Pacifica in NYC
Having two toddlers, I was looking into an MDX truck or Honda Odyssesy Minivan. Unfortunately, I opted for the new Chrysler Pacifica--it looks better than it drives-I also got more for my money than a foreign car--so I thought! I get alot of "what's that car?" Little do they know- After an extra $7,000 on the top of the MSRP I thought I hit a homerun. Well it was a foul ball....Let me begin. It bottoms out, can not see rear view parking-mirrors should adjust, as there should be a camera in the rear for parking into my navigation system, this "crossover" is eating my gas with no power.
Impressed so far
Our long driveway slopes from 20 to 35 degrees. So during snowy weather, two wheel drive vehicles don't stand a chance. The Pacifica's AWD goes up and down the hill with very little slippage and gives us confidence. (We had the dealer swap the OE tires with Goodyear Forteras) We have been extremely pleased with the comfort of the ride and the quietness of the cab. In fact those were the 2 main reasons we chose the Pacifica over the Pilot, which we found to be rather stiff and noisy on the highway. The rear seats are comfortable, even the third row is very sedan like.

This car is destroying my savings!!!
Purchased this car with 50k miles on it. Since purchase is has been to the dealer for a total of about 3 weeks. We had to rebuild the first motor, then replace it 6 months later. Had to replace the intake manifold, motor mounts 3 separate times. If it can break it will. It now sits in a parking lot awaiting a tow due to it stalling while idling through the lot. Cant get rid of this thing because its a chrysler and its worthless to the dealerships, 9k dollars upside down in the loan due to lousy blue book value.
outstanding
great new model for chrysler. it is often mistaken for a lexus. chrysler has a winner.
love at first sight
I've owned and/or driven many good cars. My last car was an suv and it was big because we have huge dogs. I was looking for a new suv and had driven the Volvo xc90, various Toyota suvs and a Mitsubishi Montero. When I went on my test drive in the Pacifica, i knew that this was the car for me. Having owned 4 Mercedes, I can see Daimler's influence.
So far so good!
Just got my Pacifica, I have less than 1000 miles on it so far. Power is better than expected, and I've gotten 19-20 mpg in 70/30 hwy driving. No glitches or defects so far, although I question how durable the power seats will be long term. Ride is very comfortable. Love the style and the high seating without the climb!
a lot for the money
The Car is a modern station wagon. The power isn't great, but it will do for a mother of 2 and 2 dogs. You have to be carefull of blind spots. About the same as any other SUV. Its unique, but will it last? It has to Mercedes bet a lot on it. Shares a lot of interior style with Mercedes. You get a lot of car for 35g. Much more than GM. The DVD is great. I give it high marks for toys...Average for power, good for ride. Don't pay more than invoice. They gave me 500 under plus 3000 cash back. They aren't flying out.
MY PACIFICA
ANGLE OF A-POST. ATALL PERSON WILL HIT THEIR HEAD. THE STEERING WHEEL ADJUST IS A LITTLE BIG , COULD BE MISTAKEN FOR THE TURN SIGNAL. THE RADIO VOLUME NOB IS A LITTLE CLOSE TO THE SEEK BUTTON GETS KNOCKED OFF THE STATION.THE DVD BLOCKS THE VIEW OUT THE REAR WINDOW. THE CAR IS A EXCELLENT CAR AND I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IT A B+ FOR ME.
Our Pacifica for the first 4,000 miles
Have a 2000 300M that we like and were looking to get a newer one, but decided this would work out well for travelling. So far it has done so. Very comfortable to travel in. Would have liked better mileage, but it beats the sticker when on a trip, so can't complain too much about that. Only have 4,000 miles so far, may get better as it breaks in.
Pacifica gets an A+ for safety & style!
The Pacifica gets 5 stars overall. It's safety ratings are #1 in all categories. The comfort and ride is luxurious and the standard options match most luxury SUV's on the market. The 3.5 6 cyclinder 250 hp engine can be added to for a better 0-60sec acceleration rating (currently at about 9-9.5sec). Maybe with an additional 25-50hp or a V8 option this too will improve. The vehicle does well with it's passing acceleration. As for price the Pacifica can't be beat since Chrysler added a $3,000 manufacture rebate. Many dealer will add to this with between $500 to $4000 in additional rebates making this vehicle the best buy for under $30,000!!
Wifes new ride
I work with the high line automobiles, really liked the quality and styling of this new vehicle, Im impressed, more horespower would be nice but is adequate.
overall fun to drive
Had window gear replaced. Clicking noise in tight turns. Was told it was in transmission. Both were fixed and is still working. A air noise in sunroof is still there after two inspections. Service manager says he hears it. But they don't have a fix. So it is declared a "No compromise". I guess tha means they hear it,can't fix it, so live with it. Hard to ignore when it's right over your head. I have heard from other chysler owners having the same problems with sunroof on other models. Other than that I really do enjoy driving my Pacfica.
great wagon
drives like a car, firm and quiet ride. great body panel fit. big tires and wide track makes the car very stable. With the side curtin airbags it makes you feel safer with grandkids in the back. And it looks great!!
If BMW won't build an X-7
Style. Room. Surefooted. Smooth. Features galore. Overall a suitable car for a man with a family and a need for better than average handling and weekend runs to Home Depot or Lowes. Our two labradors love to make nose prints on the back windows. Car expresses some reticence to climb mountain roads at altitude with anything resembling athletisism. If BMW would make an X-7 or 7 series wagon, the folks at Daimler-Chrysler would have had no opportunity to build it for them. Granted this car lacks the build quality of the Bavarian it aspires to be.
Bought it Used and Love It
I love to drive this wagon/suv. I bought it used it had 37,000 miles. I did have three experiences with the car stalling in about a weeks time(two after it sat outside in the cold and one on the highway), but it hasn't done it since. I also chalked it up to letting the gas mileage get below 30 miles in the tank before I filled it up.
Attention Getter
We recently purchased the Pacifica after experiencing a roll-over accident in a GMC Envoy. We targeted this vehicle because of a lower center of gravity, thus less likely to rollover. Just returned from a 2100 mile roadtrip and was very pleased with the ride and performance. MPG was higher than expected. Many looks from curious people seeing it for the first time. Very impressed so far.
Transmission Night Mare
At 35000 miles transmission began mis-shifting, jerking, 11 weeks 5 visits at dealer between 35 and 67000 miles Told transmission OK rebuilt AWD. Told I believe they thought I had unrealistic expectations. Mis-shifting when down shifting 60 to 80 mph. At 67,000 miles on the highway transmission failed completely. Dealer told me transmission not repairable. Fortunately had extended warranty. Now low gear shifting OK; still mis-shifts at high speeds. A bad quirky transmission.
Dream used car is a Nightmare
Now has 59,000 miles. Loud clicking when turning to park and corners- mechanic cannot locate problem. Already fixed sway bar joints thinking that was the issue, nope noise still present. Interior leaking during heavy rains in 3 spots (front pass door jam, sunroof & along reading lights in front. 4 times this year that I have had get a jump start within hours of it being driven & they say the battery is good (March 08. Had to replace battery prev within 6 mths of owning. Within 1st 4 mths, driver window mechanism broke, window fell into door & had to drive to replace in 14 degree weather. Low tire light comes on for no reason. Depreciating at $500 a mth, so good luck trading in. DISAPPOINTMENT!
This car is a real blast!
We weren't planning on getting a new car this year, but a rear-ending accident, totalling my Chrysler Town and Country suddenly put us in the market. We were pretty much ready to by either a new mini-van (not my first choice) or a large SUV when my wife saw a commercial for the Pacifica. We decided to take a look over the weekend and halfway through the test drive, we were both sold. The Pacifica is so unique in many ways both my wife and I love it. And we get plenty of attention from the curious where ever we go.
Great Chrysler
Good alternative for a minivan, and not the mommy mobile.
Worth the money
The Pacifica handles and rides excellent. Small to medium holes in the road are barely felt when driving. Very quiet inside the car while driving. Sound system is excellent. I like how the second row adjust front to back, and the center console is great for storage and drinks.
Pacifica 2004
I found the vehicle quite responsive and causing a great deal of questions and attention. The mignight blue color shows every piece of dirt or smear. Do not recommend. The interior leather is a beautiful piece of design and work. Small thing, but I love the analog clock. In former cars, I had great difficulty reading the digital types. I have only driven 1100 miles so take my critique with a grain of salt,
Kool Ride
Saw the Pacifica at the 2003 Pittsburgh Auto show. Wanted a change from the Town & Country vans we have been driving. Love everything about the car except two things. Being 6'7" I need leg room. I would have more if Chrysler would redesign the tilt lever and also move the ignition placement. Twice I've hit the key with the car running and have shut off the engine. My left knee is a tight fit between the door and Tilt lever. Chrysler please fix. Other than that it's a great vehicle. Ordered the INFERNO RED car with light Taupe interior.
Proud to own American
My wife and I are very satisfied with the Pacifica. We have owned, Hondas, Toyotas, Mazdas, Nissans, as well as other American made cars. It is the best vehicle that we have owned. It is very solid (like a Volvo) and handles well. The styling is very popular with our friends.
MES' Pacifica
I am totally satified with my vehicle. The only thing that I think needs improving on, is Engine noise at high Rev and fuel economy.
Outstanding vehicle
Granted,we have only had our Pacifica for 37 days, but we've had it long enough to say that it is the finest driving, finest riding vehicle we have ever been in-bar none. It is everything we wanted, and more. One interesting side note-it really seems to cause a lot of staring. If we pull up next to another vehicle at a street corner, more often than not, we notice people checking out the car.
Red Pacifica
We drove a number of these before we bought one and loved the way they road. However this one after we bought it seemed to ride rougher than the others. It seems to shake back and forth when going down streets at 35 to 4o mph. Highway driving is great.
Nice Luxury SUV at a decent price
I've had the Pacifica AWD for about a 1 1/2 yrs (bought it used at a decent price) and the only complaint is the gas mileage but I knew that buying it. My needs changed so I travel more now so want something similar with better MPG but can't haven't found anything I like better yet but an '07 (4.0L engine) Pacifica. I have a loaded one and don't want to give up all the features.
Problem with no solution
Purchased car 2 months ago and have driven physically had it maybe 3 wks it has been back to the dealer sitting there because it would just shut off while driving. No matter where you are on the highway, back roads doing 60 or 20 making turns or going straight it will just shut off then hopefully you can coast safely to the side. It hasn't killed anyone yet so Chrysler has "no fix" As we speak it sits in clinton with "no fix" and I have a great rental, may i recommend the Yukon? It's a reliable car!
Awesome
I went from a mini van to the Pacifica. It has more room than my mini van. I have 2 sons that are both teenagers and need lots of room. They love sitting in the bucket seats and have more than enough leg room. They do not feel cramped at all. I love the convience of the rear latch opener. It handles well on the road and the options included are superior!
Great new car for 2004
I bought my Pacifica in February, picked it up in the middle of a snowstorm, and it was great. I thought going from an SUV to this car was going to be a problem, but it wasn't. It is a great car and my son loves it too. He wanted a mini van and I wanted a car. This is somewhere inbetween.
Wow!
I love this ride! I love the memory seats with the controls on the door. It only takes the push of one button after my husband, who is a foot taller than me, has driven it. With my short legs the adjustable pedals put an end to my sitting on the steering wheel. The front, rear, side and roof air bags I hope I will never have to use but a great comfort to have, just in case. It's great at the drive in!
Great car for the money
We chose to add all the available features to upgrade our car to include all the features we always really wanted in a car- the leather seat pkg., dvd and entertainment up grade, sunrooof, nav. system, ect. and the price was still reasonable. Compared to a comp. equiped Cadillac, Lexus, or VW it was a deal. It might not have the status of the previously mentioned models but its comfort and appointments are just as nice. Weare very pleased. The only real drawback we have found is the lack of visibility when backing up. This could be solved by adding the rear sensor option from Mopar. Other than that we love our Pacifica!
great but can be better
A very good vehicle in need of a few improvements to make it a leader. Great room, fit & finish, all bells and buttons are great, good sound, auto adjust seats good, load level; tire pressure, push button rear hatch good.
Mixed emotions
I do love my Pacifica, it has everything I could possibly need in a car with 2 children and a husband. I love the DVD player and the navagation and heated leather seats and 6 disk cd changer. The all wheel drive makes it awsome in the snow. I love the trunk space, I can fit a double stroller and my second stroller and still have room for my groceries, or we can empty it and go out for ice cream and sit on the edge of the back. It is reliable even thought it is in dire need of repair, needed brakes/rotars for over 8 months and it still stops for me, I have had many noises coming from the front end and now my power stearing is going. I need battery. already replaced muffler/tires. 88,000
over all picture
This vehicle is the best thing chrysler has developed since th mini van. the ride is great, the handling is fantastic. i also noticed that this vehicle is much quieter than other chrysler products in the past.
Gute Auto
Very stylish, well engineered.
2004 Pacifica
Best new car we owned in last 40 years (currently have five vehicles). Believe that the low power rap is meaningless for our normal useage, its got enough power. Radio takes a bit of pratice to get used to controls.
Great Crossover Vehicle
I love the looks of this vehicle. It's fun to drive, very quiet and feels solid. Handles well in snow. The interior is elegant and so comfortable. The versatility sold me immediately. I got a great price deal (23400) and had to have it.
driving excitement
This vehicle is exciting to drive. The excitement lies in waiting to see what will go wrong next.
Happy Times
Had to work hard to get price down but worth it. Great and worth it!
be careful!!!!
I have had my Pacifica for 5 months now and it has been in the shop with 3 MAJOR problems. The first time an airbag sensor went out and the part was on back order for 6 weeks!!! That's right...no airbags for 6 weeks. Next an antilock brake sensor went bad...no anti lock brakes for over a week. And then a wheel hub assembly went bad..no wonder chrysler gives u a free loaner for this car!!!!!
Pacifica 2004
very slugish in pull off from stop terrible fuel consumption
AWESUM CAR!!!! i luv myn
It is a great car. It turns on a dime and is very nice on the interior. It is way before its time and is the perfect family car!!!!!!!
The Birdman Flies in his Pacifica
This sleek sedan/SUV is the way to go!!! It's unique style and reliable performance make it the envy on the street. Additionally, since the Pacifica is still a relatively new model, you will probably be the first in your community to own one. ENJOY the experience!!!
Wife's Selection
My Wife choose the Pacifica, a Great fit for her. Steering is very tight, with great response, seating is comfortable. The only negative is with 6 passengers, the luggage area in the back is very slim. GPS in dash is very easy to read and use.
This vehicle has set a new standard
Every where we go in southern California, we get more looks than when I am in my Porsche. My wife and I laugh at all the attention the Pacifica gets. The vehicle is the most impressive vehicle I have owned, ever! The ride is awesome and quiet, the amenities are great. We make excuses to go places just so we can drive in the car! Honestly, I believe the Pacifica has set a new standard for SUV's and Mini Vans in appearance and luxury.
I was hooked at the looks and performanc
I've only had this vehicle 4 days, and can say so far so good. Its build is like nothing else on the market. It drives like a cadillac, smooth and so fun to look at.
Why I Love my Pacifica
We have fully enjoyed our Pacifica. We used it for a vacation from So. Dakota to California. We had 3 adults and 1 child 5 yrs old. We met my daughter and a friend in Calif. so we ended up as 6 people in car. My grandaughter was a joy to take and I think the comfort of the vehicle helped alot. Also having the dvd player kept her occupied. The gas mileage was good, both on highway and around town. The GPS system helped alot when we were in the Los Angles area. We had plenty of storage space and lots of foot room in the 3 row seat. We alsolutely love this vehicle, it is the first SUV we have every bought and I will definately buy another one in the future
New Pacifica
I bought the first one sold in Baton Rouge, and absolutely love this vehicle. I just don't know what to call it--it's not an offroad SUV, nor a van, nor a station wagon. Chrysler wants us to say "sports tourer", but thats clumbsy and not really accurate. Tourer YES, but sporty-NOT REALLY. Two hundred and fifty HP is not enough to to make it sporty. But it handles the corners with surprising agility. The interior is very well appointed, and VERY wide. The exterior design is very appealing, as is the interior. It is a real head-turner.
