I bought my 1996 Ranger a little over a year ago with 113000 miles on it and i have since brought that total up to 143000 miles. The truck has required very little work, other that the basics like oil changes. In fact, the only thing i've had done to it, that was of any consequence, was the replacement of two belts and a tensioner. I would recomend this little truck to anyone and i am saddened that it has come time for a new car. I hope that the next owner enjoys it as much as I have.

I have had my '96 ford ranger 4x4 for over 2 years now. I bought it with 42,000 miles and have put 23,000 miles on it. I haven't had any engine troubles what so ever. The quality of the interior leaves a little to be desired. I have found a few tears in the upholstery. I would suggest getting the 4.0-liter V6. The power is with any extra cost. As far as use and abuse I have hauled hundreds of lbs in the bed (about 16 sheets of drywall) and didn’t have any trouble. I have also had the truck off the ground while driving off road. The gas mileage….. stinks. I get 300 miles off of an 18 gallon tank.

I've now owned my Ranger for 4 years and through Minnesota Winters of -10 to -15 below zero at nights it always starts and runs very well. It has always been a very reliable truck. It has a nicely designed dash when speaking of controls for air, heat and they work well too.The real only negative is I have had off and on issues with my check engine light turning on and I have it checked and they can't make sense of it. I have had 3 different shops look into this issue and get nowhere.
