Upgrade so worth it
Ordered my very first Corvette in 2020 as a 3LT C8 Coup. Spent weeks agonizing over every detail, finally submitting my build a few days before my bday in November and sealing the deal with my down payment on my bday. I was told 12 months at minimum to delivery, it arrived in August and missing a few cosmetic pieces, but one huge mechanical in that it didn't have the lift. I live in a part of Canada where roadwork season is April to November and pothole season is always. Also my driveway is a hill, so missing the lift was a big deal for me and made taking the car out a pain. Despite this I loved that car and never saw myself giving it up. It was loads of fun to drive and had more power than a daily driver needes, but it was all mine and I grew up on speed. Then one Friday in August I got a text message from the Chevy salesman who sold me my C8, they were getting an e-ray and they knew it was the car I'd actually wanted, but now with terminal cancer never expected to get. The spec sheet arrived a few hours later, riptide metallic blue, 2LZ, coup, z performance pack, mag ride, and a lift! Jumped at the chance and haven't regretted it for a second. The e-ray is so much faster than the C8 it's scary at times. I've managed a launch assist 0-60 in 2.2 seconds without even trying (Ihave taken the C8 owners school, and I do have track time behind me). Power to road transfer with the electric front is incredible. I've not once spun the rears, unlike my friends with z06s. It's a hybrid for performance reasons only, so don't expect that much better fuel economy. The accelation is second to none, braking smooth and engine noise on par with my C8, if not a bit quiter. In stealth mode it's so quiet no one hears it coming. The lift is a dream come true and getting out of the driveway a breeze. Better still the memory feature is perfect for reminding me of a few spots in town to slow down for, so it can activate. It's also a great pothole reminder. I've not had any issues, other than the doors arrived not centered properly and take a bit to close, but that will be fixed on the spring service since I only had it for three weeks before it had to go to sleep for winter. It wasn't the perfect build, the interior is black and tan, I'd much have preferred black, or black with blue stitching, but it's a sacrifice I was willing to make. I've not gotten into the dyno system, or much of the eray tech side, but will when I attend the eray owners school. Overall very happy with the car and can't wait for spring.
