Used 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Crew Cab Consumer Reviews
Just misses the mark
Was a unique vehicle has too many little nagging problems to really enjoy ownership. The A/C fan quit within first week. Has had a noise in powertrain since new never fixed the dealer can never verify. Has recently developed a annoying popping sound while driving dealer has order parts per Ford TSB. Gas door was replaced a year ago because the hinge chipped the gas door opening. The tires were replace by recall.

Luckier than Most?
I currently have 54,000 miles on my Sport Trac. At 53,000 I had to have the dust shield on the front brakes replaced. Had to have the bolt holding the driver's seat to the floor replaced shortly after I bought the vehicle. The squeeking brakes gets me a lot of unwanted attention -- but the dealer also says that can't be fixed. Just read about the 2 new recalls. I presume that most of you had your hood latch replaced with the first recall.
Ford Explorer Sport Trac
My Sport Trac is very comfortable and fun to drive. Fuel Mileage is decent at 19 mpg average. Although it has ample pep, considering todays technology, Ford could improve performance and fuel economy just a wee bit better. Before I purchased this vehicle I was undecided between an SUV or pickup, but the Sport Trac has proven to be a nice mix of each. Would recommend! You get plenty of looks too.
Nice little truck
Always runs well, designed with ordinary maint (brakes, oil, etc.) in mind. Very simple to work on. Fun for offroading, but fairly low clearance. Several safety recalls, but no problems under warranty.
