Good only for lemonade
Three years, eighteen pages of repair orders, and five recalls. First, last, and only American manufactured car I will purchase. Ford should be ashamed to produce a vehicle of such poor fit, finish, and quality. Both front seats were replaced, all of the exhaust system heat shields, and one engine control module. Two "FEMs," whatever they are, luggage rack, and the engine starter have all been replaced. And the fuel economy is NEVER greater than 17 MPG. Good, strong, motor; when it runs. It's still a nice looking, comfortable vehicle. Too bad it's such a shoddy product.
Windstar is Bad News
The Windstar is the wordt vehicle I have ever owned. Ford has really designed and built a stinker and will not stand behind this piece of junk.
'99 Ford Windstar LX
The Ford Windstar is a nice looking mini-van, but in our case not very reliable. The van has been plagued by engine and transmission problems. After this 2nd bad FORD experience, we are afraid to buy a domestic made vehicle again. Have had bad luck!
love my windstar
We bought this van in March '99 to replace an aging Mercury Tracer that our family was outgrowing. We have done long trips each summer that we've owned the van. The only annoying problem we have had is the passenger side power door. It will sometimes refuse to close and needs to be turned off and closed manually. Other than that, the ride is comfortable and it has been very reliable. BTW-this is a 4 door LX with one power door.
Very Happy
We bought our first Windstar in 1999, have since bought a second (2002), and will shortly buy our third. I can't tell you how happy we have been. The only time spent in the shop has been for the recalls and this seems to be a very small price to pay to make sure the van is running well. With cars from other manufacturers that I have owned in the past, this includes German and Japanese cars, I have had to make similar types of repairs, but I had to pay for them.
