Good for trips
I love this car on trips, but I should've gotten a 5 speed! I live where we have 8% grade mountains that I sometimes have to go down in winter. Most economy cars even in automatic have a 1st gear option that you can manually put the car into. This does NOT! And the fact that there are no ABS brakes means pumping the brakes on straight-aways then hoping you don't slide across the corner off the mountain. It's scary. I love this car, but that is reason enough for me to get something with 1st gear as an option. Also on dry straight-aways I tried it in 2nd gear and it didn't stay where it should - it picked up speed! Hello!
Nice little car
If you compare the Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic...the Civic is far superior to anything up against it.

Honda Civic Hybrid still evolving
Overall, I really like the car but it is a basic, no-frills vehicle. The interior is plastic, not leather, which scratches easily. The wind noise, when the back windows are down on the interstate, is deafening. The best fuel mileage has been 40 mpg (we average about 37 mpg), which is less than the 60 mpg fuel efficiency indicated on the dealer invoice. There is a blind spot with the side mirrors - a safety problem in highway traffic. The dealership indicated the brakes are half worn at 12,000 miles - I don't ride my brakes so not certain if it is due to an audible popping noise. Service department trips have been very time consuming and frustrating.
love my hybrid
i drive over 25000 miles a year, so saving an estimated $5,000 over 5 yrs in fuel costs. still getting 48.4 mpg, even though i beat on the car and average about 90mph on the freeway. yeah, im a speedfreak and the 85 horses still perform well at this consistant speed.
impressed
I wasn't expecting to buy a civic. Nor was I expecting to like the new civic! I've usually bought used cars, but decided to go with a newer one with less features. Don't miss the sunroof or alloy wheels, but love the handling, fuel economy and surprisingly enough the peppiness.
