I only had to take it back once in 34000 miles. The plastic right front windshield post covering was rattling after 20000 miles of dirt roads. Fixed in about an hour. I get 43 to 44 mpg at 80M.P.H. on Interstate, and 49 to 51 M.P.G.around town. The best I got was in the Keys (54-56 M.P.G. (flat land below 55 M.P.H.) And yes, I would buy another one, my other vehicle is a 2003 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab truck.(17 to18 M.P.G.) 15 M.P.G. on the Interstate.

Civic Hybrid
Overall, I'm very pleased with my Civic Hybrid CVT. I have owned nothing but Honda's because of their quality and the Hybrid Civic is no exception. For the most part, performance is excellent, however, it is a little sluggish in situations where you may need a quick response (ie. merging onto a busy highway with a short merge lane). You need to be aware of this and compensate for it. This car is definitely not designed for situations that require quick acceleration. This being said, I'm still very pleased with my Hybrid and would recommend it to others. You can't beat a Honda for quality.
The car of the near future
It's a little car but it's quiet, fun, peppy, and the economy is a thumb in the eye to the oil companies. The Honda quality is evident though we have a bit of a dash rattle. The two anti-theft systems got us an insurance break. The car asks nothing special of you but beware that it's built for economy and not tire-shredding takeoffs. We routinely get better than 55 mpg in town and 48+ on the highway, better than the EPA numbers and better now than when brand new (10,400 miles ago). This is a CVT which "outmileages" the manual by a bit.
Honda Hybrid
Not the car to get. It is nothing special and not worth the extra money espeicially when you compare it to the EX model. Does not get anywhere near the gas mileage on the sticker. The car has barely broken 32 mpg around town. If they had one of those "30 day test drive" deals, I would return it.
