Luv my Subby
Our third Subby. Traded a '99 1500 LT for this new '04 also 1500 LT. A WORLD of difference. Rides much smoother and VERY MUCH quieter. This car gets up and GOES! Stops on a dime, too. No complaints about anything. 2nd Row buckets are great for the kids, keeps footprints off the seats and with three kids involved in all kinds of sports THAT is a good thing and well worth the money. And did I mention kids? They LOVE the DVD, even watch it for short rides.
First, But Not The Last...
This is our first Suburban, but I'm sure it will not be our last, I don't really see us driving anything else in the future, if we ever trade it in it will just be on a newer model...

Very Pleased
Very pleased with the performance so far. Seats are comfortable. This is our first SUV and we love it. Our experience in purchasing this vehicle was the best so far,the dealer knocked off $7500 off the MSRP and a $5000 rebate from GM sealed the deal.
My Suburban
I have to say that the Chevy Suburban is an all around good SUV. The Options package I have is the "Ducks Unlimited". Had a lot of small problems in the beginning like the locks kept popping out of place, and service engine soon light kept coming on. But overall, is a great SUV. Of course it's a gas hog. But.......
Best SUV
Great SUV, good styling, great comfort, tough truck chassis.
Not Bad but Not Good
All those people driving Suburbans, I thought there was something to them. Big, bulky, and horrible on Gas. One of the leather seats is cracking (not sure if they will replace), Stereo took 2 months to get fixed, make a lot of odd noises at odd time (clicking when A/C is on, Rubbing when using brakes) and paint job already showing problems.
my z
Great looking fun to drive lots of pep. It just needs some updates to the interior
Suburban 2003
Highly recommend to families. Provides ample leg room for everyone. Although truck is big in size, we have found it easy to manuever. The trunk storage is fantastic. Negatives...hard to step into. Gas mileage in city...not great.
LOVE MY SUBURBAN!
Even though I had a tough time adjusting to the higher gas bill, I LOVE my new suburban!!!!
GREAT CAR
this suv is awesome, we have a total of 8 members in the family, and we all sit COMFORTABLY... its just a beast, i love the cargo space and with the side steps it makes it ALOT easier to get into the car. i just wish they would use better stock tires cause the firestones used aren't good in the rain
Awsome Sport Ute
This is the best sport utility on the market. I have driven 8 different manufacturers (Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, ect) and this vehicle beats them hands down. The Chevrolet Tahoe was great but I opted for more room.
Not too much to worry about
My wife and I recently purchased a 2002 Suburban with 300 miles from a dealership. Excellent customer service and an all around great vehicle. If you can get over the 12 MPG factor you won't have to much to worry about with this vehicle.
Great SUV
Very roomy! Vehicle rides well and is great to have when you have children.
Z71 Sub is not a flub
Bought this in October of 2003 and as of August of 2004 had very good luck with this vehicle, it pulls trailers without any problem, goes down the road offering a great ride and has tons of storage with the back seat folded down. Engine has been noise free unlike the 2000 Silverado that I had previously with the 6 liter that sounded like it was going to fall apart every time I cold started it. All in all a great vehicle that I'm totally pleased with, could be better but then again what couldn't be?
ONE GREAT TRUCK
This is one beautiful truck. In fact It's my second Chevy Suburban in a row (the first in 2001). The combination of world class design, styling and build made my choice to go with another Suburban easy. Both vehicles were/are flawless. In my opinion It's the finest example of a SUV on the planet.
suburban rating
very happy with suburban as is.
My First SUV by Jorge Gonzalez
The most powerful vehicle I ever owned had a 118 horsepower engine. My Z71 has almost 300! It's beautiful and has a smooth ride. It gets lousy mileage but I only work 4 miles from work.
Suburban
Really not bad fuel mileage for a large 4WD Sport Utility (~18 MPG Highway)
It works for me!
This my third Suburban and will not be my last. We do a lot of traveling, and this is the ideal car for us. It is comfortable, safe, economical for it's size, and caries all the "junk" we want for our travels. I would and have recommended it to many people.
Chevy Subruban a Big Winner in our home.
This is our second suburban...first we've purchased "new." The internet manager at the dealer was great and we love the new 2004 suburban. We got the LT package with Onstar and XM radio. In addition, we added the DVD/sunroof package as well as the locking diff and skid plates. I got to drive the vehicle for about 300 miles from the dealership to our home both in traffic, 4 lane highway, and twisty-turny northern california mountain roads. it handles beautifully. This '04 drives much better than our '02. All the "gadget stuff" is awesome...but for over 40k one would expect it to be. Great ride, room for all our kids, pleanty of power, and all the gizmos that make driving fun!
Family Ride
We replaced a GM Family Minivan with Suburban. Comfort, room, performance and ride exceptional. Safety of Family offsets the decrease in Fuel Economy. Wife and Kids love it, Dad wishes he could drive it more.
Happy so far!
Purchased it two months ago. Great ride going from 1999 Dodge Durango and great handling. Loaded with features in comparison, but way more expensive. Wondered if wife who usually drove minivan would like it, but now she won't give it back. Kids love the ride and the back seat room. Tested Ford Explorer and Toyota Sequoia but found cargo space and price value better with Chevrolet.
Good Truck Minor Flaw(s)
Heated seat only warm in the middle not on outside near legs or upper back. Spare tire very difficult to access along with jack. Only 4 speakers. Plenty of power, room and ride great.
Love my Suburban
It holds my family and all the musical equipment very comfortably. With a double base and an electric guitar player, we need all the room we can get. I love driving the Suburban and parking has not been a problem in any way. The comfort and control I have with this vehicle is remarkable.
2004 Suburban
Great vehicle for the family. Great vehicle for family vacation. We drove 4000 miles this summer without a hitch.
Great truck
Owned minivans for 7 years prior to purchasing our first SUV. We needed something large enough for our 2 kids, dog and all our luggage. The Suburban was the logical choice. Plesantly surprised by the engine power and comfort. This truck can really get going when you punch the accelerator. Fuel economy is the only flaw, but you know that going in to the purchase. I think I will always have a Suburban. I wish my wife would let me get my own but we don't need two.
Driving Comfort
I bought this truck becuase I needed room and comfort while working across the U.S. I had owned several trucks and cars in the past few years for work, but I kept coming back to the ride and comfor of a Suburban. Once I got it, I will be hard pressed in the future to get rid of it. I intend to keep it until either it or I fall apart.
Mechanical Integrity /Reliability POOR
Now I know why GM is about to go bankrupt. This is the second Z71 Suburban that I have owned since 2002 and have had nothing but problems with both. This will be last one that I will buy.
love that Quadrasteer
I tow a 6000 lb Airstream and am very happy with the peformance. I have the 6.0 with a 3.73 rearend. I don't plan on getting a bigger trailer so I wanted to maximize mpg at the expense of a little more grunt. After almost three years and 25K miles I think I made the right choice. I get about the same as mileage towing (12 mpg)as I did pulling my 5000 lb Airstream with an Astro van but with much better stability, acceleration, and stopping power.
Buy American and buy the best!
So much room, power, capability, wrapped up in such a handsome design with rock solid reliability. That's the Suburban. There is nothing better. Filled with luggage to the ceiling, 4 adults, driving 80-85 mph going to Colorado for snow skiing last month. Averaged 17.9 mpg! 2 wheel drive and it handled the snow covered mountain passes and switchbacks with ease. Drives like a much smaller vehicle. You can keep the Toyotas and Hondas. Give me American ingenuity at it's best with the Suburban. The Suburban has been a hit for General Motors since 1935! It's only gotten better over the years and the '04 is one of the best. love it! Long live General Motors and Cheverolet!
More Power with a smoother ride
I recently purchased a 2004 Suburban to replace my 1999 Tahoe. I really liked my Tahoe however sometimes felt the transmission was lacking performance especially when towing a travel trailer. I expected a slight improvement in performance and comfort but was not prepared for the huge improvement that I felt. The Suburban handles almost as well as my '06 Lucerne around curves and I can really feel the extra kick in the engine and transmission whether I'm towing or not. I highly recommend a test drive If you like the late 90's and early 00's Chevy large SUV's you owe it to yourself to see the improvements. It really drives like a car
Want to buy another one.
This is the best vehicle I've ever owned. Buying it used saved a ton, which makes it that much better. I'm tempted to buy one for myself. Highly recommend it. Still my favorite vehicle on the road today.
Best Ride on the Road
My wife has an X5 and I have the Z71 Suburban. It drives so well I can not give it up. We have three kids and this vehicle is perfect for us. I have all the "bells and whistles" and it is perfect for road trips to the beach, etc. We have looked at all luxury SUV options. This is your best value. I recommend the Z71. We have the third row and bucket seats on the second row. If you get a bench seat on the second row it makes it very difficult to get the kids in and out.
Couldn't be happier
I've towed a loaded trailer from Dallas to Vegas and back, family trips, light offroading, carpool duty, and city commuting and my Suburban has handled it all with aplomb. I bought my truck because it could handle full 4x8 sheets with the seats folded and all the other things too and it's never failed me yet. It's like the Swiss Army knife of vehicles. It may not be the best at any single thing, but it can do a lot of stuff and do it very, very well. And without all the fumbling around that you get with one of those uber-everything chunky Swiss Army knives, either. It's a super-capable vehicle. I couldn't be happier with my choice to buy this truck.
1-Owner 130k Mile Review
This car has been in our family since we bought it in 2003. Extremely comfortable on short and long road trips (9+ hrs). Absolutely zero problems with it mechanically, save for a few wheel-bearing issues. The electrical gremlins typically get you with older GM models, but this is to be expected and is nothing major to worry about. Plan to drive it until it breaks.

Kid Hauling Machine
With 5 girls, this vehicle has everything we need. Room for them and all they things they insist on bringing on our many road trips. It has great power and handling no matter if you are doing 80 mph on the 4 lane or 60 mph down a back country road. The auto 4x4 and stabilitrak are great features for our snowy & icy ND winters. The only problems we have had is around 80,000 miles we had to replace the instrument cluster and some pressure sensor in the fuel tank. We had extended warranty. At 120,000 miles we believe our E85 sensor is out, but runs like new as long as we use regular gas.
absolute masterpiece from chevy
I LOVE this SUV cuz in my opinion its the best the engine power is awesome the traction is decent the air conditioning is weary cuz its old which makes it even better

not very gas efficient
although heavy in weight and size, the overall of this car is too expensive and not very gas efficient. the car is bulky, and it doesn't handle well either.
2004-mt. kisco
we have been chey people since 1955 and suburban family for over 20 yrs. we like the accomadation of the car,, size, handeling and all around work horse that Never Faile us...
best chevy so far
i have been a chevy person since i was a teen and i used to own a chevy s10 blazer. i loved the ride and when i went to the gm over drive event i test drove a suburban i feel in love i hate how these new suvs are light and don't have a the weight to make the ride nice and smooth and this does perfect. since my kids play soccer i travel alot and the dvd player is a god send and when i go to the shore i can really enjoy the xm radio and the kids can watch what they want.
Fred's Review
Great truck! It's the 2nd one we've bought in four years...still have the one we purchased in 2000! Love them both!
Suburban
Best in Class. This SUV does everyting I ask of it and more. If you're in the market for a full size SUV, this is the BIG DOG !!
Great family truck
I had looked at the Ford Expidition, as well as the Excursion. The ride and creature comforts on the GM won hands down. The Autoride rides like a Cadillac Limo, The DVD is great for the back seat crew, and the bose speakers w/xm is spectacular sounding. Onstar assures quick emergancy response where ever you are.
Love this ride.
Owned two Expeditions and a minivan before Suburban. Gets better gas than them, 21/16. Rides smoothly, tight turns, handles beautifully, has plenty of power, loaded w/bells and whistles my Expeditions never offered.
DON'T BUY ONE
I like the idea of being the biggest vehicle on the road. I definitely feel safe. I pull my horses and 6 kids and we can just about go anywhere.
