Time to get rid of your Prius, get this car!!
I LOVE this car!!! I had a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid prior to this and wasn't enamored with the Hybrid system in it. With the C-Max, Ford has hit a HOME RUN! The system runs great and the switchover from electric to gas/gas to electric is seamless. I love that I can cruise at 80mph in electric mode! We went to San Diego from Phoenix and it used only 3/4ths of a tank of gas,(it has a 13.5 gallon tank). I thought it was totally cool going down the mountain doing 72mph TOTALLY IN ELECTRIC!!! Driving around town I am getting 60 to 70 mpg as displayed by the computer when I shut it off!!!! The controls are easy to use and my kids think the efficiency leaves in the display are cute. I like the visibility out of the car and the built in blindside mirrors are great. I have no complaints about this car and I highly recommend it to future purchasers. I think that because the hybrid system is so good Ford should put it into the Escape. My youngest daughter keeps saying she wants my car!

Leaves the Prius in the dust
I wanted a hybrid as most of my driving is short rides in the city, but I was used to driving a large sedan and didn't want to give up that cossetted feeling. I test drove a Prius and felt like I was in a golf cart. It was noisy, slow to accelerate, and sloppy on turns. The C-Max, on the other hand, handled beautifully and was quieter than some luxury vehicles. So I bought one and am delighted with it. I'm getting 46.7 miles per gallon and climbing. The dashboard driving coach, which is easy to understand and doesn't distract you while driving, will make you a better and safer driver. Really, it has transformed me as driver. I used to roar up to red lights; now I start stopping hundreds of feet before a light. As braking regenerates the battery, I find myself hoping the light will turn red instead of stay green. The driver coach has made driving as much fun as a video game. Having the C-Max has turned driving which I used to regard as the price of getting somewhere into a lot of fun. On the down side, the rear seats are like sitting on a board and there isn't much cargo space. So, if you always have passengers and need to haul around a lot of stuff, you'll probably want a different car. But, for me, this car is PERFECT. Yeah, Ford!

Great little car for tall people!
I have had my 2015 C-Max for almost a year now. It has been one of the best cars I have owned, and I have owned over 60 cars. At 6'7", it isn't easy for me to find a comfortable car, especially a small comfortable car suitable for running around town! The C-Max has great headroom and good legroom combined with easy entry and exit. The hatch has excellent room for Costco runs and more, and can really swallow cargo with the middle seats folded flat. The "hands free " hatch opening feature is terrific! There's been a lot of controversy over C-Max mileage. I am quite satisfied with the 45 mpg overall I have had since getting the car. Short in town trips will often net 50 to 60 mpg and higher. I am completely satisfied with the car and like its ergonomics and power over the Prius models I tried, especially at my height. I think it is too bad Ford will probably drop the model after 2017 or 2018, but perhaps the replacement will be better yet!

Reliable and fun to drive
I've owned my 2015 C-Max hybrid since 2016. I have over 87,000 on the vehicle. I'm averaging over 40 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway. Most of my miles have been on the interstate at 77 MPG. The car can go faster and can get the highway patrol's attention if you're not careful. My city driving is a shorter commute and I've found that if I do lots more city driving in the city the mileage is usually better than the promised 42. This car does very well, MPG wise on driving 45-65 MPG and I've gotten Prius-like MPG figures. 45-65 MPH is it's wheelhouse. The car is comfortable, and I like that it sits higher with good visibility. It is quiter than my previous 2007 Mazda 3 or my 2001 Grand Caravan. Controls are easily accessible and I liked the vehicle health report that could give you an update on oil (synthetic) life, but Ford phased out that convenience. The car uses regular gas. I don't like that it does not have a spare tire or donut but it comes with a repair kit. This has proven an inconvenience once but I was able to limp to home using the repair kit. Only two issues with the car since I bought it. The throttle had issues at 32K. I was able to still drive the car at slower speeds with the electric motor coming to the rescue. The A/C compressor needed to be replaced at 72K. The former was covered under warranty and the latter with the service contract I purchased. Overall, the instrumentation helps you maximize the car's potential and you will get better than average MPG if you don't drive like a race-car driver. I feel that this car was put together well and Ford tried to do it right. Too bad it didn't get the love it deserved from the "professional" reviewers and people ignored it. This car would have been better with a larger battery pack but I have not been disappointed by this vehicle.

Happy Hybrider
Purchased January 2019 with 20,000 miles on it. 9,000 miles later - extremely happy ! Around town mileage averages 47-48 and just completed 3500 miles averaging 37-39 going 75-80 with the a/c on the whole time ! Pickup is impressive. ..... Smooth delivery like turning a dimmer switch up. !Quiet, comfortable seats and yes, doesn't hold a great deal of luggage but can't have everything ! 7/22/22 update: still love this car. Replaced tires and oil changes are the only expenses I've had since first owning this C Max. Intown millage is consistently between 42-44 mpg.
