The best Sedan for the price and American made too

This 2015 Taurus replaced an 09 Sable. They both used the same basic car platform. These are fine cars for anyone not making the jump to Lexus or Lincoln. They are big and comfortable, yet can deliver amazingly good fuel efficiency. The Limited version I bought compares well to any competitor. I consider the Taurus the class leader. And this car is definitely American made. Engine from Michigan, transmission from Ohio, and assembly in Chicago IL. You don't get much more American than that. The car is quiet and very comfortable too. The trunk is huge. And based on my Sable, the powertrain is very reliable. Take my word for it the Taurus is The Boss! ***UPDATED Six months later and no complaints, zero regrets. The more I have made use of this car, the more refinements I find Ford included. The pleasant pull-down loop inside the trunk lid is an example. The exterior body accents go beyond anything Chevy has, but are not the least bit gaudy. Winter driving was no problem at all. The heat, defrosters, mirror heaters, everything worked great. No squeaks, no rattles, nothing unexpected as of yet. Some time after my 2009 Sable, Ford updated this engine to twin variable cam type. Definite improvement at all speeds, and the MPG got a boost too. I enjoy driving this car. I can't believe how Ford hardly even advertises the Taurus. It's a fine auto. ***UPDATED 13 months later I'm still finding things I like about this car. On a long drive the car delivered an astonishing 30+ MPG. There was one hiccup. The washer fluid pump quit and required replacement. I had the Dealer perform the repair and it was under $100 Overall I still enjoy this car every day I drive it and I still get compliments on it. ***UPDATED*** 3+ years of ownership and 35,000 miles later. This car is still doing just fine. On a long Interstate road trip under optimal conditions, this car actually delivered 32mpg on a tank of fuel. 388 miles on 12.1 gallons. Around town on Summer blend fuel the car is averaging 22.9 This will go down a bit come winter. No mechanical breakdowns at all. Ford really had the bugs figured out on the Taurus line. The OEM tires are not as great. The Michelin Primacy tires are well worn down now at just under 60k miles. And these were rotated many times. The next tires are coming soon and based on great success on other cars, I'm leaning to Yokohama Avid Ascend GT. Expect 75k from these. This is a great car. A shame the value does not hold. But, this also means used Tauruses are very affordable. And since the Taurus is gone now, used is all you are soon likely to find. ***UPDATED*** Now at 67k miles. The car gets a lot of garage rest because I commute a lot on a cycle. No car problems. Another highway journey netted me 28+ MPG this time. This car is nothing but nice. ***Update*** Now at 78k miles. Nothing new to report except spark plugs changed out at Dealer. There was nothing going wrong, I just wanted it done. I also drained the transaxle fluid and carefully replaced with Motorcraft fluid. The car continues to run fine. I am very pleased with it. ***Update Now 78k miles. Running beautifully. Quite a few highway miles lately have raised the average MPG to 23.4 and hit 30.8 on a recent tank of pure Interstate miles. I paid a Dealer to change all the front lamps. This is not an easy procedure. They actually remove the front bumper to access the headlights. At that point, change all the lamps. I don't drive the car daily. For daily, I have a puddle jumper. I still consider this car an excellent choice over other sedans like Accord, Camry. The Taurus is better equipped and cost less to begin with. ***UPDATED*** 92k miles Nothing much new. Still operates like new. Very good automobile investment. ***UPDATED*** 93.5k miles. Only 2k miles on since March. Mainly ride motorcycle, or drive spare car. Nothing has gone on with the Taurus except an oil change. Will be getting miles on this winter. The remote start, heated wheels and seats are so nice when the weather here turns frozen.

This car is best ever. I purchased the Taurus because was in the market for a Ford found this car be best in handling and drives smooth. The interior design nice with every available option in its class has lots performance. Sync system works fine as dashboard interface also a plus Taurus superb fast with a 3.5 liter engine seems like a jet driving this vehicle. I am over 6'2'' the car interior door panels and driver's seat both comfortably best w/out feeling miserable sitting behind the wheel of car all best. Love new looks of Taurus not sure if a new design coming late this year or early next year but like this generation from 2009-2015 the body styles are best Ford ever made on this car. I love every piece of metal on my Taurus from interior design to exterior looks with LED lights and performance out on the road highly recommend it being best vehicle ever worth the money buying especially doing end of year savings looking for a car with prices slashing down bit cheaper.

My wife is extremely happy with the looks, performance, handling, comfort and equipment of her 2015 Ford Taurus Limited. We find the car to be an extraordinary value for the money. She is a retired DMV Statewide Training Officer for and has trained many Examiners and accident investigators... She also holds a California CDL and has given drive tests in everything from big rigs to Motorcycles and was very impressed with the how her 2013 Taurus withstood being rear ended. She had driven her 2013 Taurus SEL in excess of 50,000 problem free miles prior to being rear ended at a stop light by a Large raised 4 wheel drive pickup. Her vehicle was propelled into 2 other cars which were in line in front of her. In spite of the severity of the crash and damage incurred totaling her vehicle, it absorbed the collision remarkably well and automatically dialed 911. She and 3 teenage girls in the car escaped without major injuries. My wife and one of the girls were taken to the hospital for observation but were released later that night. At least one person in a vehicle in front of her was also hospitalized at least overnight.. We looked, researched and test drove several other vehicles of various brands and sizes including some SUV's, but my wife found nothing she like nearly as well as the Taurus. FYI the Taurus thru 2015 is built on the Volvo chassis which Ford owned until recently. We are very pleased with this vehicle as we were with the prior one. It is a comfortable vehicle which drives well and has decent but not great fuel economy. We hope this helps

It looks like a cop car, people on the highway will move over if you drive a certain way. Huge cargo and passenger capacity. Very smooth powertrain. I have had several minor repairs; replacements of a coil pack, a fuel pump controller, and the sway bar links. All were relatively inexpensive. These replacements were inconvenient but were fortunately not unmanageable. I would prefer that the sum of these repairs had not occurred. Still, I depend primarily on this car an average 25K miles per year.

10/04/2022 upDate. Backup camera broke. About $750 to repair. I made a YouTube video to show how to fix it for $75 on your own. It was my first attempt and I made a couple of mistakes. If you try this please add instructions in the comment section to explain how to use the camera clip. https://youtube.com/channel/UC0kGzI7A8zigaM-xhrrFalw APRIL 2022 UPDATE At 71K miles water pump broke. It is usually about $350 to fix. The water pump on my Taurus 2015 is inside of the engine costing thousands to repair. There is a group lawsuit by Kessler Topaz law firm 484 270 1496 call and get your name on the suit. Because of the parts and labor shortage it took a couple of weeks of renting a car until the job was completed. The dealership was caught in the middle and they genuinely felt awful about it. *** I like the ride and handling and most things about the car. I wonder why they didn't take the effort to have people try the features. There are annoyances all over that anyone would notice and they could have changed for little or no cost. The 4 dash air vents use the same left right mechanism to aim the air flow as to determime how much air comes out. I either have air hitting me directly in my face or shut off. The center console is too wide and it bixes the users legs. Also there is little room to keep my left leg. Many drivers have a cell phone they use as a GPS but there is no place to put the phone by the dash so I have to use one of those dopey windshield suction cups. Also the USB is inside the center console but there is no place to pass wires so they get pinched when I close the cover. The dash display sometimes gives the option to see the digital compass but not at other times and I dont know why.

I replaced my 2011 Taurus Limited with 29K on it, for a 2015 SHO. Have not regreted it. I LOVE it. This car is the bomb. Fast as hell, holds a curve at 60 plus mph. It's a big car and the cabin is not tight like they say in C&D or R&T. Don't know what they are crying about? It's quite, comfortable and easy on the behind. My wife loves how it rides. She loves the heated & cool seats. On a long drive she puts the massaging unit on and falls asleep. I like the Sport Sedan feel of the car. Quite a few young boys have pulled up in those Asian rice burnners that make a lot of noise and took a double look at the SHO badge at the next traffic light when they catch up. All I can say this car is truly amazing, Thank God somebody a Ford woke up. I keep looking for something that I don't like about it and I can't find a thing. I am always looking out for the Cops as this car will go 0 to 60mph in 5.6 seconds. Thank God for the 20 inch tires and the big brakes. Loving the experience. FYI, You all need to add the SHO in the model box.

After owning a Taurus in Alaska, and having great control in snow, I knew my next car would be a Taurus. That car was a 2010. Never any issues with it. Bought a new Taurus sedan limited in 2015 when I retired to Atlanta, GA. Great performance on freeways and country backroads. Comfortable, reliable, classy! My next car will be a Taurus!

Bought used over 2 years ago with 54,000 miles and have put over 50,000 miles on the car in 27 months. It's comfortable with a big interior for my 3 boys, each right at 6 feet tall. Replaced back brakes and roters 2 weeks ago. There's an issue with the battery draining power at a rapid pace. Maintenance: Replaced battery almost 1.75 years ago and it went dead again last week. Getting battery saver message to turn off ignition. May be a problem with the computer system?

I've already driven the car to Florida and back and so far I love it. I bought it with 27,000 miles on it but it was absolutely like new in and out and under the hood. I will not bother repeating all the great details other reviewers have shared but I will say the negatives others have brought out are flat out bull crap and have probably come from Chevy salesmen. I love the ambient lighting as well and the cooled and heated seats are great. No more sweaty butt and quick warm up in the cold KY. winters. I still love my Taurus after nearly a year and have had no problems after driving to Florida and back twice.

"A Real Full-Size Road Car"

This is America's full size road car. I rented it several times during work travel then went out and purchased it. I also rented the 300 and Impala, several SUV's. But I prefer the road car and the Taurus is the best bang for the buck. It's actually the largest of the three by an inch all around, slightly higher beem, and heaviest.. It has the best safety rating. But for me it came down to road comfort for my self, family, associates, and golf friends. Most of my male associates are 6' plus and tip 200. You get the leg room, head room and ease of getting in and out. This Taurus is smooth, has a huge trunk, 4 golf bags luggage, kitchensink and other.. I can see why law enforcement guys have it. The technology is good+, power train, engine very good, and I'd recommend the 4 wheel drive if you can get it (Midwest winters). On open road and Hi-way you feel secure and "King of the Road", rain and stiff winds are minor concerns. Excellent freeway mileage, not great local driving. As a salesman I love this thing. Heard Ford may be retooling w new design in a year or two. Anxious to see it. The 2017 may be a good value if considering. Lot of car for the money. No issues at all, 2+ years

We got our 2015 Ford Taurus on New Year's Eve, 2016, and so far it has been a good car. Starting with the exterior, our Tauruses last owner had fitted our Limited with the great-looking SHO wheels, and, combined with the exterior styling that has aged well, it looks really good. The 3.5L V6 is also pretty great as well, with good acceleration for a V6 at around 6.6 seconds, but fuel economy is definitely not the best. I average around 17 or 18mpg in the city, which is good, but not great. Also, it should be noted that the car will require a costly water pump repair at around 100,000 miles to keep the engine running well. Just know this isn't a car that will get you noteworthy fuel economy in the city. More problems arise with gas at the station, where the tank will never fill to capacity, only filling to about 13 of its 19-gallon tank. That makes you need to stop at the station a lot more. The transmission has a few quirks as well, most notably where sometimes the car will have a jolting shift when you let off the gas when the transmission wants to shift. Other than that, the Taurus is pretty put together mechanically and has been pretty reliable, as well as quick. Moving on to the interior, there are many things to note about this car. First is how you get in. The Taurus sits high, almost as high as a crossover, which makes it super easy to get in and out, especially if you get a Limited with the Easy Entry/Exit feature. Next, when you're in, the dash seems to jut out onto you, which looks pretty cool, and there are the touch-sensitive Sync controls, which aren't as bad as every car reviewer says. The controls are pretty easy to use, and after about a month or so of living with the Taurus, I knew exactly what to do. There are also voice commands to control many different things. As for legroom, the car is not as good in the rear as an Avalon or Impala, but the trunk is absolutely massive! On top of that, visibility is a concern, with a small rear window and big A and B pillars, but I fit well, and can see everything thanks to the blind spot mirrors that Ford put in. However, 5 foot 5 people or shorter might have a hard time getting comfortable in the car. Make sure to test drive before you buy! Overall, I believe this car is definitely worth a look, especially since now you can get a great deal on one since it has been canceled. Update: Water pump was replaced at 103k miles. I was quoted $6,000 at the Ford dealer, but found a local shop that did it much cheaper. When considering this car, you MUST keep the water pump and timing chains in mind. Lucky for me, I caught it before any damage was done.

I have a 2015 SEL Taurus! Too many blind spots with smaller windows like the very old Taurus before they put the name on the Ford Five Hundred. It was more roomier than the Ford Taurus now. It handles great in rain, snow, & ice! Most comfortable of the Sel. It is more expensive buying it new. I love the warm bummers and the a/c bummers. Love the wipers coming on automatic and the dimmer on and off automatic. Very low MPG.

I bought a 2015 Taurus SEL 3.5 liter V6 in March, 2015. The sticker stated, 23 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. So far, I have driven 9000 miles and my overall fuel economy is 21.5 mpg. I brought it back to the dealership with 7500 to have a full diagnostic test done. They didn't find anything wrong. They said it was probably the way I drive. Definitely not true! The best fuel economy on a single tank of gas in the past 6 months has been 22.7 mpg. So disappointed! Had I known this, I would have purchased the F150. I love the overall style of the exterior! I get a lot of looks at stoplights. I am 6'4 and the driver's seat is a little cramped but still comfortable. However, the car sits up quite a bit higher so getting in/out of the car is great. The backup camera is perfect for parking. The back end is pretty high so it does take a little getting used to the rear view mirror. The trunk is huge... wish they would have taken some of that space to expand the cabin a few inches. Overall, I would recommend this car to anyone provided the mpg were at the stated 23 to 29 range.

I bought new now have 31000 miles on the car and the longer I own it the more dis-satisfied I am with it. The door posts in the front seats have a notch in them that dig into my shoulders and the seats are hard as a rock with no cushion. The car is extremely uncomfortable on a long trip. I had a 2009 Limited and loved it. Extremely dissatisfied with this car. My 2009 got 27 mpg average vs 22 mpg for this one. I also have an older VW Passat and do not have any comfort issues with it even though it is a compact. I use it for trips because it is totally comfortable for me.

A large comfortable highway car loaded with creature comfort features and technology features with great sound system. The Limited is no SHO in terms of flat out performance but the 3.5 Duratec 6 cylinder paired with 6 speed tranny gets the job done and it gets better mpg's when cruising long distance that added fuel economy goes a long way to ease the cost of traveling.

Garbage ONLY 13K MILES

Ford sync system is horrible at only 13k miles. First every once a week for 3 months it would keep disconnecting and unpair my phone. After that it got worse to the point where it would connect my phone and recognize it but it will not play audio though the car but my phone shows the volume going up for the bluetooth system. What I would do than was to delete device from the system and add it fresh again. That was working for about a month and now it does not connect at all. I have never seen a interface be that stupid in a car. Driving wise the car has poor handling around simple turns it feels like a mid size pick up truck. The transmission shifts really slowly and sometimes it will downshift for no reason when your in sport mode when it should really be uplifting. I will hit upshift but the car decides to downshift instead.

Not a bad choice for a first time car, it meets my expectations and I highly recommend it.

This is a well-performing domestic all-wheel-drive sedan that exceeded my expectations in almost every respect. Stable on the road with good steering response and a comfortable ride, gas mileage ranged between 22-29 MPG, depending on conditions. The noise level was a bit higher than I desire, but still acceptable.

So I picked up this 2015 Taurus Limited in June 2022. Gorgeous car. Came from a 2009 Taurus which was huge on the inside. This Taurus is not as big but feels cozy with the leather and the super quiet interior. Lots of bells and whistles. Common issues are malfunctioning back up camera and a fuel module that is prone to go out. Module was DIY and $31. The back up cam..still experimenting with contact cleaner. The ford my touch system gets the job done. Takes some time to adjust to it but like anything you get used to the touchscreen and buttons. Kind of like a Star Trek console. Super modern. Good acceleration and such a smooth quiet idle. Flex fuel is a mixed bag. You use more of it so the usual 87 grade can be just as economical. My dream car I didn't know I wanted! Hoping to have this car for a long time.

My husband absolutely loves that he can get in and out without feeling claustrophobic in our Taurus because he is such a big guy. Great on gas mileage, lots of space for suitcases for that vacation getaway!
