Used 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl gas/electric mild hybrid 5A) Consumer Reviews
Performace Car Update
Reviewed in Dec 06 and now providing an update. The car has definitely lived up to Honda quality and reliability. I use Michelin Pilot PS2 tires on 17" wheels during the summer and the ride quality and handling is tremendous for an Accord. I haven't had any problems, but the dealer did recommend I replace the rear brake pads at 30k miles. As many have noted the gas mileage is not as high as expected but it is still excellent for a 6-cylinder car. I get 23-24 mpg in city and 34-37 in the highway. Setting the cruise control at 65 mph gives the best mpg. I paid a low price for a new car 4 years ago and it was well worth the money.
15 years of ownership: want a 2nd Hybrid Accord
We used to purchase new automobiles every 2 years. We'll purchase a second Hybrid Accord soon. We've owned Mercedes and Acura sports cars before. Neither my husband nor myself want anything other than another Hybrid Accord. We've put 170,000 miles on our first with a few issues: 1. The batteries failed at year 9. Although I could achieve better mpg than printed with the batteries, without the batteries, the car's mpg is identical to that of its non-hybrid counterpart. 2. The air conditioning unit failed at year 14. The A/C is SPECIAL, difficult to source, and several thousands of dollars. I'm optimistic that the newer hybrid models have a more easily obtained and less expensive A/C. 3. The door locks failed on two doors. Three different Honda models we've owned (two were Acuras) had prematurely failing door locks. This is a quality problem that should have been resolved long ago. I'm hoping Honda has overcome this quality blunder by year 2019. Our Mercedes ownership was rife with unforgivable quality problems (the windows wouldn't stay rolled up and it rains alot where we live, the fuel gauge read backward--it was empty when it looked full, and it randomly shut off 5 of the 8 cylinders, and the cup holder failed within a few months but it was a not-covered-by-warranty-or-extended-warranty "luxury" $800 repair). Never again. We'll happily adopt another Accord and hope for another 15 years of minor annoyances.

Nice car with 10 years of ownership. Just have IMA issues at the moment. IMA battery needs replacement or repairs.

Seats hurt our backs!
I am selling this car because the fuel economy is lower than I was led to believe and the seats are extremely uncomfortable for both me and my husband. I have had to get a seat cushion from the Better Back Store just to be able to drive this car, and I still have trouble with it. I've never had a car as uncomfortable as this one. I only get 26 mpg in the winter in Colorado and 31 mpg in the summer. I do like the handling and power this car affords, though.
Rocket! Hidden Monster.
When people seek Hybrid, they want 40+MPG. This car will not give you that. What it gives you is the Legendary Honda reliability, no non- sense practicality, and utmost dynamic performance. My previous car was a BMW 325i, and aside from being FWD, the Accord performs up to par with the German Counterpart. Steering is tight, acceleration is quick, but cornering have to give it to BMW due to the RWD configuration. Only problem I had with the Honda was a Master Pwr Door lock module which was covered under warranty, and a check engine light on when I gun the accelerator. Dealership said it was a Hybrid sensor error with the electrical motor, it seems a software upgrade fixed that problem.
