Used 2006 Chevrolet Impala Consumer Reviews
Don't Drive It Unless You Want To Buy It
This car is pretty much the whole package. It has power, looks, sophistication, and a good list of features. Gas mileage is not exactly close to what the sticker says but I am hoping that buyers would anticipate that since the gas pedal is so enticing. I strongly suggest the SS to anyone who has the need for a large car but still wants to DRIVE! I can pretty much guarantee that the power and the thrill will make up for the lack of options. Some features that aren't mentioned... When you tap the blinker, it lights three times for a lane change and also, the OnStar phone voice recognition is immensely better. Depending on what you are driving now, the seats may seem flat and unsupportive.
Nice Job Chevrolet
We picked up our Black SS this last week. We're impressed with the car, very quiet, very powerful, and the interior and exterior fit and finish is a huge step up for GM. Love the power and handling. Lots of features for the money such as OnStar, heated seats, Bose sound system, XM radio, leather and power sunroof. Would like rear view mirrors to be larger and Chevrolet to offer a navigation and DVD player as well as auto climate control, but quite nice as is. We like our SS. Compared to Dodge Charger and Ford 500, Ford is underpowered and Dodge, while great HEMI power, lacks fit and finish and refinement of SS. Would like Chevrolet to implement rear drive for next Impala
Very dependable car
Only one small problem in 2 1/2 years of ownership, one tire switch monitor keeps on going out but zero other problems after 41000 miles. As a frequent car changer every year or two but I foresee keeping this car for at least 2-5 more years.
No more Chevy for me
I own a 2006 Chevrolet Impala lS, and I hate that car. I bought it with 46,234 miles on it, at 50,000 miles the water pump started to leak, so I had to replace it. The gas mileage is poor, the inside armrest is already broken, I had to replace a speaker that stopped working or worked when it wanted too, the automatic trunk relaese button works when it wants too, the power door lock switch on driver side door only lets you lock the doors not open them. The transmission shifts how it wants too, sometimes smooth sometimes kicks in the gears harsh shifting, and then this past Friday something happened with the power steering, all the fluid leaks out. I am not happy at all with this Impala. No more Chevy of any kind for me.
Problems, Problems, Problems
I have loved everything about this car up until about a year after I bought it, Within the last four months I have had my tire sensors replaced numerous times. I have had my tires replace at no charge through the dealer, the steering shaft was replaced a month ago and today I had both front tie rods replaced! Something not of the norm at 24,000 miles. Poor, poor gas mileage! I was originally looking for an Acura, but wanted to stay American. Guess I made a wrong decision.
