1.4 turbo LT auto sedan; a good buy, a few niggles
This review is for the 1.4 turbo LT sedan, which isn't offered as an option by Edmunds so I have flagged this in the title. Fun to drive; generally excellent design, one of the few really good touchscreen entertainment systems, excellent on safety, peppy if you get the turbo, a lot of space for the money, larger (but fortunately for parking no longer) than a standard subcompact and the sedan is actually well into the EPA compact category by volume, unusually quiet and smooth for the class. But a number of niggles; front seat comfort issues, awkward stock tuning of engine and transmission, unrefined rear suspension, and appalling stock tires except on the Dusk Edition.
Subpar.
The 2014 Chevy Sonic is a good car. It's good on gas, relatively stylish, very dependable. However, it lacks the over 'luster' of a sub-compact car. The transmission is a joke. I'm sure it is set up for economy, but come on Chevy; you can do better than that. The engine lacks power...majorly. The overall interior quality is poor. The seats are awkwardly placed and hard to adjust; especially if you've never been in the car. The interior is covered in flimsy plastic and hardly any soft touch material. But the worst thing about the entire car is how loud it is. Every bit of road and wind noise enters the cabin. Even on smooth pavement, you would think that you are driving on gravel. Update: 11/25/2017 I have since gotten rid of the car. 72,000 miles from December 2013 to June of 2017 and never left me stranded or threw a check engine light. The only fault is the USB Port failed around 65K miles and would no longer work.

Garbage
Just as soon as the 75b000mi warranty ran out is when the problems started. I'm at 110,000mi and I've practically had to rebuild the thing. Replace thermostat and repaired it twice more, replaced the alternator, replaced the radiator fan and motor, 2 valve covers, timing belt and pullies, water pump, mass airflow sensor, o2 sensor, purge valve and hose, throttle and hose, front sway bar kit, and the gearshift broke into pieces after jamming and couldn't take it out of gear or remove the keys. All these ammounted to about $3500 in work so far. All of these (minus the first valve cover) happened between 79,000-110,000mi. Been in the shop 7 times since december 2017. Things just keep breaking.

Small car with big interior
I'm 6'3", and the driver's seat has more headroom than some SUVs I've driven. The trunk is equally spacious, and I was able to move all of my things (except for furniture) no problem. I've primarily used it for longer (3-10 hours) road trips and short (<10 minutes) commutes.

The 2014 Chevy Sonic LT I used to own.
There are good and bad things about this car. One good thing about this car is that it's fuel efficient for all driving types. 30+mpg, and an option to add a bigger gas tank for this specific model vehicle. The one bad thing I've noticed when I bought the car is the fact that the dealership that sold me the car, sold me the car with only one key. The place was located in Freehold, NJ. The company was there roughly two years during and after I bought the car, and is now currently owned by another franchise. I was given a "what we owe" paper that tells me that everything that came with the car at the time of sale was in fact given to me, and if not, then the sale would be voided. I had a total loss claim and this was in fact, my first brand new car, and a year later it was stolen from date of purchase. I assumed that with the GAP coverage I had, I could get a vehicle through this new dealership, but they told me that they can't and don't handle the clients of the former dealership that used to own the rights to the cars they also sold. So I'm hunting for a similar model car, and even till this day, certain cars only come with one key. It's a bit suspicious to me because this is considered a feature of the cars and isn't listed as one to allow the consumer to see if the car does or not. This should be added to the Chevy lineup of cars since it's not there and would help to speed up a total loss claim involving thefts, so that there can be no mistakes as to how many keys come with the specific cars sold.
