To begin, I have always looked up to Chevy trucks and was so excited when the time came to buy my first brand new truck. Now, this was going to be the truck I planned to buy with all of the bells and whistles and drive it hopefully for as long as I could. That lasted about 3 months after I purchased the truck when I was driving off base and heard a random clicking noise, which got worse sounding and louder. I got home and immediately called the dealership I purchased the truck from, told them I had a brand new 2021 Silverado LT Trail Boss with the 6.2L engine and only 4K miles on it and it was making this specific noise. They told me they couldn’t get the truck in for 3 weeks, so I called the other local dealership and still, the same timeline. Thank god I had a school coming up which I needed to travel so I did not need to get a rental car for the time being. Once they diagnosed the issues it was a failed cam shaft and faulty lifters. They told me they would replace the entire engine. I advised them that there was also other issues I’ve noticed such as a creaking and popping noise from the steering column, driver side rear view mirror would shake and rattle at Highway speeds, sounds of an exhaust leak, and also a rattling noise from the exhaust during start up. They told me they would look into the issues and keep me updated on the process. Eventually they notified me that they would just replace the cam shaft and faulty lifter, and the other issues had been fixed. Once I got the truck back I realized the other issues had not been fixed so I rescheduled another appt, which led to the rear view mirror being fixed and they would order a part to fix the exhaust system. It has been 2 months since and the part still has not came in yet. Overall, I am highly upset with the performance of this truck. I had never had the truck off-road, I have fueled the engine with 93 rated gas as the manual called for when having a 6.2L engine, and took great care of the truck just for it to fail at 4K miles. Including all of the other subsequent issues as well. I have completely lost faith in the dependability of the truck and I am honestly just waiting for it to fail on me again. On the contrary, I still enjoy the appearance of the truck, and the features inside such as the upgraded speakers, and heated seats and such. Although I enjoy the cosmetics, I do not rely on the truck at all and considered looking into a new 2022 model Silverado in hopes that GM had fixed the kinks. All the reviews I can find on the 22 model are horrible and seem to all have the same mechanical issues. So I will be looking to buy another truck that is not Chevy. I have never written a review ever in my life and I am highly upset I had to write a negative review on a truck that I waited many years and worked very hard to purchase, but I feel the need to inform the public in hopes that potential buyers use caution if considering this truck.

Great truck with the upgraded engine 5.3L which turned out to be crap and leather bucket seats and advanced trailering . love the Bose system, would be better if GM would let dealers install navigation at their shops . Why did GM discontinue navigation system installs at dealers ? Follow up ; at approximately 6500 mile on the truck had major engine problems - bad lifter, bent push rod so now I have a new truck with a rebuilt motor .

We bought our 2021 truck in September 2020. On the first hot week in April 2021, the AC went out on the drivers side. The dealer replaced a sensor covered under warranty. June 21, the AC completely stopped working. I took the truck back to the dealer. Another truck came in with the same problem. After two weeks and flying a technician in to find out the problem. They are replacing the condenser and other things. They do not know if that will work. I will find out next week. I will update.

DO NOT BUY! Bought brand new Silverado RST 5.3, 8 speed in March 2021. November 7 and 10,136 miles later knocking ticking, rough idle. Diagnosed as lifter failure Bent push rods. Dealer Couldn’t give me a date to have it finished due to part shortage… not to mention 3 other silverados were there for the same reason. I need a truck so long story short they ended up buying my truck back from me and now I own A F150. Always was a GM guy, never again!
