Used 2009 Dodge Journey Consumer Reviews
Now a Granny Car / SOLD FOR A NICE TRADE IN
**Update, I sold the Journey because I got a heck of deal on a trade in. It only had 26000 miles on it and had I not fallen in love with another Durango, I would still have it. Use it a lot. I purchased brand new and still am under 20,000 miles. Switched jobs and now only drive 6-7 miles a day, but drive around town. When the first set of brakes needed replacing, along with the next 3 times, the guy at the dealer would say, "you're not driving enough", WHAT? What does that have to do with brakes rusting? The car drives fine, space to pick up from Lowe's and car pool. My biggest complaint outside of how many sets of brakes I've purchased, the keyless entry, sets off the alarm sometimes and then it takes, using the valet key to get in, which triggers the faster alarm, put the key back together and sometimes putting it into the ignition and starting it. Or hitting the unlock button while the key is in the ignition, or drive like I stole it. That is a real madden problem that a lot of people have yet nothing ever addressed. I will be selling it very soon and buy a smaller car..my first priority is that the alarm on the keyless entry button is far away from the unlock or lock button. That alarm crap is old. UPDATE***2019 I traded this car in because the back passager side door kept collecting water inside of it. Clearing the holes let it drain, but weird. Also the sun/moon roof started leaking into the sunglass holder. So while driving, I'd brake and water would leaking all over me, the radio. Well I have a used 2015 Durango now and so far, none of the quirks from the Journey but I miss that wonderful radio I could load my cds into the computer and listen to my music.

Giving my Journey back due to so many problems
I bought my 2009 journey about 6 months ago and it has been sitting in my driveway the last 2 months due to grinding when trying to drive and transmission fluid pooring out of it:(I bought it because it's roomy and my family and I like to take road trips but this was a bad buy we had to replace 3 tires already and to me the problems we are having means its not a safe family vehicle.I am not paying on it anymore and I refuse to buy another one,not worth the headache or the money its sad to say but true.Good luck future buyers if you want a lemon this would be a good choice.

Seat cover stains
From the day I drove my new car off the lot I have had problems with water stains on the seat cover material. I have been trying to get the company to do something about it for over a year now. They are supposed to let me know by 10/21/2010. This is clearly a defect in the material. Even condensation from a cold soda can will leave a stain.
Never Again
Bought our lemon 1 yr ago. Problems started right away. Passenger window works when it wants to. Visor covers fell off. Windows go down by themselves. Replaced brakes, rotors & tires at 30,000. Car runs with no lights, air and radio. Had radio replaced. CDs would not eject. Electrical issue too many to mention. Losing power constantly. Hesitating when you pull out from stop sign, very dangerous! But to date our biggest issue with the vehicle is our paint is gone on both sides of the vehicle near bottom of back doors. We are down to bare metal. In fact it is rusting at this point. We are told its an environmental problem and its not covered. Huge chips of paint coming off the car. NEVER AGAIN
Great Value for the Price
Compared to Equinox, Acadia, Edge, Flex this is a great vehicle for the price. Overall it's a great utility vehicle. Tows 3500 lbs, has a ton of features and storage. It looks cooler than a van and has a peppy engine. This vehicle has good some bad reviews for being under powered. First off if you are going to by a cross over that seats 6, why would you buy it with a 4 cylinder engine? I have a Chevy Cobalt (which I love) that is 1/2 the size that has a 4 cylinder. Have common sense. Brake issues have also been sited as a common problem. Ride 10' from the car in front of you and the brakes will go out in 10,000 miles. Have common sense. I love the Journey. I recommend it.
