Good Car
I just got this car 2 weeks ago and have found it to be nothing but a pleasure. I was a little concerned when i seen the brown sludge under the radiator cap, but was relieved when the dealer told me it is a sealent put there from the factory. The room in this car is amazing, at least coming from my old car, a 1997 Dodge Stratus.

great car
only have 400 miles on it cant wait to put more miles on it great car fun to drive feel very safe in it very happy.
Poor brakes
I`ve had the car in three times to have the front brake rotors turned.I have had brake performance problems very early. The dealer asked me if my driving habits had changed and I said no and that I got eighty eight thousand miles on my front brakes on my last lumina.
my top pick
I rent a lot of autos when travelling, and always request the Impala if I have to spend any real time in the car. I own my 2nd Impala. First was a 2000, now a 2002. Great interior design changes in 2 years. Extremely happy with the car overall.
Impalas are Great
We bought our car after my wife had a wreck. The impala has been a wonderful purchase for us.I reccommend this car to anyone.
Still in love after 3+ years
Purchased my Impala Oct '04 and it ranks as my best purchase ever. More than 42 years of driving & owning 11 previous cars + 4 or 5 company vehicles. Key points: Fuel economy is outstanding. Who needs econo-boxes? On cruise control at 55 = 35+ MPG all day long. At 60 it gets 31 MPG. Maintenance: This car's been trouble- free for nearly 56,000 miles. A defective dashboard display was replaced at dealer's request and under warrenty early in 2007. I'm on 2nd set of tires and brakes (49K miles). The car's a hoot to drive and the kids in the little imports can't believe the way my Impala handles and outperforms much smaller cars. I'm sold!
Best car ever
There is nothing more beautiful than an Impala 04! The interior space is perfect and very comfortable. I drove this car for almost three years and never had problems with the engine. I used it for traveling and it was the most comfortable road trip experience driving and as passenger. Even after hitting the 100,000 mile marker, the engine ran smoothly and silently. The Impala is the best car I have ever owned!
GONE!
The car had a nice feel like a older full sized car. The quality was horrible i have never had a car that required more repairs and was on a downhill slide then that car. Fuel regulator, wheel studs, water pump, transmission, etc... The resale value was horrible, just recently got rid of it and purchased a nissan.
I Love My 2004 Impala
I have had many cars, trucks and SUVs and this is by far my best vehicle that I have owned. I love the way it drives, the seating space, body style and interior.
Very, Very Nice
One of the best cars I have ever driven or owned!!!
OUT STANDING EXPERIENCE
what i experienced with this car proceded all my expectations, really you feel as if you are dealing with an impala, it is fast , very very safe ,you have total control extremly reliable performance , very sleaqu high quality vecheil , makes you feel so special .
Very good Car.
I Owned this 2004 impala for 2 years now, My Parents bought it for my Dad to use at around 50,000 miles, then at around 85,000 they gave it to me. It is the best first car i had. I love the design, I just think the interior doesn't look as good as the exterior, as well as those dreadful body moldings, I prefer for it to be body colored like the LS package, but oh well.. Good car to be honest.
Excellent Vehicle
Excellent vehicle, great gas milage. We constantly get 29 to 31 mpg when using the cruise control at 72 mph. The Impala is a fun car to drive with lots of room. It is large on the inside yet it still handles like a sports car. We Love It.
One good car
I sold cars for 25 years, and today all of them are so much better than the were years ago, prices are great with all the rebates! Now is the time to buy what ever you want, but be sure and check for rebates, some Dealers will hide part of it if they can or add on for some other stuff you do not need or want do not get sucked in on finaacing or paint seal or anything that a Dlr.adds on, if they add value added or some other dubble talk walk out go to a Drl thart wants your business not just your money!
Mostly Happy
Bought the car late 2003. Still have it and am now at 108,000 miles. Replaced the temp gauge at 80,000 miles, brakes at 87,000 miles and had no other major problems until 106,000 miles and then the biggie: Transmission went bad. Had to be rebuilt ($2,000). After that bummer, I have resummed my love for the car. Rides smooth, love the interior room. Not the easiest to handle on curves, but this car will fly! Lots of power, with a hint of a luxury feel. Great for road trips. Could be more sound proof inside, but overall well-built car. Would probably buy another.
Disappointing Mileage for 3.4L
Overall this '04 Impala is great! It's a good solid car and comfy to drive. Disappointed with fuel mileage. Top mileage for this 3.4L has only been 27.3 MPG. Besides everyday use, I use it to haul kayaks and bicycles . Had spoiler and alloy wheels installed. It has never let me down, though. Had a 2001 base Impala that was horrible. It spent more time in service department than on the road. Feel '04 Impala was overpriced but got a $4000 rebate and good price on trade-in. Yes, I would buy another base Impala. No car is perfect.
What else offers you factory XM radio?
I looked at the Honda TL for 2004 ....nice car alright but forget sticker prices and far away dealers and questions of service departments....I got a 2004 SS loaded with every option from heated seats to factory XM, CD, bilateral power seats, sun roof, supercharged motor rated one of the ten best motors ever built all for $25,+++ with the incentives...for this price I even like black which I was not looking for in the beginning.
My Impala LS
There is nothing more to life than having a car that is fun to drive. Plus, it looks great just drinving to the local supermarket or mall. It a very under estimated family sedan. Awsome for long trips, because of the great gas mileage. We can get from Washington DC to Wheeling WV and still have a quarter of a tank left!
Smooth Impala
This Impala has been a shear delight to own and drive. It handles well, is comfortable, drives well, and looks great. I like all of the fine features that come with this car. The fog lights, the overdrive, the auto locks, trunk release, the CD, steering wheel radio controls, and other features make it a "dream" to drive.
Not a Bad buy when there's a good rebate
Unrefined. Bought for good price. Backseat comfort poor
OUTSTANDING CAR
O my gosh where to start it rides smooth looks clean love the body style chorm wheels, the only problem is the dang traction light and the check engine light keeps coming on when the weather change, kind confess other than that love it to death.
Chevrolet Impala is an exellent car.
We already have a 2001 Impala and love it. Our daughter took that car and my wife loved the 2001 so much we bought a 2004. It runs and rides great. It's very comfortable and has plenty of power. We haven't had any problems out of our 2001. It's been very reliable. The 2004 seems to be on the same track. Great car!
VERY GOOD CHEVY
THE BACK END VISABILITY IS MUCH TO HIGH.
Great deal
Handling superb -- compares favorably to the 2003 Nissan Maxima. 280 ft-lbs torque really gets your attention. Little body roll for a car this big. Very tight suspension and seventeen inch wheels make it very sporty. Reliability should be good (at least, compared to domestic or European automobiles,) as the 3.8L engine has been around since the late '80s. Complaint: Chevy doesn't know how to design an plush interior. Buick leather is much nicer, the interior just has too much plastic, and bucket seats need a little more lateral support. The XM Satellite Radio, however, was a nice touch.
retired
Hi guys after owning chevs since 1970 i naturally chose one to start into my retirement with .Can say i am happy with the overall performance, but not to happy with the ride the tires give i find they are hard riding and noisy the dealer agreed and is trying to work something out with G.M. other than that the only thing i find wrong is the back seats are a little hard for long drives. sure would be nice if they came back with the 5.7 eng . I will look closer next time i buy a new car .Hope everyone has a great yr.
can't go wrong
We bought the Impala for the size and value and I think we got it right. I can't tell you how many cars we looked at before we bought it. It drives and looks great. I know there seemed to be a difference in the ride of the base model and the ls model. The ls you just can't complain. I have 2 sons who play sports so I appreciate the trunk room.I would recommend this car to anyone.
Awesome
I like the get up and go of the engine. I drive a canyon everyday to work with a lot of curves and it handles really well. It is very comfortable and I don't hear outside noise like some cars I have had. I'm just in love with it! It's a pleasure to get behind the wheel.
love my chevy
i just got my chevy impala,i really like the way it drives, and handles,i love the stereo system, the interior, the gas mileage etc.its white, the body style is beautiful. thanks for coming out with a really nice roomy sedan,i'm really pleased and evidently alot of others are to by the looks of the ones you see on the highway!! thanks again!Marlene
Chevy Impala LS 2000
I saw one in the parking lot, on the TV and ordered one for myself after looking at the review. I was very impressed with the overall pleasent design change and they got away from the "Hot Rod" engines. I get 22.5 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway, better if I took my foot off of the gas and no A/C. I love this car. I would buy another, but think I should keep the one I bought. I bought a 2000 Impala LS with a sunroof and lots of extras.
SS Impala Indy style
I bought this car about a month ago and thanks to a long trip to Daytona 500 I got to break it in right. lots of power, good road feel, very stable on highway even around big rigs.Just a small amount of road noise not too bad.Good gas milage 25.2 around 75-80 mph! you might get better.Overall very happy with purchase.I like the looks with the optional wheels and havent seen many others. The only thing i did was tent the windows for a sweet ride!
Your Basic Car
I bought my 2004 Chevrolet Impala in 2008. I was reluctant to buy it because of the intake gasket problems on the 3.4 litre V6 engines GM made. So far I haven't had any problems with it. What I love about this car is its simplicity, and comfort. It has responsive acceleration, and the controls are simple and easy to use. The steering is tight, and the car overall is solid. I bought it with 57000 miles on it. I now have 98000 miles on it. I have been impressed so far.
My Impala
I really enjoy my Impala.
Impala--feels like a luxury car
I do a lot of driving in my work and this car has the most comfortable ride and roomy interior. My back is well supported and I love the leather upholstery I chose to include in the Impala I bought. The ride is smooth and the steering tight and responsive. I love my Impala.
Great car and great value
Excellent car and excellent value for the price. Has 105K miles, drives fantastic and has Great gas mileage (23-25mpg in mostly city driving). Paint and interior still look new. I recommend it to everyone.
This Car ROCKS
I love my Impala LS. My parents picked it out for me and it wasn't really what I wanted as a high school student. After driving it a mile down the road I fell in love. It's speedy and VERY fun to drive. I'm always getting comments on my Impala. If you get one, get one with everything....
Love my Impala !
My car is great to drive around town, roomy enough to take the kids on vacation and school but sporty and fast enough to be fun to drive. Great gas mileage on trips as well. I love the looks and feel of it.
why bother to make an 04?
The only difference between the 03 and 04 LS appears to be the price, about $2K more after rebates and discounts. For the $2K GM could of at least added head airbags. Otherwise, they should just keep making the 03's.
chev impala 2003
All in All the impala is a great car for the money love it needs some work on the comfort and road noise but a great car
My New SS Impala
Have only had it a week or so but since it is Chevy's newest Impala wanted to share my views on it. Traded a 02 LS Impala with only 7800 miles that I truly enjoyed but had to have the newest model. I like the heavier feel to the SS and altho I am not a lead foot I can tell it has power to spare compared to the 02. The concept of the SS has always been performance and I think this car will give this to those who desire it.
GOOD CAR ALL AROUND
VERY COMFORTABLE VEHICLE THAT IS A NICE EVERYDAY SPACIOUS CAR.
Better buy this one
Being a bigger guy (6'4", 280 lbs) I looked for a car where I could be comfortable. None matched the Impala in comfort, ride, performance, and price. I've got the 3.4 and it is impressive. The mileage is far better than I would have thought possible. It's a quiet ride befitting the large car that it is. The handling is far better than I ever hoped it could be. I've yet to feel body roll in any turn. I've had a couple of times where the 4 wheel disk brakes were needed and I can say they are definitely the way to go. Fit and finish are impeccable. The medium gray metallic shows off very well in sunlight or clouds.
2004 Chevrolet Impala Base Sedan
The Impala is a modern stylish sedan with plenty of passenger room, trunk space, and a responsive engine that accelerates when you need it, yet gets excellent gas mileage! I love my Impala and am thinking about trading my other car for another Impala.
Impala Solid Performance & Value
Spacious seating and user freindly. Lots of leg, hip and shoulder room, with plenty of room to spare for the person seating in the back seat. The 205 Horse Power engine provides solid performance.I have a Chevy 2500 HD with the 8.1 liter engine,so I am used to alot of horse power.I was not disappointed in the Impala power. The body is very solid and provides a quite ride. I did notice very minor road noise from tires, due to the soft rubber compound of the Goodyear tires. I will go with a set of Brudgestone, once we these tires are worn down (better performance and quiter ride).
Horrible
I bought this car in 2004 new with maybe 500-1000 miles on it. They had to replace the dashboard, carpet, starter and thermostat while it was still under warranty. Now that it is not and I own it, it is falling apart. I have just replaced the thermostat and now they are saying it may need a new radiator.
Dann good automobile
I think this car is all it was advertised, Ihad a 2001 Mercury and i was pleased with it , but the Impalla is a much bette Car by far, my impalla ia a fun car to drive it has a lot of power , the steering is very good , the paint job is outstanding , it is a very comfortable car Ionly have only 1000 miles on it and am very pleased
Impressed
Impressed by this car. It doesn't have the purchase price tag of my old MB 400E, but it's got a lot more size and safety features than my Audi A4. Car is subtle and understated - perfect for "Q Ship" mode. Everyone comments on how sharp the car's looks are. Because I'm not as "into" the 94- 96 era car, I may be more appreciative of this automobile as a whole - not worried about FWD RWD
comfort and style
There is nothing more to say than just a great all around vehicle. I am really enjoying it . Great mileage and a soft ride like cruising on a cloud. You have to love it.
Impala = SOLID FAMILY CAR
I am a 33 yr old woman with a husband and 2 children ages 7yrs and 3yrs old. The Impala by far has been the best family car I have ever owned. The child safty features are top of the line. The space inside the car is very large. Boys will be boys and mine tend to disagree often and this car provides the space they need to be in there own space and not invade the others personal zone. :) Did I mention the trunk is huge! My last car was a Mazda 626 and I felt I never had enough interior room or trunk space, well I have been spoiled by my Impala..plain and simple!
'04 IMPALA SS
Last three cars were Saabs.when Saab changed design to look like everything else, i decided to try something different. looked at acura tsx, altima, crown vic and gran prix and decided to go with the impala ss for it's combination of roominess (my spreading rear end fits in the front seat and backseat large enough for grandsons' carseats) performance (great low end torque w/o noticeable torque steer) and lots of standard features at a reasonable price ($3500 rebate). nice solid ride, not floaty like the base impalas.
