Great Car - everything I need
The 2004 Impala is a great overall ackage. It truly has everything I need. It is very roomy, comfortable and handles well. Its engine has a good combination of enough power and decent fuel economy. It has the utility of a 4-door, which allows me to do everything I need with it, but it also has a sporty and fun feel. I love it! I have not had a single problem with it, and really can't think of a single thing to complain about. It is much better looking, more fun to drive, and a better total package than the Camry, Accord, or any other mid-size and at a much better value!
Chevrolet Impala LS 8900 V6
This car handles with ease. Nice smooth ride. We compared it with the Honda Accord EX-V6. They are almost identical cars, but we saved a lot of money. The Chevy has a longer wheel base for a smoother ride. Love the light beige color interior. We were very surprized at how the domestic cars have improved and with the extended warranty coverage, how can you lose! We were sold on the car after test driving it and comparing it to the Honda Accord. I can see savings in the bank. I like cars that are a little more streamline, therefore Impala LS beat out the rounded, chunky Honda. We have been brainwashed for foreign autos, keeps jobs here in America.

I like this car
Over all I like this car. I think the outside trim along the doors should be the basic black instead of the same color of the car. When someone hits your door with their door, your paint chips on the trim. Who wants a brand new car with a chip in the door? It made me SICK. MPG was big thing for me, and it does do pretty good. I'm a little disappointed the car doesn't hold it's value. You buy it for 26K and in a year they are selling them for 17K. That alone is enough to make me wish I had bought European. Aside from repair costs I guess.
04 LS Impala
Just bought one and loving it so far. Fast, smooth acceleration, great handling, luxury ride. Interior huge compared to my old Camry and our other car, a Maxima. Kids are in heaven. Trunk Tony Soprano would love. What other car can comfortably seat 6 adults AND all their stuff and get 32 MPG on the highway. This car is the value proposition.
Wooooooooohooooooooo!!!!!!
When I spotted my new automobile, I fell in love with it. I love the Silver color, the body style and the interior.I cant believe the sitting space, very nice, lots of room. And the big trunk...wow. I really like the why it handles on the highway too. From a Malibu to a Impala......wow what a big difference When i left the dealership I told them that I was in 7 heaven and woooooooohooooooooo!! Second Impala
We bought this 2004 because of the performance of our 2002 Impala, which we intend to keep for many more years! We drive between Arizona and Ohio several times per year. We could not be happier with the comfort, drive, and performance of both the 2002 and the 2004. The gas mileage is far above the listed expectations. Driving 2200 miles each way numerous times has afforded us the opportunity to determine the comfortability of the Impala. The fold down style of the rear seats allows us to haul whatever we need to transport. We have the versatility of a truck with the comfort of a beautiful, well-built automobile.
nice car bad brakes replaced
great gas milage fun to drive and a pleasure to own.
2004 Impala
Thsi is a great car,has all the comfort and nice ride. Good performance from a standard 3.4L engine and provides good fuel economy. Good value for the money spent
Good deal if you don't pay sticker price
We just purchased a new 2004 Chevy Impala base model. We were orginally going to buy a new Honda Accord, however we couldn't pass up the good bargain we got on the Impala. Its sticker price was 21000 dollars, however GM took 3500 dollars off and also we received another discount of 2250 dollars off the 3500. So it ended up that we only paid 14800 for this brand new impala, which we couldn't have gotten a Honda Accord for that. The Impala is a fairly good car. It gets good gas mileage for a large car and is roomy inside. Also has a big trunk! However, I do question the quality of some of the Impala's features. I do feel GM, and all car makers, for that matter, need to improve on quality!
what a sweet ride
This is really one fine ride. Very quick and agile for a car of this size. I picked up the Indy speedway edition on a model close out got a great price. The car is excellent! The only complaints I have are The torque steer under hard acceleration really bad, the SS badges are the same color as the car and its really to quiet for anything that says SS on it.
Happy Camper
Great car at an awesome price. I expected to have to buy something more along the lines of the Cavelier but was able to buy the Impala and it is a joy.
glad i bought american
i waited until i had 12000 miles before i wrote this review because i was so skeptcal of buying a gm car again. But, it's been over 6 months and 12000 miles, and everything has been perfect. Quiet, comfortable, solid build quality, and not one problem. the gas mi. are super for this size car- i avg. 32-33 mpg. mstly all hwy. This car is the best new car i've ever owned, even compared to foreign makes. Good job chevy- if this car continues to be reliable- i'll be back for another.
love it
I love this car..after searching high and low for the right car, I went back and bought the impala. you wont go wrong with this one
Excellent Car
I have had my Impala for four months and I think it is a very fun and reliable car, so far. It is so comfortable. My family loves it, especially my son. It is great on gas and handles well. I look forward to the future with my car.
AWESOME VALUE
I love this car! I have owned a lot of cars, so it's hard to say this is the best of them, but it is certainly among the best. It is good looking, tight handling, and I drive the base model. The Impala is a lot nicer than the Monte Carlo. It has better gas mileage, more interior and trunk room , rides better, and handles just as well. I was reluctant to buy an Imapla as there a million of them on the road, but now I understand why it is so popular. I think it beats most of the imports too. I also drove one with 110,000 miles on it, and it drove just like mine with 22,000 miles.
Best Replacement Choice
I purchased this 2004 Impala as a replacement for a 1999 Crown Victoria. And I could not be more pleased at my choice. I had done careful research, Mich. State Police tests on the Impale and the Consumer Reports results. Both were positive and have proven to be accurate. I recomend the Impala. But be sure to get the proven 3.8II engine. This engine give strong acceleration and higher gas milage.
Just off the lot and havig fun
Good car with nice standard features for a decent price and mileage for a large room car. It looks small on the outside, but feels big on the inside. Love the dual climate control feature.
Second Impala
This is the second Impala I have owned. The other was a 2001. Needs redesign but this has been an excellent value. I used my GM card rebate to save $2,200 after I made the deal. (You must not carry a monthly balance on your card to save any money). Looking forward to my third. The first Impala had a leaking seal on the front after 10,000 miles. The current Impala has 12,000 miles and has not been back to the dealer except for oil changes
Needs a V-8
Glad to see the Impala back. Very nice driving, handling, responsive car. Fun to tour around in. Looks nice.
My Chevy
Love IT! I had always wanted one and after looking at and driving the Impala, I knew it was the car for me. I don't know of anything about this car I don't like. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a new car.
Outside looks great, but that interior..
The Impala SS is an interesting one. On one hand, the exterior changes make this look sporty and aggressive, much better than the base and LS models. The interior needs some of those changes. Decent power, but not what I expected from the supercharged engine. Gas mileage is great for a car this size, and it is very roomy. This is a very well built and solid car. I thought the interior could use several improvements.
Average Owner's Review
Just bought this Chevy 2 weeks ago. I deem it the best value you can get at the price I paid -$12,000 with 15500 miles as a former rental. It feels like a big comfy couch inside, like the '90 Lumina. Dummy gauges are abundant because of their "message center" that tells you just about everything you need to know. Big trunk, big bench seat, great stuff. Consumer Reports called the interior "borderline offensive" because of all the plastic, but I say there's nothing better looking and smelling than Armor-All on plastic pieces. If you are entirely utilitarian like me, get this nice family car. The only minus I have is that you need to step on the gas pedal a second before you really want to go
Love it!
I love my Impala SS Indy Limited edition. It has been an overall great car! It is comfortable, fun to drive, and the sterreo is awesome! My only complaint with this vehicle is having to put premium gas in it. Ooch! It is not a winter vehicle unless you live somewhere that doesn't get any snow!
Bang for your buck
I read reviews about the impala and I was couldnt help to notice Cheverolet advertised this large car was best in class gas mileage. So I took it for a test drive and I have been smiling ever since. I am so happy I bought this car and it's alot more than I thought I could afford. The 200 HP 3.8L has some giddy-up and around town and I am still averaging over 28mpg according to the trip computer it came with. The XM package coupled with the 200W stereo make this car a must have for anyone who has drives 15000 a year. Dont take my word for it, you wont believe how far you dollar will stretch.
In love with my Impalla SS
I have owned my Chevy Impalla SS for over a year now and am in love. This car is almost everything I hoped it would be. It handles like a pro on the express way and can pass just about anything out there. The gas mileage could be better, but being supercharged, its ok with me. I would recommend this car for someone who is looking for affordable luxury with a kick. This car is also very accomidating to teens. the back seat is very roomy and the trunk has pleanty of space for travel.
I love it
I drove an '06 Impala, Accord, Ford 500, Camray, and Altima. When I found this '04 LS with 19000 miles on it sitting in the front row with a $14,900 sticker on it - I fell in love. It has leather, a moonroof and all of the options. Any of the new ones with the same equipment would have run me at leat $12,000 more. I love the car, the ride, the way it looks, the gas mileage and the smell of all of that money in my pocket. If you see an '04 or 05' LS sitting in a lot - take a look and then take a drive. You'll be glad that you did!!! HEY - I LOVE depreciation! If I drive this car for three years I will only lose about $3000 in depreatiation - thank you to person that drove it first!
Good basic transportation
The Impala has been a good car for my needs as a sales rep, putting on over 50,000 miles a year. Nothing spectacular in performance, just good reliable transportation
Half-way there
This is a nice ride which has a lot going for it. The 280lb-ft of torque is above average. The car is big, roomy, comfortable, and has a huge frickin trunk. Interior and Exterior styling is OK. (In my opinion the 2006 has a better interior, but worse exterior.) An SS needs to be a V8 rear wheel drive. The 2006 get us SS fans half way there.
Great car at a great price
I pruchased this car with 25,000 miles, and have put 36,000 on myself. The most major repair has been the replacement of lubricant in the steering shaft, cost a whole $100. I am ecstatic with my gas mileage. I drive 500 miles a week, and I average 28 to 32 miles per gallon. Runs smooth with a great ride. Very minor road noise but nothing major. For a car with only 180hp, it does move when you want it to. It has great styling, I love the design of the dash and gauges. The outside has a great apperance and stance. I have added some custom floor mats and upgraded the stereo by a lot. I will be adding tint and rims soon! However, if you're planning on an Impala, get one with an autodimming mirror!
Neat car
I purchased this vehicle in Aug 2003 when it first came out. I now have 72,000 miles on it and no complaints. It has only needed basic service. It needed new tires at 50K and new brakes at 60K. Only normal service issues. Three car seats fit in the back. Cornering has been excellent, expressway driving has been excellent 30+ mpg at 70 mph. Local driving averages 25 mpg. Could use a better sound system.
Awesome Car!
I love Chevy, The Impala is an awesome car, and extremely reliable. Never have any problems with mine. I put a lot of miles on it, and it still has the power and comfort.
Overall Satisfaction
Very satisfied. Gas mileage not as much as I thought would be about 24 mpg. A few warranty issues with brakes and rotors, speedometer, steering column, paint chipping on volume button for steering wheel. Luckily everything covered under warranty. Very nice car otherwise
'04 Impala LS
My '04 Impala LS has performed great. I have taken it on long trips and gotten around 30 MPG at interstate speeds. I have no complaints and would buy another Chevy Impala again.
Impala a decent car for the money
While it isn't the Impala of the 60's the 2004 Impala is still a pretty decent car. Solid build structure (withstood a concrete truck backing into front end very well). Fuel economy is not excellent but good for a car this size. No major component breakdowns yet. Just quite a few more minor annoyances. Brake part frequent servicing,a number of worrying, but so far harmless, noises of varying types. Comfortable to drive, reasonable quite ride, good handling. Has been a 7.5 out of 10 on overall satisfaction. Lots of trunk space, especially with fold down rear seats. Standard stereo not outstanding but more than adequate. Exterior finish good to very good. Horn stinks, intend to replace it.
Some Problems
This is a fun car to drive. We have had some problems with the engine/SS/fuel injectors. The car is still under warranty. The car begins to sputter driving over 40 mph when you hit the gas peddle. Also, the power steering seems to be going out. Something loose in the column and getting harder to turn when driving slower. Chevy dealers can't seem to find the problem.
Cynthiana
Traded in an Oldsmobile Sillouette. Did see a particular need for a van & also the discontinuance of Olds. Always have been a family car person. Bought the Impala here in PA (Monesson). Been completely satisfied. Only long tripwas to Columbus, GA & back to Pgh area PA. Great gas mileage. Once on the open hiway, I set cruise control on 61 or 62. I do not fight traffic.
Great Car
Fun to drive. Great features.
Good Traveling Car
This car is pretty nice. I have the SS super charged. It's a lot better on gas mileage than I expected. It didn't even take a half a tank of gas to get from where I live to my family's house, like it normally does on the Toyota Camry I had before I traded it for this car. It seems I got a good deal trading in that old Toyota Camry for this Chevy!
impala review
whenever i had to get somewhere fast this car was great.
Finally a real sport sedan from Chevy
The Impala SS has the best build quality I have ever seen on a Chevy (and I have owned several in the last 15 years): No rattles, squeaks or wind noise. Excellent acceleration which will fool many drivers of more expensive luxury sedans(BMW's).No body roll in corners and excellent handling for front wheel drive. It's not a V8 or rear drive but very competent.
Poor Quality Impala
This is our first new car and it has been a horrible car. The motor burned oil for the 1st 10,000 miles when the dealer finally agreed to fix it. The service writers just laugh when the car comes in. GM has even given it an extended warranty because of all the problems. The car is great to drive with all the options when it is holding together. The car was getting 31mpg hwy when they reflashed the computer and now it gets 24mpg and the dealer says that is OK. I am now selling the car. Impalas are great cars. But I won't buy GM for a while until GM and their dealers get it together.
