Love my LHS
I purchased an LHS after driving one as a rental on vacation and just loved it. Bought it with about 25K on it. Super comfortable seats, very roomy, my passengers are always very impressed with the comfort of the back seat. Huge trunk. Handles great on the road in wet weather--wide wheel base. Good gas mileage for its size-- I'm still getting 17 city and about 25 hwy. I did all of a sudden have problems with the paint, starting on the roof and it deteriorated fast. But, I still didn't want to part with itand the motor is still excellent, so I just had it painted last week. Now she looks showroom new. This is a great car for long road trips.
Bad Rap!
In my opinion this car has gotten a bad rap giving it a reputation it doesn't deserve. I've had mine for 3 years (bought with 27k miles)and have had little trouble of any kind-one recall item which took the dealer two times to fix: not the cars fault. I've added another 30k. It's a plush, cavernous, comortable, surprisingly powerful and economical sport sedan. If I was concerned about the depreciation I wouldn't buy this one or any American car new. But I'd buy another one used in a heart-beat. It's much more car than any (Buick/Olds/Pontiac) comparable GM models.
Nice Car
I bought my LHS 3 months ago and am very happy with it. The trunk could easily hold at least 4 bodies :) it's huge! The back seat has more than enough leg room for any size passenger. This auto looks classy from inside and out, you would never know it was 10 yrs old from the design. Rides great, and definitely comfort was in mind when they designed the interior. The only thing I am finding wrong with this auto is the gas mileage, I average about 13 in town and 21 on the highway. This must be just my auto though because the other posts here say they get around 20 in town? This is one great looking auto and the ride is smooth and soft.
OK car, unreliable for "premium"status.
$500 tranny overhaul and $300 rotors at 55,000 miles. HVAC control panel and front seat support brackets replaced under warranty. Front end clunking noise when backing up in cold weather. Too much wind noise at highway speeds. Find a good dealer for service work.
Great car for the money
Bought this car used ( 1 yr. old ) for $19,000 in 1998. It has been a great car. Lot's of room, plenty of pickup. The traction control and anti lock brakes are a plus. Only problem has been warped rotors which may have more to do with the wife's driving than the car. :) As long as you keep up the maintenance you should fare well with this car. Gas mileage is good for such a large car. If they still made this car I would consider buying one again.
