Ride is smooth, not too much body lean for a fairly hefty vehicle. Pick up is responsive. Interior is pleasant, comfortable, with the only major problem being the gearshift in the way of the audio controls (will be fixed on the '05 model.). Gas mileage is not terrible for a SUV this heavy with a v- 6. Exterior is well made, no cheap plastics or easily scratched paint. The four-wheel drive system is made for daily commuting/travelling..not made for four wheel off-road adventures. Interior road noise is noticeable, but not overwhelming. Overall, I am very satisfied with this vehicle, great performance for a relatively cheap pricetag.

Bought this car brand new and have never had any problems, just regular maintenance, still going strong. Hope to get a lot more miles out of the car, now has 87,000 miles, maybe get 200,000?

Picked up my 2004 Escape Limited (silver exterior, black interior) in Sept. 2003 and it has been a great vehicle thus far. The ride is smooth and I really feel connected to the road while I am driving. A nice, classy design to boot. The leather interior is top-notch, and the MACH stereo system is far and away better than my brother's stereo on his 2003 Eddie Bauer Explorer. Love the heated seats!

So Far my escape has been great except for a power steering hose clamp that leaked in the extreme cold. It gets 22mpg in the city so far with only a couple of hundread kilometers on it.
