Really could do better.
We bought the truck brand new in 2001. I’m not sure exactly how many miles it has on it, but I would guess around 200k to 250k miles. It has held up ok the speedometer, fuel gage, tailgate handle, and the driver door handle have broken, but we still have it. We’ve gone a lot of places we thought it could never handle. The interior of the truck is really bad, you can see every single stain, the rear seats are pretty much useless, and the seats are really uncomfortable and hot.

great
bought this truck off ebay 6/03 for $9,750 with only 10,500 (16,000 today 1/25/04) miles on it. a/c switch and anti-freeze switch went out but was replaced under warranty. go with light color that doesn't show scratches. use the wal mart rubber mat in the back for flexibility and if you get in an accident the rhino lining spray on bed liners ruin the bed. paid $3000 down and $206 a month for 3 years. can't beat this deal!!!

GREAT TRUCK! 2001 Z71 327 (5.3)
I bought this truck new. It has been a wonderful truck with great performance! I tested Dodge and Ford but the Chevy handled better and had more power. I get 16 miles to the gallon with 285 HP. This truck will get up and move. I owned a 2000 Z71 3 door with the same engine and since it did not have the limited slip rear axel it spun in the rain badly without 4x4 selected. My 2001 now has the limited slip. Get a Pewter colored truck. It never looks dirty until deer season!
Good old truck.
This truck was good for my husband. But it is too big for me. I feel like a little kid, behind the wheel.

So Far So Good
I have'nt had any problems yet knock on wood. I had to replace all 4 brake rotors and pads is all. Good luck to the rest of you.
I Love My Chevy Truck
I love my Chevy truck. It is so comfortable for long trips & it gets fantastic gas mileage for a V8. It has lots of leg room & the seats are so plush & comfy. There is plenty of leg room in the back seat too. It is built very well. I have not had any problems with it at all. Good job GM.
# 1 In My Book
I bought my 2000 silveraldo extended cab sportside new. I have had no problems out of it. I think it is wonderful. I can not go anywhere, without someone telling me how nice it is, plus so many have offered to buy it from me. It is not for sale...lol I have the 4.8 engine, and it truely has the power. The cab room is amazing, and I love the 4 doors. I have pictures of my 2wd in snow up to the top of the wheel whales, yet I have never had it stuck. I have been able tp go, when I seen others stuck. That makes it the right truck for me. It is dependable, yet it is sleek in design, and is very durable.
BEST AMERICAN PICK UP
Ive had the truck for several years. Ive grown up in a family that has chev Ford and Dodge. By far the chev has the most power, comfort, and reliability ive ever seen. Very smooth running truck, lots of power for the 5.3. No complaints on fuel economy, its a v8 with more hp than competitors that still manages to get better gas mileage. Chevy for life.
Work, Haul, Hunt, Camp, Play!
I drive 30 miles in hilly country to work, then haul dirt, rock, firewood or ATV on the weekends and this truck is always ready to go. I've hauled 2,000 lbs. of topsoil, well-beyond the truck's capacity, up the mountains to home and the engine hardly worked. I just clocked 30k miles and there's no rattles, no squeaks. My mom-in-law was very surprised at the ride quality both on road on on our mile of dirt road to our house when she was visiting. This truck has done it all for me and it's only asked for good, regular oil changes and it's always gotten 17.5 mpg no matter what I do. I'm very very happy with this truck.
like a rock
After owning it for 8 yrs and 172000 miles who can argue its reliability. It still gets 18mpg with 4.8 v8. Have not done front brakes but did do back. 4 years ago flipped it at 65mph with family in it, no one even got a scratch. Glad ins decided to fix it. All I do is put gas in it and change the oil. Got 75000 miles out of original tires. Only on 3rd set of tires only been aligned 2 times.
Great truck
Purchased this plain jane w/t truck in 2006 with over 100,000 now have 185,000 and still runs strong. only minor issues V6 is underpowered at times but gets the job done if you do light to none hauling and towing. overall pretty good truck.
Great Truck
I bought this truck in 2006 with 59,000 miles on it and now it has 108,000 and it runs like it did when I bought it. I now have flowmaster exhaust on it and that gave me noticeably better gas mileage. The best mileage I have gotten is 22 doing 70. I get about 13 to 15 in town. Does great on the highway and handles like car. It has plenty of power! It has always started in the cold, even 20 below zero in Montana where I live. Does well in every road condition you drive on. Very smooth suspension as well.
Great Truck
This truck is great it is dependable, fun to drive and very roomy. I would recomend it to anyone!
A great ride
I've had the 1500 LT for over a year now and have 47,000 miles on it. I don't just let it sit around. The ride comfort is unbelievable! The seat can be adjusted to fit my 6'1" frame like a glove and my 5'2" mother in law doesn't want to give it back when she borrows it! I've hauled loads of gravel, pulled shrubs out with a chain and put my three kids (with one car seat)in the back to go to church. A terrific all around vehicle that does what a truck should do but rides like luxury sedan. No problems at all in the last 14 months.
GREAT TRUCK
THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST COMFORTABLE TRUCK I HAVE EVER HAD....AND I HAVE HAD MANY......USED TO BE A FORD MAN....MAYBE I WAS MISSING SOMETHING ALL THESE YEARS.....I WILL DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF OF THIS ONE!!
Comfortable Ride
I have a Z-71 ext cab LT, and I have enjoyed everything about the truck. The ride is superb compared to Ford or Dodge. Gas mileage could be improved. (Interstate only 16mpg)
Great truck
I love this truck. Great power!!!
2001 Silverado Z-71 Ext Cab.
Outstanding truck from the minute I purchased it. 5.3L v8 has tons of power and great fuel economy (15 around town and over 18 on highway). Interior is well designed with clear, easy to read guages. Mechanical and exterior has held up well. No trips to the service department yet.
Great truck
My truck has been very reliable. 5.3 sounds great with dual exhaust. sunset metallic orange is a great color. dodge's and ford's orange looks like crap. the auto trac kicks butt. you won't find a more controlled ride in the snow and ice
Like a Rock
Great get up N go. 4:10's plus the 5.3=awesome power!
Great Truck
This is my first pickup and it is more comfortable to drive than many cars that I've owned. I have the 1500 LS with the 5.3L V8 and its performance, reliability and gas mileage for a vehicle this size is outstanding. I now have over 105,000 miles and haven't done much more than change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles! I do a lot of hunting and it has never let me down in out-of-the-way places. A great vehicle.
Z-71 best truck to buy
My 2001 Chevrolet truck has been the best truck I have ever owned. I live in Kentucky and use my truck on and around my land, it goes great through mud and snow and has yet to fail me. In my opinion the Z-71 package is the best deal.
Tracys Truck
It's an awesome truck. Smooth ride, great power, great looking. Complaints for chevy clearance are numerous but I haven't experienced it yet. The only thing I don't like is the anti-lock breaks. But that goes for any car I've driven that has them. I pull a 5000# boat without problems.
Great Truck
I am very happy with the truck. Never a single problem yet. My regret is not getting enough use of it due to job change that added 80 miles a day to my commute, after owning truck 3 years. Got 18 mpg on trip to FL in summer, fully loaded. Gets 17 mpg if take on 95 mile round trip to work. These are great numbers for ext cab 4wd with 270 HP V8. Rides as smooth and quiet as a luxury car.
02'-Z71
I was a Ford driver past 9yrs, 1st Chevy truck. Kicking myself for not switching sooner, great ride-strong performance.
Silverado
Love this truck. Have never had any problems. Rides great and has plenty of power.
I Love Mine!
This is one of the best trucks I have ever owned. My wife and I also own a Toyota Tacoma Pre-runner that wears me out on long trips. My Z71 Silverado is so comfortable, I believe that I could drive it across the country and not even be sore at the end of the trip. The power and the 4WD has never let me down when called upon.
Awesome Ride
The 2WD Silverado is a great choice for someone who needs a truck, but also does not want the gas mileage of a 4WD truck. I opted for the locking differential. With a little weight in the bed at winter time, my truck has yet to get stuck. I love the comfortable and smooth ride and the power from the 5.3 liter engine. I have been able to achieve just over 20 MPG on long distance trips which I feel is outstanding for a truck of this size. Go buy one - you won't regret it.
Best Truck i've ever owned!
Excellent power and great gas mileage!!! Rides like a car but i'm yet to find any load it can't handle!
100K No Problem
I've been extremely pleased with the performance of the vehicle, I chose the 5.3 Vortec to handle the 4WD and tow/haul demands. Most of the mileage is due to a 32 mile one way commute. It has seen its share of mountain logging roads, mud bogs, and desert sands. The transfer into 4WD Low is rough, even in the best of circumstance. (Rolling under 5 mph.) Better get into it before you need it. Gas mileage is still at 18~19 MPG, pulled the plugs at 65K, flushed all drivetrain at 95K, and the coolant is next on the list. The velour interior is showing wear and fading-New Mexico sun and heat will eat fabric. The plastics are holding up well, wish the speakers weren't crackling. Heart Beat USA!
Still a Champ
I bought this truck from a family member. It was better than new then, and is pretty close now. I'm amazed at the power and handling that this truck has when compared to its size. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good used truck.
Best Vehicle I've ever owned
This truck has been perfect in every way. Unfortunately my commute suddenly got 34 miles longer each way 3 years after getting it. I haven't yet used it enough to have my first problem. I think I have only waxed it once. I expect it to last me 15 more years or 200k miles. I like the new ones styling better but they are always cutting corners as I noticed the chrome is reduced on the front bumpers and the mirrors.
Good experience
Very good vehicle. Seems very solid and well built. No problems or warranty work required through 20 months of ownership.
4 wd noise
With all the snow this winter I had the chance to really use the 4 wd but there is a noise when it is engaged, had it into the dealer today, they say that this is NORMAL noise because od the autotrac system.
Rolling Thunder
I have had this truck for about 5 months and I have never had a problem with it. Treat it well and it will serve you well.
