This cross over vehicle has the space of a minivan the power of a SUV and the gas tank of a car and Beyond reliable and can be used in everyday life as well as life's unexpected moves I've used this car to move furniture and to take family on a road trip vacation

3rd engine 2010 Flex Lemon

Get AAA if you get this vehicle, you will need it. Checking out multiple forums I’m finding you either get a LEMON or you absolutely love it. Bottom line if you’ve got the resource$ for major repairs it’s otherwise a fantastic ride. It sucks that such an amazing vehicle can be plagued by so many issues. If you don’t believe me check out the past and future depreciation of these vehicles. BEFORE you buy any where meet the people in your local Ford dealership SERVICE department. You will be there often and these engines aren’t designed for the average mechanic to work on. The engine has to come out of the bottom to do many things and that’s a fat labor charge right off the bat. A tail light replacement was $500! Another driver backed in to it and cracked it & offered to pay to fix it. Zero body damage, just the $500 light & labor cost. Currently Sitting @ 145,000 miles and on it’s on its SECOND engine. I Purchased this 2010 in mid 2012 with odometer @ 20,000. I was widow with 4 kids still at home and made the huge mistake of paying in full. On their way to have the vehicle detailed the windshield got a crack in it, they used one of the warranty windshield replacements I had. When I bought, it I purchased all the warranties available, I didn’t have the time or energy to deal with anything breaking down. I Purchased a 100,000 mile engine warranty. (Or was it?) The water pump broke inside the engine at 101,000. That’s when I found that I really purchased a 80,000 mile warranty. Seemed like a bit of a play on words, more likely a purposeful manipulation of words & sales tactics made by the finance department who puts all that together. When the water pump in the engine broke Lafayette dealership service department told me I would need a new engine & wanted to charge me in excess of $7K for the engine. After 5 months of no accountability I finally went to the manager for of the delarship & came to can agreement that Ford will replace the motor & “all” I’d have to pay for is then “$2500” labor to install it. Our Flex had JUST been in the shop 1,000 miles earlier getting a fuse that keeps blowing fixed and needing its 2nd new battery and then a starter. The interior is amazing - I LOVE the styling of this vehicle. The roominess, the comfort, the ease of putting the seats down. Not ALL Flexes have these issues although I know multiple people who have had multiple problems and it seems like these forums weed out situations like the one I have and remove them. My biggest beefs are with the SERVICE department at the Ford in Lafayette. They suck. FORD itself is not owning up to the fact that this specific vehicle has been discontinued for more than one reason… the boxy style is NOT the issue.
