Not as good as I though...
At its 7,000 miles, the car refused to start, and the dealer said it is normal... it happened again for a couple of times until I traded it in for a Nissan Pathfinder after 15 months The VTEC V6 engine is good... very powerful and smooth...but style is just so-so and interior looks cheap... the leather seats just look like plastic...the painting is horrible...I can even scratch the bumper with my nails...
A terriffic value
EXTREMELY RELIABLE with low Maintenance. Overall a great value with a total cost of only $2400 annually [averaging 20,000 miles] for first 5 yrs.. Original total cost $18,300 incl all taxes etc..- current value $7400. Only repairs in 5yrs/92,000 miles are front brakes/rotors and clock light bulb.

Matts Honda
Excellent car from the start, if you buy a Honda Accord you gotta get a V-6 It gets up and goes nicely, great handling and braking's not bad either
You'll love it!!!
You Can't Go Wrong!
Honda Accord EX
The 2001 Acoord EX is a fun vehicle to drive. It offers a surprisingly quick 4 cylinder. The exterior offers sleek styling, while the interior is a spacious family sedan. You get piece of mind when you buy a Honda, due to reliability and performance.
Accord LX Sedan
We had a great experience both with the car and our dealership. We had visited 4 other dealers, but the professionalism and friendliness was not on par with the Honda Dealer. We found an outstanding certified Honda Accord that fit our budget.
Awesome
Awesome! My Accord is the most reliable and top quality vehicle. This is my second accord, and I will not buy anything else
Awesome Car!
I have no major complaints about this car, except that the side airbag light goes on when a heavier person is sitting in the passenger seat, or I have books on there. Overall, I love driving this car!
my wife's honda
flawless in every detail we added a special simoniz treatment and the paint is still in showroom condition
Good car bad radio and dealer
The accord is a very good car. I purchased a 4 banger so power is low, but fuel mileage is very good. Quite a bit of road noise. Great suspension and brakes (abs w/ex model). Car seems to require very little maintenance, unless you follow the dealer suggestions which will bankrupt you and probably do more damage than good to a very well assembled car. Rear seating is average and trunk is small. Radio reception is very poor and I was very pleased to find out the dealer could have cared less. Their loss as I no longer have the car serviced there and will not repeat purchase.
Quality car at a reasonable price
My honda has 35000 miles. So far so good but then thats exactly what I expected from a Honda this is my 4th Honda and am quite satisfied. A quality car at a very affordable price without the frills. I am 6ft 3 in and fit quite comfortably in it. Runs smooth and I just love it, Thanx honda
Solid vehicle
Car has been trouble free. Only normal maintenance required. I always find that if you treat a vehicle (Honda, anyway) well it will last a long time. Just took a 5000 mile trip and averaged 32 mpg on the highway. Generally get about 22 in the city. We have never had a repair and the car has never failed. While I would like a new car, I have found very few that get the mileage I have experienced. I think I'll just stick with my EX.
Personal Review
This isn't my first Honda. I had a few other accords along the years as well. The car is ok for good fuel economy. I think because there is money spent the resale value/trade in value should be a little higher. I have never had any major problems with any of my accords except the motor mount and the "boots". I however will not be buying another accord again just because they all seem to stay the same. I have a V6 and still drives like the first 4 cylinder I bought back in 93. I do like them but changes need to be made... I have had a 93,95,96,98,2000 and a 2001. So, enough for me.
Honda seats
Great car, however for trips longer than about 2 hours, the seats can be very hard and painful.
You won't be sorry
I needed a vehicle to offset our Suburban's enormous thirst for fuel but one that would also work for carrying around the kids and fill in on cross country trips. I also didn't want to pay a premium new or used car price. In enters the perfect vehicle for the chore. My only problem has been not bypassing my exits as I am really enjoying its comforts and convenience. Thanks Honda.
Honda Accord Review
Had trouble with automatic transmission at 24,000 miles. Honda America replaced it completely and extended the transmission warranty from 3 years or 36,000 miles to 7 years or 100,000 miles! I am very pleased with the car.
what a great car!
For the price if you can live without power windows and locks is the best deal Honda has in the Accord. I also have a 2000 SE and sure it is great to have antilock brakes but the VP is all I need.
Review of LX-V6
I replaced my 94 EX with a 01 LX-V6 as I wanted 4 wheel disc brakes without AL wheels (my 94 lost air). Basically a very good car. I have no fault with its performance or transmission. I get a consistent 20 MPG around town and about the same on the highway as my 94 4 cylinder (29-31). Only problem has been a few dash squeaks (not typical for Honda). I find it a bit less of a "sporty" ride that earlier models but it is heavy and bigger.
Quality with a touch of luxury
The build quality is outstanding--many American automobiles don't even come close. This is my second Honda; I expect the same dependability as the previous one I owned and have no doubt I will. The automobile is comfortable in both the front and back seats; I like the position and view from the driver's seat. Power windows, locks and mirrors add a level of luxury at a working man's price. The Honda Accord--Quality with a touch of luxury.
Surprised and Pleased
Left work to test drive the 330i. Came home with an EX V6. Mileage is better, better interiour design, and the performance seemed better.
Keeps gettting better
Bought the vehicle new, have had no problems to date, Honda sent out 100,000 mile transmission warranties for problems the auto had to all buyers. I have yet had any problems with the trans. I did have to replace the coolant sooner that maint. req. The dealer recommends 30,000 intervals. Gas mileage is consistent, with the right oil. 5W-20 is recommended. I am getting 20 mpg in town, 29 hwy at 75mph. Have been very impressed with this vehicle, it just keeps getting better. Only draw back is poor paint quality on the hood and front bumper.
Never Again
I thought that this would be a reliable car that gets good gas mileage. All I can say is never again will I buy a Honda. I have had transmission problems, some covered by warranty others not. The fuel economy is not great, 22mpg. I can get better mileage from my other larger sedan that I own. Basicaly it has been very disapointing
Good Car
We have a 5 speed manual Accord that has been fun to drive. It is bit of a dog in first gear when the A/C is engaged, otherwise plenty of power with the 4cylinder - 5speed combo. The AC the second year does not cool as expected. Paint chips easily on the front plastic bumper.
Purchased new in 2001
I like everything about the car except for the fact that for me, too low to the ground. Reliability has been fine thus far, had brake job at 60,000 miles and other than routine maintenance, no problems. Tires need to be replaced in about 1000 miles (630,,,). I do wish the sound /stereo was better but I like the 6 CD in dash. The V6 gives it enough power but I wish it had more. Fuel economy is around 22MPG with most of driving done on hiway
Bad transmission
I have had the Honda Accord 3.0 L V6 sedan for 9 years and I drive it only to work with a mileage of 90,000. The transmission failed but otherwise it looks like brand new with regular maintenance. Fixing the transmission costs $4,100 at the dealer's and after 7 years is no longer covered by warranty. I though that I bought a reliable car that will drive up to 150,000 miles but not so! I will never ever buy Honda again.
Updated review after my first year
I have had this Accord for a little over a year, got it with 95k and today 07/14/2010 it has 111,895 miles. It needed a lot of maintenance to get it to the condition i have it at right now. I have replaced the timing belt/water pump, tires, battery, transmission fluid, front and rear brakes, spark plugs, and last week my rear main seal failed and it leaked about half a quart of oil in 2 weeks. It was an unexpected, not to mention early failure so if anyone else had that same problem let me know cause it was an expensive repair.I am happy that my automatic transmission is fine and overall, i am quite please with the car and plan to keep him for a while.
my accord
I bought this car through Autoweb. I got what I wanted: a car that I don't have to think about, carries 4 adults, and enough options to keep my mind occupied. The only things I don't like are the gas mileage 19 mpg average, but 25 on long trips, and there's a sqeak in the passenger door that drives me crazy.
Decent, but rotors keep warping!
I bought this car because I wanted reliability, and while the engine is reliable the brake rotors keep warping, casuing a strong vibration when stopping. Also honda sent me a notice after 10k miles that they had determined some of their cars had problems with the transmission, and that they were extending the warrenty to 100k. I guess that is pretty decent, except if I thought the honda would only go 100k, I would have sooner bought a cheaper and bigger/more powerful american car... I would think twice before buying another honda...
Transmission problem
Initially I was very satisfied with the vehicle. The car had good acceleration for a 4 cylinder. The auto is comfortable in city or highway driving. The brake pads needed replacing prematurely. The factory Michelin tire provide good traction but wear prematurely. The transmission also failed and required $2500 to repair at 140000 miles. The transmission had shifting difficulties before this. If the transmission had not failed I would have rated this car much higher.
Very Solid Vehicle
I love my Accord. I have a big V-8 truck and this is a nice change from it. It has 130,000 mile on it and it starts, runs, performs like it has 50,000 miles on it. The only complaint that I have is a bit of a strange shifting, driver window glass seems loose, and a slightly squeaky driver's seat. Otherwise excellent! I would buy another one.
I love my Honda Accord!!
I have had this car for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it. Not only is it a beautiful car (dark blue with gray interior), but it drives very well and is very dependable! My dad bought it as a graduation present for me to take to college and use for the next 5 or 6 years, and I can see myself driving it and still loving it for that time at least! I highly recommend Honda Accords.
Creme de la creme
This Honda was the best car for the money when I bought it and it still the best car 2 years, 30k miles later. Anyone complaining about a Honda lemon must be sniffing something or abuses their car. I've owned another Accord, a Jeep Wrangler, a Pontiac Crapfest, a Camry and a couple of Nissans -- none compare to the quality of this car.
PERFECT
Great gas mileage, very reliable, brillaint design in and out, its a masterpiece.
Honda Accord EX-L
The Accord has been comfortable and functional yet not terriably exciting. Our car has had the air bags stolen twice in less than two years and is a direct result form being such a popular car. As much as I like hondas I will never purchase another until the something has been done to change the conformity of the airbags. I know it is cheaper for Honda to have uniform airbags in every Arura and Honda but this only increases the value (ability to fence) on the black market.
Very good car
This is a terrific car! It replaces my '91 Mazda (307,000+ miles) and is definitely a great bargain. Seats are very comfortable in the front, much like my 2000 Camry LE V-6, and the controls are very well laid out. Even with the 4-banger, this car has solid performance, and oil analysis on both engine and transmission indicate excellent reliability. I also appreciate the relatively easy access to all routine maintenance items. The only drawback is a poorly designed back seat. The seat cushion does not provide adequate thight support for a person of average height, and the rear seat headrests, just two small bumps, are almost worthless.
A Nice Reliable Car
I just took over my mom's Accord. Its a pretty nice car. The seats are reasonably comfortable and its got a decent sound system and good gas mileage. I feel very safe in this car, and I use it as my daily driver and commute car. Its pretty fun to drive, but I'm coming from driving a mini- van, so I don't suppose my vote means much in that area.
Solid Vehicle
We have driven this vehicle for two years now with no problems. We follow the scheduled maintainence program with our dealership and have not found a complaint with them either. The front passanger side shock/strut was defective after 15000 miles which the dealership found during a routine maintainence appt. and fixed the problem under warranty. The dealership provides us with a rental vehicle at their cost during all maitainence appointments. We will definitely buy another Honda and most likely form the same dealership.
I just run and run
Transmission misbehaved at 99.8K miles, warranty covered those models up to 100K miles ! The dealer replaced it for free. They replaced also the air bag for free. Noisy, stiff, it is a torture chamber. Both rear seat panels fell off. That is all. After 132K miles, the car still runs fine. That is what we expect from a car. To go from A to B. US market Honda are hard to repair in Canada. They are not even listed on their computer system. Relatively stable under slippery condition. Pedals too sensitive. It is a Canbox on 4 wheels. But a good Canbox.
Great car
Purchased the EX V6 with dual front and side airbags, ABS and traction control because we wanted a safe car for our teenage drivers. Car runs exceptionally well - nearly as smooth as my 5 series BMW. Good mileage around town and on the road. Strong A/C (important since we live in FL).
Great Car
To be able to have a car that can do it all from riding on a cloud on the open road to letting me rip through the 5- speed transmission while having the sunroof open and changing the disc in the 6-disc changer is a great thing. And to do all of this, look good, retain resale value, and get 25 mpg? Come on, what more can ou ask for? Comfortable seating for 4 you ask? Go get 3 other people and take a test drive.
Torn between new tranny or another car
Bought my car used October 2006 with high mileage (106K), but felt comfortable given Honda reputations (friends'/family members' Hondas average 250K). I should have done more research on car complaints to avoid the tranny issue - would have got the extended warranty (poor decision on my part). I really like the car though, having put 50K+ miles on it already. I love road trip travel often, so I just get the oil checked and go! I'll probably put the $$2200 in to replace the tranny because the body condition is MINT and all other aspects are working properly.
Love my Honda
Great car, plenty of room, economical, and fun to drive. Has all the features I care about. Very nice styling, and very easy to drive. I have the 4 cylinder engine, and it has more than ample power.
Get a stick, for better fuel economy
Overall, my experience has been good. When I first bought the car, I there was a problem with the shifting. I was given a loaner, and since then it has been perfect. The dealership was very relaxing and professional. (I owned an Eclipse before, and Mitsubishi service is simply horrific.) I am happy to be driving one of the most reliable cars on the road.
Best Car I have Ever Owned
Honda VTEC engine with manual transmission = highly refined drivetrain. Just put it in second gear and rip it all the way up to 6,000 rpm. This is not abusing the engine - this is giving this Honda engine the exercise that it yearns for. Very smooth manual shifter - I can shift to any given gear at any time with a precision that takes my breath away. High quality interior materials - nothing looks or is cheap. No rattles, only one minor squeak from the seat when I do hard cornering. Plenty of storage bins. Mileage: 1398 divided by 42.366 = 33.0 mpg when driving easy, 27 - 28 mpg when driving hard. Drawback: Hard cabin air filters replacement.
I Love My Honda
I Love My Honda. I only wish I could have owned this car sooner. I get 29 mpg hwy. faithfully. The only work I've had done is regular oil changes. I have the ex model totally loaded and I love the luxury. The only bad choise I made was the low profile wheels and tires. I've decided they are for people that have time to drive 5 mph over every dip, railroad track and bump. I have already replaced two tires with side wall bumps. Other than that(and I chose the big rims and tires) I wouldn't trade it for the world. ( Thank God the PT crusier was too over priced when I need a new car)
Useless Warranty
Honda's warranty is not worth the paper that it is written on. My problem is with the fog lamps which are a dealer- installed option. Both lenses cracked twice and Honda is telling me that it is because some debris hit them. That's 4 lenses in a 20 month period and they're telling me that the part is not defective. Also, Honda issued a Technical Service Bulletin which admits that this as a problem with a defective part. Regardless, they want to charge me in excess of $350 to replace what is obviously an situation covered under the warranty. I am pursuing this with the Attorney General's office.
good car, good price.......can't beat
I have a V6 accord, and for the price, you can't really beat the reliability, comfort and ergonomics. It is pretty spacious for its size too.
Could be better
Mine is a 4 cyl/ automatic transmission. Had to replace the brake system power booster 2 wks after purchase (almost rear ended another vehicle). Now the car has developed a chugging noise in the front end and nobody is able to troubleshoot it. Sheet metal is paper thin, paint chips very easily. The engine has enough power, but you really have to punch the gas. LOTS of tire and wind noise and whinny transmission. Overall, a slightly less than average ownership experience and definitely not what I expected from a manufacturer with such reputation for quality and reliability.
Honda for good
Good quality & performance overall.
Good but not great
It's been very reliable but the threat of transmission failure hanging over my head has always annoyed me. I change the ATF every 20K. I bought a Honda for reliability and not to think about the poorly designed A/T. MPG is only OK for a 4 cylinder. I'm not crazy about Hondas insistence on using only 'genuine Honda fluids'. The A/Chas never been 'freezing' cold like some other cars I've owned. Despite all my complaining it has been a good car. It's just that when you buy a Honda you expect so much. I feel the motor will do 200K but the tranny won't. I'd buy a Ford Fusion next.
