutely love it. For the past year I have been driving 35 miles to and from work, all freeway driving since my job and home are right off the freeway. I average between 37 and 40 mpg every time. I usually travel between 65 and 70 mph. Besides that, I also love everything else. I have 37,000 miles on my Civic with the same tires and brakes and I live in San Diego, CA.

This is an incredible little car. Honda has really produced a quality piece of equipment. The safety features are incredible for the price. Don't let other dealerships fool you. My wife and I have a Corolla and a Civic both 04 or newer and the Civic is by far the better deal. They even sell floor mats with the vehicle. Go test drive one if only for the incredible driving experience.

I love my little Civic. I was amazed how well it handled Floyd Hill, just outside Denver (6% grade). I was able to maintain a steady 65 all the way up. It's responsive, and it has the best sound system I've ever had. The only things I'm not wild about are the headrest (makes your neck bend more than I like) and the low slung front end, which screaches on the bump as I enter my drive. They should prop it up another inch, and move that headrest back about an inch. Then it would be the perfect car. But as is, it's awesome.

My wife and I traded our 2002 Accord EX on this new Civic sedan with navigation system. We loved the look ever since I saw it in a car magazine and on the Internet. When we drove it, I was expecting to notice a difference in power from the Accord V6, but the little VTEC engine shined. The Civic did, however, handle much better and was smoother and quiet than the 2002 Accord! With the windows down, the wide open sunroom made it seem like riding in convertible. With the windows up and the AC running, it felt like a luxury car. I have never driven a car that was so much fun to drive, comortable, had nice features like a good stereo and a nav system, for such a great price! Way to go Honda!

I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic in 2006 right after the new body style came out. I had 2 cars breaking down traded them both in for my Civic. Except for normal maintenance I have had no problems with the car at all. I still have fun driving it! This is an excellent gas miles car as well average 38 on the hwy and 32 in the city. I am a Honda fan for life I just purchased a 2009 Ridgeline cause I love that truck. My Honda Civic will be with me until it dies and maybe even after it does.

Enjoyable car to drive. Outstanding characteristic is the absolute quiet inside the car. Your eye picks up the high level of interior quality. Seats are comfortable and supportive for my aching back. The more I view the new dash board with its two tier instrument panel, the more I appreciate the design. I find the voice-activated navigation system so useful that I use it even when not absolutely needed. The system and voice start your radio, change stations, give time as well as how long and how far to your destination. The exterior design is different and eye-catching for a Honda Civic, especially the unusually wide windshield. A minor bone of contention is the bounciness when going over bumps.

I traded in my 2004 Mazda3s sedan for a 2006 Honda Civic EX sedan because Honda are supposed to be more reliable than Mazdas and the Civic is supposed to get a lot better gas mileage than the Mazda3. So far the Civic has gotten the same gas mileage as the Mazda3 and the Civic has had way more problems in the 3 months of ownership than the Mazda3 did in 2 years of ownership. Honda needs to get it's quality control act back to what it used to be.

Nice solid vehicle. Love the new styling and interior design. Great handling and smooth ride. Interior is quiet and well designed (for the most part). Mileage is fair for the first 3,000 miles (32/gal.) in mixed situations. Would highly recommend this vehicle. Agree with many reviews that the LX model should have a 60/40 split and cup holders in the back. Stereo sounds great but would like the 350 Watt option available on LX (volume is great with windows closed). This care is definitely one you should test drive if you are looking for a stylish and reliable vehicle in this class. Atomic Blue Metallic color was worth the wait.

I bought my civic from a private party back in March of 2012 with 136,000 miles already on it. All I can say so far since I've owned it is one word... Awsome! Even with so many miles on it I've had zero major problems with it. Only minor problem so far was I had to replace the cowling along the base of the winshield due to the passenger side became unclipped and interfered with wiper arm operation. Bought and installed the part myself and problem gone. Also part of the plastic handle on the ebrake is coming lose but still works just fine. It's my first Civic, but I've always driven Hondas cause of their long history of durability. Way to go Honda!! Keep bringing us the good cars we love!!

My first time driving on an interstate in my Cvic was amazing. The acceleration was smooth and you could barely feel the car shifting. Gas mileage is wonderful especially with the price of gas.

Very impressive car. No regrets about buying it. Averaged 36 MPG for the first 1,000 miles consisting of a mix of city / highway driving (30/70). Well built, fun to drive and great looking for a compact car. I am 6'2" and the car is comfortable for me. There is plenty of room. Looking forward to getting 40 MPG on highway trips. I strongly suspect it will be in the 40's once it is broken in and I have a chance to get it out for highway only driving. At 65 MPH, the engine only turns 2,100 RPMs which is incredible for a 1.8 - Liter engine. Also the 140 HP generated is impressive.

RATING 3/4 of 5 - DX-G, MAN. TRANS., CANADA BUILT, 27K MILES. Overall a good/very good car for city/highway driving. PLUS: Styling, Fuel Efficiency, Maintenance/Reliability, Road Feel/Turning, Drives Straight, No Vibration, Starts at - 45! Great for shorter drivers, Fun 2 Drive. MINUS: Fit & Finish - paint, plastics used (scratches easily), Some parts slightly misaligned, Front end is low to ground; some people may have difficulty entering/exiting car; if not aware, may easily hit concrete barriers while parking, trunk space good for small jobs, Suspension has started to squeak over small bumps, Factory tires will need to be replaced due to softer factory tires.

Have had my CIVIC LX for 28 months/ 53,000 miles on odometer. As mentioned in my previous entries the car still rides roughly even on new tires. Rattles in dash, rear deck area. WHY does this car have SO MUCH ROAD NOISE? Clunky transmission-still-now has a new 'whine' to it. Still gets approx 34 MPG, though. KBB, NADA, Black Book value ahead of my pay off. I'm proud of that. Thinking of 09 Corolla.

The 8th generation of Civic is fabulous. My LX Sedan feels like it's worth thousands more than I paid for it. Perhaps it's due to the size increase or the quality of the interior materials Honda used, but I feel like I'm driving an Accord. The acceleration is steady and smooth and of course a bit quicker than the 7th generation due to the increased power from the new 1.8 i-VTEC. It feels like it has a bit more torque than a Honda engine should as well. Safety features were a big deciding factor in my purchase decision, this year all Civics come standard with side and curtin airbags and ABS. Not many economy sedans offer this in this price range. A bargain Honda? Maybe the first!

Yes, the automatic shifts smoothly when accelerating normally, but if you accelerate slowly it shifts into top gear at 37 mph and groans like a cow if you then try to push it. Agree with others the head rest is too far forward and my head bounces off it on medium to large bumps. Trunk space has shrunk from 2005 and it was noticeable once I tried to move stuff to it from my old compact. Gas mileage so far (1200 miles) is no better than the old compact (about 31 mpg avg). Wiper on passenger side clears an annoyingly small space to see (due to large window). If you're over six feet, check your head room with the sun roof as it lowers the ceiling. Speakers are good but expected better with six!

I test drove an Accord and a Civic with my wife. We could not tell the difference between the two. So we saved a lot of money by buying the Civic. Our intention was to step up from our 2002 Civic and buy an Accord. Now that we have had it for a while, my wife who drives it every day (48 miles) loves it. It clearly is the car of the year from Motor Trend magazine.

I liked this car enough to switch from twenty-plus years of VW Jettas. It's beautifully made. It handles nicely and the ride isn't bad, and it's as quiet as I'd want, even with the moonroof open. The audio sounds great, though radio reception isn't very good. The thick windshield corner posts (struts?) obstruct vision, quite seriously on left turns. The transmission has trouble deciding what gear it wants to be in on grades at speed. I wonder where all the reviewers reporting 35-40 mpg live and drive - I have to do a lot of maneuvering in and around traffic on long, stiff interstate grades, and even with a lot of more relaxed driving averaged in, I'm getting 29-31 mpg city/hwy.

I miss my old English sports cars, so I look for nimble handling. The Civic is terrific- excellent gas mileage, unexpected good performance in the speed ranges we use most often, a full compliment of safety features standard, and a roomy comfortable interior. For those who need the best cornering ability in a small car- look at the Maxda 3. For balanced performance and value- this Civic is superb.

Our 14th honda since 1980. Could possibly be the most fun to drive one. We have 1200 miles since 9-17-5.High mileage 44.6 low mileage 29 mpg. It handles like slot car and performs well even in rain. The 1.8 engine is a great combination of performance/economy. An effortless high speed cruiser. Navigation is great. I'm 6.2 325lbs and can sit behind myself. Body appears to be Acura tl tsx style. The new civic sedan looks great. Love the airbags and safety features. My wife loves HER new car. Rides almost as nice as our 2005 Accord sedan with leather does. It handles better. I hope it's as great a car as our little 1995 Civic hatchback. It has been very quiet with sunroof open and windows cracked open

I made a point to purchase a Japanese model with a VIN that starts with a J. Paid almost full price for the 4DR EX Auto. Chosen for reputation, style, and gas mileage. It is really fun to drive and handles well. The ride is smooth and it's easy to maneuver and park with great visibility. It's feels light and seems to float a little on the road but it's comfortable for day trips. I was impressed at how quiet the car is while driving.

Traded in the 05 civic 2 door. was real pleased with the 05,but needed 4 doors. I looked around quite a bit and narrowed it down to two models; the 06 Jetta and the 06 Mazda 3.I went with the Honda because of its great reputation to building a quality product and because the gas milage was better than the other two.Iliked the Jetta better as far as trunk space and the "German" engineering and the Mazda 3 was a blast to drive but the Jetta was a considerly more expensive auto than the Civic and the Mazda only lost out because as I said the gas mileage and reputation of the Honda in my perception is the best. The Honda is not a zoom zoom car but is is upscale for a auto in this catagory.

Had a Civic '98 before....very happy with it so thought I would go for another one. Overall I am very happy with it. In- town gas mileage seems a little low but I have not had it long enough to evaluate accurately. Comfortable spacious. Hope it works for me as well as the last one!

Great Gas Mileage

The 06 Civic is a great ride, and it gets incredible gas mileage. On the interstate I have gotten between 35 and 37 miles per gallon in the first 1,000 miles. I like the heads up type spedometer display. Makes it safer to drive, especially in heavy traffic.

If you're considering a Civic, then you already know it's tops in safety and gas mileage. You should also know that it's the 2006 Motor Trend Car of the Year, having beat out 28 other cars for that distinctive title. What you get for the money is phenomenal. Months of taking everything into consideration culminated in my buying the Civic EX sedan, and I'm very pleased for the most part. I had the deck spoiler added on (not the wing), as well as the chrome exhaust tip. Those two add-ons have given it a European design look, and it gets mistaken for an Acura or Audi. Fun to drive, like a go-cart. Pull the one- touch sunroof back and open the front windows, and you'll swear it's a convertible!

Good but already seeing first problem

Overall the car is what you expect, decent, dependable with a good mileage. But just 5 days into owning it I have seen the first problem. There is a vibration sound at low speeds(around 39- 42 MPH) when running on the 5th gear and slighlty stepping on the pedal or moving across a slight incline. Honda engineer should have easily spotted this problem.

I had this car for almost 3 years and loved it. We drove it mostly on the hwy out in the country where we live. It survived the tough Iowa winters with no problem. Never had trouble starting on the coldest days. Only things we did for it was take it in for reg. maintenance and oil changes/tire rotations. Put 80,000 miles on it w/no problems. Fell even more in love w/this car after husband landed upside down in a ditch and walked away from the accident. Very safe, reliable car with great gas mileage. We averaged 40 mpg year round, w/ mostly highway miles. Could be roomier, but is surprisingly roomy for such a small car. However, it is light and can blow around a bit in Iowa's strong winds.

I have been very pleased with my Civic. Alot of people hate the interior but I enjoy the futuristic looks. The seats are very sturdy and comfortable, although the plastic and paint is like many said cheap and scratches easily. Sunroof, Ipod hookup, multiple airbags, digital speedometer have all been nice features. This car does get excellent gas mileage BUT at a price for power... very very poor passing power on 2 lane roads. With all that said it has been a very reliable car, just the normal wear and tear upkeep.

Traded in a 05 2 door Civic LX for the 06 4 door EX. Even though car has more ponies it will get you where you want but still seems weak on horsepower. The design of the car really caught my eye, and the materials are of the quality you would expect. The price is not bad considering you get moon roof, alloy wheels, side curtain air bags,ABS, and a sticker EPA of 40mpg hwy. I had compared the new Jetta and the Mazda 3. The Jetta was more expensive and both did not get the EPA mileage the Civic is supposed to. As I said "its a Honda". This new Civic is a good looker but still is pretty plain vanilla when it comes to driving experience. Reliability rated excellent but really have not had long enough

I am getting about 27/31 on the fuel economy, the spring on the seat belt retract device causes the seat belt to fly into the door panel cause small marks. The drivers door does not close unless it is slammed. the body panels on the drivers side don't line up like they should. Is this because it was built in america i wonder. The passenger airbag light comes on half the time. When the brake is applied and you hit a bump or going over rough terrain the brake pedal feels really wear, like something broke off or is loose. I think getting the air deflector for the sunroof is a must.
