Used 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Crew Cab Consumer Reviews
Sport Trac review
This vehicle is very versatile. From loading up friends for the lake or tools for the job, it handles it. It is sporty, rugged, and yet comfortable with many upgrades available. It has suited my lifestyle perfectly. It drives very well and has a quite ride. Biggest complaint is the gas milage but it IS an suv, what can you expect?
what more could i want?
I did not buy this as a "performance" vehicle, and with the versatility of the truck-suv-touring car, I can not fault it at all. Love the ride and comfort on long 500 mile + trips, the fuel milage is better than my better half's Liberty. The four wheel drive works very well, brakes could use an upgrade. There are many aftermarket items to sport it up, michelin tires make all the difference over the original goodyears. Needed new ball joints after 20,000 miles, original ones not sealed properly.

Just misses the mark
Was a unique vehicle has too many little nagging problems to really enjoy ownership. The A/C fan quit within first week. Has had a noise in powertrain since new never fixed the dealer can never verify. Has recently developed a annoying popping sound while driving dealer has order parts per Ford TSB. Gas door was replaced a year ago because the hinge chipped the gas door opening. The tires were replace by recall.
Great SUV!!!
Great truck, comfortable yet versatile!
Wish I owned stock in ford parts dept.
Before 53,000 I had front axle seals, brakes and rotors, iap sensor, oxygen sensor, intake manifold gaskets, transfer case, power steering pump, and lower balljoints replaced. All of which the dealership said was normal. Granted this is the same dealership who recommended this vehicle for ease of maintenance.I am currently getting ready to trade it off as the dealership has offered to give an exceptional deal after showing them my full maintenance list.
