Finally got it!
Bought a new 2013 Escape in December of 2013 because I could not locate a new XLT or LTD 2012 model. I was never totally happy with the new body style. When a 2012 model was for sale at my local Ford dealership, I traded my 2013 model for the 2012 model. It is exactly what I had been looking for in 2013.

America's Top SUV - NOT WORTH THE $$$
Bought this car new, five yrs old now w/75,000mi., the rig is falling apart ! Rust blistering around the rear wheels (which I see on most units), tailgate rust, tailgate will not work (does not open any longer), horn doesn't work (took to the dealership-they claim the part is $60......to put it on is over $200 !), heater will not blow on your feet (where else would you want it), when we got it, it averages 28-30mpg, 5yrs old it get 23mpg ??? My v-8 truck gets the same and this unit has a 4cylinder/2wd ! Trying to buy USA, hard to do with the crap FORD makes. One yr later in a Honda CRV, smooth as glass, can't hear the engine run/compared to the diesel ticking noise the Ford made, 30mpg, probably the same size car, and got a 7yr rust-out guarantee ! HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY !!!

My FIRST SUV - Loving it !
First off, this is my first new car in 30 years, and have been a Saturn owner for the last 10... I needed something to transport my keyboard gear to the shows. Now, there is plenty of room for all the equipment now. Owned for only 6 weeks and the OD just turned 1800 miles and it has been 100% problem free thus far!
Love it but it's a Ford
I love this model and not the newer models so that is what made me buy a 2012 Escape (it's a V6 which isn't an option for the Model for the reviews). Bought it used in 2014 with $17k miles and now have $135k miles on it. The road noise is okay. There is rust around the back wheel wells (had this with my Ford Windstar too). Motor blown at $120k miles so I replaced it. Recently had water on the ceiling and floor after a hard rain (googled and had a clogged drain tube in sunroof and it's dry now). Running great with no problems now and I plan on keeping it until it falls apart. It's comfortable and roomy for long trips.
