Overview

Though it might seem obvious, the Cullinan is, quite literally, the Rolls-Royce of SUVs. Imbued with the same incredible luxury and a head-spinning amount of customization, the Cullinan mixes both modern and traditional luxury into an SUV. Power is derived from a massive twin-turbocharged V12 engine driving all four wheels and is available in two states of tune: 563 horsepower and 592 horses in the Black Badge models. Seating for either four or five is possible depending on the rear seat configuration.
Most every Cullinan is built to order, so it will be rare to see two identical examples on the road. But for 2024, Rolls-Royce is introducing what it calls the Blue Shadow for 62 lucky buyers with some very deep pockets. Based on the Black Badge model, which packs 592 hp and is capable of more athletic handling than the standard model, the Blue Shadow celebrates the transition from blue skies to the dark of space with a dazzling, rich blue paint job, unique interior upholstery and trim as well as matching luggage, and a 1:8 scale model of the Blue Shadow Cullinan, just because.
As far as ultimate luxury goes, we think it's safe to say the Cullinan doesn't really have any competition. That said, there are other ultra-luxury SUVs should the Rolls-Royce just not tick your boxes. The obvious competitor is the Bentley Bentayga EWB (as in extended wheelbase) but you mustn't overlook the Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS. Of course if you just won't drive anything but a Rolls-Royce, there's the more traditional Phantom on offer.
Which Cullinan does Edmunds recommend?
Even with the ability to build the Cullinan any way we'd like, this year we're inclined to recommend the Black Badge Blue Shadow edition. Not only is production limited to 62 vehicles, but we can't get enough of the deep blue paint, black exterior trim and the absolutely over-the-top outer space-themed interior detailing. We also love the idea of getting a full set of matching luggage as well as the included 1:8 scale model of the Blue Shadow Cullinan.
