Mileage Disapointment
I love my new Accord. It is fun to drive and roomy. At 6'3" I can sit comfortably in the drivers seat and have an unobstructed view out the windows. Unfortuantely, I am a bit disappointed with the MPG. I use the highway extensively. Between town and the Highway I only get about 1-2 MPG over my former 2000 6cyl Accord. The best gas mileage I have achieved for this 4 cyl. has been 30 MPG on 250 miles of continuous flat terain highway traveling no higher than 68 Miles per hour mostly on cruise. Around town I am averaging about 17 MPG. For a 4 cyl. vehicle, I expected better especially since I drive conservatively. Bottom line - This is a great car but dont expect it to spoil OPECs bottom line

1st and last
This is my first Honda and it will certainly be my last! I have a 2000 Camry and I thought the Accord would be at least as good as the Toyota, I was wrong. This car has 52,000 miles on it and has so many things wrong that I don't know where to begin. (1)the rear brakes had to be replaced at 32,000 miles (2)the headlights flicker (3) it dosnt even come close to the advertised highway mileage (4)the dashboard is made out of cheap plastic that scratches at the slightest touch(5)and worst of all, the leather seats are worn out and discolored even though it has had Honda brand leather conditioner applied every three months since new.
2008 Accord after 12 years ownership
Bought brand new in April 2008. Now almost 12 years later have 68K miles. Problems are 1) grinding noise at startup (VTC needs to be replaced. $500. Defective design), 2) rear brakes at 14,000 and 25,000 miles (until Honda admitted they have a defective design and did a recall), 3) AC vibrates when car is idling, and 4) it was burning oil at 1 quart per 600 miles until I did the procedure to clean carbon from the piston rings. Now it's 2K miles per quart. That's about it. I change oil with synthetic oil and filter every 5K miles since new, change transmission fluid periodically, don't beat the car when driving, keep the paint cleaned and waxed, protect rubber parts with rubber dressing, and park in a garage. Next work is to flush brake fluid, replace serpentine belt due to age, and have radiator flushed. Car handles well around town and at high speed. Good on snow, but not great, even with top quality all seasons. Acceleration with 190 hp is fine for normal driving. What ticks me off is the bad design with the VTC and brakes. Not Hondalike reliable. The grinding at startup will get worse and puts strain on timing chain. My gas mileage is also not good, with an average around 20. Typically get 24 or 25 on highway, and less than 20 in the city.
