This Car ROCKS
I love my Impala LS. My parents picked it out for me and it wasn't really what I wanted as a high school student. After driving it a mile down the road I fell in love. It's speedy and VERY fun to drive. I'm always getting comments on my Impala. If you get one, get one with everything....
My New SS Impala
Have only had it a week or so but since it is Chevy's newest Impala wanted to share my views on it. Traded a 02 LS Impala with only 7800 miles that I truly enjoyed but had to have the newest model. I like the heavier feel to the SS and altho I am not a lead foot I can tell it has power to spare compared to the 02. The concept of the SS has always been performance and I think this car will give this to those who desire it.

2004 Impala
The Impala is a nice car, I think leather interior would be better for comfort, I like the option of no ABS, I feel the car stops a lot better.
Horrible
I bought this car in 2004 new with maybe 500-1000 miles on it. They had to replace the dashboard, carpet, starter and thermostat while it was still under warranty. Now that it is not and I own it, it is falling apart. I have just replaced the thermostat and now they are saying it may need a new radiator.
Buy It
Very Smooth driving. Comfortable seats. Feel safe and secure. This is my first and last car I will own !
Impala Solid Performance & Value
Spacious seating and user freindly. Lots of leg, hip and shoulder room, with plenty of room to spare for the person seating in the back seat. The 205 Horse Power engine provides solid performance.I have a Chevy 2500 HD with the 8.1 liter engine,so I am used to alot of horse power.I was not disappointed in the Impala power. The body is very solid and provides a quite ride. I did notice very minor road noise from tires, due to the soft rubber compound of the Goodyear tires. I will go with a set of Brudgestone, once we these tires are worn down (better performance and quiter ride).
Dann good automobile
I think this car is all it was advertised, Ihad a 2001 Mercury and i was pleased with it , but the Impalla is a much bette Car by far, my impalla ia a fun car to drive it has a lot of power , the steering is very good , the paint job is outstanding , it is a very comfortable car Ionly have only 1000 miles on it and am very pleased
Impressed
Impressed by this car. It doesn't have the purchase price tag of my old MB 400E, but it's got a lot more size and safety features than my Audi A4. Car is subtle and understated - perfect for "Q Ship" mode. Everyone comments on how sharp the car's looks are. Because I'm not as "into" the 94- 96 era car, I may be more appreciative of this automobile as a whole - not worried about FWD RWD
2004 Impala LS
Love the Chevy Impala ls ,other than the boring front grill.Handling is surprising for big sedan.Looks good and reliable.May be a little room for improvement but otherwise am delighted
A Great Domestic Automobile
Excellent car! We traded a 2001 Saturn L200 for the Impala and it makes the Saturn seem like it was a piece of junk. The car works well, gets great highway mileage and is so comfortable. Test drove an Accord, Outback, Mazda 6, Saturn Ion, Grand Prix, Vibe, Vue and a Rendezvous and the Impala was not only the best riding car we got a fantastic deal on it. Had the car on a decent sized road trip and got 30mpg+.
comfort and style
There is nothing more to say than just a great all around vehicle. I am really enjoying it . Great mileage and a soft ride like cruising on a cloud. You have to love it.
tire noise
not a bad car for the money
Very Happy
I've put 2K miles on my LS, and don't know of anything to complain about, and that is unusual for me. I looked at several other cars seriously - a Camry, Lexus ES 330, Buick La Sabre, and also briefly considered the Equinox. The Camry is a like driving a wagon compared to the Impala. The Buick is a good car, but it looks like you have to live in a retirement village to own it. The Lexus was seriously considered, but it would have been over 10K more, and I don't think it is worth it. The Impala definitely has a more comfortablbe seat, and 200 hp is plenty unless you are drag racing. The Edmonds review almost kept me from considering the Impala - don't listen.
Impala = SOLID FAMILY CAR
I am a 33 yr old woman with a husband and 2 children ages 7yrs and 3yrs old. The Impala by far has been the best family car I have ever owned. The child safty features are top of the line. The space inside the car is very large. Boys will be boys and mine tend to disagree often and this car provides the space they need to be in there own space and not invade the others personal zone. :) Did I mention the trunk is huge! My last car was a Mazda 626 and I felt I never had enough interior room or trunk space, well I have been spoiled by my Impala..plain and simple!
'04 IMPALA SS
Last three cars were Saabs.when Saab changed design to look like everything else, i decided to try something different. looked at acura tsx, altima, crown vic and gran prix and decided to go with the impala ss for it's combination of roominess (my spreading rear end fits in the front seat and backseat large enough for grandsons' carseats) performance (great low end torque w/o noticeable torque steer) and lots of standard features at a reasonable price ($3500 rebate). nice solid ride, not floaty like the base impalas.
Great Car for the Buck
I Just purchased a Impala LS.Great engine power, rides very smooth with leather seats, comfort seats, moonroof, all the good stuff for a great price, why spend more..
2004 Indy SS
One Badass ride!! I've only drive 2500 mile so far, but fell in love with this car. I'm not going to sell it, being a limited edition. I eat Pontiacs for lunch!
best yet
one of the best chevys i owned yet. you will enjoy for sure and feel confident while on the road. I have very good vibes with this car from day one. Good lu ck with your new set of wheels . you are sure to enjoy.
Best of the bests
I bought 2000,2001,2002,2004 and 2004 impalas. I keep the cars upto 32000 miles and then trade in with a new one. Currently, I have 2004 SS and LS. 2002 was in an accident and car was rolled over 2 times over the hill and 17 years old driver walked away without any scratch on the body. Best ride and money worth car is the Impala car.
Just try it...
don't judge for this car before driving, driving is smooth and powerful, you feel great behind the wheel. i had a nissan altima 2002 and a toyota camry before that, they are not comparable with this car, after hours of driving you still want to go more and more! you never tired when you drive this car. i have my 2003 impala for 2 years and everything still works fine and even better than before! all i know is i don't want to depreciate myself with driving a japanese car anymore.
great car
I like the car, I was not happy that at only a year old (it is a 2002, and it had 42 thousand miles on it already. It runs great. It tells you when you need an oil change, washer fluid, all that. It runs great and very quiet!
THE MONEY PIT!!!!!!!!!!
I have had issues with the security sensor going hay wire, I have installed 2 water pumps in the past 2 yrs, breaks are an annual thing because they are being warped somehow, my battery keeps dying due to some kind of short that has not been found so I had to purchase a battery charger and charge my battery every 2 weeks to make sure I can crank the car and now my transmission is slipping and slamming when I reverse. This car rides smooth however between my annual expenses I have had more bad days then good with this car. Once I get the transmission fixed I am getting rid of this car unless I can get rid of it before then.
SS FUN
On delivery-no scratches, wax on car, hand dirt in interior (poor prep), car jumps (low end torque), rides good on highway and turns are fun, 27.3 mpg on first tank (premium only), lots of looks, everyone speeds up when they see you, wheels are easy to clean (even the back of the wheels). This is a fun car that looks, rides, and runs like a champ-your reviewer can have all the Japanese refinement he wants- I'll take the FUN!
Impala SS
I owned a 1996 SS, ran great, but started falling apart slowly. Bought an '04 showroom model, and I personally think it runs great, looks sportier than recent models, has some great options.
Excellent '04 Impala
I don't typically keep vehicles very long, an average of 6 months to a year. But this is one that I'm going to have a hard time getting rid of. I bought it while on vacation 2500 miles from home. The Metallic Blue caught my eye, and then next thing I know I'm a new owner. Driving home, I got over 32 MPG, with the 3.8L. Can't ask for more than that!!! It was such a joy to drive that I almost forgot about the rest of my vacation and just went on a road trip. Now after 3 months of ownership, I still enjoy the vehicle as if it was brand new.
berryhappy
I am really impressed with the style, performance and fuel economy of this vehicle. I looked all over for the berry red color and found one equipped just like I wanted. The price was outstanding for a full size vehicle, I am very happy with my purchase.
2004 LS
Silver. sunroof, ONSTAR, almost every option except leather, deleted spoiler for better rear view vision. Have 3K on the odometer, pleased so far. Except for oil changes no scheduled maintenance til 100K. Shopped Grand Prix, Camry, Accord, etc. Lots of car for the money.
I love my Chevy
I've owned a BMW 5 Series, (chronic electrical problems and the worst car I ever owned), 2 Mercedes, both very good cars and 15 Town Cars, 2 Cadillacs 2 Pontiacs and 3 Suburbans. My Impala LS is a fun car to drive, economical and reliable. I will definitely purchase another one. GM certainly makes a much better product than they did in the 70's and 80's.
Great Car - everything I need
The 2004 Impala is a great overall ackage. It truly has everything I need. It is very roomy, comfortable and handles well. Its engine has a good combination of enough power and decent fuel economy. It has the utility of a 4-door, which allows me to do everything I need with it, but it also has a sporty and fun feel. I love it! I have not had a single problem with it, and really can't think of a single thing to complain about. It is much better looking, more fun to drive, and a better total package than the Camry, Accord, or any other mid-size and at a much better value!
outstanding!!
great car - Mine has all the options available except the sporty Corvette- inspired rearend which I hate the look of anyway. My first experience was renting one in January 2002 and ever since, I'd had my eye on them. Smooth ride, excellent handling, plush comfort, reasonable price for the options I have. Highly recommend.
impressed
IMPRESSED WITH THE SMOOTH DRIVE, LARGE TRUNK GREAT FOR SHOPPING AND HAULING LARGE OPJECTS. GREAT ON COMFORT BEFORE WE BUY A CAR WE ALWAYS RIDE IN THE BACK SEAT FIRST AND LIKES THE SMOOTH RIDE.THANKS
Chevrolet Impala LS 8900 V6
This car handles with ease. Nice smooth ride. We compared it with the Honda Accord EX-V6. They are almost identical cars, but we saved a lot of money. The Chevy has a longer wheel base for a smoother ride. Love the light beige color interior. We were very surprized at how the domestic cars have improved and with the extended warranty coverage, how can you lose! We were sold on the car after test driving it and comparing it to the Honda Accord. I can see savings in the bank. I like cars that are a little more streamline, therefore Impala LS beat out the rounded, chunky Honda. We have been brainwashed for foreign autos, keeps jobs here in America.
Ken's New Chevy Impala
Since buying this car, I have driven in the snow and wet pavments and I am very impressed with the cars proformance and stopping ability. On a long trip of over 100 miles, I got about 29 mpg and that's quite acceptable to me. The one draw back to me is driver visibility, the post and rearview mirror are in the way.
I like this car
Over all I like this car. I think the outside trim along the doors should be the basic black instead of the same color of the car. When someone hits your door with their door, your paint chips on the trim. Who wants a brand new car with a chip in the door? It made me SICK. MPG was big thing for me, and it does do pretty good. I'm a little disappointed the car doesn't hold it's value. You buy it for 26K and in a year they are selling them for 17K. That alone is enough to make me wish I had bought European. Aside from repair costs I guess.
04 LS Impala
Just bought one and loving it so far. Fast, smooth acceleration, great handling, luxury ride. Interior huge compared to my old Camry and our other car, a Maxima. Kids are in heaven. Trunk Tony Soprano would love. What other car can comfortably seat 6 adults AND all their stuff and get 32 MPG on the highway. This car is the value proposition.
04 impala ss
coolest car ever, except for the lack of a v8 and convertibility
My SS
I finally did it! I traded my 01 Impala LS in for a 04 Impala SS. All I can say is...WOW! I love it! I love it! I love it! It has that extra get up and go when you need it, and it loooks gooood! =) Like I said about my LS (and I do miss him), there is nothing more to life than a good man, good children and a fun car to drive. Semper Fi Chevy! MV
Wooooooooohooooooooo!!!!!!
When I spotted my new automobile, I fell in love with it. I love the Silver color, the body style and the interior.I cant believe the sitting space, very nice, lots of room. And the big trunk...wow. I really like the why it handles on the highway too. From a Malibu to a Impala......wow what a big difference When i left the dealership I told them that I was in 7 heaven and woooooooohooooooooo!! Maria Morman
Second Impala
We bought this 2004 because of the performance of our 2002 Impala, which we intend to keep for many more years! We drive between Arizona and Ohio several times per year. We could not be happier with the comfort, drive, and performance of both the 2002 and the 2004. The gas mileage is far above the listed expectations. Driving 2200 miles each way numerous times has afforded us the opportunity to determine the comfortability of the Impala. The fold down style of the rear seats allows us to haul whatever we need to transport. We have the versatility of a truck with the comfort of a beautiful, well-built automobile.
nice car bad brakes replaced
great gas milage fun to drive and a pleasure to own.
2004 Impala
Thsi is a great car,has all the comfort and nice ride. Good performance from a standard 3.4L engine and provides good fuel economy. Good value for the money spent
04 SS Impala
I love this car.
Many Problems
Overall I would have to say that I do enjoy the car when it isn't back at the dealership getting serviced. I have had problems with the brakes squeeking, rotors going bad, sunroof sticking, and as a result of the sunroof my headliner has been dripping water like crazy. Also the stereo fades in and out. Oh, and "6 speaker system", don't plan on finding the other 2 speakers, there is only 4. The performance isn't what I figured it would be for an SS, but hey can't get everything.
Good deal if you don't pay sticker price
We just purchased a new 2004 Chevy Impala base model. We were orginally going to buy a new Honda Accord, however we couldn't pass up the good bargain we got on the Impala. Its sticker price was 21000 dollars, however GM took 3500 dollars off and also we received another discount of 2250 dollars off the 3500. So it ended up that we only paid 14800 for this brand new impala, which we couldn't have gotten a Honda Accord for that. The Impala is a fairly good car. It gets good gas mileage for a large car and is roomy inside. Also has a big trunk! However, I do question the quality of some of the Impala's features. I do feel GM, and all car makers, for that matter, need to improve on quality!
what a sweet ride
This is really one fine ride. Very quick and agile for a car of this size. I picked up the Indy speedway edition on a model close out got a great price. The car is excellent! The only complaints I have are The torque steer under hard acceleration really bad, the SS badges are the same color as the car and its really to quiet for anything that says SS on it.
First Impala
This has been one of the best cars we have ever purchased. The combination of comfort, quality and value are very hard to beat. it is clear why sales in 2003 were up over 40 percent!
Happy Camper
Great car at an awesome price. I expected to have to buy something more along the lines of the Cavelier but was able to buy the Impala and it is a joy.
Best of 20 cars owned
My 2004 Impala has been an overall pleasure to own and drive. After 100 K miles and normal service, it still rides like a dream and has great acceleration. I average about 34 MPG on the freeway and 26 on local driving - tank after tank.
glad i bought american
i waited until i had 12000 miles before i wrote this review because i was so skeptcal of buying a gm car again. But, it's been over 6 months and 12000 miles, and everything has been perfect. Quiet, comfortable, solid build quality, and not one problem. the gas mi. are super for this size car- i avg. 32-33 mpg. mstly all hwy. This car is the best new car i've ever owned, even compared to foreign makes. Good job chevy- if this car continues to be reliable- i'll be back for another.
So Far, Not So Good
Purchased car end of Jan., car in shop within 24 hrs b/c car won't start. Told nothing wrong, 2 days later same occurred, twice. In the garage since. A high volt code is causing electrical spike with anti- theft system, not allowing car to start. Data recoding sensor on car, & console went out/device shorted out. 2 weeks since purchase, GM/dealership unable to fix or replace vehicle. In rental 1+ wk. & have 1st pymt. due <2 wks. on car driven <3 days! Very diappointed! Hope just a lemon for me! In period of time in car, it performed well, driver friendly & good gas mileage. Plenty of leg room, trunk space & style.
