Best Chevy
I am a car ASE mechanic of over 20 years. This is a good family car.The best Chevy sedan I have seen in years. Good reliability, good quality. I dont care what JD Power says, it's the best sedan yet.
Family cruiser
My Cavalier gets me and the family everywhere we need to go. In this hectic world, a dependable vehicle means the world to me. I feel confident and safe in my new Chevy!

Chevy Cavalier. Good Ride!
Again I bought a Chevy. And I'm glad. This seems to be a good little car. Just got it 3 weeks ago for about $7800. It only had 41,600 miles on it. Runs like a champ except a rattle at startup which seems to be just until oil reaches the top of the motor, about 1-2 seconds. It has plenty of power. 140 horses to be exact. Has good cold air, good radio and CD, cruise, auto trans, and nice interior. I know it's outdated but it was such a popular car so they did not need to redesign fast. My first Cavalier and so far I'm happy.
has some issues
gas gauge failed at 48,000. horn stopped at 50,000, engine seems strong at 52,000. if you are considering buying one of these used, tell them to replace the instrument panel as this is a big issue with these cars
2004 Chevy Cavalier
I have been a Chevy owner ever since I was able to drive. I have never had a serious problem with any Chevy I've owned. If they have had a problem It's a cheap and easy fix I found I could do myself. My 2004 Cavalier is extremely good on gas. It's really reliable this winter. I haven't slipped while driving and I still only have the stock tires on it...not even winter ones. I handles curves pretty while at higher speeds and brakes quickly. It's small enough to squeeze in and out of city traffic easily but yet large enough to fit 4 adults comfortable. I especially like the trunk... it's alot larger then it looks. It has good pick up when you need to pass also.
Best car for the money
I purchased my Cavalier about 14 months ago and already have 55,000 miles on it. It has been a great car so far. Most powerful 4 cyl I have ever driven, with better fuel economy than any I have driven. The seats are quite comfy, great stereo system. Doesnt handle great on curvy roads, but its not a sports car. But so far it has been maintenance free. Highly recommended for the price
Love It! Great for families!
It's a nice car that is small and ecomonomical, yet large enough for my husband to comfortably drive, and he's 6'3". I like the dark interior and how quiet the ride is. And the mileage is great, but she can get up and go too!
so
only had it a few days. i really like it. looks good, comfortable, runs great so far, I hope its going to be a good car for a while.

Not too Happy
I was really excited to get my Cavalier, i thought it was really small and cute. When I test drove it I loved how smooth it drove and my Cavalier was very comfortable! But after only having it for about 8 months, I've spent a lot of money fixing it! The check engine light has come on several times in the past month! My car has been in the shop already twice this month. And I have been maintaining it very well. Hmm. Despite its problems, the Cavalier drives nicely and actually accelerates pretty fast!
customer
save gas, fast speed. nice color to convience me to buy it. Like to use keyless remote. Like to have back seat to flip down, some room for my skis.
nice car for the money
I only had this car for a few weeks but I can tell it's a solid little car for the money. IT handles very well and goes thru snow and slush in a sure footed manner. Nice sound system and I just think it's a winner. I paid less than 9,000 dollars for it excluding taxes and it is well equiped with auto, cruise, air, and a CD player-am-fm radio. Best buy I ever made.
There's nothing wrong with car
I've seen various reviewers trash the cavalier over the years. I am driving the 2005 and it is a very nice car. it is not as smooth as the Hyndai Elantra, but the Cavalier has a good feel to it. I enjoy driving it. The interior plastic is cheap. It is perfectly acceptable for an economy car.
Teen's First Car
We bought our daughter this car because the price with the all the great features far outweighed a late model used car. It is a very loaded car (satellite radio, tail fin, alloy wheels) so it looks updated and she loves it! It has been extremely reliable and we have been very pleased. I will caution that for an adult it may feel a bit tiny, but it gives a solid, peppy drive.
Should have bought a Camry
Had this car for 3 years. Bought at 117k. Not a very reliable vehicle. Timing chain needed replacing at 118k, water pump went bad at 140k, fuel pump went bad at 160k and left me stranded, fuel pressure regulator went bad at 161k, now the starter is bad at 165k. All of these are common Ecotec problems. There are also drivetrain issues, which are also common. The drivetrain rattles when starting the car up. I have put into this car exactly what I bought it for. It's not worth it. If you want to get a Cavalier, an earlier year with a different engine would suffice. The only good thing about owning this car is that, despite everything going bad, the engine itself refuses to give up. I would only suggest buying this car if you know how to fix it yourself.

falling apart shortly after I bought it and continue to
I bought 2005 Chevy Cavalier sedan in fall 2005. Problems started with the driver's seat handle breaking off then the seat would flop back while driving. Chevy's customer service suggested replacing the whole seat. The catalic converter died (was under warranty) an ion sensor went bad. The seats are uncomfortable you can feel anyone's foot movement near the seat .The dash rattles. The glove compartment handle broke, driver's visor flops, had to replace driver's power window motor and switch this year. Now it wont start not sure what's wrong now. All this on a 5 year old car. Piece of junk.

The height of chevys negligence
It's a shame really. Have 125k on it, replaced K frame already due to complete failure because of rot. Stabilizer bar mount rotted out as well, shocks replaced, fuel pressure regulator, auxiliary fan, dash cluster died a slow miserable death, a.c., gone. Heat only works on high, blower motor, replaced. Good part is engine is reliable, transmission shifts clean. Decent acceleration for what it is. But the car feels cheap and hollow. Overall, it's a piece of junk but it runs

2005 Cavalier - Excellent Value!
It's my third Cavalier. Great value for the $...especially after 4.5k rebate. Never let me down...just gas & regular maint., brake job every 50k, tires at 80k, first tuneup at 100k. 4 cylinder engine has plenty of pickup. Averaging 28 mpg for combination city-highway driving, and have gotten 34+ mpg highway...while avg 70 mph. Excellent traction in snow and wet roads. Handling is firm and predictable, but is a bit soft on tight turns at speed. Interior is comfortable + has LARGE amount of hauling space with the fold- down split rear seat.
fuel gauge
I see I am not the only one with fuel gauge problems. I guess I will continue to guess the amount of fuel in the tank as many (too many) others have done. Sorry about our luck on this one! The car has been very reliable till now, right after the warranty expires. This sounds like a very common error on Chevrolets The gas gauge just goes wild and finally comes to rest on the temp gauge. From what I read the gas tank has to come out and a new sensor installed and while the tank is out you might as well put a new fuel pump in too. Not going to happen!Maybe once the fuel pump quits it will really become an issue for me. I am sure other people who read these don't bother to enter a comment
A Good Sedan To Own
My experiance with this vehicle has been great. It has great fuel economy, nice pick up with the 140 horespower, and is stylish looking.
Love my Cavalier
This car is one of the best cars I have ever owned. The mileage I get on gas is great. I take trips to NC every 3 months, and I am always comfortable, and feel very secure that my car is going to get me there safe, without any problems. I am proud to drive this little car, actually it fits me perfectly, since I am only 5 ft tall. And the trunk holds plenty of suitcases! I do not regret purchasing this car, and would recommend it to all!
short drive-traded it off!
Traded a Ford Escort in for a new Cavalier. The seats were "horrible" with these deep designer groves that hurt your butt and back. Added seat cushion and thick seat covers-Malibu seats are good should have installed one of those. View to back terrible with back seat headrests and third light in middle of view. Cornered like a drunken sailor. Traded it for a different car with only 4800 miles on it. Defroster design in middle of windshield not very effective either as it distributed fan pattern in middle with no coverage till later for the driver to see through. To me a dated design ready to be replaced! My 1999 Escort handled better with better seats!
new cavalier
i just bought a brand new chevy cavalier.its a great car. very dependable drives great. and nice looking as well
Work / Family fun
I have 2000 miles on my 2005 Cavalier. It runs great, gets 35 mpg (highway), and the A/C and cd player make it very nice to travel in.I put 500 miles on a week traveling back and forth to work and we use it as a "family car" on the week-ends.
Awesome Car!
This is the best car that I have owned even though I haven't had it very long. I have to small children and it's a big enough for my family. Everything about the car is great. How things are set up on the inside and how it looks on the outside is ourstanding. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good family car but also sporty looking 4-door.
Great
Great for the money. No problems. Great MPG.
Excellent car
Only have 1200 mi on our silver LS 4dr Cavalier- purchased over Labor Day weekend. Enjoy everything about it. Haven't had snow/ice yet so don't know about the defroster. The a/c was a Godsend since that on our old 88 Mazda didn't work. We get 24 mpg running around town. Haven't been on the highway yet. Getting used to the remote keyless entry. Traded in a 86 pontiac 6000 and 88 mazda 323- so we've moved into the 21st century.
never again
hard to handel on the highway when alot of wind or behind 18 wheelers.
Nice to drive and own, Looks sharp!
Easy to handle, eases in and out of traffic, great handling, looks sharp, comfortable for me, maybe not for larger individuals, sporty style....
Just purchased the brand new car
Just purchased this car for 2 weeks. Powerful, quite engine and transmission. Wonderful exterior look. I drove an old Crysler car before. In comparison, this car is not as roomy, especially the space above and in front of driver's head, and feels a little bit light and flying on highway in windy days. In general this car is great!
An excellent car
An excellent car for the $14.5K I paid totally. Many wonderful features. The engine, the transmission, the air condition are great! All these are expensive key parts.
Go Go Speed Racer
I bought this car because I needed something cheap since I'm starting a new job and going back to school. I had very low hopes for the Cavalier but just needed something to get me from point A to B. When I first got the car I dubbed it the "Go-kart" because it was so small. I had no idea this car would be so much fun to drive.
2005 review of Cavalier Sedan
Good for your money. Quite engine. More room than a coupe if you want the extra space. Nice ride. Will have cruise control installed on vehicle for long distance driving. Overall, a good price car for those who want to save on gas/economy.
Chevy Cavalier
I love my Chevy Cavalier. It has been a very reliable form of transportation. I believe the old design has been very effective. The majority of the Cavalier owners have responded positively regarding their cars. I like the manner it performs on the highway and in the city. I believe it rates higher than experts rating scale. Americans need a car like the Chevy Cavalier. I believe it will become an American Icon like the Ford Mustang. I believe that you need to reconsider your evaluation criteria. One important criteria is that the Cavalier is American made with American technology.
excellent car for a reasonable cost
Chevy had a 5000 dollar rebate so I bought this car for under 10,000 dollars out the door tax included. It is very well equiped too. It is fun to drive, excellent power, and it has a quality feel to it. I'm completely satisified and feel this car as as good as any import in this class.
A Great Car
I love my Cavalier. I have had it for 6 months and have put over 11,000 miles on it. I use it as a family sedan with my 3 children and it's wonderful. The LS interior is great and isn't showing any wear despite numerous spills. It has more than enough power even when loaded for a trip and the auto transmission is flawless. Fuel economy is astounding on the freeway and exceeds the mileage on the sticker. It doesn't wander at all on the freeway and goes straight down the road. I traded in my Honda Pilot when I got the Cavalier and have not looked back since. This is much more of a driver friendly vehicle than the Honda was and the kids like the seats in the Chevy better anyway.
my baby
This has been a great car for me and my family. Even with gas prices as high as they are it does not take too much to fill my car. The exterior of the car almost looks like a sports car. Then interior of the car is great. Plenty of room for you and your kids to go away for the week or for the day. I love my car.
Mom/family car
I love my car for the fact that it has saftey features on it. I wish it would of had side airbags. I now have 18,699 miles on it. We went to the tip of TX, and going down I got 34mpg. By the time we came back, I got 36, not bad. This is my first brand new car and I plan on keeping it untill 100,000 miles. I take very good care of it because I want to know that when I get rid of this car that I gave them a good car. But the thing I like about it that it has been around since 1987 and that a thief can't take my car or stereo and if we were in a wreck all electric is shut off. I am well please with our car. Just can't wait for electric/gas cars.
New Lover
I love the ride. The engine is a little noisy for my taste but the rest of car is self makes up for it.
Comfortable for the price
Combine the GM $5K Manufacturers rebate with my $3.5K GM card rebate and discount off sticker, I paid $8k for a car that stickered at $17.3K. Great visibility and ease of parking are the two main features I like combined with GREAT gas mileage at 25 mpg city especially at $3/gallon and it was a great price and timely buy. Surprisingly comfortable for a small car. Time will tell on the reliability of said vehicle but given the price I have no concerns about repair costs
Purchased used
I am 5'1 and the car has no seat raiser which turned me off. Also, the 2003 Malibu's had an automatic shut off for the lights which this car doesn't have for some reason. The driver door locks if you get out of the car and close the door, so you need to make sure you don't leave your keys in the car. Fuel economy is poor but I am slightly biased because I wanted a Toyota Prius which has 55+ mpg. Power window controls are in the center of the car instead of on the door which is hard to get used to. The handling could be a little better, but I just learned to drive so maybe it's me
Outstanding
The 2005 Chevy Cavalier was a blessing for our daughter. I enjoy driving and using the car to run errands. It handles very well and the brakes are very dependable. The price I paid for this car was $5150. Not bad for a very economical vehicle for our daughter. By saving on the fuel, this will help us put our daughter through college.
05 Cavalier
My Cavalier is awesome! This is a very reliable great car! Plenty of power for me! Bought for 13,000
STAY AWAY
I recently rented a 2005 Cavalier on vacation and can honestly say it was one of the worst cars I have driven. The car itself was in fine condition with approx 22,000 miles so I cant blame the car's problems on the rental company. Where do I start...lumpy, uncomfortable, poorly contoured seats, bathtub seating position, quirky/non intuitive/poorly marked/dated controls, many squeaks and rattles, unattractive dash/interior, poor material quality, jiggly ride, poor stability control on the freeway. However, gas mileage was good. Overall, if I had to live with this car as a daily driver instead of a rental, I would trade it in. Stay away.
First Few Months Performance.
Driving seat is not comfortable for extended driving, it is too low. The accelerator pedal is too far back and should be moved more in line with the brake. During cold weather the transmission tends to stick in lower gear for the first 2 miles. I would prefer a higher vehicle next time with more roof clearance and the seat higher from the floor. The lights from other traffic are a definite problem due to the low level of this car.
Interior Needs Redesign
Maybe because I'm short-windshield view is very narrow between the top of steering wheel & bottom of sun visor. The elevated position of the wiper is VERY distracting! HATE the steering wheel-instrument panel&ignition are hidden from view-you have to crane your neck to see around it & grope to insert the key. Window controls are too far toward the rear of the console. Front doors do not open far enough for easy entry. Dash lights can't be dimmed to level I find comfortable for night driving. Black XM radio antenna looks like a wart-should match the body color. Noisy inside-not yet sure if noise level is engine noise or road noise from the tires-I may change tires. Poor radio sound adjustment
Cavalier 2005 Junk
They are terrible worst riding car i owned backseats are known to fall apart power windows dont last a good life time ac and heater unit is garbage good luck freezing in the winter
