Wouldn't have any other!

This is my first Honda, and I see where the hype for these Japanese cars comes from! It is so well built, the quality is amazing. From the way the doors close, to the way the fan speed knob snicks through its detents so smoothly, this car "oozes" quality craftmanship. The engine has plenty of go-power (0-60 in 8.0 sec according to Motor Trend), and the fuel economy has been great. After 4,300 miles, I have averaged 37 mpg, with a good bit of 75 MPH highway driving. In town, I usually get around 30 mpg, not shabby at all! There is more room in the back seat than my old Maxima! The trunk is a bit smaller, but still has plenty of room for all one will need.

Where is the reliability?

Bought 2006 Civic LX because of its incredible reliability history but having a real hard time keeping this newly designed car healthy. Got tired of taking my new car to dealership almost every other week. I have already gone to the dealer to fix the passenger door, passenger seat sliding assembly, recalled accelerator padel, falling steering column cover, unfoldable backseat and today - both rear shock absorbers are leaking alarming amount of fluid - need to replace both. Got so freaked out, purchased the extended warranty as I have to buy it before 6000 miles. God knows whats next! Am I the only unlucky one? This is extremely poor quality control by Honda for a redesigned car.

I bought my Civic because I had always heard they were great cars. This car drives great unless there is snow. It is not good in the snow at all. It constantly fishtails and I do not feel safe at all. I think this would be a great car if I lived in FL but would not recommend for the northern states that get a lot of snow!!

I'm a honda guy since 1994 and have owned Civics and Accords. I traded my '98 Acura and bought an '06 civic EX sedan to improve mpg's. I think the new Civic styling is great - very Acura TSX-like. The interior is smart and has good fit and finish. I'm impressed with quietness and responsiveness of the engine and got used to the new digital speedo very quickly. I hope the durability is comparable to my past civics, but so far, I'm lovin' it. Got the car in Nighthawk Black Pearl and it looks really good - especially with contrasting ivory interior. No noises or grunts yet - I wish us all good like with our new Civics.

I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic in 2006 right after the new body style came out. I had 2 cars breaking down traded them both in for my Civic. Except for normal maintenance I have had no problems with the car at all. I still have fun driving it! This is an excellent gas miles car as well average 38 on the hwy and 32 in the city. I am a Honda fan for life I just purchased a 2009 Ridgeline cause I love that truck. My Honda Civic will be with me until it dies and maybe even after it does.

When in for an oil change at the dealer with my CRV, I saw the 2006 Civic with Navigation on the showroom floor. I drove away in the Civic! Although paying full sticker for the car, I still feel it is the BEST DEAL out there in the below 30,000 dollar price range. The car has a fantastic, unmistakeably NEW design. Everything seems to make sense inside and out. It is loaded with standard features like Antilock Brakes, six airbags and power everything. BUY A NAVI if you can find one!

Must be another version of the 2006 Civic I don't have. What's wrong? Unacceptable radio reception. Most uncomfortable seat I have ever had in an automobile. Auto 5spd is a disaster around town (5th gear 1K rpm @35 mph, give me a break!). Front driver side visibility is terrible especially when made worse by poor wiper blade coverage. And the wipers are also incredibly noisy. Plastic dip stick, please!

The car responds quickly and smoothly on start but after 80 mph the speedometer rises too slowly especially when the car is full. But that' just the beginning. The driver's window came out of frame after about 1.5k miles. Later the interior started to fall apart small plastic pieces in the front corner popped out. After 20k miles front brakes came apart, battery was replaced, the starter and the alternator followed by the ignition key was giving problems. I didn't recognize it. I replaced cpu. The trunk lock broke at like 200 miles of use and the back seat open handle broke off easily. the exterior plastic started 2 fall off recently pins that hold them came out.

Major problems with interior and trim, panels on inside of car by roof and window. Honda had to re built a major engine part. When car was 2 years out of warranty. For the most the car is outstanding on gas. Handles and drives great. Lots of room in trunk. Comfortable! I just wish the interior was a little better.

I just bought this car a few days ago and am very pleased with it. It is fun to drive and great on gas. The navigation system is great-I couldn't find any similar models that offered it. This is my 2nd Civic and there was never even a reason for me to consider other cars. The new dash design is very cool and steering wheel controls are very convenient. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the drink holder - they are located in the center console and get very warm after driving for awhile. This is probably due to the electronic equipment but it will make a cold drink warm after awhile. All in all, very happy with this car and I highly recommend it!

Did a lot of research before purchase & conclude this is the best value smaller sedan. I am coming from a 2002 Camry ELE and, except for the loss of electric seats and some space find the Civic drives just as comfortably. I have driven 1,300 miles and have several issues: 1) a lightly audible rattle in the left front dash; 2)local MPG that is only averaging 27 (driving fairly conservatively) all highway is 39 mpg; 3) and that the front end is fairly low - be carful going up modest driveway grades, I ended up having to take off the front mud flaps as they would occasionally scrape.

Nice solid vehicle. Love the new styling and interior design. Great handling and smooth ride. Interior is quiet and well designed (for the most part). Mileage is fair for the first 3,000 miles (32/gal.) in mixed situations. Would highly recommend this vehicle. Agree with many reviews that the LX model should have a 60/40 split and cup holders in the back. Stereo sounds great but would like the 350 Watt option available on LX (volume is great with windows closed). This care is definitely one you should test drive if you are looking for a stylish and reliable vehicle in this class. Atomic Blue Metallic color was worth the wait.

On my first test drive I thought the two tier instrument display was too futuristic and I felt somewhat intimidated. After 1 week and driving other contenders in the civic class, I took my second test drive and was totally captivated by the interior and exterior design. To date my driving experience has been quite satisfying. both with interior comfort and controls and handling response. I know I made the right choice.

My second Honda-another manual. If it were a station wagon it would be perfect. Great mileage-40 mpg on the highway, 32 in mixed driving. Reliable, easy to drive in town or on the interstate. Enough "go" to deal with big semis going 80, but handy to park. More fun to drive than our Toyota. The kids say the back seat is a squeeze but they aren't buying the gas to run it. I expect that my 11 year old will drive this car through college and beyond without problems. I have owned Volvo, VW, BMW, and Toyota cars, but for ease of ownership, reliability, economy, and over all performance,my heart belongs to Honda. I just really, really want a real station wagon again--like my 1991 Accord. Please?

I bought my civic from a private party back in March of 2012 with 136,000 miles already on it. All I can say so far since I've owned it is one word... Awsome! Even with so many miles on it I've had zero major problems with it. Only minor problem so far was I had to replace the cowling along the base of the winshield due to the passenger side became unclipped and interfered with wiper arm operation. Bought and installed the part myself and problem gone. Also part of the plastic handle on the ebrake is coming lose but still works just fine. It's my first Civic, but I've always driven Hondas cause of their long history of durability. Way to go Honda!! Keep bringing us the good cars we love!!

So far, 1st tank or two 35+mpg. Great handling. Trunk smallish as is rear seat fore and aft. If the LX had split seat and rear discs at $500 more I would have gotten one rather than EX. Oh, well. I have no need for sunroof. Just barely enough leg room for 6'1" me. Great handling, much better than CR-V that I traded in. Plastic dipstick painted orange - can't see the oil. Aftermarket replacement?

RATING 3/4 of 5 - DX-G, MAN. TRANS., CANADA BUILT, 27K MILES. Overall a good/very good car for city/highway driving. PLUS: Styling, Fuel Efficiency, Maintenance/Reliability, Road Feel/Turning, Drives Straight, No Vibration, Starts at - 45! Great for shorter drivers, Fun 2 Drive. MINUS: Fit & Finish - paint, plastics used (scratches easily), Some parts slightly misaligned, Front end is low to ground; some people may have difficulty entering/exiting car; if not aware, may easily hit concrete barriers while parking, trunk space good for small jobs, Suspension has started to squeak over small bumps, Factory tires will need to be replaced due to softer factory tires.

I just bought this car today. So far, so good! I love the exterior and interior styling. The dealer had no idea how the external jack worked for the stereo. So I went to Best Buy and they figured it out. It's not the best stereo but my Ipod works with it so yahoo! This car is so quiet for a 4 cyl engine. I can't wait to see how it performs on my 80 mile round-trip commute

This is my first Honda and I can really feel the build quality and the handling of the car is superior to others. Fuel economy has been around 28 mpg in city, but excellent on the highway. This was a smooth transition from a manual transmission, because this is also a 5- speed transmission and I like the way shifting works, I was surprised with the downshifting specially. I do have to say I was a bit unlucky and mine had a couple minor factory defects: headlights on reminder not working and driver door needed to be adjusted. Despite this, I have no regrets about buying this car. I strongly recommend it.

My Honda has been reliable in fair weather and rain, but snow, I find it a problem to get up some of the smallest hills. I bought a manual transmission hoping I would have more control in the snow. I thought it was the tires, so I bought new tires, still have the same problems. Also, I open the window and water seems to pour in on the controls when it's raining and rolling the window down usually has cleared the windows in past vehicles, but it doesn't, seems the like the rubber squeegy is on the wrong side of the window? Had a ford contour w/ no problems in snow.

I love my new Honda Civic! After test driving many other cars, I'm happy that when I finally made up my mind to buy, the new version of the Civic was available. I never would have considered any of the older versions. This new version is stylish (I've even been told that it looks futuristic) and classy. The ride is smooth and the interior is roomy for a small car. My husband is 6'6" and he has more than enough room! I am very pleased with my new car and highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a small, economical, but stylish car.

After driving a 2-dr, 2-seat v-6 gas- guzzling Dodge Dakota Sport Manual for 9-years and 149.5k miles while such little luxuries as Auto trans, CD players, power windows, and keyless entry passed me by, I decided it was time to get something fuel efficient, reliable, and safe (and not to mention the all-important-to-me envt'l responsibility). My research all pointed to the new Civic, but knowing my mother's '98 Civic kept me from being excited about it. But lo and behold, I only had to drive this sweet, peppy little car for 5 minutes to feel completely at home and even to fall in love even. It strikes a magnificent chord between fun and practicality and I look forward to driving it.

The Honda Civic is a fantastic car. The Civic feels very solid with little body roll when conering, which at first made me think it would be a little firm over bumps. I was wrong, it handled dips, and bumps in the road very well. The transmission is fantastic, goes through the gears very smoothly.

I must share performance of this vehicle. I drive 108 miles back and forth each day from New Braunfels to Austin TX. I average ~70 Mile MPH and I get GREAT mileage. Today I filled up with 10.1 gallons and drove 418.9 miles which equals 41.47 MPG. This is in 100+ degree with aircon on. You talk about hybrids, this vehicle beats them when you compare cost over performance. I do not understand why Honda does not push this car?

I've had this car for almost two years and I absolutely love it. For the past year I have been driving 35 miles to and from work, all freeway driving since my job and home are right off the freeway. I average between 37 and 40 mpg every time. I usually travel between 65 and 70 mph. Besides that, I also love everything else. I have 37,000 miles on my Civic with the same tires and brakes and I live in San Diego, CA.

Have had my CIVIC LX for 28 months/ 53,000 miles on odometer. As mentioned in my previous entries the car still rides roughly even on new tires. Rattles in dash, rear deck area. WHY does this car have SO MUCH ROAD NOISE? Clunky transmission-still-now has a new 'whine' to it. Still gets approx 34 MPG, though. KBB, NADA, Black Book value ahead of my pay off. I'm proud of that. Thinking of 09 Corolla.

I test drove an Accord and a Civic with my wife. We could not tell the difference between the two. So we saved a lot of money by buying the Civic. Our intention was to step up from our 2002 Civic and buy an Accord. Now that we have had it for a while, my wife who drives it every day (48 miles) loves it. It clearly is the car of the year from Motor Trend magazine.

I love my little Civic. I was amazed how well it handled Floyd Hill, just outside Denver (6% grade). I was able to maintain a steady 65 all the way up. It's responsive, and it has the best sound system I've ever had. The only things I'm not wild about are the headrest (makes your neck bend more than I like) and the low slung front end, which screaches on the bump as I enter my drive. They should prop it up another inch, and move that headrest back about an inch. Then it would be the perfect car. But as is, it's awesome.

This is the best car that I have ever had in my entire life! I traded in my 2003 Cadillac CTS for it because when I first saw this Civic I just had to have it! If you are going to buy a Civic it absolutely HAS to have the Navi. I will never buy a car without it! Also, it feels great to get 40 MPG when I was getting about 13 MPG in my Cadillac. I got the Civic because I am going away to college and I need a commuter car, it's just more practical to have a car in Los Angeles that has good gas mileage and a Navi.

At 17, this is the best birthday present one could ever ask for. I got to pick this car out and configure it with everything I wanted - and I couldn't think of a single thing to complain about. The car is fitted with aftermarket leather seats and it looks beautiful - the nav is fantastic. It doesn't get the promised mileage, but no car does... and I have a heavy foot. I average about 25 total but I have to idle in city rush hour traffic every morning... the highway mileage is excellent. Great car overall, stylish, fun to drive, SAFE SAFE SAFE! My friends think it's the coolest thing ever, and so do I. Just remind me next time that black is not worth the time to keep it clean!

Having worked at a Honda dealership in the late 80's early 90's I was leary of owning a civic due to the small size and limited interior. Boy was I surprised. This civic is roomier than the 80 Accord I used to drive. Peppy and fun, this is a great car for those looking for excellent mileage and not wanting to compromise on comfort.

My EX is sooo easy to drive. I have an '89 Si and this is a big improvement. The 06 Civic gets great gas mileage, is practical, but also nice looking with the new design. The EX has most of the luxury features that I became accustomed to with my sport/luxury sedan so I don't mind moving down in class to save money and get to where I'm going comfortably. Besides, most of the time I drive at a moderate speed and don't treat this like a sports car. This car is perfect for our expected baby (safe), an occasional friend, and an easy to drive tool for getting from place to place without the hassle of a big bulky vehicle. We installed leather to make the ride seem more than it is. Mileage= 31mpg

Have had my 06 for 30 months and 61,000 miles. Only mechanical problems were - broken idle pulley, misaligned window (i.e fell off track). Yes, I average 36-38 mpg. Be prepared to live with: A TON of road noise, poor ride quality, constant shifting 5sp auto, poor power band esp with A/C on, and various (ever changing) rattling (ranging from the right front end to the rear shelf). I guess I expected better - maybe I need to lower ' the bar' of my expectations.

I looked at other cars and chose the Honda Civic 4-dr EX because of its style, resale value and because my wife liked the way it looked and felt for her. I wanted her to like the Civic Si, but she wanted a four door with a automatic, what can I say, sigh.

I recently purchased the Honda EX 06 automatic transmission sedan. I am very pleased with the car. I shopped this car and a few others. I was suprised how bad the Cobalt ran, it was awful in my opinion, noisy cheap feel. The next one was the Mazda 3 2.0. It was nice enough but was not as good as the Honda. What is love about the Honda is how quiet the car is on the road, the doors close with a luxury car thud. It handles and accelerates very well. It is roomy inside,is well-made and well thought out. The Sat radio is excellent The Nav System too although takes time to figure out. Living in New Jersey, the one thing I would have wanted was heated mirrors. That's about it. An excellent car

A Potentially Great Car, But Flaws

Yes, the automatic shifts smoothly when accelerating normally, but if you accelerate slowly it shifts into top gear at 37 mph and groans like a cow if you then try to push it. Agree with others the head rest is too far forward and my head bounces off it on medium to large bumps. Trunk space has shrunk from 2005 and it was noticeable once I tried to move stuff to it from my old compact. Gas mileage so far (1200 miles) is no better than the old compact (about 31 mpg avg). Wiper on passenger side clears an annoyingly small space to see (due to large window). If you're over six feet, check your head room with the sun roof as it lowers the ceiling. Speakers are good but expected better with six!

I love the digital tier and it gives back when you give it gas. I can go 0- 100 km/h in about 4.0 which is really good for an 1.8L 140HP civic

I made a point to purchase a Japanese model with a VIN that starts with a J. Paid almost full price for the 4DR EX Auto. Chosen for reputation, style, and gas mileage. It is really fun to drive and handles well. The ride is smooth and it's easy to maneuver and park with great visibility. It's feels light and seems to float a little on the road but it's comfortable for day trips. I was impressed at how quiet the car is while driving.

This car is loaded with attenton to detail and lots of amazingly slick little refinements. The split instrumentation is a treat and makes you wonder why nobody thought of this trick before.

I traded in my 2005 Scoin xB and got what I paid for the ugly little thing, so it was a no brainer. I really love the driving dymamics if this vehicle. It really feels like you are driving a sports car, it absolutely handles great. The 5 sp Auto allows the RPM to stay low even @ 80 mph, this keeps the noise down in the cockpit. I really like the longer wheelbase, it helps smooth out the ride better than any other small car I have ever driven. Then there is the safety, 7 airbags, UHSS, ABS... There simply is no other car in this class that offers as much as this car does. Don't forget the resale!

Great Gas Mileage

The 06 Civic is a great ride, and it gets incredible gas mileage. On the interstate I have gotten between 35 and 37 miles per gallon in the first 1,000 miles. I like the heads up type spedometer display. Makes it safer to drive, especially in heavy traffic.

If you're considering a Civic, then you already know it's tops in safety and gas mileage. You should also know that it's the 2006 Motor Trend Car of the Year, having beat out 28 other cars for that distinctive title. What you get for the money is phenomenal. Months of taking everything into consideration culminated in my buying the Civic EX sedan, and I'm very pleased for the most part. I had the deck spoiler added on (not the wing), as well as the chrome exhaust tip. Those two add-ons have given it a European design look, and it gets mistaken for an Acura or Audi. Fun to drive, like a go-cart. Pull the one- touch sunroof back and open the front windows, and you'll swear it's a convertible!
