Great car - except for a few things

Have had a 2015 Malibu LS for about a month. Great gas mileage, decent power (but it is no dragster), reasonable handling but lacks road feel. Cons: poor rear visibility, no spare tire, a bunch of electronics piled on top of the battery making it difficult to check water level (something you do in a very hot climate like mine) and lots of road noise. Transmission seems to occasionally hunt gears at mid throttle going about 40-50 mph. I hated auto stop on my 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid and dislike it on this car - maybe I'm just 'old school'. I personally prefer my older 2009 Malibu with 90K miles on it. I would characterize this car as a typical American 5 passenger car from which they have engineered out every possible cost and I am only marginally satisfied with this car.

Solid traveler but lacking acceleration oomph!

Recently had to have a rental while my 07 Camry V6 XLE was in for collision repairs. Let me say right away I never was fully satisfied with my Camry's ride. It's far too taught and the ride reminded me of a go-kart. The Camry is fast and nimble, but hard to endure on long road trips. As soon as I sat into the Malibu's driver seat, I was instantly comfortable. Of course, it's a 2015 and its not a sport edition, so it may be disingenuous to compare the ride comfort of the Camry vs the Malibu, but even the later 90's Camry had a better ride than the 2007 Camry. One thing my V6 Camry is good at however is acceleration. It's a loud V6 at idle, but it moves swiftly. The base engine Malibu on the other hand is too slow on acceleration, and when it does respond, it is anemic and I almost feel like I may be injuring the thing when I step on the gas. But the ride is awesome. Comfortable without feeling too plush, and not claustrophobic like some other newer model cars. Visibility is not great, but no worse than the Camry's. What ever happened to large side and rear mirrors of yesteryear? The materials are much better than my Camry or any Chevy I had been in recently. Overall, if it holds reliable, this would be a solid choice if the base engine was quicker. If you can afford a step-up in engine level (turbo or a v6), it may just be perfect.

We live in Clearlake, Ca where if you need to go to Doctors out of the area you have to drive curvy and crocked roads. Whether it is in Santa Rosa or Yuba City, Ca.. We bought the Chevy Malibu LS ECO 2015 from Thurston Auto in Ukiah, Ca NEW and on our way home in the mountains we go 38+ mpg. and in town we get about 25mpg my Chevy Tahoe only got 12mpg in town and around 17=+ on the open road. The Chevy Malibu has lots of power going up and down the mountains. I love my New car.

2015 Malibu, "How to Disable The auto start stop"

Well I purchased my 2015 Chevy Malibu Ls Jan' 2015 the first time I test drove the the car I liked it a lot except for that annoying auto start stop feature for me and for a lot of other people judging by the reviews it was a deal breaker and I walked away from it, but then I started thinking and I came up with a way to disable it, and I purchased the car and disabled that annoying feature so here it is this is how it's done. Purchase a new hood latch with sensor/switch, carefully remove the switch sensor from it its held in place with a rivet, just drill the tipi top of the rivet and it will come right off, tape the switch sensor closed with electrical tape and put a small zip tie around it, open the hood, right next to the hood latch you will see where it plugs in, unplug the original and plug in this new taped closed switch, use a couple of zip ties to hold it in place and that is it. Leave the original hood latch and switch in place. if you change your mind just plug the original switch back in. Now when you start the car you will get the "HOOD OPEN" light on your dash, just press "MENU" on the turn signal lever and it goes away you can now drive your car and it will not shut off unless you turn the ignition key off, just as it should be. You will do this every time you restart the car. Well that is it the new hood latch is about $40.00. I did this a year ago and it works for me. this should also work on 2014,15,16,17 Malibu and Cruze. good luck
