Make sure to buy from Reputable Dealer. Ran great for a year then when driving over a bridge, the axel broke almost taking me over the bridge. Tried to get to replace and they about it and said it was a control arm so it's not covered under the power train warranty. Wasn't able to get any information about an inspection they say they performed when purchased. Will never buy another Ford.

Good for a few years, but then it's garbage.

8/20/20 update. I’ve owned it for a few years. Put about 40,000 of my own miles on it. She sits near 100,000 miles now. Just had the rear turbo leak the other day, $800 fix parts/labor, and that leak has caused the front control arm bushing to disintegrate. Showing some door dents because it’s made mostly of aluminum. Otherwise, full disclosure, it’s been doing well. 3-star-review well. It will get 21-22 MPG combined if you don’t break 70 on the highway, but you go over that or get excited easily, and you’ll be in the mid teens. If you want something more stout in this class, go Highlander or Pilot. Or, go bigger with the Yukon/Tahoe. This is not a 200,000 mile hand-me-down car. Original review: Let me start with this: you can not get a 3-row for less than 40,000. You can not get a 3-row for less than 40,000. Keep that in mind when shopping around at different brands. If you can't afford 40,000, you can't get a 3-row. ////I'm going to lump the Highlander, Atlas, Acadia, CX-9, Pilot, and Explorer in one class. This thing is short-term ownership garbage. I had better luck with a 2017 Acadia, which was unbelievably smoother, had better technology, but poor build quality as well. I've been told to stick with a newer Highlander, but if you have a soul, I'd go with the Atlas or CX-9 after a few years of new model proof /////This year Explorer has been nothing short of a nightmare. Keep in mind that it's the sport with Ecoboost engine, so YMMV. Still, there have been three wheel bearing failures (different wheels) causing the alignment to never be perfect. ALL Explorers have bad wheel bearings at 65k (research). The engine has had a stretched timing chain, which is unbelievably common. I replaced the water pump because it's common for that to fail and cause a complete engine seizure (it's internal and timing-chain driven). The transmission shifts harder now than it did 15,000 miles ago. It's all under warranty but that doesn't make up for the fact that it's been out of commission for a cumulative 6 weeks to fix everything because Ford's warranty program is slower than the DMV. Absolute trash and mine is the review I wish I had listened to when I first got suckered into this handsome vehicle. ///Now if you were to lease, I bet I could write a different review. It's got tons of punch. It has the best acceleration out of anything in its class, though the new Acadia has an only marginally slower 0-60 time and A MUCH simpler drivetrain. I don't know about the Atlas but I imagine it's good as well. The front seat fits my 6'3" 210lb frame easily, and it's quite comfortable for long trips, though the alignment issue is a nuisance. The entertainment/nav system in the 2015 has all but become unsupported... So little bugs like the nav crashing frequently, or the Bluetooth cutting out occasionally, do interfere with an otherwise quality entertainment system. For utility, it's OK. I managed to push a full size snowblower into the back, but don't expect to do anything significant with this... There's no off-road capabilities despite what the AWD knob in the center tries to imply. This is simply a more masculine minivan (3M) which should be its own category, and after a while with a kid, you start to hate your own ego and wish you just had sliding doors and reliability haha. ///Anyways, if you like getting 2/3 of the gas mileage the sticker says, paying for an empty spot on the driveway, and waiting for the next light on the dash, then look no further! Ford had a customer once, but you guys lost it and about $3,500 in warranty claims when you made this disposable crap. I'll see you at the next bailout, when you actually file chapter 11 instead of taking out government loans!

I love my explorer! I love everything about it. It is definitely built Ford tough. The materials are superb and of good quality. The interior has a classy look to it and the seats are ridiculously comfortable. I do wish the entertainment screen was a big more interactive and big. Otherwise its the perfect car. Has lots of cargo/trunk space which is a bonus because I have young ones and need to carry a stroller and other goodies.

Not Lovin It

Owned this car for a year. Tried to love it. Not a real SUV, Doors are large and cumbersome, entrance is easy if you like a sedan, Navigation system impossible to see under certain lighting conditions, and way to complicated software for just plugging in an address. Cargo space is ample, for SUV.Seats not comfortable for long drives, requires constant adjustment. Steering is sloppy, rear window visibility poor, (I know they have rear view camera which is helpful). Exterior is nice looking, interior is like a black hole. Too much space between console and seats and everything falls down and disappears.
