Used 2006 Chevrolet Impala Consumer Reviews
Best buy for the money
This car drives like a luxury automobile for less than half the price. The standard features of the LTZ model (e.g. side air bags, plush leather seating, premium stereo system, etc.)make this car a real bargain. These features were all optional and expensive on all the foriegn cars that I looked at. The ride and mileage were extra bonuses. I receive 26.5 mpg at an average speed of less than 38 mph. I would encourage everyone looking for a new car to take the time and compare the price and ride with any other model in its class. The controls are very easy to use and program.
Disappointed
My Wife and I were first very excited to get a newer Impala ours is an 06, the fact that I was not given the vehicle history up front should have warned me off. our first problem was the trans. we lost 2nd gear, then the rotors warped at 39000 miles, then the truck started rusting out and also the passenger side front door panel started to rust. After I finally received a copy of the cars history before I bought it I was shocked there were 3 pages of repairs on the car. I am still having trouble with 1st gear shifting hard and sometimes being sluggish to shift at all, and as far as gas mileage this car has never done better than 17 mpg period.
Gas mileage not as advertised
I have enjoyed my new SS since purchasing it in mid November '05. Pretty much as advertised with only one exception. My only issues is the gas mileage. When buying a V8 one should expect that gas mileage will be less than a 6 cyl auto, but when the manufacturer states 18-28 MPG, you would expect to average inside that range. To date I'm averaging about 17.5 per tank in town and 21 or so highway. This represents mileage without A/C or a lead foot at this time. GM would be wise to revise their advertising as I suspect this car will be more in the 16-20 MPG range once I quit babying it.
My new Chevy
I love all the buttons that you use now that I learned them all. The information you can get is very thorough and tells you all you need to know. The handling of the car is excellent. My favorites are turning on the engine before you get in. This way you can have it at the climate you want when you enter your car. I also like the alarm system where you can turn it on if you notice someone around your car that may look suspicious. The OnStar system was standard and it is great. Also the XM satellite radio is quite pleasurable. All in all it satisfies my needs immensely.
Keep up the good work GM
I recently bought a 3LT Impala and am already convinced it is the best vehicle I've ever owned. GM put a lot of time and effort into refining the exterior and interior with over 1,000 new parts compared to the previous generation. The 3.9 engine has lots of power, makes good mileage, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The car has an air of luxury about it, but without the price.
