Great car fun to drive
This car sounds as good as it looks and runs even better. Great fun. Everything about the car is good.
I love my Taurus
I had my Taurus se sedan for about 2 years now, and I have to say its been great. Like any other car, minor things go. All I had to replace in it since I had it was the starter and two front tires. No big deal. Thats normal parts to fix. I just replaced the battery not because I had to but because I wanted a brand new one good for 5 years. Other than that its been very dependable. Starts up everyday. No dings, dents or rust on it at all. I love the style. Like it a lot better than the newer styles out now. Iit drives very well. Handles very well. As long as you get an oil change every 3,000 miles. I love the power seat. 6 different adjustments.
Transmission Frustration
I bought my car this summer at 70,000 miles...much higher than the other reviews I've read. At 78,000 the transmission went out today. It's currently in the shop and I will find out the exact details tomorrow. I'm just glad I got a good deal on this car. I love the rest of it. It's fully loaded, and can really mooove when there's a working transmission. I travel through 3 states for school, so hopefully it will hold up.
My Experiences
I purchased my 1999 Taurus SHO used with 46970 miles. A few months after my purchase my transmission failed at about 48,000 miles. My passenger side power mirror quit working. Also one of my rear seatbelts became loose and wouldn't retract back into place. Otherwise my Taurus was a good looker but not reliable. I now have a 2002 Taurus and I am already having problems.
Transmission Mechanics Companion!
Bought the car used in oct,2000 with just over 17,000 miles from a ford exec, and the rest of the story is pretty much crap history! Car now has 46,600 miles and so far these are repairs been maid,Tranmission(what an epidemic)sensors, air conditioning failure, drivers side window failure,cd player skips, crackel in stero, roof strapps have been replaced three times, sun roof whistles terrible at high speeds, etc, etc, etc. In closing is there anyone out there who's owned a sho 96-99 who hasnt replaced the transmiision yet? I sure wish i would have took another 10,000 and bought an camaro ss like i was going to!!!
