My third Ranger
So this is the 3rd Ranger I’ve owned, the first was a 1984, the second a 2008 and this one is the biggest. I also owned a 1998 F150 so I’m pretty much a Ford truck guy. I bought this truck used with 33K on the clock, it’s an XL with the STX and FX4 packages and the Co-Pilot 360 safety system. If I had ordered this truck, this is probably how I would have ordered it too. I bought this truck in Sept of 2023 and so far it’s been very reliable for me, but I’ve only put 4K on in the 6 months I’ve owned it so time will tell. I frequent the Ranger5G forum and am aware of all the issues that people have been reporting / complaining about and I haven’t seen any on my truck. I plan to keep this truck for a long time so I’ve done the maintenance work myself, fluids etc to try and keep it running reliably. The acceleration is great, the little turbo 4 hauls; and transmission shifts fine, and gas mileage is good for it’s size, I get over 24 on trips and around 20 in town, not bad for a 4500# truck. The seats are comfortable for me 5’7” and also for my wife, (under 5’). She drove it a few times and has no problem with it’s size although she likes smaller cars. It’s a high step up into the cab but the factory running boards are a big help. The ride is very soft, you can feel the solidness of the full frame on rough roads, and the highway ride is very good too and very quiet. My truck has the smaller 4” radio display, and while the larger 7” would be nice the smaller one is more than adequate. I stream music from my phone via bluetooth which works well. I have the vinyl floor instead of carpet, but the truck came with Husky floor mats that cover everything up anyways. My truck also came with the spray in bedliner, a bed mat and the factory BakFlip tonneau cover which I like a lot. The tailgate locks automatically with the doors which is a plus. Lots of aftermarket accessories for these trucks too, so guys tend to go a bit crazy modding them. The rear seat is just OK, I wouldn’t want to be back there on a long trip. Storage wise there isn’t much space to put stuff, the seats do fold, but it doesn’t help much. Servicing the engine is decent, spark plugs are accessible, oil filter by the front wheel, but there is a skid plate that has to come off it you want to change the oil. Ford includes a cellular modem on every one of these trucks which allows you to lock / unlock and remote start the vehicle from a smart phone, a very cool feature. All in all I’m pleased with her. Update 10/31/24 Still running fine, 42,000 on the clock. To keep her good, I changed our all the fluids, differentials, transfer case and transmission with a new filter. I let the dealer do the oil change and filter so that if I ever to use my powertrain warranty, there will be a history they can look back on. On a long trip of about 400 miles she got almost 26 mpg which is great for this size of a truck. And yess I’m still pleased with my purchase.

Comfort equals size with the Ranger
The comfort level depends on your physical size, larger individuals will have a more difficult time with the front seats and leg room since the Ranger has 2" less legroom than comparable vehicles like GM,s twins. I did not find the front seats comfortable or the front leg room acceptable for me. People under 6' might have a totally different take, however. I liked the Ranger generally but if one is not very comfortable sitting in the seats, it's difficult to feel "good" about the vehicle.
