I had a Mercedes previous to this car. I thought I was taking a step down in luxury, but it doesn't seem to be that way.

We had a supposed "this has never happened in the history of Ford" breakdown. The high pressure fuel pump stopped working two miles after my wife left the car lot upon final paperwork of buying the vehicle. The Ford Pass app works on Apple and Android devices. We ended up getting rid of our Microsoft phones, because NO ONE CARES about this issue! NO ONE at the dealership gave us any information on phone numbers to call for help if the vehicle breaks down. The only information we had was our salesman's cell phone#. He came to our aid, and made sure we got the vehicle towed back to the dealership. He made sure we had a loaner vehicle for the 18 days we had to wait for the service department to figure out what went wrong, to order the parts, to get an emergency order on a back ordered part, install the four parts needed for this particular pump, and then test drive our brand new vehicle. It had less than 60 miles on it when it died. They fixed it. We own it. We now have just over 10,000 miles on it, and the dealership barely knows who we are anymore. We get conflicting email notices concerning when to bring it in for maintenance, and a part that was supposed to have been put on order when we did bring it in for the 10,000 mile checkup just over two weeks ago has yet to arrive at the dealership. Who knows when that part will come in, and then we have to bring the car in for that part to be replaced. Supposedly, it will only take 30 minutes to replace, but it took over 4 hours to get an oil change and the first maintenance check, even with an appointment in place... A year later, and we have had it in the shop a few more times for what should have been basic repair issues that took too long to fix and too long to get parts for. The Dealer's Service Department is the worst I have ever had to deal with - Wynne Ford in Hampton, VA. They promised a lot, and have failed on all promises so far. They can't even keep my phone number in their system after giving it to them on multiple occasions, and also giving it to their VIce President... UPDATE: Had the engine replaced @49,000.00 miles due to a check engine light check. One more major issue, and lemon law applies here... Nuff said.

Other.than getting about 14 mpg in local driving I find my 2017 Ford Edge a fine SUV. It is responsive, powerful, easy to get in and out of (I am 80 yrs old) power seats are comfortable and everything works as promised!

With less than 20,000 miles when accelerating the car completely shut down. I lost all power so it was hard to control the car with no power steering or power brakes. The car was towed to the Ford dealer and they had to replace the throttle body and it was on backorder because it was a common issue with a technical field service bulletein alerting dealer service managers. 2 other cars in fleet also needed the replacement part. It was all done under warranty but presented a real safety concern. I now have a 2020 that is running ok. If I were to buy one I prefer the normally aspirated 6 cylinder engines than the turbo 4 cyl. when offered even though that is becoming rarer to find. You give up some mpg but I'd rather have a smoother running engine that does not have to work so hard and will last longer. Most companies moving to turbos to meet CAFE ratings and the many new turbo engines have issues. Some just poor design. even BMW designed their 6 cylinder twin turbo with a turbo sitting above each head of the engine! It makes the engine run extremely hot burning a lot of oil while it deep fries the heads and seals. I would also stay away from CVT transmissions. I had one in a Ford Freestyle and it whined when going up a grade and dealer said that its ok and just nature of that type of trans. Many CVT failures too like in Infiniti cars. Do your homework on specific make, model and options is best advice Update on the Edge Titanium. Transmission went out and needed replacement with less than 70k miles. Company chose to keep me in a rental instead of replacing the transmission. The issue was repairable but labor at the dealer to fix it was nearly same price to replace the enitire transmission. Estimate was nearly $8000. Very glad I did not own this POS. One of my kids is in need of a car and I took very good care of this Edge anticipating possibly buying it at a discount when done with it. We bought my friend's used 2007 Acura MDX with low miles instead.

Quite a Buy for a mid sized SUV

If you want the luxurious ride of a Lexus 400 but can't afford the price, this may be the car for you. A smooth ride with good acceleration when desired. Very comfortable seating, quiet ride(not quite as good as the Lexus I tested) and above average instrument panel both visually and with hands-on. Traded a Chev Equinox LTZ and the turning radius is much improved as to what I had with the Equinox. Mileage about as expected given i have a heavy foot even though it is a 4 cylinder turbo all wheel drive. Would highly recommend to anyone looking at the Lexus 400, Lincoln MDX etc that can't afford the price tag. 1/2024 and I still feel the same. Thinking 3 more years.
