I traded in a '97 (which I will NEVER recommend!)(had a 3.0 engine) to get this newer model in hopes that Dodge would've corrected most of the engine problems. It hasn't been bad but now my exhaust is starting to smell AGAIN. This disgusts me. Also the engine space is a little better but still hard to do self maintenance to the vehicle. I probably will not be purchasing another Gr. Caravan in the future and because of the smell look forward to trading it soon if the service department can't take care of the problem.

my husband was one of those"mini vans are for women" until one day he was hunting and his truck got stuck up on the logging trail. not only was i able to pick him up, i was able to take him further. it went over huge rocks with ease and never damaged the van. he now loves the van...also it is able to keep up with a bmw z-3! love, love my van...lots of room too

I love the Dodge Grand Caravan. It is easy to handle, very comfortable and I can easily get five loud eight year olds or just one squirmy two year old into it. The ride is smooth, the pick up is great, and the interior is sleek and convenient.

While it is no Honda Odyssey, at least that is what I am told by those rich enough to afford the Honda minivan, my Dodge Grand Caravan Sport is fun to drive, versitile, and, so far anyway, reliable...and for thousands less after rebates and negotiations than what people are paying for a comparably equipped Odyssey. This is my second Grand Caravan. My first was a 1999 with the same engine that gave me no trouble whatsoever. Dodge continues to impress me with the Grand Caravan and I will be back in a few years to get another one.

DODGE WAS THE ORIGINAL WHEN IT CAME TO CARAVANS AND THEY HAVE ONLY IMPROVED OVER THE YEARS THE SLEEK LOOK MAKES IT NOT ONLY A FUNCTIONAL VEHICLE TO DRIVE, BUT A STYLISH ONE AS WELL. THE EASY TO MOVE REAR SEATS MAKE IT EASY TO TRANSFORM THE VAN FROM A FAMILY VAN TO A CARGO VAN- GREAT FOR MOVING FURNITURE! THIS IS NOT YOUR MOM'S OLD MINIVAN...

My wife and I decided that after our third child that we needed to purchase a minivan. We looked at and drove many different vans including the Toyota, Ford, Pontiac, and the Honda. The Grand Caravan had the best ride and comfort for the money. We bought the van with a factory DVD player. WOW it is amazing how quite the kids are when listening/watching a video. With the head phones on the kids my wife and I can still listen to the music we choose without disturbing them. The 3.3 is a great motor but I wish it was it had a little more pick-up. Should have gotten the 3.8 I will remember next time to get the 3.8L. What a value for only $26,000.

Upon the completion of our 2000 Grand lease we hesitated to select Dodge a second time due to several issues with our 2000. The room and ride the 2000 delivered was enough for us to chose Dodge again. The improvements in the 2003 have made our decision a positive one. If reliability remains high we will return to Dodge for a third.

I have owned this van for 1 year. In the last year, the following items have had to be replaced. Torque converter in transmission, alternator, power steering pump and now another phantom noise from the rear of the van. Also, with the quad seating, it is nearly impossible to get into the rear bench seats. Thank god the warranty is decent, I am sure I will be back the service dept soon.

Fun Van to Drive

We are foster parents and we just got our second child and realized we needed to trade in my wife's Mercury Tracer for a Grand Caravan. So far, we have been very happy with our purchase. This is a sporty looking van and has been very reliable and fun to drive. I'm 6'4" and have plenty of leg and head room. It came with a VCR so we also bought a portable DVD to plug in to it. The kids LOVE to be able to watch movies on long trips. The only complaint that I have is that the gas mileage is pathetic compared to the Odyssey and the Sienna vans. I couldn't fit in those, but I'm not disappointed. As a matter of fact, I'm looking to trade in my car and get a Caravan also.

This is really a great appliance. Have had the van since new and pushing toward 100,000 miles. Very few problems. This is our 4th Chrysler van and we can see the improvements from the tie up with Daimler. More solid feel to interior. Weak points are brakes and tranny. But if you stay on top of maintenance, they'll get you by.

The driving dynamics of this van are very similar to the ones I wrote about for our 1998. The only real differences are the more powerful engine at higher RPMs, the slightly better gas mileage and the higher seating position for the driver (not a good thing). This van is pretty much a fully optioned van with DVD video system, Infiniti audio, leather, adjustable pedals, power doors and other goodies. With the DVD system, our kids often ask "Are we there already?" after one of our frequent 5 hour trips to the NYC area. Geez, what a pleasure.

This Vehicle has been absouloutely wonerfull for the last 25,000 miles we looked at the Pontiac, T&C , And Honda. They didnt compare at all to the Gran Caravan Ex. We have it all fully loaded with leather power doors and liftgate 3.8 liter 215 horsepower engine 4 disc CD player etc. For only $26,678 an excellent value! Also we have 0% APR For 60 months this car has amaizing excelleration for a minivan the engine is much more refined than the honda. and feels alot more peppy than the pontiac.

Nobody I know didn't like this. I know many people that own Honda vans, and I did too at one point. But this is so much better. It's much more fun to drive, and the sound system is by far the best I have seen in a minivan, certainly 100 times better than that in the Honda minivan. The liftgate certainly attracts eyes, and nothing has broken down so far (16000 miles). Certainly the best minivan out there, aside from the Town & Country.

Great Value

We've had the minivan for 4 months and have put about 3,000 miles on it. Not the slightest hint of a problem. My wife drives it most of the time around town and she loves it. The power doors/liftgate are indispensable. I get to drive the car on the highway and find it smooth and comfortable. Power is fine for us, but we are not aggressive drivers. Gas mileage is about advertised, we get 25 on road trips, but 18 otherwise. We bought the minivan over a sedan mainly for hauling things and it's great for that. It's hauled a bulky NordicTrack treadmill and a ton of building/landscaping supplies from Lowe's. Much more practical than a SUV.

Power Steering Noise

Ever since I had the power steering hose replaced under the recall, I have had whining and noisy noise from the unit. I have taken it in repeatedly complaining about the noise without resolve. Last time I took it in was told, "Problem cannot be solved" I will never buy another Chrysler product due to the attitude of Chrysler. Let the Buyers beware of the tactics of Chrysler and their dealerships. Used to be dependable but no longer in my book.

We bought this van because we own 2 large Greyhounds and also a small business. The interior is quite spacious and fulfills all of our requirements. We added a roof rack and running boards and these have helped to increase the comfort and utility of the vehicle. Also, we periodically buy indoor/outdoor carpeting to make a safe surface for the dogs. Repairs have been minimal, consisting of water pump and front brakes at 35,000 miles, drivers side power window motor at 22,000 miles. There is a whine from the power steering pump when it is below 45 degrees, but I've controlled it with Lucas Power Steering fluid. Probably will need to replace the pump this fall.

Shafted again

In July of 2004 I wrote a review with concerns whether Dodge had cured it's tranny problems and I was experiencing tranny shudder and slipping into a false neutral. This was at 29,000 miles. At 35,000 I had the fluid changed and then at 44,000 they had to do a major rebuild on the tranny and replace the torque converter, now 14,000 miles later the same problem is here again. Do I attribute this to a lousy transmission that was to be upgraded and now reliable for 2003 or a mechanic that doesn't know what he's doing. They will have to rebuild it again now at 58,000 miles and one wonders if it'll be another rebuild just before the warranty expires or do I dump it! Unfortunately, Adios Dodge
