Why would I ever trade it in?

My '13 Accord now has 56k miles and is 6+ years old. So time to trade for a new car? I can't. This car just goes and goes, quietly and competently never getting below 22 mpg (actual) and often 30. It needs no repair, accelerates wonderfully and is very comfortable. But, I'm 81 years old and have to "climb"out. Do I need an SUV or a push-up recliner chair? I think I'll keep it as maybe my last-evercar because it performs so well and has NO rust anywhere. Why give up on a winner?

Update at 162,000 miles-see addendum below

162,000 miles- car still rides great, fors the bulk of my daily driving. Replaced a few piwer door lock actuators & driver side sun visor, but aside fron thise just routine service, CVT & timing chain are good. I had a 4 wheel alignment done with tge 3td set of michelins at 137,000 miles and all 4 were still within spec, they did tweak it to dial them in but didnt need much. The more miles this car gets, the more valuable it becomes to me! Original review- Really loving this car! It's been worry free and totally reliable! I have done routine maintenance without major issues. Full synthetic oil change every 5,000 miles, transmission fluid change every 30,000 miles, front brake pads/brake fluid changed at 75,000, K&N permanent air filter I clean & charge as needed, , cabin filter changes as needed, new battery at about 90,000 miles, and I started running Shell V power nitro+ 93 octane at about 80,000 miles. I was skeptical about the gas upgrade until I ran a tank and saw the difference in performance, as well as improved mileage, so I'm a believer now. For the extra cost of basically a small Starbucks coffee per tank, it's worth it IMHO. I don't drink Starbucks myself, but I will treat my car to a "Starbucks"! I got 652 miles on the last tank of gas, awesome! Currently on my 2nd set of tires. First set, Michelin MXV4's lasted 54,000 miles, now running upsized Michelin Premier 225/55-17 with almost 50, 000 on them. Will probably go back to 215/55/-17 size next go around, as mileage dropped off more than expected for new tire d/t increased surface area. As other probably have noted, the infotainment system sometimes gets hung up with my iphone, dealership said Honda tried to get Apple to help but no recourse due to "proprietary information", so no update. Eh, it's not THAT bad of an issue, usually just turn off and back on again to reset it and it's fine, plus it only happens occasionally with initial sync once you start the car. Not a big deal for me. I've had a rare "false" low tire pressure alarm, but guys at Discount Tire say that's not unusual for any TPMS during times of temp swings, which is when they've happened. Both sets of tires have worn evenly, steering is true, and this with never having performed 4 wheel alignment. I'm debating on actually doing the alignment with third set of tires, if for no other reason just to fine tune and keep things from freezing up where you can't adjust if need be. I've got a major service coming up at 105,000 miles, plugs, oil/filter, coolant change. Serpentine belt fine so far so Honda Specialist shop said will monitor. Also, it's nice having a timing chain so lifetime deal there typically. Update at 150,000 miles: Car still drives beautifully and is still very comfortable & mechanically reliable, have never needed a tow. Not bad! I did have to buy a new starter at 135,000 miles, little disappointing there as I’ve typically had honda starters last over 200,000. Also, power door locks have failed & need at least driver door actuator, $250 job each door and have put it off, using the actual key to open door. Honda has had issues with power locks before so hoping for a class action lawsuit/recall like they had for the CR-V. Driver side sun visior spring broke & now falls down repeatedly, thats not cheap at near $100, been sitting on that too. Still, while cheaper than a car payment, I’m disappointed in the longevity of these things mentioned.

I have a fairly long commute and after narrowing down mid size cars by gas mileage, the 2013 Accord was one of few choices. After drive tests and seeing what the car offered for the price, I thought is was a great bargain. It's sharp looking and has a great interior and lots of features for the price. And, the gas mileage has been phenomenal! I am averaging around 35 mpg in approximately 65/35% highway/city driving. There is one issue that is ruining my new car experience. The CVT transmission is jerky at low speeds. It is quite noticeable and irritating in my stop and go commuting. I recommend test driving the car quite a bit before making your choice to see if the trans is jerky. Update: After living with the car for three years now, I have a lot more experience with it. I am still averaging just over 35 mpg which is awesome. Probably the best part about the car. Handling is sound and the car is still pretty quick, especially for a four cylinder. The car still runs well but the trans remains a bit jerky at low speeds, although it is better than when I first got it. One annoyance is that it has a rough idle when it is cold. Once it warms up it is fine. Another con is that the car is just not that comfortable. The seats are hard and the ride is stiff. I have had to add a cushion to my seat. Also, on IL expressways, where they brush the concrete for traction, a lot of road noise enters the cabin. Not overly bad, but after driving a Fusion, I realized what a quiet car sounds like. The Accord is not that quiet, at least compared to a Fusion. Winter traction is poor as well. Worse than my tiny Corolla. Also, to my knowledge, Honda has not issued any updates to the infotainment system. They could really improve in this area as it is becoming dated. But, it does connect to my phone every time so for calls, it works well. Overall, the car is just OK. Normally I keep my cars a long time. But, I have already shopped for new cars but did not pull the trigger. So , would I buy it again, No. My next car will be based more on comfort and quietness, two areas where the 2013 Accord falls way short of. UPDATE: The CVT trans continues to concern me. A few times it seemed to slip when backing out of my garage like it is low on trans fluid. It's not. I have found similar posts on the web. As a former mechanic, I realize that intermittent problems are difficult to resolve so I have not wasted my time bringing it to the dealer as it will likely be fine when they test it. UPDATE 12/2019: IT STILL SEEMS TO SLIP ON OCCASION BUT ONLY SEVERAL TIMES PER YEAR. Fast acceleration is also concerning as the CVT tends to be very jerky under initial hard acceleration. Twice now the car failed to start right away and when it did, the check engine, traction control, power steering assist, and low tire inflation lights were on and the car was in limp mode. The code is vague pointing to throttle assembly. Anyway, each time the lights went off on their own after a day or so and the car ran normal. Again, an intermittent problem. **UPDATE 12/2019: I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO MY K&N AIR FILTER WHICH CONTAINS AN OIL ADDITIVE WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSING A SENSOR FAULT. AFTER REMOVING IT SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM SINCE. Honda used to be solid quality but they have definitely declined over the years based on my experience with my Accord and previous, very poor, experience with an Odyssey. IMO, they are no longer worth the premium that they used to be (for used cars) because many others have caught up or even surpassed Honda, according to Consumer Reports. If you want reliability, Toyota is the continued champ. BTW, I continue to look at other cars even though I will take a beating on trade in value. Update December 2017: With over 100k on the odometer the car is running well. Although I still had decent tread on the original tires I purchased new ones as the OEM tires were loud on the brushed concrete interstates in northern Illinois. The Michelin Premier AS tires are much quieter but my gas mileage has suffered going from an average of over 35 mpg to about 33. Still great for this size car. I prefer the quiet over the mpg's. Everything is still functioning well and there are no rattles or leaks of any sort. Suspension is also still performing well. The trans is still a bit jerky at times and once every couple of months when backing out of the garage and then putting it in drive it feels like I am starting off in third gear (even though there are no gears in the CVT). I don't believe it is slipping but who knows. Aside from that, the car is performing well. Hopefully the next 100k will be like it was for my 2005 Toyota Corolla which went to 200k and had shown little degradation. Update 12/2019: After test driving other vehicles I have come to appreciate my Accord more. Most other makes were not much better. Makes me like the Honda more.

9k mile update accord sport

Well after 9 months and 9 k miles I think I know the car well. First it looks great, rides well, comfy, no problems, and the gas mpg can be fantastic if you keep your foot off the floorboards. I have seen high 30s low 40s wow ! But I drive it quickly so many times I am in the upper 20s or low 30s. I am not quite sold on the cvt, don't get me wrong it work fine , can be sooo smooth and for 99 percent of people the smoother the better, but I like to feel the shifts so the car is too smooth and quite at times. It has plenty of power and on the highway it is effortless to pass and accelerate but off the line the cvt timid till 10 mph Great car

LX Sport Check your tires

After several months of searching, researching and test driving everything from a Subaru Impreza to the Lexus IS, I came across the Accord Sport almost by accident while at a Honda Dealer having another car serviced. I was amazed! The base LX was light years ahead of my 2002 model, and the sport version was equipped with just the right options, and not thousands of dollars worth of fragile high tech nonsense. An extensive test drive over more different roads than the salesman was used to confirmed my initial impression. While no one will mistake the Sport for a 3 series, the handling was precise and nimble, far superior to your average family sedan.

We also own a 2008 Accord EXL navi sedan, and so we can tell how big a jump Honda has made in several areas of this car. First, the 2013 Accord is *quiet*—which is a first for the Accord. Second, the new engine is more powerful, faster, and yet gets better mpg. Finally, the interior quality is almost Acura-like.

With 4,000 miles on my Accord, here's an update to my original post. Continue to be impressed with the power and fuel economy this 4 cylinder puts out; although, at times I do miss my prior 6 cyclinder car that had an additional 75 hp. The manual transmission is a joy to operate with short throws and well defined gates. Noticed a few quality issues such as the front defroster vent at the base of the windshield pulling up. Cost cutting is evident on the OE carpeted floor mats. They have a REALLY cheap feel to them.

For the most part I'm pleased. But the dash noise, rattles and speaks are getting to me. When I first start to drive the car after it's been sitting in the heat the center dash snaps, crackles and pops. Sometimes on rough highways there is a rattle/buzzing noise from the center dash in front of the audio display. If I place my hand on this flat part of the dash the noise stops. I had a friend video this noise just in case the dealer can't reproduce the noise. I don't know if the video will help.

Overall, it is an okay car, but not worth the money I paid for it (new). I would not spend the money to buy again. Seats can get uncomfortable on longer rides and road noise is rather loud (even with new tires). Lots of electrical issues seem to plague the 2013 accord. Ingnition system failures began just after the the warranty expired. I was talked into replacing the starter and torque converter in an effort to fix it and it still does not function properly.

Oil Burner

I'm being generous giving this car three stars. My wife and I have owned this car for three years. Currently, the car has 20,000 miles on the odometer. Since day one this car has suffered from oil consumption, at least one quart, between oil changes. I change the oil every 4,000 miles with full synthetic, 0W-20. The dealer told me this was normal. Last week I got in the car and when I started the engine I could tell not all cylinders were firing. The car would barely idle and all warning lights illuminated. After a week in the shop the dealer discovered the number one cylinder had a fouled plug and the rings for that cylinder were aligned. This condition allowed oil to bypass the rings fouling the plug. The rings for this cylinder were replaced. The car runs better than day one and the VCM seems to work more efficiently and not as noisy. Only time will tell.

The car seems to have a stiffer ride than I would expect. Seems about right for the Sports edition but not a four door. Within two hundred miles the transmission had to be replaced. I am trying to work something out with American Honda for compensation for having a brand new car with a factory remanufacture transmission. I asked for a different car but they will not go for that.

The only thing about this car I don't like is the slightly stiff suspension - and I can live with that. The mileage is good - 27/28 mpg in all city driving and 35/36 at freeway speeds. On a trip from Florida to Minnesota we got 35.4 mpg on the on-board mileage gauge and a little higher calculating the old fashioned way. Very nice! The interior is comfortable and roomy. Friends have commented that the back seat is also quite roomy. Driving this car is a pleasure - it drives and handles very well. It has very good acceleration considering the 4 cylinder engine. The only time we hear the engine is on hard acceleration.

These reviews were so helpful to me in choosing my Sport. I love it. Black int., black ext., dark tinted windows. Love the lumbar support on the drivers seat, and pretty much love everything about the car. Only a few things I miss from my last car--locked glove, tiny compartment for change--but these are teensy gripes. Honda really has outdone themselves with this new 2013 design. It's gorgeous. Holds the road, too, in a confident way. Almost bought the Coupe but getting into the back seat was a pain. My 18 year old son loves it and said he'd be just fine with it if I decided to give it to him. Wanted to love the Prius but just didn't (and I don't commute). Love my Sport!

I've had my 2013 Accord EX for almost four months. I initially rated it very high, but there have been things happen that are very disappointing. The wind noise has gotten worse and Honda doesn't seem to know how to fix it. The trunk lid doesn't fit properly and the dealership has only made excuses for it (no fix). The CVT has a judder at low speeds that is common with the Accord, but Honda hasn' t propsed a fix. The windshield has leaked twice (doesn't always leak, though, when it rains). And now, there's an annoying rattle in the driver's side door.

When I hit the 1800 to 2000 RPM's there is a vibration I feel in the steering wheel. I also may feel it in the gas pedal. I brought the car back for it first oil change and told them at the dealership. I was told it maybe the wheel alignment, which they did. The problem was still there. I brought the car back again and this time the mechanic drove the car. He told me that it is a six cylinder car that changes to a lower cylinder number that's what causes the vibration. I think they are lying and don't know what the problem is. I will ask to talk with the factory representative. The car is a leased vehicle with approx. 8200 miles.

Bought this car four months ago and have 1300 miles on it. The car is very comfortable and fun to drive. Unfortunately, the car has been back to the dealer 5 times . The seals around the drivers side window are bad. The car sounds like a wind tunnel above 60 mph. In addition, some part is bouncing around in the dash making a constant rattle. The local dealership and Honda North American did nothing to fix the problem until I made it clear I was filing a lemon law complaint. Build quality of this first year model has been below normal for Honda's usual high standards.

Extremely happy with my 2013 Accord Sport The build quality is rock solid, not even the slightest rattle from anywhere. Sport mode is fun on the highway for zipping around people. Seats are comfortable. The interior is attractive and all the materials you touch are high quality. Love the leather trim on the doors, wheel, and armrest. No maintanence costs so far except oil changes and need new tires soon. Couldn't expect anymore on reliability! Everything just feels solid and I could see myself driving it for 200,000 miles!

Update VIII: 269,415 miles and the steering column problems are returning. Practically every light, other than the "Check Engine" light is on in the dash, yet every system works perfectly fine. I've had the steering column apart several times and all looks fine but the lights won't go out. If I erase all of the DTC's, as soon as the car is started, they all return. Very frustrating! But no reason not to keep driving it. As I stated, everything works fine. Update VII: 255,056 miles and the ignition key cylinder stopped turning in the steering column. Further research taught me that this is a rather common occurrence with 2000+ year Hondas. Interesting, because it never was an issue with the 17 Hondas I've owned previously, many of which had well over 300,000+ miles on them. I removed the key cylinder and learned all there was to learn about repairing this defect without resorting to changing the key cylinder completely and reprogramming the entire security system. I'll take the older style any day. This is not progress in my book! In the process, I had to "reorient" the electric steering sensor to "center" itself so that the car didn't think it was in a skid and the anti-lock braking system try and endlessly compensate. What a hassle! But now it's functioning again. I'm over 256K miles and all is well. Still amazed at the gas mileage and the fact that this car is 99.9% original! Update VI: 230,600 miles and running strong. Currently reading 31.6 mpg since day 1 on the "B" trip odometer that has never been reset. No new parts installed other than routine oil changes still the last update at 218,200+ mile update. I did replace 2 tires on the front after hitting a pot-hole and blowing a tire and denting the rim. Wheel alignment seems unaffected, having put 6K miles on since that incident and the front tire wear is even on both sides. I'm still lovin' this car! I can't understand why Honda stopped making cars with manual transmissions. Update V: 218,200+ and counting. Still averaging 31.4 mpg since new. All original except basic wear parts and front exhaust from manifold to Cat because the "flex" portion started to fail after getting torn on some road debris. The front driver's seatback side bolster cushion continues to deteriorate from friction wear of entering/exiting but otherwise the interior is showroom pristine. The motor uses no oil and there is no evidence of fluid dripping from any drivetrain component. I'm amazed the CV joints aren't failing yet but they seem to be in great shape. I love this car! Update lV: At 193,000 + miles this car still amazes me and is still averaging 31.5 mpg from day 1 on all miles travelled thus far. Beyond the rug wearing through under my right foot pivot spot and the driver seat support padding on the outside by the door, where you drag across it getting in and out, the car is flawless. The 4 cylinder engine still has enough pep to stick your backbone deep in the seat cushions on acceleration and the 6 speed shift smooth as silk. No regrets on this purchase, whatsoever! Update III: THE BEST car I've ever owned. That's a fact! Currently sitting at 173,000 miles with 31.2 mpg average on the NEVER reset "B" trip odometer. I did change the original spark plugs, alternator belt, and the air intake tube from the air cleaner to the intake manifold about 3,000 miles ago when I discovered the tube had developed a hairline crack in it. I have hit 37 mpg recently several times since I changed the plugs. The driver's seat lumbar wear spot hasn't gotten substantially worse since I updated this past May but now the rug on the floor has worn through where my right heel pivots between the accelerator and brake pedals. Other than those 2 wear issues in the interior, the car is flawless. I understand Honda is no longer offering an Accord with a manual transmission as of this year. That's a real shame. My 19th Honda, ALL of them with manual transmissions, notone single issue with ANY of them. Update II: 5/1/20 UNBELIEVABLE is how I'd describe this car. I'm just over 168,000 miles with a 31.4 mpg average on the "B" trip odometer that has never been reset from brand new. At 165,512 miles I replaced the original spark plugs and put only the second set of brakes on the car. I use only Honda parts with the exception of an air conditioner condenser unit that I had to replace this past summer (2019) because a rock managed to find it's way through the grille and penetrate the fins. I ordered a new condenser from Honda and it arrived with the packaging perfectly intact but with crushed fins on the actual unit. It obviously as packaged that way. I returned it without any problems and it was reordered. Several days later I received a second condenser with exactly the same scenario. The package was absolutely unscathed on the exterior yet the product had crushed fins inside. Honda parts said I'd have to open every one at the dealership to find one without an issue. Forget that! I registered my complaint and ordered one aftermarket through RockAuto.com. It arrived in 3 days and was perfect. Easy installation! Other than the condenser, the car is all original except for wear and tear items mentioned below like brakes, tires, and wiper blades. I still am disappointed in the way the driver's seat left side lumbar cloth material has deteriorated but otherwise, it's an unbelievable car! UPDATE: 11/1/17 STILL AMAZING after all there years (with apology to Paul Simon)! This car has now turned 109K with no reset from new on the "B" trip odometer. Based on that odometer, the vehicle has averaged 31.6 mpg since day 1. This figure has fallen slightly since I wrote the initial review, posted below, because I am now retired and my average trip length is substantially shorter. My driving over the past year can be characterized as under 20 mile round trips, mostly stop and go. Regardless, I still affirm this Accord's fantastic quality, drivability, user-friendliness, and performance. I cannot find ANYTHING I don't like about it. ORIGINAL: I just rolled over 87K miles on my '13 Sport purchased in 3/13. It's my 19th Honda (all with 4 cylinder, manual transmissions) and I can't say ANYTHING bad about it. It's an amazing car! I've owned several Accord EX-L's ('91,'96, '99, '06), a couple Civic Si's and this car leaves them all in the dust. The best part is that it does all that "fun to drive" stuff at plus 30 mpg! I've never reset the "B" trip odometer since new so I have an overall running accounting of 32.6 mpg. At some times, when driving a long distance on a single tank I've topped 40 mpg on the "A" trip odometer and can regularly hit 38.5 mpg in the same scenario. What's not to like? My car has never needed any dealer work other than scheduled maintenance, which I'm religious about. It's still on the original rear brakes and the front pads have only been changed once. It came on Michelins and I've kept it on them replacing the originals at 62K. if I had any criticism of the car at all, it would be that I wish it had a leather seat option. The cloth seats function excellent but the fabric shows any liquid stain, no matter how slight, even sweat. That fact deters from the overall "pizazz" of the interior. I bought this model because it had the 4 cylinder, manual tranny combo as the stock set up. Why pay extra for what you don't need. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat!

Rough Ride

7 of 7 people found this review helpful

I have had a 2008 and 2011 Accord and the 2013 is the roughest ride I have ever experienced. I took it in for service as I thought this cannot be by design. The tech said the transmission is designed to downshift when you take your foot off the gas (regardless of whether you want to slow or not). The constant shifting between gears makes for a very rough ride. I constantly have the desire to shift to neutral to stop the shifting. Clearly a step down from the 2011 Accord. The Navigation system is also a downgrade from the 2011 model. Be cautious with buying the vehicle especially if you have been happy with previous accords.

Battery issues in cold weather...Upstate NY

My girlfriend lives in Upstate NY, hadn't driven her car for three days, and decided to go shopping. Returning home after a roundtrip of about five miles, she turned off the vehicle for about five minutes and it would not restart. AAA was called and provided a jumpstart, but said their tester indicated the battery would not hold the charge. She them drove the car to the dealer for their assessment. Their answer was that these Accords need to be driven every couple days at least and if not, the owner should buy a trickle charger. A trickle charger? If the car is not driven every couple days? It's a 2013 car, not a 1913. Honda needs to address this issue.

I bought a 2013 Accord with the 6 speed manual and it's fantastic. It drives with precision, yet isn't twitchy. the manual is just one of the best I've ever used - snick, snick like butter into each gear. I also love the car isn't bogged down with too much technology. It seems like every mfg. is trying to outdo each other with tech goodies, when what most people want is a basic, good, easy, yet fun to drive car. I fear this Accord may be the last of those honest, easy to drive, basic cars. If you like to shift yourself, and like a bit of sport with you r dive and don't want a ton of tech goodies - it doesn't get much better than a 2013 Accord Sport with a manual.

Worst powertrain design ever. At 1800 rpm, VCM kicks on and makes the accelerator and cabin vibrate. It's dreadful. I test drove two and both had same issue. Left a deposit on one and had phenomenal deal but just hated the VCM vibration. Car goes from 3 cyl to 6 cyl and back all the time and not just at highway speeds. We own an 11 V6 and do not have these issues. The 9th gen V6 automatics are royally screwed. Read the reviews. Owners are complaining and some have tried to lemon law. Consumer Reports also does NOT recommend the 2013 V6. Take their advice and save yourself reliability issues down the road. It's a bad design. Honda takes no accountability.

Find a better car for the money...

I bought my Accord V6 in June of 2013 and have approximately 11,500 mostly highway miles. In light, early morning traffic I average 35 MPG on a 30 mile trip to work (90% highway) which is better than both my 1999 Civic 1.6L manual and ex-2002 Nissan Sentra 1.8L manual. Engine is quite powerful - several sources quote 0-60 in 5.5 seconds which is well into BMW 3 and 5 series territory. No problems so far. I purchased the "Modern Steel Metallic" exterior with the black interior. I wish I would have held out for the tan interior as the black shows every tiny bit of lint. My only real complaint is the 'premium' stereo is not really all that premium. Great value for the money and fun to drive.

Bought my 2013 Accord Sport a few months ago, and have almost 6000 miles on it. The car handles really well, and averages about 27 mpg in town and about 35 mpg on the hwy. This Accord looks great - all black, and good fit and finish. The suspension, handling and brakes are perfect for my driving tastes. The dealer experience was super, too - I traded in my 2012 Civic EX with only 25k miles (it had been a huge disappointment).

Have just over 400 miles on my new Accord. The manual transmission is a joy to operate and is well matched to the engine. I am coming from an 04 G35, so I miss some of the extra HP, but the Accord is fairly peppy and the MPG improvement is outstanding. Not easy finding a manual transmission as dealer stated Honda doesn't allow you to 'order' your vehicle. Seats are very comfortable and the dash layout is very nice. There are quality materials throughout and it doesn't feel like Honda was trying to cut cost on the interior.

Well I originally was looking at the EX-L however did not really like the touch screen below the main screen. I opted for the Sport mainly for the wheels and the control knob below the main info screen. I prefer knobs over touch screens. Personal preference. Car feel larger inside then it looks, and the ride is firm yet in control. Was never a fan of CVT trans however I can honestly say that you rarely feel any of the rubber band pulling that I have expierenced in my Honda Insight. They may have started to figure it out. I personally liked the Mazda 6 however the only positive I had to buying Mazda was that it had a automatic trans opposed to CVT. Otherwise the Accord wins in all areas.

I have about 177K miles on this car, and it still runs perfectly. No electrical issues or technology issues. The only maintenance done on the car has been oil changes every 7,500 miles transmission fluid flush at 100K miles, and brakes, and the only repairs have been the head gasket (at 150K miles), and starter at 120K miles. I'm getting around 33MPG (575 miles per tank) city/hwy combined on 87-89 octane fuel. Great buy.

My 2013 Accord EX-L V6 w/navigation 2/13 purchase started off going the wrong way leaving my dealer's lot: 1. the car simply pulls to the left only at highway speeds. Two dealer visits within that week were a waste of time. They won't/can't figure out why this is so (any I'm not only driving on crowned roads). Had I noted this during my two test drives prior to purchase, I would have passed on this car. Annoying! You've been warned. 2. The audio system certainly is sexy and inviting, but when little things don't work like the subwoofer to the email/text message reading feature (using an iPhone 5)...or the lack of any Gracenote update installed in the car (until July 2013): grrrrrr

I purchased my first Honda after trading in my 2003 Mazda6s and so far I have been pleased. It lacks the performance of my old V6 mazda, but still performs well overall. The mpg has been around 30 combined on 50/50 mixed highway/local driving. I tested the Altima, Accord, & Fusion and ultimately the Accord won for the value and what I'm hoping will be long term reliability. The interior is nice and spacious, though the front headrests are a little uncomfortable unless you position the seat appropriately. I haven't noticed wind noise with my vehicle as other reviews stated, so maybe it is not present on the Sport models. Take a hwy test drive if you can to test for the problem.

I'll update this review in 1000 miles or so, but for now, I've just brought home my new Honda Accord Sport and commuted once to work. Absolutely no buyers remorse. Having read in a couple of places about transmission jerkiness at low speeds or road noise, I'm thrilled to report I've noticed NO such problems. Car has a fantastic exhaust note, and is whisper quiet. Acceleration is smooth and the vehicle is extremely responsive. The Sport quickly found its way to 80 mph with little prodding and felt as if it was standing still. Seating is incredibly comfortable, and the interior calming and spacious.

I seldom write reviews but given how much I was unsure about whether to lease the 4 or 6, and how much I LOVE the 4, I thought a review might be helpful to those in the same boat. I drove both the 4 and the 6 and am coming from a 1999 Accord with 178,000 miles that had a powerful V-6. I drove both the 2013 EX-L with Navi 6 and 4 Cylinder. The 6 Cylinder just seemed kind of heavy and I felt as if I had to keep my foot on the pedal all the time. On the other hand, the 4 is very smooth and has plenty of power when needed. And the gas mileage so far that I am getting on the highway (in eco mode) is slightly over 36 on the highway and around 25 in the city. It's an awesome car.

New 2013 Accord seems well built. Had two issues from day one. Cloth on seats are not pulled tight. The big issue is the wind noise coming from the drivers side window at high speeds. The dealer has tried to fix twice with no success. The Honda America rep (who was the rudest, most condescending person I have ever met) said he did not hear the noise. I read tons of other people on Accord web-site with same issue. Honda has yet to rectify problem. Dealer drove another Accord off the lot to see if that car had the same problem and sure enough it did. I would not but this car unless you can test drive on a highway to check the wind noise.

I don't know where to begin; At 6ft+ I needed something bigger to drive, getting in and out of small cars sucks when you are tall. I also wanted decent MPG and good build quality. I have been shocked by both aspects in the new accord. The seats are comfortable, the MPG is awesome, 35MPG average today, and I have yet to break it in. The clutch is smooth, and the shifter is one of the best I have driven. The ride is quiet and refined and the fit and finish feel and look 40K dollar car like on a sub 20k dollar budget.

This is my second Accord with a major repair bill (transmission, and starter motor) before it had 60,000 miles on it. Honda does nothing to offset these repair costs (nearly a $1,000 a piece.) There are many complaints on-line re. the starter motor and yet they refuse to recall the part. They were rude and dismissive when I called Corporate to complain. DON'T BUY THIS CAR!!!!

The 2013 Accord has a transmission shudder or judder in it when cold and in stop and go traffic. I have called the dealer and called Honda, Honda agrees there is a problem but there is no fix yet. I tried to get them to buy the car back, only have 1000miles on it. They won't. So I DONT recommend you buy the CVT version of the 2013 Accord.. You have been warned. I am stuck with the car, but I have contacted Consumer Affairs, BBB, and WAVY TV 10. I hope Andy Fox will call me and go for a ride in this car. The test drive was after the car was warmed up and on the highway. No stop and go traffic.Figures. Honda if you take care of me , I will stop this bad publicity of your 2013 Accord.

Runs great, smooth firm ride, handles like a BMW. Getting 33 MPG average w/36+ on freeways. Looked at the Jetta but liked the different standard features on the Accord better plus the Accord had a longer wheelbase for the freeway. Had to get the upscale package on the Jetta to get the rear view camera and larger more powerful engine. Wife is mad, thought I was getting the coupe. Says she won't drive a granny 4 door car. Hard to look disappointed when you can't stop smiling.

The car drives awesome, the CVT needs to get used to, and it becomes just fun and awesome to drive. My only concern is the noise that comes from the dash sometimes. Also, the car is a wide car for a person who came from a small Honda Civic, so I suggest to be very careful driving at the first time until u get adjusted to the size of the car, I already had 2 major scratches on the paint. Other than that, the car is great! LOVE IT

I have a 2013 Accord Sport with the CVT transmission. It has become so annoying to drive with only 3000 miles that I'm considering trading. Honda tells me there is no record of a problem and the dealer says the unit isn't serviceable. Under normal driving, there is almost a constant slinky toy or rubber band feeling that actually makes the engine rpm go up and down when it should be smoothly accelerating. There is some kind of intermittent slippage going on the whole time you are driving it. Anything but Constant Velocity. Honda is playing stupid and merely patronized me with statements like: "We'll make a record of your concern." I own a Murano CVT so I'm familiar with this technology. Edmunds asked me to update this review. I traded my Accord Sport in 2014 with only 4900 miles on it. Between the ignorant CVT transmission and the fact that it rode like it always on top of the springs, never settling down, even on smooth roads, I couldn't take it any longer. The Accord did give the best gas mileage of anything I've ever owned, 29 MPG combined, but it just wasn't enough car for me.

Having owned quite a few Hondas (12 altogether) this is by far the best Honda Accord to date. Compared with the last gen. its MUCH quieter inside and has a more solid feel overall. I have the CVT 4 cyl. It rivals many other automakers V6 engines, however it still is not as refined as the V6 offered for the Accord. Design is all relative but the controls are relatively simple and straight forward. Honda lane watch sees gimicky but after using it for a month it def. has merritt. I rated build quality a "4" because lets face it, its a new design and under warranty, I have replaced both rear tail lights due to condensation inside them. Other Accords on dealer lot had the same problem.

Have a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L, purchased new June 2013, after a few months it started making a noticeable but soft popping/clicking noise coming from the steering column when turning the steering wheel. Took it to the dealer twice, they replaced the parts covering the airbag inside the steering column (steering angle sensor & combination bracket), and then finally admitted that there is no known fix to this noise. The Honda service rep even pointed out that a few people working for Honda have experienced the same noise from their 2013 Accords. I'm very disappointed and even embarrassed that I'm stuck with a new car that makes a funny noise.

I had high expectations and have been disappointed. The CVT is jerky and stutters when accelerating at in-town speeds. The dealer checked and it shows no codes, so is within specs. But with the occasional stuttering/jerky CVT, and the stiffer struts, the overall driving experience less than desirable. I'm sorry I didn't detect these things in the test drive. On the positive side, the gas mileage is as good as advertised, or better (w/ the 4 cyli). The interior is nice and roomy, front and back. The bluetooth/phone interface is great and works well. Overall, I would not recommend this car, unless the CVT issue and the stiff ride don't bother you.

The Accord is put together very nicely. The power cloth are very adjustable and we just took our first long ride, 300 miles. The seat material is comfortable but is a throwback to the velour seats of 20 years ago. Controls are easy to operate. The EX features dual-zone climate control; heat doesn’t come on until you set it to high. Roomy and secure inside. The rear-view mirror doesn't automatically adjust for bright lights. I was a little surprised at some of the wind noise I heard. On the road the Accord is very confidence inspiring. The CVT operated flawlessly and the acceleration was impressive. At 75 mph the car is quiet and solid. And highway mileage was 33.4 mpg.

I never would have dreamed of owning a Honda Accord. I've seen them all of my life and regarded them as unremarkable. However, it came time for a new car and I tested the Accord. I took a drive in the V4 but opted for the V6 due to the automatic transmission and the power behind the engine. I have ZERO regrets with my purchase. The engine of the V6 pleasantly roars to life with impressive speed and smooth shifting. The interior is luxurious with great build quality and offers more convenience than I could ever want. My only qualms are that the Accord takes rough roads and bumps hard and that while sporty - it could be more fun to drive. Overall, great purchase and overall excellent car

My previous car was 98 Accord LX, did 140k in LOT of conditions. I also get to ride lot of rental cars. With that background, I generally agree with all great reviews of '13 from others but will focus on some issues here. The ride is rough on imperfect roads - the noise & vibrations come right into your body. CVT is smooth but the 1st gear is missed greatly for initial 2 seconds. Compared to 98 LX, cabin quality is poor. Seats are hard, storage is less and dash looks cheap. The steering is hard, my hands ache on long drives when I am moving the steering only like half an inch most of the times. My elbows are missing some support on both sides as windows and storage are bit lower.

Out of all the cars, the Honda has surpassed all them in the feel and power. I read alot of negativity on blogs and other websites, but i think these people need to get behind the wheel of this baby. After doing months of research, I finally settled on the 2013 Accord Sport and I don't regret it one bit. I got the metallic grey colour and I must say it is extremely sexy. To me the design is the perfect mix of being not too conservative but not too trendy. The interior quality is great. Soft touch all around. Couldn't be happier with it. The ride is firm and steering as natural (hydraulic) as possible for EPS. Also, this car is SOLID in turns yet it feels very lightweight. It's weird. I can see the firmness being mistaken for being too harsh though since this feels more german than most mainstream midsize cars. I personally love it and it feels like a driver's car.

I sometimes get 38.5 mpg!! the radio & entertainment is very user friendly & safe to use while driving! & dual climate control is my best friend. very roomy full sized car, could fit 2 car seats very nicely in the back maybe even three! I love that it is a full size car (good for family!!) but still has a very nice sporty look!!! I find it to be very comfortable, not to mention the back up camera is a life saver! I've experienced no problems & have no complaints. wouldn't trade my car for the world & would recommend to ANYONE!!! :)))

Lease was up on 2010 Acura TL. I was amazed when looking at the Accord. It has nicer interior, more backseat and trunk room, better amenities, equal power and much better gas mileage than my 2010 TL. Accord EXL V6 has very capable handling, great power, and very comfortable, controlled ride. And I love the seats. I looked an Altima, Fusion, Optima, and Passat. The Accord outclassed them all. And for under $27,000 and 1.9% financing, I purchased the Accord and passed on leasing. It will be in my garage for a long time.
