Love my truck
This 7 year old truck has electrical problems in dash. Unable to view gear shifter, odometer, already replaced once. Also, gas guage went belly up at 6 years. Still love the truck. Good ride, good mileage, good towing, never broke down, good looking. Light in the backend, have to use sandbags.
beware of brakes
Within a 1 month time span and with less than 1000 miles left on the warranty, brake problems started to happen. First, the abs would kick in when pulling into a parking spot at 5 mph. After taking it to the dealer to have this adjusted (and to have the clunking slip yoke replaced), the next day the front passenger side brake hose blew. 1 week after this was replaced, the abs module went. Luckily, it was under warranty since the dealer quoted me $1200 for a new one.

So far, well, pretty good
I have a 1999 1500 LS with auto trans., 4.8 L, 2WD Xcab with 47000 miles on it now. I don't have any major complaints, however, I have recently had to replace the rear brake rotors and pads, the front brakes look OK. Four minor recalls for brake lines, seat belts and a sticking gas pedal, but this is the first year for the new model. I haul firewood and pull a bass boat ~30x/year and the truck handles it well. Gas mileage on the highway is ~20.5 miles/gallon (without a load), not bad for a V8.
THE OLD STUD WITH A CROOKED STRIPE
I give it 5 stars. I love my silverado LT. 4x4. Had it since 2001 had 32000 miles on it. He's been good n reliable. Weather doesn't bother him either. Since 2001 the list has been long on repairs, has 210000 on it now. Nothing really major except I replaced the engine in 2015, tranny is still good. Besides that, just regular stuff, brakes exhaust, 02 sensors. The worst thing is rockers n cab corners. Repaired n painted in 2010. Body n frames in good shape. I will continue to repair n keep on the road. Love the new ones too. Love my CHEVY TRUCK!!!

Great Reliable Truck
A 1999 Chevy Silverado was my first vehicle i bought one with 220000 on it and the truck looked like crap, rust, mis match doors etc.. but regardless of the miles and complete lack of care it received from previous owners this truck has not needed a thing & runs like a dream even now at 320,000 with the original motor and transmission. Love this truck and it will love you back
