Don’t trust the eco boost engine
There is a lot to like about this SUV. This was the only car I test drove because I was so sure it was the one. Ford is ahead of most other car companies in terms of marrying technology and price. I purchased the 2017 Ford Edge titanium and loved all the bells and whistles that came with it as well as the size and comfort….I wish I could say the same for the engine. The 2.0 L eco boost engine is a lemon! At 66k miles I noticed my engine light on and my coolant was extremely low. 2 mechanics couldn’t find an issue…. I had my spark plugs and coils replaced, more coolant added but I started noticing it was driving rough and white smoke came out of the tailpipe. Apparently there is a known issue with this engine where coolant leaks into the cylinders and can cause your engine to overheat. Ford is very aware of the problem, but no recall exists (there are 2 class action lawsuits). When I called customer service they said it was out of warranty and that they couldn’t help, but did ask if my engine was on fire?!? According to the TSB the only solution is to rebuild the long block engine. I sold my edge and will never buy another Ford.

Ford Edge Titanium defective engines. Don’t buy.
We bought a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium. Had ever service interval, oil change and all service done at Morrie’s Minnetonka Ford in Minnesota. Put 77,000 miles on it and the engine coolant is leaking into the engine. They have recommended we find a new engine and pay $7700. It’s not covered under their warranty. This happens so commonly that Ford can’t find any replacement engines. Not even 1 in the country. There should be a recall on this. It’s a complete scam. Don’t even think about buying this car.

Sporty Enough?
First the pros: outstanding engine that uses regular gas. Great acceleration, turbo lag is acceptable. Plenty of cargo space. Adequate AWD. Nice fit and finish. Nice safety and automation features. The Cons: Not nearly sporty enough. Select shift transmission isn't user friendly. Sport mode isn't. Can't predict what gear it will go into when downshifting and downshifting is very slow. Steering is heavy and not adjustable. Sport suspension isn't sporty enough. SYNC system is difficult to use. Nav system is lame, can't enter info while car is moving. If synched to an iPhone, can't use Ford nav system at all. And now they want several hundred dollars to update the nav database.Only two USB ports in front and none in back. Rear lift gate foot activation is easily unintentionally actuated. Overall: after 27,000 miles still fun to drive because of great engine, but would be a joy to drive with better select shift transmission and improved steering feel and suspension.

found along the road dead
WE were impressed the car until it had 1900 miles on it. The transmission started acting up then went out. The dealer said they would rebuild it but decided to install a new one in. Hope full after two week in the shop it will be ok. If I have any more trouble I will be going back to a GM I never had any problems with GM car or truck. I was a loyal GM employee for 42 years this was the first ford I ever bought. We liked the style an size of the ford edge that is why we bought it.
