Used 2005 Ford F-150 Regular Cab Consumer Reviews
'05 FX4
I bought this truck last Monday and I have to say I am well impressed. The truck is very well laid out with features. The 300 hp 5.4 runs great with lots of power. Transmission shifts smooth.
Nice, but
An excellent vehicle except for 3 things: tall rear end makes visibility bad out the back, lack of dead pedal leaves no firm spot for left foot, and freewheeling transmission prevents use of cruise control in mildly hilly terrain. Traded it for a Murano after 8000 miles.

Great truck!
Over all the truck is fantastic, offering a lot of room and plenty of options. It is with out a doubt the best ride I've ever gotten out of a truck. I do think that Ford could have gotten a lot more out of that 4.6L V8 than they did. Specs rate it at around 230 HP, which I found surprising. But it still has plenty of power for every day driving and hauling needs. Fuel economy could be better, but with a large v-8 like that it actually performs really well in that department. I have gotten 20 MPG for highway use and average between 12-15 for city.
Great Truck
Great truck so far, I have people always telling me how great it looks. Only problems is when I had a trailer hitch installed they had to remove the anti-vibration device to install it.
not so happy
When I first got this truck it pulled hard to the left during braking. it took 3 months for them to fix the problem. It has 3 vibrations, 1 in the motor they say it is normal per Ford. They replaced the driveline, they rebuilt the rear end replaced the rotors, the calipers, brakes, and changed something in the fuel economy system. It now gets 16 mpg, through all this I still have two vibrations and a wobble at 35 mph. I now have a different mechanic looking at it. He says it looks like a driveline problem and motor vibration, and something to do with the transmission, due to the 45 to 55 mph vibration.
