It has a ton of room and leg room throughout the vehicle....seats 7 and with the seats folded down in back, it has a LOT of storage room. The pick up is great, it rides comfortably and smoothly and the traction control is a great feature. I put new Michelins on it and front brakes. And, the dual AC system is super cold and takes care of all the back end of the vehicle! Bucket/captain style chairs for each row makes it roomy for folks of all sizes...! Had an issue with the traction distribution switch staying on; Had it taken care of at the Ford dealership in Cape Girardeau by Rob, the Svc. Mngr. Who did a great job. No problems since.

Great Car. Too bad they are no longer made.

This was by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. I serviced it when suggested. Outside of oil changes, tires and brakes, it required absolutely no major repairs. The vehicle was great for traveling with a family. It has tons of cargo room and is comfortable. It averaged between 19.5 - 21.0 miles to the gallon the entire life of the car. One of the top features is the third row seating. That came in handy in a multitude of situations.

Why is Ford killing it?

We replaced or 2005 Dodge Durango with the "T Rex" in April of 2008. we have loved it ever since. It has done nothing but impress us and our neihbors since we got it, and we continue to get comments on its classy styling, which several people have mistaken it for an Audi station wagon. The 3.5L V6 is more than adequate for the Taurus X and it accelerates strongly and has plenty of reserve power. The interior is made of high quality plastics and the transmission shifts very smoothly. Overall it is a very impressive vehicle for the price and am very happy we chose this over the Volvo V70.

New in 2009

My wife & I got this new in 2009 as we have 4 kids to transport, at the time from 16 down to 6 and sports from soccer to cheerleading. As of August 2012 it has 125000 miles. If I were on a budget, this is not a car to rack up miles. The radio has never worked properly and was replaced by dealer 2 times; the transmission was replaced at our cost for $3.8K 2 months ago (I have since learned the tranny is an issue on these vehicles); the power steering is on its way out and if I do everything myself it will be another $500 and if I don't $1000. I am on 3rd set of tires (average quality from Sams) on 3rd set of brakes. Mileage on highway between 22.2 and 24.1 even now.

So Far So Good

I've had the X for about two weeks now and I've really enjoyed it. The main issue with its predecessor, the FreeStyle was that it was underpowered. This has been corrected with the new X. Unfortunately the mpg has suffered; I'm getting significantly less than the 19 mpg comparison figure or the 16 city mpg listed. The crossover has been surprisingly responsive, the braking smooth, and the ride comfortable. There is a few fit and finish issue with the running board but it is not major. I upgraded with leather and the DVD entertainment system and am very happy with both. The utility is great as the third row seats fold flat with a very quick and easy 3 step process. Good job Ford.
