This Cruze LT has been great so far. On a 1000-mile road trip, I got 44.3 mpg based on fill-ups, very close to the computer at 44.5. It was 90% interstate at an average of 74 mph with temps in the 80s and 90s. On a 100-mile stretch of rural highway, I got 48.7 mpg going 60-65 mph, including driving through some small towns. The ride is very smooth and quiet. GM builds nice riding cars. The driver's seat fits me perfectly. I had no need for lumbar support. Great seat design. It's the best driver's seat I've experienced for a long drive. The AC is very efficient - with it set on only the third notch, it kept the car cool when it was 95 outside. Around my small town, I have been getting 42-43 mpg, matching the computer. I really like the auto stop - just like in our Prius - and it really helps save gas. The steering is secure, and the car corners nicely with very little lean. I prefer the Cruze handling to the Mazda 3 I test drove. The sound system is very good. I got the RS appearance package with Red Hot paint, and the car looks sharp. I've already received many compliments on the car's looks. The increased back seat space is a welcome change over my 2014 Cruze, which was pretty cramped in the back. The power seat is great and easily adjusts for a comfortable position. A few minor drawbacks: The visors don't slide, which can be annoying depending on the sun's location. Also, the chrome trim is nice, but it creates annoying sun reflections at certain times of the day, especially the chrome around the shifter. The passenger seat has no height adjustment, and sits a little low, in my opinion. There's only one 12V outlet (cigarette lighter), and my previous Cruze Eco had a second outlet in the back, which was convenient for my teenagers on long trips. These are minor issues, though. Overall, I really like this new Cruze.

I question the validity of the negative reviews that have been written. Just because you don't like the Auto Stop/Start feature doesn't mean the entire car is bad. I for one like it because it saves gas and I have no problem accelerating from a standstill; the engine instinctively starts back up and the turbo kicks in and I'm flying. Besides, once you get used to the Auto Stop/Start you won't even notice it. There really is not a better compact car out right now that can match the 2016 Cruze in terms of reliability, comfort, etc. This car is fun to drive and for me the 0-60 time with the automatic transmission is about 8 seconds, which is good for a compact sedan with a 4-cylinder engine. The interior is tastefully appointed and built well for a $20,000 car. Upon getting inside the vehicle you forget you're in a compact car thanks to a welcoming interior, smooth ride, and lots of space! Seriously, this car feels bigger on the inside and the trunk is still a very good size. The controls are simple and very easy to use. This car offers all the bells and whistles for a very affordable price!

Stable, quiet cruiser

I can't disagree more with one of the other reviewers. I own a LT automatic with the keyless start, and have put nearly 2,000 miles on in 3 weeks. This car has great, responsive steering. I have never driven a compact that is as quiet and stable on the road. I own 2 of the old body style cruzes(2011 Eco auto, 2016 limited 1.8 manual), and have a sister with a corolla, a friend with a focus, and test drove the new civic and Mazda 3. The handling wasn't quite as crisp as the Mazda, but it felt better than the Mazda and all the others as a daily driver. I average over 43 mpg doing 76 mph on the interstate. The absolute worst tank I saw was 33 mpg with about 80% town driving and one short highway trip--I love the start-stop feature at stop lights. One problem is in stop/go creeping I find myself taking my foot off the brake and creeping forward to try to override it if the car in front will start to move right away. My guess is the reviewer getting 24 mpg is actually a 2016 limited with the 1.8 auto, and the guy that felt unstable was on a short test drive on some kind of grooved road that needs to be fixed. I encourage anyone to put this car on your test drive list.

Auto Stop/Start CAN BE DISABLED!

Simply Shift into "L" and press the "+" sign on the shift knob 5 times while watching the speedometer display. The display will initially show "L1" but this will be incremented with each press of the "+" sign (ie: L2, L3, L4, L5 and L6). What you're actually doing is specifying the maximum gear to use while in Manual Shift Mode, with sixth gear (Top Gear-L6 selected) as the highest gear available. The car will still shift Up/Down automatically To/From whatever gear (L6 in this case) you specified, so you don't really need to manually press the "+" or "-" signs on the shifter for gear changes. It is important that you specify the appropriate maximum gear to use or the rev limiter will kick in! Just select sixth gear (L6). The car will not shut down at stoplights when in Manual Mode. I use Manual Mode with L6 selected only when I'm in heavy traffic and expecting shutdowns.

So far, I love the car. I am 6'1" and have plenty of head room. At my age, getting in and out is taking some getting use to, especially since I downsized from a minivan. Combined city and highway, I am averaging between 36-38 mpg. That is my figures, the car computer says it's higher in the mpg than what I have figured. The steering handles well and it is a comfortable ride. Not a fan of the stop/start feature of the motor while at a traffic light, but it does work like a charm.

I had been waiting for this car to come out for over a year. I like compact cars that have decent interior space, and on paper, this looked like it would be great. When it finally came out, I took an LT for a long test drive, fully expecting to buy it if I liked it. There were several things I liked about it: (1) Once going, the engine accelerated really well. (2) The driver's seat was extremely comfortable. (3) The ride and handling were great for an inexpensive compact car. (4) The rear seats finally have decent legroom. (5) Tight turning radius makes it very easy to maneuver in tiny parking spaces. (6) The instruments and infotainment screen gave me all that I needed and were easy to use. OK, sounds great, but I didn't buy it. Why? Because: (1) The stupid start/stop that cannot be turned off. I hate this feature, it completely intrudes on the driving experience and makes it not natural. (2) First gear feels remarkably weak - it's almost as if the car is starting in second gear or something. Added to the annoying hesitation from the start/stop, the car felt downright unsafe if I have to make a quick move from a stop such as doing a left turn before oncoming traffic. The car is great once it gathers some speed, but there's something odd about how it first gets moving. (3) The rear window is really small - at least the backup camera comes standard. (4) The interior, while spacious, was not attractive. The one I drove had this shiny black hard dashboard and the color and material extended to the doors. Maybe it works in other colors. So overall, I left the dealership feeling disappointed because I had really wanted to like this car and it does have some great attributes. I am thinking of getting the LT in manual, which would eliminate the start/stop and pudgy first gear issues.

I got rear ended and Enterprise gave me this car, with only 4,000 miles on it, while mine was being repaired. Interior looked good, seats are super comfortable, and the touch screen info center is surprisingly, not bad. Colors were vibrant, touch sensitivity was nice, and Apple CarPlay was very cool to use considering my current car is not new enough to have that feature. Backup camera was a nice touch too. Ride quality was a little soft for my taste, but very comfortable. Steering was way too mushy for me, however most American cars are like that, so I can't be too surprised. Acceleration and power were satisfactory considering the small size of the engine. For 1.4L of displacement, I was actually pleasantly surprised. The brakes were a little touchy, but I prefer responsive, powerful brakes to squishy ones so not complaints there. So far, everything I've said was quite positive, and you may wonder, why is this car killing me from the inside out? Auto-stop technology. This feature makes me question who got in the final prototype car and said, "this is great!". For those of you who are not familiar with this feature, I can explain. Auto-stop will temporarily shut off your engine when the car is stopped, for example, at a red light. Doing so saves fuel when the car is not moving. Once the driver lets his/her foot off the brake, the engine automatically starts back up and you're on your way. On paper, this feature sounds fantastic. However, it absolutely ruins the driving experience of this car. Every time I come to a stop, you feel a slight shudder as the engine shuts off. Once this happens, the auxiliary battery engages to power all the cars accessories temporarily (a/c, radio, 12v ports, headlights, etc) until the engine starts turning the alternator again. However, running an a/c compressor takes a fair amount of energy, so to ensure the auxiliary battery is not drained, the Chevy Cruze turns your a/c fan speed all the way down to the lowest setting next to off. This, in my opinion, is legitimately unacceptable. When a feature that is supposed to happen behind the scenes alters my climate control, it is going to frustrate me. In the Texas heat where cars left out in the sun can reach interior temperatures well in excess of 140 degrees, having my a/c fan essentially get disabled at stoplights is infuriating. Then, when I let my foot off the gas, there is a noticeable delay where the car is in neutral, then the whole car jolts forward as the engine turns over and the clutch is engaged. I have zero faith in this power train, and it feels unsafe to drive. When trying to take unprotected lefts at busy intersections, I have to press the gas before I actually want to start moving in order to negate the delay of the auto stop feature. Chevy claims the car can sense when the operator is in stop and go traffic versus daily driving, to ensure the car does not constantly turn on and off in bumper to bumper traffic. I have not noticed this to be true, as even in stop and go traffic during my 45 minute commute home, the engine turns off every time the car stops moving, which makes it feel like you're riding in a car with someone who learned how to drive a manual trans yesterday. I am honestly just shocked that something like this could make it off the assembly line, and I see plenty of these vehicles on the road. Am I the only one that feels like this is a laughable attempt at fuel economy or are all the owners of this car feeling as if they shot themselves in the foot? What is sad is that this would be, quite honestly, a very nice car if this feature were to be removed. I legitimately have essentially zero other complaints, however this feature completely kills the driving experience and makes it more frustrating than it is worth. I don't know how many people will read this far, but please, if you plan to buy this car take it for a very through test drive, with lots of frequent stops so you can experience auto-stop technology and decide if it's right for you.

Auto Stop not impressed

Renting this car for a summer vacation trip. First thing I noticed is the rear window has a smaller visibility view. Had a hard time seeing the road directly behind me. Further on back, no problem. Next thing was the annoying speed limit indicator going off every time I went over 55 mph. Took me an hour to figure out how to turn that off. You had to go to the (DIC) driver information center settings to turn that off. Now the most annoying feature is the Auto Stop. Every time you stop, the engine shuts off until you take your foot off the brake. When taking your foot off the brake, then the engine restarts. Constantly turning on and off during city driving. Extremely annoying with the constant shutter as the engine shuts off. Can't imagine what the transmission and engine will be like with this feature at 50,000 miles. Car is being rented and only had 1,800 miles on it. So it's right off the line. Highway driving was fine. Ride a little hard on rough roads. Gas mileage great. The rear view camera was a very nice feature. A/C was good. Rented a 2015 Cruze last year and was impressed with that model. Renting a 2016 this year and would consider it a downgrade. If looking to buy I would take it out and drive in the city for a half hour and get a good feel for the Auto Stop feature before making a final decision.

The only dislike I have is I don't really care too much for the the auto stop. When the car shuts down on it's own. It scared me at first, now I am more used to it. I assume most newer cars have this feature. This is a very comfortable smooth driving car. I was very surprised with how quickly this car can accelerate and take off. I wasn't expecting that from a 4 cylinder. We purchased the turbo ls. The handling is great. Visibility is good, but the camera helps out with reverse. I could see where it would be a little difficult to judge with out the back camera. I give this car an excellent rating and would recommend them to anyone. Chevy never disappoints.

So far I have put 2400 miles on my Red Hot 2016 Cruze LT. On a recent interstate road trip of 1000 miles in June, I set the cruise at 74 and got 44.1 mpg based on fill-ups. (The computer was very close, reading 44.3.) It's a great car for long trips. The ride is smooth and quiet. The power driver's seat made it easy to find a comfortable driving position. My model doesn't have power lumbar, but I didn't need it because the seat's standard lumbar design is perfect for me. Around my small town, I get 38-43 mpg depending on my route. The back seat has a LOT more leg room than our previous Cruze, which my teenagers really like. The built-in WiFi works very well. Bluetooth works nicely as well. Good sound system. Controls are very easy to use. The AC is very efficient. On medium-low, the car stayed comfortable with temps in the 90s. Visibility is good in all directions. I like the black interior - looks classy. On the down side, there could be a little less chrome in the interior - sunlight reflections are pretty annoying at times. Also, the visors don't slide, which creates some other sun issues. There's no second DC outlet in the back seat, which my previous Cruze had, and my teenagers greatly miss it! The front passenger seat does not adjust for height and sits a little low, in my opinion. Overall, I am pleased with this new Cruze. I have the RS appearance package, which has already received lots of compliments, even from strangers. UPDATE - January 2018. 18,000 miles on the car. A month ago, the auto-stop failed 5 times in one day at intersections, leading to a stalled engine when I lifted my foot off the brake. I had to restart by shifting into park, and then pressing the ignition button (while other drivers honk at me). I took it into the dealer, and the computer could not find any problem. However, it hasn't happened again in the last several weeks. Still, it's making me paranoid. So, for now, when I'm stopped at an intersection and the auto-stop is about to kick in (usually when it's 50 degrees or warmer in my experience), I shift into neutral to keep the auto-stop from engaging. I then shift back to drive when I'm ready to go. Other than that issue, I still really like this car for its handling, smooth ride and overall comfort. On a recent 1000-mile road trip - 90% interstate - I averaged 43.6 mpg based on fill-ups (computer was just a little off at 44.1).

Listen to your customers. Your customers will choose other brands if GM forces them to live with stop/start feature. Give them an option to turn it off. Customers hate it. Just hate it. Also, the front of the driver's seat needs to be able to tilt down few degrees more. So uncomfortable.

The restyled Chevy Cruze is extremely spacious and comfortable to drive. The materials are high quality and look great. Fuel economy is 28-30 around town and 40-45 highway. Performance is more than adequate with the performance of the 1.4 turbo and 6 speed automatic. The only complaint I've had concerns the engine auto-stop feature when vehicle is stopped. This can be overcome by shifting into L and manually upshifting to 6th gear. Overall, I am very pleased with the appearance and performance of my Cruze and would buy again.

I own the LT Automatic: I want something with better acceleration. This car has a sling shot acceleration (it kinda sits in the same spot for a second or two, before it accelerates) And when it does accelerate its not impressive. I will say, if you purchase an aftermarket cool-air intake system that this car sounds WAAAY cooler... it makes this impressive hissing sound when you accelerate and gives you a slightly better acceleration; I bought mine from Amazon.com for about $250. Also, the braking isn't terrible but my last car had waaay better braking. My last vehicle was a 2011 Buick Enclave CXL-1 FWD so maybe I'm spoiled. Lastly, this car has this annoying feature that shuts off the engine AND the A/C when you brake to a stop; dude, when its hot outside and you're trying to cool down, the last thing you want is the A/C shutting off during every stop-sign and red light, FML. So ill be getting rid of this car ASAP and getting the 2016 Malibu 2.0 (that car is a beast but it does cost about $6-8k more.. but its well worth it)

Issues like crazy. Bought this car in 16. Brand new within a week the brakes fail. Took it in and they fixed it after a month. This past December I have a bad oil leak and I take it in and they state nothing is wrong with it that they put dye in the oil and everything was good. So a week later oil is still leaking like crazy and I take it back in and they stated there is a leak in the seals. So after waiting 2 weeks it gets fixed and everything is good. Then about a 4 weeks ago oil is leaking all over the ground. I take it in once again and they stated they cleaned it all up and they don’t see a leak. So I take it home and about a few days later there is oil all over the ground once again. I take it back and after them having my car for nearly 2 weeks they found a leak and have to replace more seals. Garbage car. I also got screwed out of $228 due to them telling me they can’t put me in a loaner so I have to go get my own since they told me I would get paid back since it’s under warranty. I just got a call to be told they can’t pay me back. Horrible.

After 9 years, we still think that we like clean design by an American; twas engineered in Germany. Outstanding value, performance, economy, space (for a compact), quiet, comfortable, reliable, great looking. After buying and driving a 2011 Cruze we added another 2016 Cruze 5 years later. Our German friends told us about the Cruze's popularity in Europe and England and we love the smooth looks and all around value. GM should have hung in with efficient small sedans.

The worst car ever and chevy should be ashamed for even selling these cars. My son bought a used chevy cruze with 60k miles. He's only had the car for 10 months and we've already paid out $3000 in repairs. From water pump, key remote, electrical problems and this last time a turbo kit which is $1500 in repairs. They should give anyone who has ever bought this car ALL of their money back. Bad investment for anyone!!!

I bought this car with 40 miles on it, that’s right, 40! So practically straight from the factory! The auto stop is irritating and unnecessary, however this does not even BEGIN to explain my problems with this car. At 61,000 miles (of course right when warranty goes out), the auto stop stopped working! Which I was honestly thankful for. THEN, a few days after this stopped working, I was almost home after a long day of work and the car starts shaking violently, and not accelerating at all! So I pull over to see what’s going on, and the engine is shaking violently. Now I took very good care of this car as this was my baby, regular oil changes, waxes, tire rotations, and maintenance. I take the car to the dealership I bought it, and they offer no help whatsoever. One of the four pistons in the engine is dead so I have to replace the engine completely, $7000 minimum. What does GM say? They’ll help out with $3000 of that. I will never be buying a GM car again. I thought I was buying a good reliable car and BOY was I wrong.

Just leased the 2016 Chevy Cruz Premium, so glad I didn't purchase due to auto stop/start. I think this is going to be a safety issue, when the start fails. The stop start is noisy and annoying. Went to dealer to try and disconnect, service said customers are complaining all day about this feature. I've got 2 years and 11 months to go, unless recalls begin sooner.

I drove this car for a week while mine was in the shop. Initially I thought "What a fantastic car". I had not been in a Chevy for years and was genuinely surprised by the quality, comfort, and ride. The good. It rides great with fantastic gas mileage. Lots of backseat room. Seats are comfortable. Center display is great. Like the Bluetooth connectivity. Sound system good. Material quality is good and while not a stunning interior it is fashionable. Good trunk space. The bad. These are things that would absolutely keep me from buying this car. The engine stop/start feature and no ability to turn it off. It is frustrating, annoying and ridiculous. It is the single most detractor of this car. The second is that the brake pedal is three inches higher than the accelerator. The last is that there is no map displayed with directions. They have "Navigation" if you call On Star turn by voice navigation but I would never buy a car without mapped navigation.

I have my Cruze LT 2016 and 7 years later, it's a very good car. No issues. When I bought the Cruze, I was thinking going to have transmission problems or engine due auto stop, but now save gas. Very Economical, only change a set the breaks.

The idea of the turbo on the Cruze is great until you have to replace it. Having the fuel economy of a 4 cylinder with the power feel of a 6 cylinder is nice. The turbo goes out pretty quick in my opinion. My Cruze is only 3 years old. The dealership has had to replace these so often that the part is on back order with no eta 😡. The auto stop is annoying, but you get used to it. Paying over $1500 to replace the turbo, not worth it. If you among the lucky ones it will go out before your warranty expires. I'm just outside of the mile limit. I think I'd rather have the power of a 4 cylinder, than deal with the turbo.

I believe it starts at the right dealership first off, Matt Artus was my salesman and he was very nice, answered all my questions and worked with me to get me a great deal. The rest of the staff at the dealership was very friendly and welcoming. I know from working at a dealership for 7 years the difference between genuine and just wanting the sale. I purchased a 2016 Chevy Cruse LT and I love it, one thing I didn't like (the only thing) on the vehicle was the silver hub caps and they switched them to black for me with no problems. The car drives great and the gas mileage is awesome. It's worth the drive to this dealership if you don't live near by.

I literally fell in love with this car. I purchased this car yesterday, 2016 Cruze LT, 25,000miles...To good to be true, it seriously almost got me killed today. Car completely shut off while driving. Steering locked up, breaks locked up... could not move at all. Totally freaked me out. Was looking for a safe reliable car, ended up almost getting creamed by another vehicle.

First let me preface this by saying I actually own this car. So why did I title this as (The Review you want to see)? well put simply I have a real world view of this car. We (my wife and I) got this car with only five miles on it Now it has over 150,000. So, lets start it is comfortable, vary nice looking, and it handles nicely. The start/stop is not a big problem ( at first) . When we got this car we needed a car for the "long haul" we live more than 30 miles from work. Within the first 500 miles it developed a noise when accelerating up hill or around curves. we took it back and the technician said he couldn't find anything wrong. We decided it was just "one of those things" and continued to drive it. We changed the oil regularly (by the warranty's standards) and every time(emphases on every time) we went in there was a new and more wonderful recall. Then around 75k It got fun. It developed an issue well the warranty was up at 60k and we were told the would need to keep the car for a while and run tests. it cost 550 just to be told it was a vacuum leak soon the brake assist stared failing then a lovely assortment of sensors started going out and we were told the would just have to begin changing them at random because "any one of the sensors could be causing the problem) we even Called General motors and they could not tell us anything. So,here the car does still drive and run but we are just waiting for it to die and hoping it's paid off before then. Long story short, If you are looking for a "10 year car" this is not the car for you.

Never buy a chevy. They don't back their cars and there is a reason. My son bought a 2016 chevy cruze, new, with a loan. BIG mistake. It has 60000 miles but before it reached that, it has broken down at least 5-6 times due to computer going crazy, and not allowing it to work. They bring it in , chevy tries to charge under warranty, then they say they fixed it or don't have parts yet, come back later, (like when it goes over 60000 miles). Now, just over 60 the water pump broke, a $700 fix, and they never fixed all the other problems. When they first bought the car, it had a computer glitch, so they took the first new car back and gave them a second one, this one, that is a piece of xxxT. Do your homework before you even think about getting a chevy unless you want to spend your time on the side of the road, or in the car shop, and you want to go broke. This is a young couple, just trying to work and get ahead. They should not have bought a new car to begin with but you'd think at least they would have a reliable car for a few years to get to work. Not with a chevy. Buy toyota, they stand behind their cars for the most part, and had at least 4 of them, they work and don't send send you to the poor farm like these two people. I wouldn't take a chevy if you gave it to me for free....and i am totally serious, not a joke. Why can't American's make a decent car? i think it has something to do with what they can get away with, that other companies from outside the USA can not. Just a theory.

Unstable Steering

Neward Thelman, 04/21/2016
2016 Chevrolet Cruze Premier 4dr Sedan (1.4L 4cyl 6A)
23 of 45 people found this review helpful

It appears that the industry's heading to electronic power steering. The almost unthinkingly repeated justification for that is supposed to be some [unspecified] improvement in fuel economy, but I suspect that any fuel mileage gains are trivial and incidental. The real reason is more likely to be cost of manufacturing savings. By dispensing with a series of mechanical/hydraulic linkages and parts, car makers can save a small bundle, and as a side effect, maybe gain a small bit of gas usage savings. In my opinion, the systems aren't quite ready for prime time, and seem to have been rushed to market. Which isn't anything new; beta testing's been common in high tech for a long time now. However, in automobiles, the results may be disastrous; even ending in death. Toyota had its bout of electronic power steering issues with the previous production run of the Corolla. Having driven a Ford and several Chevy's using electronic power steering, I'd say the Americans are doing far worse. I test drove two different brand new generation Cruzes on two different roads. In either case, when accelerating, the new Cruze feels unstable and almost out of control. You can feel lack of security. The car feels as if you're driving it on a sheet of sheer ice. At highway speeds, that feeling only intensifies. The car never feels glued to the road, solid, and sure. Indeed, it feels the opposite of that. The tiniest twitch of your hand on the steering wheel makes the car veer, and if you correct, it veers the other way. You quickly feel as if you're going into a tailspin. Eventually, you may get accustomed to all of the instability, but it's likely to rear it's scary head in bad weather - exactly when you need to feel in total control of your vehicle. I would imagine that the car would do poorly in accident avoidance situations, such as veering to avoid the cell phone texting driver who just popped into your lane. The 2016 Corolla and the 2016 Civic feel much more secure than the Cruze. However, all of them fail in this respect when compared to a car with standard power steering [a feature becoming rare nowadays]. Beyond that, the Cruse had more power and better acceleration than the Corolla, but less than the Civic. Visibility is poor. You pretty much can't see a thing over your left shoulder, making merging or changing lanes a coin toss. Good luck. The rear window is narrow and radically slanted [just as on the Civic], reducing visibility and disconnecting you from the road further. In the Premier model, the interior was plush, upscale, and nicely appointed. Chevy's put in a lot of effort to reduce harshness, noise, and vibration, so you have a real sense of a luxury-type interior. By comparison, the Corolla's a spartan econo-box, and even the new, improved Civic falls short of the Cruze Premier. The next step down LT has less of the sense of luxury, and more plastic presence, but the quietness and sense of refinement remain. Besides the steering instability, the ride itself is pleasantly smooth. The Corolla is significantly harsher and more jarring. The Civic is better than the Corolla, but still a distance in this respect from the Cruze. What all of the arrogant, self-congratulatory automotive reviewers have failed to mention - besides the screamingly stark and dangerous shortcoming of the unstable steering [one such honcho actually described the 2016 handling as sure and precise! - these people really do seem to exist in country club universe] - is that the car battery is located inside the passenger compartment of the car - specifically, right under the rear seat. The justification for this that the battery won't be subjected to extremes of engine compartment heat and hard, freezing cold. All of that may be true, but I wonder if any consideration was given for the potential for exploding batteries. Additionally, unless the engineers worked out a different solution [not betting on it with American car makers], the electric cables now have to run under the car, from back to front. If so, then those cables will be exposed to water, salt, snow, and everything else to which the underbody of a car's exposed. Since the car reviewers haven't mentioned the issue of steering stability [they mostly only say good things about every car they test, and rarely address issues such as reliability], and the public hasn't made any complaints, it's unlikely that GM will make any positive improvements to their electronic power steering designs any time soon. Indeed, they may even be going backwards in that regard. I'd previously driven a 2015 Cruze Premier. The steering had the many of the same issues as the new model does, but not as much. It seemed a bit more stable. With the new model having even more insecure steering than the one it replaces, it seems clear that GM's attention is focused elsewhere.

I drive a lot for my job. I was planning on keeping my 2016 Cruze lt., but I already have a check engine light on. The repair cost is too steep. My warranty is up, because my work car was down for a while and I had to use my pleasure car for work. The seat repair that was a recall still scares me, because when I get in the car, the seat acts as if it is not properly attached. It drives good, but whatever that’s causing the check engine light to be on seems to feel like it is affecting the ride of the car. My headlights gets moisture in them, but the dealership said that it is not a problem. I am afraid that I will be replacing my bulbs too soon. My heater sometimes makes weird noises. My Bluetooth doesn’t always work.

Economy is good avg. 32 mph city/road. Still clean and wife loves it. 2/5/2021 5 years and 9000 miles ...no change in gas mileage . Wife just loves this car. 2/16/20226 years and 12,000 miles. A great small car. Too bad GM stopped building them. Still clean no rust no issues.

I drove a 2016 Cruze LT as a rental for two-and-a-half days while my 2014 Civic was getting a minor bumper repair. There are no ways to express how much I hated this car. There was not much headroom, the front seat was uncomfortable, the stop/start was annoying, it lacked power and it rolled backwards when I stopped at stop signs on small hills and took my foot off the brake (automatic transmission). The interior layout and controls for the windows and other instruments was goofy, almost as if GM didn't know where to put things so they just threw it in anywhere. The driver's window did not do an "express up" like most cars and you had to hold the button. The controls for the outside mirrors were not within reach. The radio did not turn off when I turned off the ignition, I had to open the door first with the engine running. It had a foot operated parking brake and some of the radio station controls were behind the steering wheel and every time I moved my hands I accidentally changed stations. It stalled once in the drive through lane at the bank when I tried to drive away. The backup camera and audio display were nice. GM needs to go back and finish this car, I was never so glad to see my Civic and certainly appreciate Honda engineering after driving this piece of junk. It's been a couple of weeks and I still recall my bad experience.

Bought the car a year ago but too many recall and alternator broke after 7k miles. Recently, the car failed to start and after 15 minutes the car start. Two weeks after that happen, it happened again. This time, it takes an hour to start but engine lights on. I called Chevy Roadside Assistance and advise ok to drive for a certain miles. So I drive on my way home, car shut off in the middle of the road while driving. I was driving about 35 mph, the car rolling about 50 yard and start again by it self. Its scarry and dangerous, luckily theres no one in front of me or did not go in the freeway. The car has 3 recall, so far the car runs great and no problem.

I've owned my 2016 Cruze for a year and have had no problems. It's been reliable, great on gas and no mechanical issues. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the vehicle to others.

This car is mostly great. If you don’t have a lead foot, you can get pretty good gas mileage. I’ve been averaging about 26-31 City, and 39-45 on the Highway! What’s more, is it’s pretty peppy. I don’t get some reviews saying it’s slow, they need to drive a regular Elantra or Corolla and then they’ll know what’s slow. Overall, it’s a great car and I recommend it.

I bought my Cruze about 8 months ago, it was at 83,XXX miles and now it’s almost 103,XXX. It’s an LT model with the RS package. Amazing fuel mileage, on my short 55mph commutes to work I average about 50-55mpg, that is definitely the sweet spot for this car is 55-60mph. Mine is the 6 speed manual and is a very solid transmission, 1st gear is a little too low for my liking and unless you give it a little more gas to get going, it’ll accelerate from 0 just fine. The manual does not have the start/stop option(thank GOD) and is just overall a good transmission. Running 80 it sits at about 2500rpm and is still pretty efficient. I have gotten it up to 136mph before I gave up(not reccomemded). It gets up and goes when I need it to and passes whoever I want to pass. I have had 0 issues with it since I got it(we’ll see if it lasts), I take very good care of it. The black paint option is also very good looking when it’s cleaned/shined. The functionality of the vehicle is also pretty solid, the infotainment is everything you need while still remaining basic enough to learn how to operate it pretty quickly. The cluster tells me everything I need to know about the car and has all kinds of tools to use. The heater/A/C works really well, and the leg room in every seat is great. I do wish the seats had lumbar support as they’re not the most comfortable for long road trips, especially if you have back pain like me. Other than that, it’s been a good car to me and hasn’t given me any trouble. Pros: Fuel Economy!! Enough Acceleration Plenty of leg room Big trunk for its size Handles well around corners Ride quality is comfortable Stock sound system is good User friendly Cons: Sun visors don’t extend No lumbar support Little bit sluggish off the line if 1st isn’t used right Would highly recommend for a college student or every day mid-distance commuter to work. It’s a good ride for the money.

I love my car the only thing that ive a problem with was the thermometer stat had to change it then the sensor had to be changed then the fan relay had to be changed. Hopefully thats the end of replacement of parts.only have 60,000. Miles on it.

Auto stop feature totally ruins the car. Too many recalls. And serious issue with the Oxygen Sensor. This will be my 5th time in less than 2 years taking it in yet again this week. The bad part is, I paid extra for this Trim package to have the Remote Start in this cold Ohio weather. Everytime my Oxygen Sensor has issues and the engine light comes on, The remote start does not work! I am glad it was just a lease because I would never buy this car, or lease another one. I will say it looks nice, but that does me no good when it isn't a sound car mechanically.
