My 5th Chevy truck

I have always driven a Chevy truck from a 1968 to a 2006. The power and performance of this truck is perfect. My friend has a pontoon boat that looks big as a house. No problem, hook it up and we're gone. And a very comfortable ride also. Long or short drive no problem. My next truck will be a Chevy truck. The best truck there is.

I bought a the 4wd work truck with the upgraded chrome package and seats. It also had the chrome 20 inch Chevy bowtie rims. Absolutely beautiful truck. This is when they came out with the split grille that is much better looking than the 2003-2005 models. Very pleased with this truck. The only reason I got rid of it was because of a round trip commute to work of 60 miles. Gas was going up and I had to do something. I really regret getting rid of it.

This was my second Chevy pickup, my first being a '57 stepside. Since that old Chevy, I had evidently been spoiled by a few Fords, two Nissans and a Dodge. No complaints on any of those other pickups, but this Chevy must've been a lemon. Everything from the battery to the temperature control to the transmission gave me trouble in the 9 months that I've had it.

We bought this LT3... we did spray the bedliner. This has been as great truck. I have never had any trouble.. put it in 4x4 and it trucks right out of our 1/2 mile drive up hill... Leather still looks new 3 years later. carpet is good and held up well. my husband is really tall.. and I am short.. the drive 1 and 2 has been wonderful. Looking forward to moving up to the 2500

This is a great truck. I use it as my daily driver and on the weekends it doubles into my harley hauler/drive to the woods to cut firewood truck. It is much better built than is the Ford or Dodge of this year.

I spent 9 months deciding on the right truck. I needed crew cab,4WD,Leather/ power everything, comfortable yet lots of performance. Had it down to Tundra and the Titan. This beats them both. Tundra was like a camry inside and fell way short on the accessories and the titan was just not comfortable to drive. Silverados comfort is phenominal, looks great, tons of storage, get 15-18mpg, handles like a car, can tow massive loads, 4 wheel in the snow in Idaho mountains is incredible, and it has more features than either the Titan or the Tundra. Plus, $7000 cheaper than both models. From driving to work to beating around the back country, this truck is #1!!

This is a real truck. My buddies with Fords agree. Have taken her off-road several times. No problem getting around or pulling buddies out of the mud. Anybody looking for the best truck needs to look and compare this truck to any thing on the market. Hands down I am now a Chevy driver for life.

Truck runs and looks great! I chose this one over the crew cab due to increased ride height. The ride height on mine compares evenly with a Z71. Nice, supple ride and handling, even with the stock 17" Generals on standard chrome rims. Getting great gas mileage (17MPG in mixed driving), even with the 3.73 rear end. That's a 25-30% increase over my stolen Hemi Ram!

I'm not a fan of GM's much maligned interior but the LT3 makes it as nice as possible. The 10-way power leather seats are great. There is ample room in the back seat even behind me when I'm driving, I'm 6'4". The 5.3 V8 w/ the 3.42 rear end cruies the interstate effortlessly (75 mph/2000 rpm). The Bose audio system is awesome! It sounds better than the system in my father-in-law's BMW 645i that cost $90K. I like the updated grill and hood of the 2006. GM should make larger rims affordable. The factory 17's are okay but some nice brushed aluminum 20's, not optional polished chrome $2000 20's!! Also considered the Toyota (too car-like and flimsy) and Ford (worse MPG).

I owned an F150 prior to buying a 1500 Silverado. The ride of the F150 does not even come close to the ride of the Silverado, the 1500 is much smoother, quieter, and generally a more comfortable ride. I am extremely happy with the Silverado 1500.

I have had the truck for about 1 week. Has the 5300 310 HP motor, Z71, trailer towing, LT1 amenities. Has plenty of power.40/20/40 bench seat is very comfortable on my lower back. Rides pretty good for a 4X4. One important thing for me was when you pop the hood nearly all of the engine components are accessible. With the electric cooling fans it opens up the engine compartment tremendously. If you had to perform any repairs yourself in the future, at least you can get to most of the components.Keeps the frustration level down. I do have a problem with the fit of the doors. The passenger door does not shut tight to the seal on the rear door.Alignment on driver's door is poor also.

I decided on this truck on price. I have not driven any of the other brands. But where else can you get a crew cab with pwr windows and locks for $19200 after taxes. So far the only thing I would change is the wheels which I intend to and the fact that they give you heated mirrors instead of power driver seat. The truck has a smooth ride. It can become bumpy at times. The v8 provides more than enough power for normal driving. The fuel ecomomy is class leading. Real world 19.9 mpg city/hwy

Upgraded to 4.8 V8, CD player, cloth seats. Fun to drive, but torque leaves something to be desired. Roomy extended cab in front and back. Engine components easily accessible for self- maintenance. 6.5 foot bed provides plenty of space. Smooth riding on the highway, especially with weight in the bed. Seats are comfortable. Decent gas mileage for a V8. ABS system has been refined over the past few years and seems to be more responsive.

This is an awesome truck. They added just the right balance of features. Everything that I wanted and almost nothing that I would not use. The suspension is a little soft in the twisty's, but perfect everywhere else. The only thing that bugs me a little is a blank area on the dash. It is saved for the transmission temp on the HD model.

I have 5,100 miles on my Victory RED '06 now and not excited or disappointed. This is a nice average American truck that has had 7 or 8 years to work out the proplems since it's introduction in Fall of 1998. This truck still does not compete with the likes of the Nissan Titan, as of yet....I hope the 2007 Silverado redo will put the Silverado back on the top. I don't tow anything and choose the low gears (3.42) for fuel economy, and quite surprised with 17.1 average with 15 city/19 highway, just as the window sticker indicated. Plenty of power, but not as much as the Nissan Titan which in turn gives 14 mpg average. Brakes work great since GM dropped rear discs for old-school drums in 06

I purchased an extended cab 1500 with the "Limited Edition" package that isn't advertised much. It came with chrome 20's, special suspension, 3.73 tranny and the 5.3 V8. XM satellite radio is free for 3 months. What sold me was the 0% financing for 72 months during the July 4th weekend. Biggest complaint is the turning radius. Seems too small for a long vehicle. Excellent power. I'm chirping tires during rolling acceleration. Stiff suspension bounces you around when bed is empty. Seating for 6 is huge! I can stuff 6 adults comfortably and can still feel the power during acceleration. The overall look is mean yet distinguished. I've had many Chevy owners asking me if this is the new model.

Tried the Ford crewcab 4 wheeldrive and the Tundra doublecab 4 wheeldrive the ride, and cost made Chevy the best bang for the buck. LT3 package and Z71 is great. I had one problem. This truck rides so darn smooth, and has power. I am unhappy with the gas mileage, craftmanship, and engineering. However I do understand w/ the 5.3 it will consume more fuel, but at 13.8 mpg I am forced to buy aftermarket products for the truck. Not everyone can keep a tonneu cover on constantly. The tailights got broken when pulling out plywood, the carpet was not tucked in around the doors, the seatbelt cover was not screwed down, and biggest one of all is The box was very off centered. Had to take back to dealer and get a loner for 2 days. No handle for passengers to hold on to, only the bar for the front passenger.

Have a 2006 1500 Work Truck. The transmission went out at 7,000 miles. The heater blower wiring burned up at 8000 miles and again at 22,000. The exhaust has a vibration at 40 to 45 mph and the dealer said live with it. Another dealer repaired the wiring correctly and is sure he can fix the vibration. This is a 4.3 V-6 and I would say there is a major difference between service departments in Austin Texas.

This is my first truck. As a hunter, homeowner, and a father, I needed 4wd, a truck bed, and 4 full doors for my family. This is the perfect family vehicle. No mini-van for me. I've put 11,000 miles on it and it's still riding smooth as day 1. I bought it 4 months old with 6,000 miles on it. I've hauled 1,250lbs of brick and dirt and tow my 2,200lbs boat in hot South Carolina summers with A/C cranked, without issue. I only wish I would've waited 3 more months for the standard 100,000 mile warranty. I'll just put my trust in Chevy to make a truck that will make it to 100,000 miles without major repair. Great truck!

Great truck, have the 4.8 V-8, well equiped w/ trailer pkg. Very good power, handles well, good gas mileage. Not as fun as my Dodge Dakota SLT, but close and 40% better mileage. It is our trip vehicle, pulls our two jets ski's, all our gear and the three of us with no problem. At 25,000 miles nothing other than normal maintenance. Well laid out interior and both front and back seat are comfortable. Will buy another is 4 or 5 years.

I bought this 2006 Silverado and drive it off of the Lot and the next day it was back at the dealer for a repair of the alternator. Then at 9000 miles in for a tranny seal. Then at 17000 miles for the OnStar antenna falling off and the visor falling off and hitting my wife in the head. The truck has been good on gas avg of 20 Hwy 16 city. Not too bad. But as many times as it has been to the dealer for things breaking that should never break. I just bought a 2008 Ford Fusion for work and will be solidly in the Ford camp now.

Zero Problems from mile 11 to mile 198,000

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT2 4dr Extended Cab 6.5 ft. SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

I purchased my 1500 2WD 5.3 extended cab pickup during Dec ‘05. It needed two minor cosmetic issues fixed, which Chevrolet did well and fast. Since then it’s been routine maintenance with zero problems of any kind. I’ve used it within its design limits, hauling many tons of a wide array of stuff. At 198,xxx it appears to need either a head gasket or new head(s). I have no doubt that after this relatively minor issue is behind me this truck will give me many more miles and years. I would purchase another just like it if Chevy offered it!

I purchased this truck to replace my 37 year old GMC which I bought new in 1969. This is the perfect replacement. Its fun to drive ,very good manufacturing quality. I average 20 mpg on highway & 17 in town.I did a lot of research and am very satisfied with my choice.I average about 5000 miles a year on my truck. It is used mostly for pleasure, hunting, fishing etc.

Pros: 17 inch wheels, Smooth Auto transmission, Standard Tow Hooks, Price. Cons: Exhaust vibration, sounds like the truck is straining. Weak V6 engine. Fuel enconomy not worth the engine downgrade. No keyhole on passenger door. Work Truck series does not come standard with keyless entry. No arm rest on Work Truck series.

Love this truck, put a 3” lift cat back dual exhaust and 33” BFG’s. it’s my 2nd truck like this. Easily getting 300,000 + Kms out of each one.
